Now the question is, does TCG have the guts to back up the big talk, return the gesture and fight on NA servers. My guess is no.
Hearing Sizer rage about NA delay and more dodgeroll misses would be a treat.

I wouldn’t go so far. The delay across servers is real. I got absolutely schrekt when I fought vs them because rom kitten d me and I was pretty much forced into melee to land nades ;\

If you only saw the chat in the NA finals of TOG. It was all euros talking mad crap about NA. NA thinks it will beat EU and vice versa. I find it hard to believe no respect is given across the atlantic when we haven’t lost a game. That’s not only insane, but it’s askin for an kitten whoopin’ IMO.

OE, be objective. I saw NA people talking “mad crap” about EU on Helseth and Sizer stream, not to talk about the ToG EU.

Of course there people like this on both EU and NA, the key here is to just ignore them. You are considered a top player, don’t behave yourself like that, please.

There have been too many sporadic shots fired across the atlantic over the years to not have joined the rivalry, but it’s all in good fun.

I really would like to fight them sometime. There are frequent times on NA when we get on to practice and see no competition at this point. Of course we’re going to think about fighting the best team on EU and vice versa…

I like how this thread started as a discussion of the two different metas in general, and the 2nd page has turned into a smack-talking sesh between TCG and Abj! :p

I agree with NA is inferior to EU in almost all aspect of this game BUT I also agree that TCG will get rekt by abjured.

So retain your orgasms EU lovers, you will see your “best universe team” getting rekt in china.

There’s nothing that can rek TCG atm…cause they can adapt in order to win every single matchup they get, they run a really flexible comp that can fill many ways to go not just the usuals condispam comps we see all around

If anything can rek tcg it’s the team that hasn’t lost a game unless their engi is pass-out drunk. That’s no joke either.

Obviously Backpack wouldn’t know that because he’s not actually best multiclass NA and is average at everything except engi. In teamfights Im going to assume TCG keeps tabs on all members of the opposing team, so no mega ganks from Caed. Also Tage can hold 1v2 vs double cele ele for a long time, and can hold any 1v1. Helseth can 1v1 Oeggs both eles and maybe Nos depending on how well he kites. I dont understand why you people assume TCG will simply take 2v2s that abj. gives them when they can easily rotate mesmer/thief in extremely fast while ele/guard or ranger/guard hold 2v3 for at least a minute unless Nos is there, but Nos is usually in the 2v2. None of you people arguing for abj. are taking into account portal allowing for instant rotations for TCG, and high mobility forcing either freecaps all day or someone camping home and being ignored all game. EU rotations are far superior to NA as well.

That makes sense, but as someone said earlier it boils down to who executes their strategy best. TCG have much less margin for error – any mistake could be costly.

I think you mean that any mistake can be costly for the abjured. Our comp is punishing to the other team when we win and costly when we lose. Czech was accurate in his diagnoses of our comp’s flaws. Our non-tanky members are seriously non-tanky.

Also, I love the euros who have been just losing their mind ever since this weekend. I thought NA was supposed to be the kittentalkers, but all I heard during the TOG was how much EU would stomp on us while we’re just 500-0’ing everyone.

Hmm, from my solo player layman’s point of view I would not have expected that – instead thinking that especially mesmer will have to play exceptionally well with good rotation and use of portal.

the squishier comp is the riskier comp. I don’t think anyone can argue our comp isn’t squishier….

I think TCG is underestimating our ability to dominate guardians. Why the hell do you think every team on NA has abandoned one at this point when there are a TON of players that used to play guardians but now play other classes?

Sizer still runs with refuge and double sig and helseth is a mes, both of which are seriously weak to all 3 of our roamers with their limited condi clear and stunbreaks.

Their one saving grace might be the fact that we bring two d/d eles into the equation with limited access to stomps and rezzes because helseth can shatter off stab and prot.

Either way, I would like to get something started but it’ll probably end up being after WTS quals since we’re trying to get toker up to snuff to replace nos :P

Roster list is useless without class and spec :/

Most players at the top level play more than one class/spec. Itd be an utter time sink to do that, especially for unpaid volunteers.

if you wish to relook at the vods for their class and spec it’s very simple to do. Also, I’m sure the players wouldn’t mind answering any questions you have. If they do then move on to the next guy :P

For one, try not to mistake strength for difficulty. If you don’t think a nade engi is hard in the top levels of PvP then you’re just flat wrong.

For two, this is an actual bug and very frustrating to deal with.

Venom share thief.

with 45 seconds cd venoms are realy a reliable source for locking down an opponent.
I forgot it’s full of venom share thieves in high ranked teams…

I know you’re being sarcastic, but if you don’t mind being totally worthless without your friend run a venom share thief with all venom traits and p/d. The 2 on the pistol fills in the gaps for locking players down.

Step 1: Free camera.

Step 2: Choose the type of ground targetting that is right for you. For ground targets, there is no correct answer; whatever you’re comfortable with is best. Indicators help a lot with nades since it shows the center of the AoE and it’s possible to only land 1 or 2 nades on the outside of the radius.

