Ya man is not for kitten. ajajaja
Quite simply is there an API to show my guildies what other guilds i’m in but not repping. May be of help if people are looking for multiple guilds to meet their needs and have a large friend base etc.
Does not exist. Why?
10k badges is not hard to get without eotm farm.
I’m no rocket surgeon, but. BUT. It may be because you can farm approximately 1000 per day by running in circles while pressing 1 and F.
Such thread,
much disappoint,
wow.
I’m most bothered by the lack of communication about topics which matter, not the new content. Guild Halls, Precursor crafting, new legendaries, and all the other stuff that was mentioned last year and not since then. I fail to understand why communicating with the customers on a more regular and open basis is not of a higher priority. I don’t feel that asking for general information is a massive request.
The mass exodus from this game that would follow. Population imbalance is only a problem if you don’t take WvW for what it is.
Can’t say myself or anyone in my guild are appreciative of the mega server system. I don’t like being put into a map with people I don’t know or care about while my guild is spread across multiple overflows.
WTB Cantha, pm best offer.
Mine wasn’t either. Its pretty ridiculous that its an inconsistent change.
From what I have noticed in this game, there is too many stat combinations and traits that it’s really hard for a new player to know exactly what is effective, in addition to that because there are so many only a handful actual have a usage. It makes it really difficult for players to have alts and know what is effective but the worst of all is new players roll the worse stats and end up crippling themselves without even knowing it.
Take for example conditions, it is the most useless stat combination in the game for PvE. Yet a new player playing a necromancer, would most likely roll condition damage right?
Why provide a stat combination for conditions when they are so broken in the game that they do not have a use other than PvP? Why add more traits when the current ones need to be fixed? Wasn’t that part of your manifesto? To have less but more effective skills to use?
While traits and repairs are free, there is still an issue with gear. It costs a lot of gold to even test a build to see if it works, simply because of the gear you have to buy.
In the original guild wars in the PvP area you could test out PvE builds and it even had a dps calculator, we have none of those tools. Instead we have dummies that cannot even be critical.
Word PvE is so outnumbering that you can be naked and still get credit, so you can’t even tell if your build is effective until you run higher level fractals.
Knowing these forums, people are going to be saying to check online for the best builds. Unfortunately, everyone has vastly different opinions and while someone might think a build is decent it could actually be ineffective. Plus new players do not want to research the game, they would like to discover the builds themselves but unfortunately there is very little tools to do so.
The best you can do at the moment is use PVP test dummies, but even the stats do not match there so its not viable.
More testing solutions should be added, and personally I think they need to start fixing their current problems instead of adding new ones.
I would have to rate this post as 10/10 for troll quality.
HOPE from Fa was quite good when we fought them.
Devs are usually reluctant to comment on things like this. Any response a Dev gives here will only be met with more questions and demands.
A mod should sticky this. This is one of the few threads in this section that actually has useful information.
This would be great since many of us have duplicates that will now never be used and were costly to buy, but likely there will be 0 compensation.
It’s often stated that classes serve three purposes in MMOs.
1. Allows you to feel unique, because you can do things other players can’t.
2. Makes balancing the game easier.
3. Gives making alts a purpose. But does it really serve any of those purposes?
1. In games where the class systems ate very relaxed or non-existent, build-crafting can become so diverse and deep that people effectively create their own classes. That to me lets you feel a lot more unique than having classes.
2. I wanna give an example for this. I think when devs talk about balance is pretty much alwats about PvP. The Secret World has a pretty tiny dev team compared to GW2 after Funcom laid off half their staff, and certainly doesn’t have a balancing team (the last balance patch was like a year ago).
Yet PvP in TSW is a lot more balanced and diverse than GW2. How? Because TSW has an extremely open build crafting system with no class restrictions at all, so the complexity of it means that there’s a lot more options open for many different play styles so you don’t end up having a few metabuilds that’s better than everything else. You can have a lot of skills in every class, but each class will still have a pretty much pre-defined play style and attributes, so you end up with a small pool of builds which synergises with that best.
3. I tend to think alts are a solution to a problem instead of a benefit. Other than to just play the game from the start or RPing (which you will still do without classes) you create alts do you can experience the play style of other classes, if there were no classes, then you won’t need to create alts to experience other plays toes because it’s all accessible from a single toon.
