I am the guild leader of Sekz/Rekz. Though I’m not much of a forum troll, I do enjoy reading what the keyboard warriors will post. It doesn’t matter if it’s directed towards me, my guildies, my server, or other servers, I just enjoy the read.
So concerning my guildies trash talking, I’m perfectly fine with it. I promote keyboard warriors. Every server has it. If you want a post written on a video game forum to ruin your day, so be it.
This doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy post written out of good sportsmanship or the occasional friendly cross server compliments. I just personally like colorful threads.
I think a lot of people would agree with me on this but I’d much rather prefer “Hey BP, we took your bay but you had a solid defence. You tried your best and that’s all that matters” instead of “EHMRY BAY DELIVERED BP TO THE DUMPSTER BP SUCKS”
Maybe me being Canadian has something to do with things I prefer.

So we’re getting into a debate now about the relativity of comparative adjectives…
In this case, harder doesn’t mean “not easy”, it means “not as easy”. I can see what OP is getting at, the health pool doesn’t feel the same as what you would face against a real opponent. Lets not get off topic here.
The NPCs make good punch bags when you’re testing out new builds. Also, they cheat and somehow use all the utilities available to a class at seemingly random cool down times. However, they don’t dodge but you can’t push them off convenient cliffs either :<
When you’re low level, grinding in wvw isn’t optimum. The rewards are scaled to your level, so in the end it takes the same amount of time to go from level 9 to 10 as it is to go from 79-80. I’d recommend you do crafting at low level if you have the gold to spend, which will let you skip out all the boring low level stuff, then get some map completions for the level 30-50 zones. After that, grind the rest in wvw, and also complete the orr maps because they are fast and easy and give good rewards. You can level up a new toon to 80 within a week or two doing this and come out 5-6g richer. The rest of your gear can be bought with karma which is really easy to earn from the wvw grind. If you’re level 80 and really need gold, you can just find a group farming CoF path 1 at gw2lfg.com and within an hour, you can easily get up to 3-5g without much effort.
The point I’m trying to make is, pve is incredibly easy especially for someone already skilled at spvp. It shouldn’t be an issue for you to be quickly geared if you ever decide to venture out into the pve world, and more importantly the levelling experience is fun and rewarding as well.
sPvP rank really means nothing other than you’ve farmed a lot of hotjoins. Match making is done using the hidden MMR which is also what the leaderboard ranks are based off. A low ranked team can get a high rating if they’ve won a streak of matches without losing, which then pits them against higher rated and ranked teams. It’s not a perfect system, but as your match proves, either your premade works well together to get a high rating game, or those r40 guys have a deservedly low rating. You’d naturally expect high ranked players to be better, and therefore have better ratings, but that’s far from the case.
I recommend you try out spvp in heart of the mists. There, everything is designed to be balanced and everyone gets the same level gear and stats. By playing in hotjoins and tournaments, you can get a feel of how playing against other classes work, because it’s an entirely different experience to pve. If you beat someone, or someone beats you, it wont be because of gear differences but because of skill.
NPCs have instant reaction time, they chase the thief as soon as he unstealths and unlike humans, they dont need to be able to see the model in order to target it. A thief now has to wait 3 seconds after coming out of stealth before he can restealth, which is plenty of time to get a reaction from NPCs. If you don’t see one, he’s probably hitting another gate and you need to get sentries at all of them.
It’s a valid tactic and about the most useful thing a thief can do in wvw.
I think the supply upgrade requirements is fine as it is. If your fellow guildies have upgraded supply, you could potentially be capping towers twice as fast with the same number of people when you’re running small groups.
I have no money woes. It’s not a question of affordability. I could finance as many gem purchases as I wish and pay to get ahead but, I simply wouldn’t want to do that. I’ve even been advised against crafting in this game as there is literally no way to make a decent in game living from it.
You should be able to work in game and make enough money to facilitate involvement in other aspects of the game but, it appears that this cannot be easily done in GW2.
Over monetisation is driving the product in a direction that is not entirely compatible with my gaming ethic. Despite it being a rare thing of beauty in gaming terms, it feels devalued by it’s uglier side, the focus on monetisation and profit at the players expense.
As stated previously in my original post, I’d be far happier contributing financially if I felt I was doing so voluntarily to support the devs/product. If I feel pushed into it, I’m far more likely to push back and withdraw that support. I’m also far more likely to leave the game completely and therefore reduce ANets income potential to £0.00
Better that they get a little of my money on a goodwill basis than get none at all. That’s basically what I’m saying here.
I think the “money” people are referring to is in-game gold.
I have to agree with the other posts, I’ve never bought gems and I’ve been able to get ahead just fine. GW2 is definitely not a pay to win game by any stretch of the imagination. You can gear your characters in full exotics for free from doing dungeons, and that’s all you need to be maximally effective in PvE/WvW.
Crafting wont be profitable until you max out the levelling, and even then it’s a matter of choosing the correct items to craft given the current market conditions. If you’re not interested in the trading post game, just playing the pve content should earn you enough money.

