@Kelthien, for pve/dungeons/events i run my 0-20-20-0-30 build normaly but I change most in for berzerker, 1560 toughness is lovely in wvwvw but for instance some extra dmg is better. I feel I hold up dmg well, I have no problem tagg stuff in general and the survival etc is wery good, If you run a mist type of shatter build and get hit by aoe/res stuff on ground you most likely failed hit aimmuniy in time.

Also I change my utilitys after battle, often use feedback in instances and portal + timewarp.

What so good with the 0-20-20-0-30 build is that ids wery adaptable and I feel I can do whatever I like with it, wvwvw, pve dungeons etc. I just swap gear and utilitys.

For wvwvw I want to bump the value of a frontline fast moving build for roaming. I sometimes run in a 4-5 man team on low populated hours, can move from target to target like the windand hit alot bigger teams/stop em from capping.

For mid sice teams (10-15) a heavy toughnes crid dmg based shatter build is invaluable for the frontline abttle, place portals without die and stomp/down easy targets.

Latley I had quite fun look for commanders in bigger teams, wait untill they 60% hp blink in burst em down and portal stomp them Its pure love

I do alot of dueling aswell to practice versus different builds, so far I have not found a player specced like pyro, wery interested in how Shatter Cat Mist would work versus The Immortal build

@Kelthien, I run a 0-20-20-0-30 build that I feel wery strong in, enought dmg to take down full accended geared staff guardians in 1 vs 1 and survival to not be squishy. The mobility are extreme.

Atm I mostly play Shatter cat Mist 0-20-20-0-30, this as it offers everything a mesmer want for roaming. Superb survival, fantastic movment and enought burst to down a staff tank guardian in a 1 vs 1. I dont get bursted down by glascannon thiefs and I can escape gank teams to suddenly turn back and pick of ppl.

Seems most shatter mesmers run 20-20-0-0-30, this spec is extremly fun aswell but can only talk good of the0-20-20-0-30 specces aswell.

@Avdima, yes rabid stats is the strongest as they provide both longöasting survival and dmg.

@Khal Drogo, love how you make it sound like leet pve rading talking about bosses in GW2 dungeons and how you need x skill etc.

In fact the GW2 pve dungeons is a jun thing to do when you have some time left, thye are in no way challangching and as far from the organiced pve rading you could see in for example “Black Temple 25 man rading in world of warcraft back in the burning crusade”. You make it sound like the 5 man team need the tw to accive somthing simmilar to beat Illidan lol.

If you in fact been discussing the impact on a change on hardcore rading boss in a game you could been take serious, now it just sound silly.

@Kahl Drogo, i fully understand why pyro got bored of take your bait, eather you extremly ignorant and have no idea what he mean or your trolling, im on the second here.

Its like they nerfed armourcarts, you go " Omg they nerfed mesmers, I use armourcarts" then somone enlighten you that al classes can use armourcarts and you aswer, “well what would you like if they nerfed…. staff dmg” .

Well staff dmg is mesmer specific… so is shatters…. see where this going? Yepp, speed buff is nerfed for al classes and its not a mesmer specific nerf. Same lack of dmg you get the enemy recive aswell.

@Op, I Made a irritated post about ppl just see the bad of every patch and ignore al syrgies and good stuff. Then deleted it as it was using referenses to how kidds argue about lemonade in two similar glass and cry howmatter you pour.

In simple words, let me try again.

Specced to surf the patches mesmers got constant buffs sens december. Not 1 month have gone without us getting a buff. Yes some patched got a nerf but always to tone down a recent buff or on the side of a other buff.

Example the january might nerf was a nerf + a buff and also the nerf of the might was smaler than the buff month before…. ressult, 1+3 – 2 > 1. You get a big buff, smal nerf and endup stronger than before the first buff.

What you negative ppl miss also is look at the professions we fight patches.

Sight, just stop, you can in no way claim our clas got constant nerfs mr. We got constant balancing and in the end we accualy stronger now than we was a few month back.

You are wrong in every possible way.