What do you guys think?
I think it’s a very complex, expensive and time-consuming “fix” to a “problem” that for most isn’t a problem.
I agree with that sentiment to an extent.
PvP is a big fail, all the main guys have left, it’s been mismanaged from the ground up and impromptu GvG competed with it for popularity.
The sorts of people that mostly PvE are the kinds of people that want easy content for high rewards. Who would rather relax and take things easy.
They don’t want to PvP or WvW due to the ‘competitive’ nature of it, their competition is usually in the form of TP flipping and auto attacking at world bosses and then comparing the results.
WvW is really where the community of GW2 is made beyond the servers, 2 week updates etc. Otherwise GW2 would be the game you solo for dailies, check out new content every 2 weeks and group up once a week for guild missions.
This was extremely well said. Massive +1 to this, hopefully this will be read.
As we know quite a few people don’t like the PvE gw2 has offered us and decided to play out their characters in WvW.
Before the update traits would start from level 11 and go up to 80 (70 points). You would have 20 points by the time you hit level 30. It didn’t hurt as much to have uplevels in WvW because you’d have 2 major traits by 30, fleshing out a part of your build.
After the update traits no start at 30 with 1 (the equiv. of 5 in the previous system). Thus this really hits uplevels really hard particularly any under 30. The game is solely gear-dependant up to level 30. This pretty much reduces the effectiveness of characters below 80 and effectively makes any characters below 30 useless.
Did they intend to make WvW endgame only???? If so, why isn’t there a flippin’ level cap then… This trait change just guts uplevels…
Hell we got acc bound wxp. Alright cool, but now our uplevel alts are pretty useless now.
Literally working as intended.
I don’t know why diminishing return on CC, didn’t launch with the game.
If information can be gathered, easily displayed, there is demand and no tangible harm then there is no reason not to do so. Hurt feelings and other forms of emotional distress do not qualify as tangible harm. This and much more should be displayed in leaderboards, including guild influence.
GW2 is not quite 2 years old yet.
OP makes good points.
That player influx.
WvW:ers have been asking for ways to get more Ascended materials since said materials were implemented. We do get rather few of those mats naturally after all.
Are you nuts, I have bank tabs of this stuff just from WvW. If you are lacking ascended mats you are not in WvW.
actually i think it is a good idea.
it would give the servers the time to adjust to the proper rank for the initial match up. it is just that the time given was not enough.
there should actually be a 3 or 4 weeks cooling off period before the league begins for the servers to naturally adjust their rank based on the new server strength due to transfers.
Except it was not enough time for proper adjustment. HoD, SoR.
Because Condi spam requires infinitely more skill ofc.
sPvP players don’t get experience by playing in it. In WvW, players gain experience from events and killing things.
I’m not saying it’s a bad idea, just pointing out that the two don’t really compare.
Surely now that SPvP players get Tomes of Knowledge passively via the added reward tracks this issue can be reconsidered.
WTB response from Colin.
Wtb expansion for this.
Ok, realpolitik time:
While to many outside of eastern Asian the region looks like one big blob of dirt and a few island occupied by a lot of people with epicanthic eye-folds, the region is actually filed with a complex array of cultures and ethnicities that on the whole hate each other and have been killing each other for thousands of years right up to and including some massive atrocities in the last century. Seriously, ask the man on the street in Osaka and Shanghai about their opposite number in the other city and odds are you’ll hear things that would make the klu klux klan blush. During my stay in Japan I had some of the most pleasant folks imaginable go absolutely feral over things as small as casting a Chinese-descended actor to play a nominally Japanese-American character. We’re talking Hollywood day-to-day business as usual taken as a call for lynch mobs. Ugly.
Now introduce a bunch of dudes and dudettes from the American west coast who have a fondness for Asian architecture/visual stylings and maybe a little understanding of feudal cultures but little or no grounding in the actual historical events of the region. They roll out a setting featuring a mash-up of cultural cues about as insensitive and inappropriate as decorating a classical synagogue with swastikas to people who grew up in the cultures being mangled.
