Welcome to the new and improved free to play business model; toxic behavior goes hand in hand with f2p like cookies and cream.
F2P players can’t use map chat nor do they have access to raids and HoT maps. And dungeon elitism has been a thing for years.
15 Charrs agree.
15 Charrs actually appreciate this thread.
15 Charrs also share this concern.
15 Charrs would also like to know.
15 Charrs do not agree. Then again 15 Charrs also understand the concept of organization.
We have access to Tavern 2 and it made no difference. This is very odd, it would be really nice to get a brief response to this to know if there is a misunderstanding or if we are in fact missing something.
im hoping it’ll come with the additional exploration unlock at level 40 (i believe) as there is no upgrades listed that require it. so here’s hoping when it gets unlocked we get a bunch more upgrades?
who knows… i want that anthem though kitten!
15 Charrs agree.
Given we only have 3 months of upgrades left to run, it would be nice to get a response.
That this thread will be merged soon.
On another note, my small guild consisting of 5-7 active people donating is now Level 31. The cost of it is fine imo.
Legit. You are my hero.
Anet has 0 responsibility for you making bad decisions. The intended mechanic is for you to farm it yourself for your guild, hence why it is account bound. If you get scammed while trying to circumvent the system thats just #rekt.
Honestly thought this was going to be a Trump troll thread.
did you find and do the jumping puzzle inside the guildhall yet?
just like the whole area south you can also reach it rather easy without any upgrades when you found out where to glide and jump but i wonder if it is actually unlocked in a normal way when you reached lvl 40?
or if there are other upgrades needed for that?
We did that the first week it was out, but no this unlock doesn’t make it much easier to get to the puzzle. At about 2:13 in the video is probably the biggest change to getting to the puzzle, but its not a massive improvement. The biggest change is really just opening up the hollow itself, and getting the new waypoint. I really do hope that there is some hidden proprietor that becomes available or there are new upgrades going to be patched in shortly.
We have access to Tavern 2 and it made no difference. This is very odd, it would be really nice to get a brief response to this to know if there is a misunderstanding or if we are in fact missing something.
I’ve noticed a similar trend but not tied to level or time, but rather specific upgrades. I feel like 1 proprietor with just cosmetic upgrades and changes might be nice. It literally creates no balance issues so all the upgrades could be expensive.
anet didn’t expect any guild to reach lvl40 this fast that’s why is still not possible to reach lvl80.
they said before it would take 6months for a guild to max but guilds already getting to lvl40 I would say it wont take that long.
so yeah anet needs to add more guild upgrades soon xDD
Its possible they may not have anticipated it, but 6 months is still a good estimate as we still have roughly 400,000 aetherium of upgrades to run. So maybe less then that, but its still a good ballpark. I felt they set reasonable expectations with guild halls to be honest.
Bump for video post.
For the WvW guilds the first SMC claim was last week. We’re still waiting to hear on the first supply +5 and the first Airship Defense. I’m also wondering who’s going to get the first Further Exploration and if it triggers another attack from Mordremoth!
We did Further exploration after hitting level 40. There is no special cutscene or fight. I’m pretty sure were the first as no one else has posted about it.
We unlocked further exploration about 9 hours ago, no epic fight. Video will be up soon.
It would be nice to have access to this data as its not terribly difficult to produce.
A PvE arena for dps testing etc would be interesting.
is there a way to visit lost precipe without having a guild that has it? Would like to see it (only know Gilded hollow now).
Its not expensive to just have both for your guild. Thats what we did.
It would be nice to get a dev response on this.
15 Charrs also want a tp.
It would be nice to have one Proprietor that makes only visual changes to the guild hall and perhaps another for QIL improvements such as training dummies, more waypoints, mobs for grinding etc.
Sigh, how I miss the old influence system.
The guy that comes up with this new rip-up spreadsheet is kinda beyond me.
Did he think his decision REALLY wouldn’t drive a good portion of people away from the game? The worst part is they take away the default bonus from a guild and reintroduce it, gating it behind hundred thousands of gold…
Its not close to hundreds of thousands of gold to unlock what people use most often. People cry daily on this forum about how difficult or grindy this content is when really it just requires organization and patience.
15 Charrs thought this was a good read.
We unlocked this about 13 hours ago, did not get a cut scene or any other visual queue besides the npc becoming noticeably excited with our purchase. Also as stated during this livestream level 80 should be the guild hall max, but we only have enough upgrades to reach around level 64 as this upgrade didn’t unlock anymore upgrades or proprietors.
http://dulfy.net/2015/09/30/gw2-guild-week-day-two-livestream-notes/
The most interesting part of this upgrade besides the fact that it automagically deletes 2 mountains is that it still leaves many rooms and doors locked. The most prettiful of said rooms you can take a look at below. It’s a crystal locked in a room that is just off the guild vault.