@Dasboa, I might try it as I try everything to be able to give a oppinion, but even if the gs is good for aoe purposes the utility is unafected and staff remain the shatter mesmers best friend in my opinion. What make me a happy cat is the buff to sword leap as the cd reducing is fixed. This is amazing especialy towards d/d eles who hate cripples over al else. Also the fix(?!) to thiefs stealth ( and ours ina way) will accualy help us as this class was and is one of our threats as we move in same areas.

Overall this was a Fantastic patch for us Mesmers, the specces I play and manege on this thread have got constant buffs sens december, Mesmers remain a top class for wvwvw.

@Teamkiller, I talk from wvwvw and innhere I absolutley love work in sma team with a guardian, alot as hes imbilize and lockdowns let me land full bursts on enemy players. Only downside I see is for him, if we get jumped by a unbeatebal number of ppl I nearly always survive due to blinks etc while the guardian when started a fight need to win it or die on hes post.

@Atomsk, Rune of air, speed buff in wvwvw is invaluable and not possible thru orbs. For the dmg part its hard calculate exact how many k dmg / 10 seconds the extra stats are worth, but a 3-6k hit every 10 sec is ALOT unless you go manly for pve. Also the fact it hit thiefs on proc the instant they attack you before rendered out of stealth, they hit enemys when you proc a retaliation hit etc etc make it a superb burst tool and again its alot better than orbs.

@My sweet Lilly, interesting setyp and especialy for dunegeons this seem like a extremly strong setup.

That Hammer Warrior was awesome. He beat me every profession I played, had a 10 minute fight among others with my Ele, nearly beat him with an experimental Mesmer build I was using, and he beat my new experimental CC DPS Warrior build (I usually run Mace/Mace full PVT, was trying GS/Hammer with some knights, but with same traits). Very tough!

Also, the 5v5 and 6v6 we did were good, although we got beaten thoroughly :P

Hes cc timing was the best I seen in a while, I used portal, blink staff leap and stealths, it was enought stunbrakers and mobility to counter it but he dint go down easy.

The 5 vs 5 was good idd, felt we had a disadvantage as we was 2 guilds on split ts,s, got our kitten kicked idd.

You making sure to get the daze/vuln setup for the burst? Beside that I bit on wrong side of the fece talking in TPvP matters as Im mainly a wvwvw mesmer. There thu our burst is outstanding, one of the game strongest.

OK I going to be bald here and say drop the confusion part totaly for Image. How would it be if the torch less focused on dmg and more on utility?. Make the phantasm a cc Phantasm. Let it istead of 3 sec confusion apply a 2 sec immobelice on first hit, bonce apply a 2 sec cripple and 3rd bounce a daze.

We already have good dmg dealing phantasms, thos would let a phantasm mesmer have a stable cc without be forced into gs.

Thoughts?

@Archinos, interesting vid, curious thu of why you pick retaliation on shatter over 3% dmg/clone alt 10% mw dmg. The build I understand on choice of triats and gear is focused on burst and survivial thru stealth, retaliation is usualy sued by "tanky"specc where you want to get hit often.

In my oppinion a big part of playing my mesmer is about find music who fits the mode. I usualy try ask ppl what thye play while pvping or doing dungeons. I cant listen to dubstep for 2 h strait or heavy metal, why I often chose soft melodic electronic music.

@Taldren, yes accualy this is exactly what I do in SC Mist, generosity replace preci as soon I got a fair amount of stacks. When I farm stacks before I go out I generaly get 10-14 stacks in 30 sec after pulled al cayotes outside spawn. Take around 1,5 min to get 25 stacks if you use cayotes/wolfs and dont kill them all, just let em summon more.
I use 2 x preci sigils when I farm stacks, as soon I got em full I change. If I get downed in wvwvw and rally/reset stacks I change back staff to preci as soon out of combat.

@Vixtolax, I feel the burst from a normal setup is enought, if I used the sigil it would be for experement with another 4 sec immunity, mabye add reflection ontop of it. I have thu hard feel I can effective use al shatters and cd,s it offer.

For pistol the cd on sword is wasted by that setup and I would miss a staff. Also a untraited pistol is rather ineffective versus a good player due to the cd,s He simply immune/refect when you opening up, denying your 2 loong oh cd.