Did I miss something out in the last Brolis Rock Plans and Phases committee meeting? Or maybe some of your other commanders need a briefing?
I am proud of my Anvil Rockers!!! After a few guilds left us we dropped as far as Tier 8. Through persistence and loyalty we managed to make it to Tier 5 with the same 200-300 people. We only get transfers for our stellar tpvp/spvp community. Other then that it’s just training a bunch of new players week in and week out. With all this said…I hope our players continue to grow and learn.
I’ll let Ebay know now that we have like 8+ spvp servers filled every night. That is 16/16 people pvping NOT in wvw. AR is hands down the best spvp server. I swear your best wvw guild wouldn’t last two days in tpvp here! WvW is last on the list of things to do in GW2 on this server. I am not here to QQ, I am here to let you guys know, you will see the same 300 players (at various times) day to day.
Our WvW guilds would change the tide in any Tier if they were to transfer. But loyalty got us this far and I am happy to face a harder challenge in Tier 5. You guys can say “this” and “that” about our server but respect the fact that we got here without any mass transfers AND had to rebuild our WvW community.
I look forward to fighting in this Tier and everyone in it. AR is scrappy as kitten…
Cute coming from someone in AR, tonight we had most of our force pushing out in DH borderlands whilst AR were taking our stuff in EB aswell as taking camps from us in DH whilst we attacked the keep. DH has your castle and we have them distracted in their borderlands and you push on us in EB and DHBL? We’re already the weakest server without being ganged up on. Practice what you preach fellas.
In terms of strategy, that’s not a bad idea at all. SM takes time to treb down, and meanwhile we can get free point ticks from undefended objectives in EB. Why not?
Also, real props to IOJ, finally had some impressive real fights with you guys in EB last night. If you just had better coverage, you’d be on the rise again

Come on DH! There was like 6 of us pugs defending that tower, and no siege at all. A bunch of your dead guys also WP’d before I took this SS. I almost feel bad after doing this for the 6th or 7th time when you came poking at our towers.
My 2.7k armor engi got killed too by a smoke bomb dealing 6.7k damage…
And yes, they should nerf the mesmer/ele downed state. Mesmer deals way to much damage when downed and and ele’s mist form shouldn’t be able to go through gates. And WTF it has no cooldown…?? Really?
Warrior and engi have the weakest downed state, a warrior has a hammer that misses 80% of the time and rocks… His vegeance takes 6s before you can use it. It could as well not be there, because you barely get time to use it + it takes away the rally when an enemy goes down unless you trait into it.
Engineer has a grapple hook, which bugs out often too. And I think in all the time I have had my engineer I used the aoe knockback like 8 times? So that skill could as well just not be there.
ps.: long cd? I was fighting 2 players with my Engi, I downed the mesmer and before I could make the thief back off to spike the mesmer I got downed by a 6.7k smoke bomb…
Every class has the same initial cool down on their #3 downed skill. If you think vengeance “could as well not be there, because you barely get time to use it”, then that applies to mesmer phantasm rogue too. And vengeance most assuredly does more damage. If that mesmer you were fighting was a warrior, he could have vengeanced during the same time.
Why would you try stomp someone if you don’t have an invuln stomp handy, while he has a partner around in the first place? Downed does NOT equal dead and out of the game, and if you simply just DPS’d the mesmer down from a range and kept moving, the rogue wouldn’t have been able to hit you. If his partner tries to revive him, that’s a free kill for you.
This is just one example of how the down state is not balanced, as there are many others. Downstate needs to be normalized for all classes. The will never be equally balanced until they are normalized anyways. IF it was up to me, I would take all skills from the downstate except the ability to heal yourself and everyone has equal HP and Toughness when downed. That’s never going to happen so at least normalize the skills and HP/toughness pool for all classes.
How OP do you think mesmers feel when an ele stomps in mist form? Or when a thief stealths and there is no enemy to trigger the phantasmal rouge, or even the #2 downed skill to teleport away? Or any combination of “unstoppable” stomps available to practically every class in the game? We need to normalize all THOSE before we normalize downed state skills.
We should nerf all the classes until everyone has the same health and toughness and skills. Actually screw that, there should only be one class and one build because god forbid creative play, we want absolute balance.