It is puzzling.
Firstly, COF isn’t nerfed and spider is nerfed. There isn’t any consistency in those actions.
Secondly, didn’t anet mentioned that if people want to grind for experience and level up quickly, it is their rights to do so?
Tsk tsk tsk.
PS: I used to do spider but no longer do it since I don’t need it. However, I think such nerf is unreasonable and not consistent.
Because casuals.
dear anet plz nerf spider farm, this is not maple story witch killing mobs its all about.
and plz buff the exp from dt events so people will do them, and one suggestion is that plz rewarde players for helping outher players with the hero points in the jungle becuse new charters in the jungle have hard time to kill the hero points champ becuse you cant find enugh player to help thank you .
Nerf grinding so that its easier for you to leech. Got it.
I maxed all 9 professions in hero points for their elite specialization and am finding myself back on Skyrim. I thought the xpac was supposed to give us more to do, but after unlocking specs I’m dead bored.
-Dungeons are completely dead, pretty much removed from the game with the rewards nerf.
-Fractals gave us double the work and grind + mastery grind for less rewards. There are also NO NEW FRACTALS. Just the same old boring rotation with number tweaks and existing mistlocks buffed. Fractals were not expanded upon at all with the exception of a bleh legendary backpiece.
-World Meta events take HUGE amounts of time (2 hr+ each meta), fail regularly, and the game spawns dead maps faster than then the U.S. Treasury prints money. Either I never have time to finish an event from 1 hour of map hopping to find an organized one, or spend 40mins before realizing there is no hope at all that the map is even going to make it to the end phase. Rewards like the bladed armor chest are RNG at the end, so you can go through it all and get nothing.
-General focus on world events creates this feeling that I don’t have control over my own progression, that I’m sitting here waiting on 200 people on a map to do their stuff right so that I can get anywhere. As player, I generally don’t feel important anymore. Getting anything in this game seems to be just sheer luck. Whether is getting a precursor drop or getting into a good map. There is no player control over their growth at all.
-Rewards in general suck and seem to become less and less with each update instead of more. Cost of ascended gear has skyrocketed to the point of making gear for new characters an impossibility. If you weren’t and early bird that got your crap early, your pretty much screwed. Don’t even think about trying to make celestial gear… if your a ele then your double screwed.
-EVERYTHING is expensive. Whenever I’m standing in front of the TP, I feel like I’m living in the Great Depression and standing in a breadline with a 20$ just to buy one loaf (a.k.a one single strength or scholar rune).
-The expansion is pretty small, I blew through the story in less than an hour and don’t really feel compelled to play through it again just to get slammed with bugs from the last boss. The quality of the storytelling was very low as well.
-From the master system to the above problem, to the length, the game DEMANDS MUCH but RETURNS LITTLE. I feel like my time playing is wasted.
The monetary policy add in is what really brought this to A+ status.
I believe it’s wrong for small guilds to expect to have access to what larger guilds have achieved through their teamwork and commitment. It is right though to expect some sort of functionality and effort/reward system to be put in place in game that is reasonably able to be acquired for smaller guilds (i.e. 5-10 players). After all, there are a lot more smaller guilds out there than there are larger guilds.
I really want to swear at you for this statement: I payed the EXACT same price (beta player early start whatever) as you did or any other person at start, and you are basically saying I have not the same rights with my 2 person guild as a 500 person guild? So so , so shortsighted of you. I payed FULL price, I want FULL game being able to come to me in what ever shape or form, PLAY HOW YOU WANT, was their sales slogan, clearly now it is PLAY AS ALL OTHER MILLIONS OR LEAVE!
I really DO NOT care if it takes me 6 months or a year to achieve the same goals as a full 500 guild can do within 2 days, but I should BE ABLE to do so, and currently it is NOT possible! Oh wait yeah /insert whiney voice: HURRDURR JOIN A BIG GUILD, USE LFG!
No it should NOT be needed to do so. once again I payed full price, I want FULL access to ALL features, EVEN if it is hard to achieve or very costly, and once again it is NOT possible with the current system!Swear and get upset all you like, but doing so doesn’t help anything. I agree with some of what you’ve said. But you have to look at it from all points of view, just not our own.
Paying for a game does not automatically entitle any of us to everything within that game. It never ever has been the way nor should it ever be the way. And it certainly has never been the way in MMOs in general. Using that same line of entitled thinking one could also argue that all the access/rewards in the upcoming raids should also be achievable by those that solo/duo/group. No one would ever ask for that, because it simply doesn’t make sense.