Sometimes I with a smile regret I post this builds, like the other day when I was messing around with Shatter Cat Origininal using pistol, and faced a mesmer I 100% sure player a kind of Shatter Cat Mist, he reflected my own pistolstun and folowed with a immoilce and nuked me.

@Taldren, yes totaly right, without rune of AIR I would not have the speed on the Mist spec that is needed to have any use of the movment utilitys, still its rather fantastic. Last night I jumped a guild team of 10, downed a player and then legged it to see what chased me. 3 thiefs with shortbows and HS jumps started chase me, and I out run em over half the south map, from the camp to my spawn. Full time I had em after me/around me. The low cd on staff blink in combo with low cd on blink, stealths and chaos storm, chaos armour etc is rather fantastic. If it was not so booring to see I might do a full “how to run form ppl” vid.

For how to fight d/d who use cc well I usualy try use as many movment abilitys as possible, blink + portal help even if immobilised.

@AngerExtreme, yes the Mist is no big/medium group play spec, its to focused on personal speed and dmg. If you looking for a group play spec Its Shatter Cat heavy you want as it can take a beating better + utilitys often more focused on support.

@Taldren, i give you pure speed from position a-b for d/d is better than mesmers, but our short distance sprint and mobility combined with portal and stealth let us get away if we do it right. D/d have one mountain/high climber in blink (potensialy 2 if you know how to use magnetic, btw can magnetic be reflected?) we have potensialy 4 plus stealth on this let us basickly be a pain in the kittens tail Still as you say, to catch a running d/d is close to impossible. But tbh its always easier to run away than to catch ppl.

Well tbh, fight only one person and it happens to be a mesmer, or other summon class the beem will help kill off clones and pets, so one kind of bonus.

@Taldren, I claim a d/d ele have no chance and tbh probobly not even a thief to catch a portal, dubble stealth, blink cd lowered, staff cd lovered rune of air using mesmer. Its bald but Im sure after spent last weeks troll ppl and groups in bl,s and simply outrun em and trolled em around on the map. To chase thu is harder as staff 2 blink dont have a steady target.

@Azral, not sure how tooltip work but the dmg is 9% + for illusionary persona shatter, 9% for 3rd clone 6% for 2 nd and last clone 3%+ Add that your iswordsman in the burst also get 9% your rune of air 9% and sigil of fire and sword frenzy its a rather major dmg inc. Easy to test, do some shatters and attacks without it and some with it. You kotice a rather nice inc. I have had 4 k + mw with 3 clones in phantasm hybrid spec.

I just curious if they lower shatter dmg and increase GS and scepter dmg, will they buff other weapon slots dmg aswell? Cause if you balance more dmg on 2 weps but nerf dmg for class itesl its a ner to everyone who not use the naimed weps.

@Taldren, a few classes have extremly good escape mobility, Shatter Cat Mist specced mesmers for example is as close you come to impossible to catch if thye intend to run, same go for shortbow thiefs and in some ways d/d eles (even if they a litllte less mobile now. Still the mist spec is wery good at catch ppl with short cd on blink and staff blink + swiftness. Chaos storm often halt ppl enought for a sword cripple to land aswell. The spec and even better at run away form ppl. I dont feel i miss the GS or pistol in the spec, a few who accualy want to run get away but thats part of the trade.

@Azral, compounding power butt al your direct dmg including shatters, phantasm dmg, rune of air and sigil procs with 3-9%, this is FAR better than give one of your abilitys crit chance a 10% buff.

Lets just wait and see whate happening. They building the reasons for nerf shatter dmg on the fast GS and scepter beems get a buff. For anyone who not use scepter (99% of mesmers) or GS ( 50% of mesmers) it would mean a direct nerf to overall dmg. If they want dmg from shatters to be on our weapons they need to look at al weapons.

I expect them to buff the other weapns dmg in close time if they go thru with this or depending on the magnitude of the shatter nerf they drive ppl to play GS.