Many big battles tonight with Anvil Rocks [ALS] and [SOS]. My guild thoroughly enjoyed the fights tonight. They preferred just roaming and constantly fighting than taking keeps and towers now.
Haha kitten yes, enjoyable fights with [SE] today in ARBL. You guys have an annoying tendency to be everywhere at once with a golem or three. Especially when BP is also on the other side of the map.
I still stand by my statement that NSP outplayed AR, we kept it closer than you have ever been able to, and the only reason why it was opened up is because of the irresponsibility of AR in attacking NSP to secure a 2nd place “victory” for themselves.
The point I’m trying to make is that AR couldn’t outplay us even if they try. The reasons the matchups were so close is because NSP would attack the server that’s attacking to keep it in check. I hope you guys enjoy your 2nd place “victories” because that is the best you will ever do.
NSP is always last because they have lower pop than AR and BP, AR is always 2nd because we have lower pop than BP, end of story.
Lol I retract my statement about bandwagonning. They have a god complex thing going on for them. What they will do is transfer to a rival server in your matchup (possibly the one coming last), establish an alliance which they will naturally lead, take all the credit for any advancements the server makes, then abruptly leave the moment something doesn’t go their way.
The problem with NSP is a certain guild who inherited the server because all guilds left. They believe they own the server and dont understand that peeps play for fun and that they dont answer to a certain guild. When you here things like APPROVED Commaders, you just want to laugh. They get upset if you put your commander tag on in wvw because they afraid pugs will leave them for the other commander, i stated if you are so good pugs will follow you no matter what other commander tag is on. Pugs followed them in the past because that was there only option. Certain attitudes need to be fixed here b4 NSP can get better. God i hope they can open upen server transfers for free for one week because i dont see things getting better here for a long time
I’ll be blunt. When I read stuff like this, I wish a certain guild hadn’t transferred to NSP. I’m not mentioning anyone by name, so there is no reason for this to be removed. This guild thinks they can fix everything, because they are so good, but the impression of this certain guild is sub-par.
Well, today I turned up to jormag event with the rest of the guild, and there were about 10 commanders chilling there with a nice zerg, while our BL was turning to cheese. Should’ve gotten a screenie.
PvE is all the rage now, so much rare drops Not to mention the guild missions. Fun stuff. Wvw gonna take a back seat for a while.

I agree and it doesn’t take a backround like yours (OP) to see that pve is the focus of this game. Pvp will never get the attention it needs at this rate, I figured even wvw would get more love.
Wvw love? Are you kidding me? Read the wvw forum page, there’s probably just as much QQ threads around. I can’t even remember the last update they did in wvw except to remove orbs a few months ago, and then to remove all the pve environmental weapons. Simple exploits such as jumping right through towers/keeps took them FOREVER to fix.

Sure we have our fair share of fail moments, but since I can recall a few of PAXA’s own as well, I don’t see why you feel necessary to go on and on about how ALS is full of bad players. Based on my own sample size of personal experience, I can justifiably say the same thing back.
A few ALS players seem to have a problem with a few PAXA members, so lets make a deal. I won’t generalize anything about you guys, and you wont do the same back. Are we all happy?
ALS groups consistently wipe to smaller groups. Let’s make a deal, if you don’t want to take responsibility for the wiped bads, kick them from your guild so it won’t be an issue anymore. Take the responsibility rather than trying to bury the truth.

I’m sorry we’re not PvP elitists, but the fact is we invite all the wvw newbies we come across so they can have a community to belong to and learn from. We’re a huge guild, but the bulk of the ALS zerg are all inexperienced newbies, and we’re trying to teach them. From what I’ve seen today, it’s been a particularly successful day, we’ve all had some fun and accomplished a bunch in wvw, and that’s all that matters in the end. Our responsibility here isn’t to be pvp pro heros, its to give casual players a chance to enjoy themselves as an organised team.
Anyway, when I run tight parties in enemy BLs, I’ve had my fair share of zerg busting fun as well. This includes screwing PAXA zerg balls over on occasion. You don’t see me saying, oh maybe you should ostracise all your newbies because they suck and are totally useless. And give you a really bad name. That’s what your attitude is coming across to me as.

Why are necros ranked so low? In any group battle or even duo, if you have a necro sitting in the back dropping conditions like crazy, it’s almost a guaranteed wipe for the enemy team if they aren’t prepared. They aren’t the best at solo, but sPvP is about teamwork right?
At least legendary rewards are tangible. You can show them off to someone. “Prestige” of racking up player kills is unverifiable. There’s no way for another person to objectively tell how many people you’ve killed.
I wish “fun” was enough of a motivation for me.
If you are playing a game to “show off” that you’ve played a game enough hours to get a different set of non-existent pixels for your non-existent item, rather than for fun, you need to seek professional help.
But anyway, back to the OP, quite how PvP in a PvP zone ruins things is a mystery, if you don’t like PvP don’t enter WvW.
WoW progression, what more do I have to say. There’s a whole market out there for these kinds of people