What I think there should be in place are a set of rewards/goals specifically designed for smaller/medium-sized guilds too. Right now as we know the focus is almost exclusively on larger guilds. As an example; I’d like to see guild halls available that are more designed for the smaller guild (like I wrote above), and other smaller scale target goals, that would logically become a focus for smaller guilds. It’s all about balance, and – most importantly – variety when it comes to MMOs. Right now Guild Wars 2 lacks this variety with regards to guild functionality.
There should be incentives and rewards for guilds of all sizes in the game. Asking for smaller guilds to have the same options, regardless of the work involved, takes away some of the reward from the larger guilds. I don’t think doing that is the best way forward.
I did not swear nor am i upset, rather frustrated about things I payed for and have no access too because I want to play the game my way, that is not being entitled nor am I demanding anything, it is the way GW1 and GW2 have worked till HoT came out. GW1 I have my own GH, GW2 I have my own guild, HoT made it impossible. Seems that fair?
I never said I want it all NOW and I do need less work for it then any other guild, I just want to be able to have ACCESS to it. to progress I MUST have more then 5 people. But seeing there is only 2 people currently active in my guild (actually it isnt since HoT got tried by us we basically left it behind other then logging in for some dailies so now and then) I am not currently considered a “Guild” and are not ALLOWED for the same features EVERYONE payed for. Seems that fair? I do not care if i need to work a complete year towards a GH as opposed to a huge guild having to do it in a week or less, ALL I ask for is the same ACCESS!
Well, sadly, if you’re going to blatantly contradict yourself, it’s pointless trying to have any constructive conversation about it. Which is disappointing, because I think it’s a worthwhile topic.
I am not contradicting anything: all I want is the same access as anyone else. I payed as much as anyone else, therefore i want to be able to do the same. I never said I want it now and direct or tossed in my lap: I am willing to work for it, just with my own time and gaming ways, nothing wrong with that? GW has always been about being able to play how you want, not being forced into things we rather do not like. but then we get to this discussion about casual vs hardcore Kitten stuff and I rather not go there (and yeah I am a casual player with limited time, hence that I want my own little place and be able to work for that instead of a 500 people guild with unknown others).
the thing is, you “are able to do the same”. You are not excluded. If you played in a big guild and were excluded from achieving your guild aims even though you did the same thing as other players, then the game would exclude you. You, like many others, mistake “fairness” for being able to take decisions without consequences. You want to play in a 2 person guild, that is fine. And these are the consequences. They are the same consequences for everyone else chosing to play in a 2 person guild. Yes, that is fairness and not exclusion.

I know the guild halls are supposed to be an adventure, but if we have to spend 100 gold why do we have to fight such difficult enemies to get it? I am in a guild of 2 people, which we consider fine, we like just having family in the guild, but we cannot get the guild hall because the enemies are too difficult for 2 people. I would love if there was a way around defeating the Mordrem to get the hall, such as paying extra. Just my thoughts on the subject because it is frustrating after 30 tries and failures.
Your “guild” is less than a party and you find this a reasonable complaint. +1
Threads like these are what I feared about Guild Halls.
I think the idea of having a physically smaller place that is significantly cheaper is a good alternative as it doesnt really diminish what others will have.
Well you can grab mats through the workshop.
1-4 would be great additions, but its understandable why we don’t have them.
We’re a small group of friends. We don’t mind the work, but one of our team doesn’t have HOT, the other doesn’t play anymore which leaves just 4 of us who are active with HOT. We need a fellowship of Tyria to help each other clear guild halls. My team is willing to help your team. We’re on Tarnished Coast though that doesn’t mean anything anymore. If you’re interested in this fellowship, please message me (we can message here right?) or post here. Let’s try to get as many small guilds as we can together to clear guild halls.
The right attitude.^
10 kittens agree.
Why not just populate HoT with L99 mobs and force players to group? This PvE is still too easy.
What am I supposed to think being able to solo champs?
Make the AI more responsive to player attacks and strategy, please.
This would be amazing as long as the rewards scaled.
The guild arena size is way too small. OS was used for GvG’s prior to HoT release and that size allowed for kiting and restacking which is essential for these kinds of fights. GvG’s in this small guild arena is essentially a mess right now as some characters can hit you from across the arena. Teams with lot’s of aoe pressure can carpet the arena making it impossible to restack or avoid damage. If the arena size was closer to that of the coliseum in OS things would be better.
10/10 suggestion.
You can purchase Resonance after you unlock the workshop. That blasts through upgrades.
Badges of Tribute: Part 2
It’s so close.
I guess we won’t aim for the guild halls then
Thats the spirit!
This thread could use a dev response imo.
Guild Halls and the upgrade process. 10/10
Worst.Idea.Ever. Let people clear HOT content due CoF1 Farm? No thanks.