@ATurist, There is serveral abilitys in the chaos who make the value of teh traits so big. Ofc the staff who give the biggest defensive ability in game for mesmers, chaos armour + storm. To gain this on a faster basis is extremly good. Also the phase retreat cd is fantasticly valuable to get on shorter cda nd will combined with blink etc make you close to impossible to catch. The minor trait (protection on 75% hp) is one of the things make ing Mist and Heavy shatter cat builds to be extremly thief proof. Its alot about learn how to use staff to maximum both for utility, agression and defense.

@Tortimer, Cheers goot input about vitality. In not sure if you remeber the enginer I dueled and posted hes video a while ago. I accualy ahve a few fights of my own and when/if I post em you notice my hp is larger than ustal in roaming. Thisc ause I from start knew I was about to fight a EXTREMLY skilled condition enginer and by tahat tweeked my gear.

Also you might missed it but in shatter cat mist latest vid I use sigil of generosity, I sticking to this on the staff for the sertan spec after I stacked up preci or fight a knewn condi player. Null field is fantasic aswell for extra chaos armour and condition control but for mist I think portal is stronger, I simply poratl in drop dmg on the necro, immune and portal out, portal in after 3 sec use refelct heal and dps burst then blink invis out. after 3-4 bomb raids even a necro bunker start go low on hp and cooldown.

Rune of air looks good. I’ve been thinking of rune of the scholar as well. Just not sure if i would benefit from the increase in critical damage too well. With fury right now i’m at 50% crit chance.

Different rune sets offer different stats. %crit dmg + speed is fantastic from Air. One thing hard calculate is thu how many stats a proc of the rune every 10 sec is worth. DPS is extremly hard to calculate for pvp and without a reliable combat log even harder.

@Tynee, for solo/smal team gameplay I nowdays use a high mobility, high burst survival spec. I call it Shatter Cat Mist and its just fantastic for roaming and smal group vs smal group. Its close to impossible for the other team to focus you down and you go like a mist into their lines down and stomp a player and out before they can counte. You can take down tanks and glas cannon thiefs cant one hit you. The utilitys for group play is wonderfull for smal scale combat as it involve portal and mass invis, also a short cd on chaos storm help alot.

@Daishi, I know this is spvp/tpvp but I duel alot of skilled players so I send some input from the wvwvw world aswell

1- Get into combat get 3 clones up, hit shatter (daze) to let em run to target, hit daze to invit + 1 clone, dodge for a nother and leap for a 3rd out of invis (the leaping clone is wery hard to dodge when it come from invis and if any of teh 3 dazes hit its even harder). After that normal combo.

2-Get clones up in combat hit a portal out of space, hit shatter when you on other side of portal, portal back and leap + shatter combo.

3-Run from target chasing you, hit leap while on move away so it run oposit direction, leap abck + combo.

4-Open with cry shatter, let them immune this, staff 2 outdecoy wait 1-2 sec blink in from stealth leap + combo.

There is as many combos as there is ideas. VS a tanky player best way is accualy bind your time some. Feel hes defenses and fish some. Se what he react to and make him unsertan by mix your shatter combos. When you feel a gap, hit fully and get him on defensive and in the situation dont let go, be on him al time.

@Esplen, Idd it might add overtime longer dmg but Im after the spikes. If anything get the spike and end ppl is one of the heardest I find in condition builds and higer dmg combined with confusion spike might do teh trick. Ty for input thu mate and I will have a look again.

@Jester. I use rune of air as my dps Rune, It give swiftness on heal. It also one of the strongerst dps sigils for a direct dmg mesmer in the game. The sigil can crit for up to 7k in a berserker spec. In a defensive spec liike the one I use I had crits on ful lvl 80,s for 6,2k.

Portal is group-dependent, and we’re discussing individual classes here, so it’s not really relevant.

I claim in right setup and spec we have outsanding mobility in and out of combat. I use a build i call Shatter Cat Mist nowdays when I roam, short cd on blink, staff blink and mirror immage swiftness (15 sec cd on swiftness on demand).

About the staitment portal is group dependent I argue its not. Portal is a fantastic tool for solo gameplay in wvwvw. Here is why i think so:
