In some dungeons I’m the healing juggernaut, not fully flamethrower specialized, yet I’m able to deal decent AoE damage

Ignore the stats and items, as it’s PvP builder and I’m talking about PvE setup
I’m using pistols or elixir gun in some situations, so the improved range feels useful
From inventions line movement speed and healing to power is just yes please
From alchemy, condition damage feels the most useful, even if I have around 1040-1050 vitality, it’s still like +50~53 condition damage

I’m wearing rampager armor (crit/cond) and cleric trinkets (pure power!), getting really decent survivability and plain dmg + nice burns

There are different kinds of servers. Those who are playing on either PvP/WvW/roleplay one would get hurt pretty much. As they participate in many events, they don’t really grind open world or dungeons, so they’re lacking on mats and some specific items. On the other hand, they got pretty much gold, which becomes worthless when market is empty
What comes to my mind is Poland in 1950-1989, everyone had pretty much money, but there were no wares people could buy. Market was closed, there were no imported goods and the government was performing really poor at establishing strong agriculture. When there was a fresh delivery to any shop, the queues of potential clients were huge, everyone was camping at shops to get any stuff, because they knew it’s a pretty rare occasion. If prices weren’t be set by government, the shopkeepers would for sure raise the prices

Now look at the other servers. Those where people are mostly farming mats and gear, yet some of them don’t have that much money (they’re skipping many events etc). Everyone has much more goods than they would ever need (especially that the most of people are not even crafting), so who would like to buy this stuff? Noone, completely noone. TP would get flooded, people would use that as second storage, because they can’t keep so many mats, yet trashing them/selling to NPC is still a waste

Both situations are really bad. Add precursors and other rare stuff to this. What if your server has low population and you need something rare or just got something rare for sale? How can you make sure that it would result in successful transaction in fairly short time period? What if you wouldn’t find desired item/sell your loot for weeks?

When traveling zones easier than Orr – Medkit (with elixir B I’m stacking almost permaswiftness without traits)
Underwater – Elixir H (burst heal I need, tossing without aiming)
Orr and party activities – Healing Turret (nice burst for me and 2 fields I need for the others)

Don’t forget about firearms 25 – 5% increased damage against bleeding foe, basically after your 1st auto-attack. So, what you’re gaining:

  • Firearms 20 + 10 in random tree – more utility, losing 5% dmg (it’s like losing superior sigil) and pretty much AoE dmg
  • Firearms 25 + 5 in random tree – increased damage, the only useful utility trait comes from alchemy (free elixir B ), loss of AoE dmg
  • Firearms 30 – increased damage, few times more explosions, great chance to damage oponents trying to hide behind tanks or destroyable obstacles, if you’re lucky – dealing up to triple damage to a single enemy (this situation is rare, yet possible)

This p/p remake is just wrong… Poison dart volley is my spammable single target attack, yet with piercing shots works nice too. I’d never put 10 points in explosives just for random burn when I have pretty strong blowtorch, at cooldown of 12 seconds (traited). Also I see no reason to put bleeding in your new pistol #2, we have bleed just on basic attacks, enough. Even if it’s weak, it’s matter of buffing our auto-attack, not changing the whole weapon to burn more often. If bleed duration would be increased by 1 second we could stack enough bleeding to make it deal real dmg

There is a reason why poisoning skill has cooldown of 10 seconds and burning one – 15 seconds. Condition damage scales much better with burn, so it’s obvious that burn becomes rarer condition. Also by picking shield, you’re choosing strong defensive/cc option at the cost of highest dmg skill, that’s fair enough. While using shield (in PvP/WvW) I prefer to have AoE poison over burn, for the healing debuff

2 cents from me:

  • In case of update bugging a dungeon, it’s always better to completely revert changes and let us do the old version of dungeon till the final solution will come, it wouldn’t hurt anyone, people were not exploiting in SE
  • I don’t really know what do you mean by fixing those bugs, if it’s reverting recent changes, or making this dungeon more difficult, but not that much. I’d be really glad if you were more specific