This. In an ideal setting I wouldn’t mind, but we have way too many exploits to enable this and not see it become irrelevant asap. Mind you maxing masteries really isn’t that long to begin with as its acc bound.
I have been a leader of a large PvX guild since Beta (oh my, it’s been 3.5 years). This post expresses my impressions with the new content introduced in HoT and opinions about what features are still needed.
Let’s start with the good. No one can deny that HoT has helped breath new life into guilds which had been stale for a while.
- Guild Halls have far exceeded my expectations – they are just phenomenal. Not only do they provide every guild with a home, but also give a set of long term goals to work towards. The upgrades may seem costly, but I think the prices are just right to make each upgrade to the guild hall feel like an accomplishment. The Aetherium and Favor time gates allow large guilds to have a sense of progression for their guild hall expansions instead of just rushing through everything.
- Guild Missions can now be started at any time, for free. This is great. People who don’t make scheduled mission times can now still get their personal rewards by getting a couple guildies to help them out.
- Multi Guild Chat is another awesome feature. It has enabled being and fully participating in multiple guilds at the same time.
- Message of the Day being posted in the chat window is nice QoL feature. I feel like the MotD was often overlooked in the past and now it can be used to relay messages to all members very conveniently.
- New Permissions related to the guild hall and bank access are a nice addition that makes ranks more meaningful.
- PvP Teams are a great addition for PvP guilds and PvP focused members in PvX guilds. The individual stat tracker for each team is sweet.
Thank you for those changes Anet, Guild Wars 2 really is the best MMORPG ever. With all that said, I still think there are quite a few features and minor changes that could really improve guild life even further:
- Admin Lower Ranks permission should be split up into into “Invite Members”, “Kick Members”, and “Change Ranks of Lower Members”. I made this suggestion in a similar post over 3 years ago. Is there a reason why Anet insists on combining these permissions into one?
- Treasury is a great feature. I think we should be able to deposit items directly from our bank though, like we can with crafting. This is a small QoL improvement that could go a long way in helping guilds expand. Furthermore, I think the contributions of members should be tracked in some way. The current treasury log which only tracks the last few dozen donations does not suffice. One easy solution would be to expose the log in the API so guilds that want that information can track it themselves, but of course an in-game tracker would be nicer.
- Ranks are still limited to 10. Especially now with the addition of new permissions, it would be nice to have more ranks available.
- Guild Missions have some mechanics that feel clunky. For one, Guild Rushes now force all members to wait until the mission timer expires before they are awarded their personal reward. This is harsh when everyone in the guild finishes a rush within 5 minutes and then has to hang out for 25 minutes waiting for their chests. PvP missions are currently a pain for large guilds, but they are a brand new feature so I’m sure Anet will make the necessary improvements as they receive player feedback. For example, the requirement of every party having to form an official team feels like overkill. Combine that with a broken search field on the team creation tab and you get a whole lot of overhead before being able to start some simple missions. In addition, missions that end as soon as the goal is met should track individual progress better. In large guilds, all too often players who participate in a mission don’t get personal chests because another team completed the mission before they could receive their ticks.
- Guild LFG that is built on top of the existing LFG system. It would be nice to have an LFG tab in the guild window that would show all the LFG groups that have any of your guildies. Here, they would not have to be split up by dungeons/areas.
- Guild Buffs have been nerfed to only allow one active buff at a time and they have to be manually refreshed with potions. I think this is a very poor implementation. The old way of having multiple active buffs and being affected by everything from the guild you are currently representing was much better. There was a lot of hype about HoT bringing permanent buffs obtainable through the guild hall, but this purchasable potion method leaves a lot to be desired.
- Mail Message Cap should be increased for guild members. I’m sure the 2 message cap is an artifact from an anti gold seller feature, but it makes sending messages 300+ members a huge pain.
- API Features are something I’m very much looking forward to but I’ve already listed those in My API Wishlist so I won’t go into detail. However, I will throw in this shameless plug – check out my guild’s Hall of Fame.
Lastly, although these are not feature requests, I want to point out a couple guild related bugs that will also help improve guild QoL.
- G in Guild Hall crashes the game. I’m sure this has been brought to Anet’s attention, but opening the guild window while visiting any NPC in the guild hall will cause your client to crash.
- Slow Loading Logs are a hurdle for guild management. In particular, some entries under Guild Roster can show up as “…” for up to 15 minutes before they load in.
- Guild Hall Instances… There should not be multiple instances of one guild’s guild hall. We want to see all our guildies who are in the hall.
Are there any important suggestions I missed? Please list them in comments and I will update this post.
100% agree with the majority of this. Probably the most comical piece is the ten rank limit. Granted im not a developer, but is increasing that limit really a taxing project?
