Elementalists have been crying for more survivability for a year. Here they are; Blinding Ashes and Stone Heart. Blinding Ashes gives you a defensive mechanism while going into a full Offensive trait line. Stone Heart rewards skilled elementalists who actually predict their enemy’s moves and manage their attunements properly instead of spamming available skills.
no reason to invest into fire traits. because our “defensive” earth trait line provides more offense than our “offensive” fire trait line.
nothing changes hambow/spirit rangers dont need to make crits, their AA gives them enough damage to kill ele without crits.
are new traits gives us builds diversity? yes, they are
will we have more survivability? no, another way to play, same way to die.

dodge rtl > 40 sec cd, no chance to escape.
classes with low base hp are supposed to play in active defense
guardian > aegis
thief – stealth, ShS
ele > …
incredibly high cd’s for CC and close gaps like rtl/LF
we are not against warrior has 18k hp, we are against same cooldowns. it’s obvious that something wrong if class with 10k has longer cd than 18k class.
lower health – lower cd. thief has initiative, ele – higher cd than warrior.

was quite easy with s/d LH (30/20/0/20/0) up to ~25lvl fotm. than I switched to fire staff (30/20/10/10/0). yesterday in grawl shaman 38fotm live better than 2 clerics guardians and ptv warriors.
full zerk +scholar + arcane brilliance. no break stun, no heal (except grawl shaman fotm) (coz you almost all time use it to blast fire).
Idk about celestial, but bers works good enough
The mist form nerf made the skill almost like a “self stun.”
that’s why i never use it. only 1 way to use it – when you cast icebow aoe to enemy raid full of retaliation. totally useless, when I see ele using it in spvp I think " well, you die 3 sec later, just in time my fresh air icd will be ready"

big nerf to fresh air/EA build, because that was only viable condi clean.
Bountiful Power: Damage increase per boon on the elementalist has been reduced from 2% to 1%.
similar traits was all nerfed, but we have that one in 25 minor GM.
transmute cry + bls kit. you get a lot from dailies.

If they sold it individually, the chest would cost around 500 gems and buying the entire set individually would cost 2-3x it does now.
Why? If they put price 133 gems per 1 part all will cost 798 gems. Only 2 less.
basic economic rule – you pay less for more. if they start sell pieces they will cost ~400-500. you have a lot examples in gem shop now. like masks/gloves/quiver etc
Elementalists are highly mobile and have teleports and above-average access to area healing.
are you sure about healing? shout warrior heals as good as ele, except they dont have water field, but they dont need them.
high mobility? blink 40 sec, rtl 40 sec. warrior rush 20 sec, whirlwind 10s, bull charge 40.
so dont tell me about mobility, heavy armored warrior with 30kg GS has more mobility than light armor mage with toothpicks.
18k ele counts as heavy bunker, while 18k warrior is just a base health.

This means that sigil of fire and of air won’t trigger, vigor on crit won’t trigger, burning and bleeding on crit won’t trigger.
sigils now be on-hit, not on-crit. but yeah, vigor on crit wont trigger, some on-crit traits too.
ooc swapping for ele would be nice. i am tired open my inventory every time I want to swap weapon. sometimes I am swapping weapons 5-7 times in one fotm run. lol
more reasons to make swap for ele:

s/d/x – semi-range, but all combos in melee, so it’s melee to
staff – range, yes, you can stand in melee with staff. it’s like using rifle/longbow warrior/ranger at point blank, same feelings.
but no way we got it. ppl just say “ooooh you are ele, you have 4 att.’s” . but they dont understand that our 4 att. have x2 cooldowns than any other weapons and 4 ele’s att. is at the same effectiveness lvl as 1 weapon for any other class.
fx. warrior hammer vs ele staff
warr CC 10s (f1), 20s(4), 30s (5) vs 40s (air5), 30s (earth4), 30s (air3).
warr can CC you every ~20s vs ~33s staff ele
let’s make more calc.
warr can trait hammer to reduce cd, and ele can trait only 1 att. if you want more you should trait another trait line, that can be useless for your build.
warr CC with reduced cd:
7,75s (f1), 16s(4), 24s (5) = ~ 15,91 → 1 CC every 16sec
ok. let’s trait ele CC in case we are so kewl we will reducing them all
32s (air5), 24s (earth4), 24s (air3) ~26,6 → 1 CC every 27sec
…ah. no. i don’t want to continue my idea. got bored and depressed.
BTW , in GW2 , The warrior is a bad example to compare skills, we know that Warriors are Anet preferred class.

to be effective as ele you need to att. dance, you are staying in 1 att. ~1-4sec.
fx. full d/d combo (air>fire>earth) is around 6-8 sec. so we can’t proc it every 5 sec.
ofc warrior with 5 sec will not swap every 5 sec. 7s is more real number.
what I want to say, even if someone make calculation, arcana will lose by all means.

if a warrior gets a FGS and uses Rampage while having 25 stacks of might and banners around him, he will blast anything off the map.

then why is my main, a necro, more powerful in general PvE and survives like mad?

ANet encouraging passive game play. why shall I use bers instead of soldier, if there is no big difference in dps, but ptv provides much more survivability, more mistakes, less skill involved.
yeah. condi bunker meta with auto atk spam. i am dissapointed, not because now i need more time to finish dungeon or fotm, but because no more reward for being squishy.now you ll be punished for using bers, well you are was punished using bers, but was rewarded.

air new gm trait is just terrible. rly awful. no idea how to use it in any scenario (wvw/pve/pvp). tempest defense is not so good trait x10 better then this trait.
maybe it make sense if we have a lot of interrupts like mesmer. but we have 1-2 interrupts on ~35sec cd. trait it for 5 sec for weakened? pff, no way. its just terrible, even doesnt deserve to be minor trait. maybe 5point maximum.
fire – not so good as i want, but add more diversity for builds, in some scenario can be usefull. good one
earth – hard counter to thief. so we will choose to counter condi’s or bers. very good, now its one of the best ele trait in line with fresh air/EA
water – support, with monk runes good at wvw and teamfights
arcane – no chance to take it over EA or El. surge. I like idea, but need more tweaks. but no idea how to improve it.
i dont care bout this trait. needed high skill for it, you must be enough skillful to use it, not just spam condi with staff or phantasm spam.
you know, countries have different economy and different costs for goods & services.
average wage ~250 $/m in CN Shanghai ->14$ ~5,6% of monthly wage
a. wage in Germany ~3100$ -> 50$ ~1,6% of monthly wage.

dont forget about blink on mesmer’s staff. bind key to turn you char and you can blink anywhere you want.
but yeah, 16s traited looks OP. 20s traited is ok. 25s not traited. and ofc it needs to break stun, that was huge nerf when they removed it. lol. nerfing the weakest class while hambow/spirit ranger still OP

one more idea. make achievement for finishing all traits challenge and reward…title I suppose, class specific that can only be visible on specific prof. like pvp titles (champ.magus , etc), but not so boring like they are

another “zerker problem” thread
tactic for ele (s/d) and thief (p/p & bow):
1. black powder spam > ele’s blast (~6-8)
2. swap to bow>shadow refuge
3. smoke screen > bow blast
4. swap to p/p > ele’s blast (~6)
cannon phase skipped
active phase:
headshot spam, icebow freeze in electric field > melee faceroll. repeat

not providing buffs/not taking buffs
cleric/ptv gear
dont know how to dodge (cuz they like to stand @1200+)
that’s why ppl don’t like rangers. take sword in mh, summon spirits, make proper build and you are welcomed in almost any party.

they’ve start working at it when gw2 was released. separate team work. they mentioned it 1 year ago or something. you can check last interview with devs (2-5 monthes old).