Flame blast could use ground targeting, to make sure that it won’t pierce the ground and explode somewhere under the map. Also it would make possible detonation in range shorter than 600. As for such changes it could even get increased cooldown (up to 9 seconds), I don’t really care, just make it something better than just fight initiator

Your guildie told you what wiki says, but it’s bullkitten. Eveyrone is getting 1 stack of every tool at the same point of personal story. I tried those tools, that’s how they worked for me:
Harvesting sickle – darksteel
Logging axe – darksteel
Mining pick – not sure about this, as I used like 3 of them to gather silver. But then it’s at least steel, I believe would work with gold fine, maybe even with platinium

I just did the path 3 which was said to be untouched (despite of lava correction)…

  • Lava is burning while it doesn’t even appear to be placed, normal route with cold-looking ground. Also it might randomly pop, when I’m standing in the same place I’m starting taking dmg after like 10-15 seconds, for no reason. No visual effects ofc, only lava debuff icon
  • All of the monsters are hitting harder, I can’t tank as much as before
  • Something happend to the final boss, burning applied by fire fields is at least 2x stronger. Also it’s applied more often
  • On final boss stage whole party might go down for no reason, even if they’re not burning and have no mobs on them, some invisible forces are attacking all of them

Maybe the matter is that supporting engineer tries to stay in the middle, between allies and mobs. I’m trying to catch everyone in AoE healing (both turret and super elixir) and sometimes toss elixir B. In addition to this throw minefield and burn mobs before retreating (ofc if mobs are moving around). My boyfriend is often qqing when I’m not doing dungeons with him, because random parties (without skilled support engi) don’t have a real tank like me, and everyone is getting wiped faster. They simply got lazy at dodging/healing while having me xD

I got the most of tokens for my SE set and now it’s all ruined… As supporting engineer I’m grabbing all the aggro no matter what, both golems from path 2 were always focusing me, it was hard enough to survive it (noone has unlimited dodge) -.-
About grenadiers – there was pretty much player feedback, about fight in tight corridor (lack of mobility), their health being higher than for the most of bosses. As I’m finding pre-patch SE a perfect dungeon, the 15-min afk was the only thing which needed work, for sure not this way. You did the same thing as with CoF path 2 (planting bomb), made much worse to punish players for avoiding poorly designed content. As for me it would be even bereable if there were max 2 grenadiers in every wave or 4 bronze/silver with low health. People were skipping them for a serious reason, it’s just plain impossible to leave 3-4 people with grenadiers and 1-2 on bosses, it’s sure wipe

I did some researches in 3 different dungeons:

Citadel of Flame:
Path 1 – average aggro
Path 2 – aggro from the final boss the most of time
Path 3 – aggro from the final boss a bit more often than other party members
I had rampager/weapon armor (all CoF runes) and cleric trinkets, using dual pistols (piercing shots), traits 0/30/30/10/0

Sorrow’s Embrace:
Path 1 – grabbing aggro from singularities almost all the time, golems in minefield are always pulling me first, final boss is focusing me all the time, unless I’m not attacking anymore
Path 2 – grabbing aggro from trash mobs the most of time, minor bosses tend to focus me a little more than the others, final golem bosses are targeting me over everyone else until I’m dying
Path 3 – same as above, on final boss stage the most of destroyers are chasing me, hard to take their aggro off me
I had rampager armor (3 CoF runes/3 SE runes) and cleric trinkets, dual pistols (piercing shots) and flamethrower, traits 0/30/30/10/0

Crucible of Eternity:
Path 2 – average aggro on trash mobs, subject alpha tends to imprison me in crystal more often than the others. The final boss (not counting 3rd subject fight) is poisoning and bleeding me much more than anyone else
I had rampager armor (3 CoF runes/3 SE runes) and cleric trinkets, dual pistols (piercing shots) and flamethrower through the first half of dungeon, traits 0/30/30/10/0