It kittened some people off. And it should. Rather than put a historian on staff to spot check a setting that’s largely unworkable from the ground up they have wisely decided to just NOT put their foot in that particular wolf-trap again after getting out of it once already by gnawing that limb off.
WTB expansion for this.
Can we please have confirmation that maps affected by the mega-server will produce influence. The feature notes are ambiguous on this topic.
I think that the RP community should be prepared for a worst case scenario, but hope for the best. Use the gw2rp forums to pick a game to migrate to if Anet follows its well established pattern of screwing the pooch. It sucks, yeah, but it’s better that being caught unprepared. Then, if by some miracle, Anet actually manages to get things right (their track record doesn’t give much hope), then the plans to migrate can be scrapped.
Agreed, i must say i don’t believe in miracles, especially when it comes from a company who refused to acknowledge rp at every turn. Maybe when we’re gone they will realize that they lost their most loyal community, the one that if treated with decency does stick around more than a pure pver or pvper. But i doubt it seeing their track record, blindfolds ftw!
Historically speaking, the two most loyal playerbases are RPers and PvPers, because both groups are able to create their own content. Long after PvE players have devoured the developer made content and moved on to the next big thing, the RP and PvP crowds extend a games life for years.
Coincidentally, both of these groups have been completely mistreated, neglected and often times flat out abused by Anet and NCSoft. They like the player turnover that PvE players provide. More box sales, each of which is more likely to make purchases on the cash shop to get all the souvenirs and baubles that older players already have.
Good point in regards to play loyalty.
Wtb expansion for this.
Honestly it would be great if we could craft wxp or regular xp potions with these. Way too many sitting in my bank that will never be used.
I’m guessing your thanking us for the gold you’re making in pve since you’re stuck in ques but if some how you are in wvw then please know keep lords, vet guards, yaks, and wooden doors don’t read the forum.
Amazing. #fact.
I’ve spoken to a lot of ex players to find out what they think of all this feature pack noise and whether they would consider coming back to gw2.
The major questions which need answering with the correct answers are requirements for most of them returning, however interesting the feature patch may look.
A) Is there still a grind for the gear with the highest stats? (Ascended).
B) Do I still need to perform this grind for every alt?
C) Do I still need to perform this grind for every playstyle? (eg – grind for zerker, then grind for tanky, then grind for healing, then grind for conditions?)
Your definition of the word “grind” is questionable. See any Korean MMO. Ever.
Why do the playing fields need to be leveled? I’m not exactly sure what that means in this case. If you started doing something later than others and have done less work than others, you should have less than others.
This change is pretty disgusting. The attitude of equalizing players is one that should not prevail. Are we going to receive influence, commendation, laurel and gold caps as well?
I don’t see how this is soemthing the game needed at all. If you don;t want to grind AP then don’t, the system should not have to forcibly prevent progression for you to take a break. You could play exactly as you wanted before, the OP just comes across as being selfish.
I believe in you guys, with the power of friendship anything is possible.
Who can we pm to get more information about ET?
Can anyone tell me if/when HoD has orientation for new guilds? Also is there a website/packet that I can borrow for more information until then?
Excellent job so far guys, keep it up.
Is DR a new server?
Who can we pm to get more information about ET?
Who do we speak to about xferring?
Sanctum of Fall*. On a serious note omw bros.
Everything should be obtainable for some cost no matter how obscene. Leveling scrolls can’t really break the game so I feel this is pretty reasonable as long as it costs a good amount of badges.
I can’t remember the post but once a dev said: what if in order to rally you need to stomp the enemy and not just kill it.
Well, this would balance the WvW scene so much, right now having an upscaled player on an organized group means having 5 potensial rallies for the enemy. The ratio of good players you need to balance a single upscaled is insane, 1 to 5. Right now you just autoattack on downed enemy and make your allies rally, the fact of stomping would make downed skills much more usefull and change the WvW scene.Another idea for balancing the rally problem could be to reduce the rally ratio 1 to 1, so only 1 enemy gets the rally when an enemy is killed or just remove the rally mechanic
EDIT (from comments): The rally mechanic has created an us (hardcore) versus them (casual) split on every server
This is actually an awesome idea.