No idea why, but the most of people are finding SE gear ugly, maybe because it’s not medieval/reneisance, nor steampunk themed. Dark asuran weapons are pretty nice, but they rather fit CoE armor than SE one. SE armor is nice for engineers, looks the best on asura, average on humans/norn, just strange on sylvari and complete fail clipping/stretching on charr. I think it’s more of roleplaying armor than classic profession/regional set. Somewhat postapocalyptic/Fallout themed as for me

Don’t forget about pretty nice defensive runes from this dungeon, nice for guardians

Excuse me, but what’s the logic behind starting the event in the late evening in America while in Europe it’s night/early morning (said by someone living in GMT+3 zone)? Isn’t in better to launch the event in the early afternoon (it would last till the night for sure, enough time for american players) and let european players do this event in the (fairly early) evening?

ASUS EAH6850, in fact it’s Radeon HD 6850, full DX11 support. Running with the most of setting as high, only shaders and enviroment are set as medium, as I don’t like everything painfully shiny. Oh, and reflections off, no need to make the game laggy for no reason

Let’s say I’m white and I really hate black/yellow/<put a color> people, finding my race as superior (white supremacy). Would I use name/character appearance related to them to offend them? I don’t think so, real white supremacist would never make his character any similar to hated ethnic groups, as those groups are considered as inferior beings

Let’s say I’m black and I made my character with dark skin (similar to mine) and afro, because it’s related to culture of my nation. I’ve put afro in my name, to show the others that I’m proud of my origin. Almost same as others are putting words related to their (mostly european) nations

Let’s say I’m white/random, yet very tolerant person. I love roleplay and I’m finding games having mostly white content, so I’m making a black/yellow/<put a color> character for some kind of balance and promotion of different ethnic groups. I’m clothing them up like the groups it’s supposed to belong to, I’m giving them a culture-specific name, trying to care about every little detail of roleplay

All those white racism restrictions are pointless. Remember, devs and random players you’re encountering every day can never know who is owning this account. What if this anti-racism code is turning against non-white people (who are meant to be protected by this code) or white, yet tolerant people? This is the biggest insult you can make. Silly paradox, multiculturalism promotion is killing any multiculturalism features in real life and virtual worlds

I don’t agree with:

  • Mob threat rework – it should be based on some kind of threat, otherwise many group activities would make no sense
  • Respawn time increase – just slight increase and in very few spots. Monsters can make normal exploration barely possible, just look at Orr
  • Infinite bleed stacking – no, it would make possible to repeat many events much faster, like it wasn’t be fast enough now
  • Rare mats in low level zones – this is pure bullkitten, they’re called rare for a reason, it has to be harder to obtain them
  • Gear drops based completely on current level – as leatherworker I’m saying NO. It’s actually hard enough to obtain enough leather, loot bags are way too random to be a stable source of leather/fabric, salvageable junk (like leather scraps) is too rare
  • Green items drop rebalance – it’s fine as it is. Those random green drops are making up for waypoint costs and making minor incomes
  • Mob scaling during DEs – amount of mobs spawned depends of current amount of players in DE zone. Getting swarmed is actually more difficult to counter than having few stronger mobs
  • Downed state – all those changes are huge NO. Downed state is our second chance, so we’re not getting pwned for every single mistake. 3 sec cast just for death is worse than ridiculous. Downed state needs a slight balancing done on numbers, not whole skill mechanics
  • Quickness nerf – would make any sense only if they would remove debuff applied along with quickness
  • Body shot rework – spammable snare for just 3 initiative? No ty, vulnerability is pretty fine and more useful on champions
  • Shadow assault rework – as for melee weapon and evasive nature of thief, current skill is nearly perfect
  • WvW orbs increasing rewards – being additionally rewarded for outnumbering enemies is plain sick and unfair
  • Shorter cast time on finisher – it’s like that on a purpose, giving downed player any chance to affect the enviroment before dying
  • ELO rankings – no, many games have proven that it’s way too complicated to be correctly applied to MMOs

Super elixir scales with healing power pretty well. I was running a dungeon with another engineer, build 30/?/0/?/? (grenadier) while mine is 0/30/30/10/0. We were downscaled to lv 75. I had cleric trinkets (all green), another engi had no healing power at all. My elixir gun was healing for around 190 per tick, while other engi’s was like 95 per tick. Exotic trinkets would raise healing to ~250 I believe

From what I’ve seen healing power is good for turret because it scales with both self heal and water combo fields. Not as greatly as with super elixir, yet still, there’s like 20-25% bonus to instant AoE heal

Game is decent, yet in early phase offers kinda little to me (in comparition to classing RPGs). Just started doing PvP with guardian (1st time played this class) and I even liked it. Still hoping to find an established party for Sorrow’s Embrace, coz on Whiteside Ridge everyone is doing only story mode. I’m not playing every day, but if so – I’m playing for few hours at least

My boyfriend is 19 as well, but he’s forever a kid, got completely bored of this game, even doing monthly achievement is painful for him now. He did ragequit after ranger shortbow nerf, didn’t want to switch to axes or longbow, or eventually make a new character. Now he’s only farming Jormag event

I’m doing all paths of SE, I don’t really have major problems with any of them. I’m finding path 2 harder than path 1, mostly because of getting swarmed by too many monsters. Actually avoiding grenadiers from 1st path is much easier, your team just has to know what they should pass on and how to place the team members

If anyone would like to take an engineer (p/p, elixir gun, cleric trinkets, rampager armor) to this instance, I’m playing on european server, Whiteside Ridge

It’s true that keys should be bought to maintan the game servers, however I’m finding them pretty expensive. I’d really like to buy more of them in a single pack, like 10-15
Suggestion #1: in addition to 5 keys bundle make 10 or 15 keys bundle. Ofc cheaper per single keay again, like 800 gems for 10 keys or 1200 gems for 15 keys

The game itself provides extremely little amount of keys, many people are that unlucky that they can’t even find out how many kinds of rewards they can get from those chest. I know we can also rarely get them from daily achievements, but it still requieres us to be insanely lucky
Suggestion #2: add a guaranteed key to monthly achievement reward
Suggestion #3: increase droprate for special monsters in open world:
Veterans – slight increase, 10-20%
Champions – 100% (make those long events worth anything, give us double chance to drop a key here)
Epic monsters – 200% (they spawn pretty rarely, triple chance sounds decently, as there’s always a gear chest)

You simply don’t know rangers can spam pretty much AoE with axes or have piercing shots, summon some useful spirits, put pet to revive someone, use pet to lure specific mobs. Also they have one of rare water combo fields

Someone mentioned guardian as class which never gets negative comments. Well, I met many guardians using greatsword and scepter/torch, it so miserable… I’d rather go with mace/focus + staff or mace/focus + hammer, even being not traited for those weapons. It’s not really hard to have even green/yellow weapons of this kind in little invisible bag
I’ve also never seen guardians doing better healing than my engineer. Guardians have no water fields, I have 2 of them + super elixir. Ofc mace guardian spams healing like mad, but random guardians are rarely using this weapon

It’s working on the caster as well, but has pretty small splash range, easy to miss it when you’re tossing while running. You need to cast it max 1.5m away from you. Also it can affect up to 5 targets, depending on exact cast spot might not affect you in bigger crowd. Not sure about it, but I think it sets prior to the nearest targets. I don’t know if it counts ranger pets as separate targets

Boon duration stacks normally. When you’re getting might from drinking and tossing elixir when it’s about to end, you’ll have 2 stacks for only few seconds, then older stack will expire, leaving only the new one. Other boons are stacking in duration, let’s say you drank elixir and have 5 seconds of swiftness remaining. Tossing would give you a new boon or add another 10 seconds to swiftness (so you have 15 sec together)

I’ve been using gear looking like rouge set (lv 80 rare), but what I bought had the same look, was lower level and was green. Item icons had dark green background, like for this coat:

It was looking pretty decently, gentle coat, I could dye it as classic leather and put purple shirt (color of our profession). Pants were looking pretty nice dyed as iron, kinda like old-style jeans. The only problem was helmet, as leather pieces are mostly stupid masks. I tried monocle below, but was colliding with my hair too much, so I’ve decided to hide the helmet forever

Depending on your college;
Statics – talking much, not really active in deeds. Typical smartass who knows all sophisticated words and terms and will beat everyone in conversation
Dynamics – talking pretty little, insanely impulsive and fast in deeds. Running around, dancing, using many emotes. Violent in solving many cases
Synergetics – more balanced, leaves more freedom in roleplaying. I’d say unpredictable and inquiring are describing them the best. Also it might be the local troll. Violency is familiar to them, especially when ‘researching’ more synergies

Guild Wars 2: 55€ – 3 weeks played (every single day), got bored, it will be like that till the next expansion or full dungeon fixes (SE, be more popular pls :<)

Now for comparition, the other games which are feeling as single player as GW2:
VtM: Bloodlines: 20€ – whole game passed at least 8 times (more than 1 month), fan-made mods are giving another month of fun. Game was poorly developed, yet still the lore/background works like magnet
Jade Empire Special Edition: 2,5€ (yes, so cheap in my country) – whole game passed 3 times at different difficulty levels (almost a month), still didn’t master all fighting styles and techniques
Fallout 3 (with all DLC): 20€ – whole game passed 2 times, normally and with Brotherhood of Steel (almost a month), still didn’t explore many locations, for sure I’m gonna play at least 1 more time. Maybe some day I’ll play the rest of DLC
Saints Row 3: 40€ – game fully passed only 1 time, but it doesn’t matter. I’m jumping into any saved game and doing whatever I want, never getting bored of it. For sure almost a month played

I’m not finding GW2 worth all this money. It seemed to be AT LEAST as interesting as the games above, but came out to be incredibly boring Maybe it’s just me, but it’s caused by terribly fast leveling and poorly developed end-game content. Reaching level 80 should take at least 2x more time
I don’t really know why, but I’m finding dynamic events more boring than classic repeatable quests in other MMOs. Maybe because they’re too fast, again same problem. Over certain period of time, we can do few times more turns of the same event than turns of the same classic quest. Also events are never including real traveling
PvP is pointless, repeating the same content all the time makes sense in MOBA games, there are elements of strategy and huge variety of tactics, but sadly MMORPG will never meet all those conditions. Collecting glory and advancing in ranks is not motivating enough, in MOBA games we’re getting some kinds of ranks and reward points, but it’s not the reason why we’re playing them
WvW is far different from either MOBA strategy or classic GvG, it’s something really huge and almost uncontrolable, I’m always feeling like I wasn’t be affecting the current state of fight. Also it lasts way too long to be able to change anything when something goes wrong or your server is just unlucky this time
Dungeons are still a bit bugged/unbalanced, those issues are getting fixed over time and I’m glad for it. But there’s no point doing the same dungeon more than X times, as tokens are exchanged only for gear and some useless consumables. After getting even 2 different sets (let’s say PvE and PvP one) there’s no reason to farm tokens anymore. And farming items/materials is just a joke with recent drop nerfs

Piercing shots are letting you damage almost 2 times more enemies when they’re grouped up together, it’s insane source of long range dmg in some parts of dungeons and swarm-type events

Second pistol scales really well with main hand abilities. Blowtorch requieres almost melee range to be the most effective. First goes Dart Volley, it’s the most effective at short range, like 500-600, every dart is hitting the enemy. Then you can use Static Shot to prevent you from being hit (and deal confusion dmg), then Blowtorch and dodge backwards, eventually leaving Glue Shot

My thief is female norn, I made her as tiny as possible. She’s ginger, face full with freckles, that’s why she’s wearing anonymity hood. Noone would expect such childish norn to be deadly (almost like Pippi Langstrumpf)

I’m not using stealth really often, rather bouncing between enemies using daggers. Norn woman is strong herself (mostly power items), she’s hitting pretty strong even with the tiniest daggers. I tried to use sword, but it’s kinda slow and provides too little mobility. Also my norn is ‘tiny’ enough to be swift in combat

From what I’ve seen super elixir was removing at least 2 conditions on landing and projectile finishers were never working. I guess it’s kinda bugged. But still, super elixir>antidote

Not sure about fumigate condition removal, but if it’s really working, then fumigate>antidote

1. For healing the best are trinkets and eventually armor, weapons should have offensive stats for your attacks without medkit

2. Antidote should remove all conditions. Elixir gun can remove all conditions from 5 people every 20 seconds (and leaves long light combo field, healing over time and so on), so antidote as single target spell could have same cooldown as now and remove all conditions

3b. It’s not gonna work. When you’re immobilized you can’t run over the antidote and even if you’re throwing it directly at character, it’s not working. I think dropping directly at someone should have same mechanics as dropped elixirs, just tiny radius, so precision in placement would be rewarded

My asuran engineer sounds like a heavy boulder falling on the ground when she’s jumping. Maybe it’s one of equipment sounds, but I’m not sure. I have almost full CoF set and pants transmuted like 2 weeks ago

People don’t want elementalists in dungeons coz the most of them are fire eles saying that they’re using only fire stance, because they’re traited only for fire skills (bullkitten, you always have more than 30 trait points). I know not every elementalist is like that, but the noobish majority is ruining reputation of this class
I had like 2-3 runs with fire elementalists, never saw them changing stances or using 6-0 skills which would really help the party. When I pointed benefits from switching stances they said I’m noob who never played elementalist and they’re using the only good stance and making the best dmg in whole party. But the problem is they were dying all the time and making less dmg than anyone else
Now I’m asking every elementalist about overall build and tactics, ignoring every single of them would be sometimes huge loss. Still, there are very few good elementalists around :<

It seems there’s unmentioned change. Before the update I did this path at least 5 times, monsters were respawning every 30 seconds. Now they’re respawning in like 20 seconds, so there’s no second chance for synchro if we kinda fail

Fire golem gets healing out of conditions applied to him. So basically don’t use any attacks applying conditions. As I’m dual pistols condition specced engineer, I’ve swapped to a rifle just for this fight. Other classes should do the same, deal crit dmg rather than condition DoT. Also every condition removal and strong regeneration allow you to survive for like a minute (if you’re healing specced, then even 2 minutes), enough for running back from the waypoint. Generally this fight requieres you to pick as many survival spells as possible, light/water combo fields are also helping a lot

Healing Mist lasts for 1 second, it’s the best to use Rocket Boots or Throw Mine. Mine will often fail, I don’t really know why, even insta-smashing the mine key is not always working

Healing Turret needs around 0.5 sec delay between placing and detonation, it’s not spraying instantly. Basically whenever you hear the top of turret rotating, you’re detonating. Don’t really trust the visual effects

About combo healing (tested in the mists, every value at least 2 times):
350 healing power – 1390
1223 healing power – 1565

CoF path 3 (Tribune) – around 45 minutes (there were no fails/party wipes, but no speedrunning)
4 people (including me) got 60 tokens
1 person got 30 tokens

4-6 minutes break for selling stuff etc

CoF path 2 (Gaheron) – around 25-30 minutes (no fails/party wipes, no speedrunning)
3 people got 60 tokens
I’ve got 45 tokens (same situation as yesterday, missing 30 in total now)
1 person got only 5 tokens (the one who had 30 before)