Step 3: Practice a LOT!

I’ve played since almost day 1 maining a nade engi. I still miss nades. It’s not easy and it’s never going to be perfect. Just try your best! If you want someone to compare to, I stream quite a lot

This is the real thread right here. However, Ostrich, I need to know where I place solo trolling since Bry isn’t on all the time for the duo to go to town. TBH, I still feel I would be in the neighborhood of 3 to 4, but surpassing Sataar has proven difficult since I get caught taking the game/match seriously sometimes.

the three stooges are funny because there’s 3 of them. You without bry is like watching one stooge; it’s more pathetic than troll.

You guys are doing this all wrong. Anet doesn’t have to do anything because people are just complaining about this stupid map. I don’t know why they haven’t removed it, but it’s clear they aren’t going to unless you force the issue. What this means is that you have actually stop playing this stupid map. By that, I mean AFKing, DCing, or just YOLOqueing Team Arena. If Anet sees a good number of people actively resisting the map, to the point where SoloQ actually suffers, then they might do something about it. Until then, this thread is just dumb noise, easy to handwave away with “LOL BUT SOMEPPL LIKE IT”.

I recommend yolo queueing team arena! I do it all the time, the more the merrier

Flamethrower would be nice if it didn’t miss for purely inexplicable reasons…

Basically the cone shaped attacks (FT 1, Blowtorch, Firegrab) all suffer from a similar problem with the z-axis bugging out as well as movement of your character causing the attacks to miss. You can time your movement and make blowtorch or firegrab hit more reliably, but they only have 1 attack to pull off while FT 1 has 10 making it pretty vulnerable to the aformentioned bugs.

I seriously hate having blowtorch miss already. Like hell I’m gonna depend on a flamethrower 1

It’s a problem that effects the entire playerbase, but the only way they can implement some sort of decent matchmaking is if they get a larger playerbase.

At this point I frequently wait over 5 minutes for queues, sometimes 8-10 minutes. If I started to wait 15-20 minutes between queues then I may as well just quit the game.

very underwhelming buff in my opinion:

skill #1:
-damage still pretty bad
-still misses half of the time without a reason
-retilation almost throws back as much dmg as you deal

skill #2:
- still misses half of the time

skill #3:
- way too slow now, pretty much rendered useless

so faaaaaaaaaar away from beeing viable

Sadly this is still gonna be the case. The kit is still stuck as more utility than damage. That’s a pretty hard choice to take without pigeon-holing yourself into a roll that is done way better by other classes.

Honestly I think the only way for them to actually make it a viable kit would be for them to add another condi to the 4 and make it so the 1 hits 3 times over its duration, burning for 1 sec each hit.

It’ll still be a pretty crappy kit, even with the buffs…

Oh I remember the combustive shot nerf, that was a massive facepalm moment.

What kind of bottom of the barrel QA testers do they have that said the ticks from Combustive shot granted adren, when everyone on the forums was screaming that it was the Furious Trait doing it.

But they do not listen, and this thread should not exist, because we should know better by now, and know and accept they simply do not listen.

Aww cmon, you have to admit the old combustive shot was broken as all hell. That size of a damaging field for such a fire and forget ability shouldn’t even exist, but then you add on what was essentialy blind immunity to it and a whole lot of damage every single second.

Don’t facepalm over proper balance. It makes the devs listen to us less.

Back on topic, I’m glad they at least tested it out and saw it might have been too strong. I’m sure they put a little more thought in to it than you give them credit for. It doesn’t surprise me they didn’t release that change beforehand and it’s kinda rude to ask for such a ridiculous thing.

that’s pretty silly to say considering that out of all classes the warrior is the one that needs the most work to hit anything (no instant/no-projectiles skills like necro scepter autos or ele air attune hit, no blink hits like steal or judge intervention, no instant long range aoes like lava font… all our skills are slow, highly telegraphed, no blinks and generally short range)

Most work to hit anything? When was the last time you saw a combustive shot?

So basically I should go into WvW and pull anyone. It has about a 10% success rate out there for me…

Why is it only Engi PvPers who complain then? What is this sorcery… a huge deal of the player base zergs WvW – why aren’t there more forum tears? Lol. I don’t get it.

I think the real solution is the new trait to add wheels to turrets. They will follow the engi like Ranger spirits.

The trait shall be called………….Skatemode.

It’s a joke that a turret engi can hold a point against multiple zerkers classes in uncoordinated games. I hate to break it to you, but in a large chunk of games you’ll have at least one team not on TS. It gets even worse when you get paired with randoms.

My issue with turret engis isn’t WHAT the do but HOW they do it. It is demoralizing watching a player sit there and auto attack, never dodge and often times win a fight where his turrets are setup or be a MAJOR factor in that fight. It’s bad for the playerbase because it’s like a virus. The bads that get rekt by turrets will switch to turrets and realize that it’s way too OP for how easy it is and keep playing it.

Of course turrets are good at holding points. They are designed upon it, and it is all they’re balanced for (and the reason why they’re mostly useless in other modes). That, and a ton of traits that are spent upon them (even too many, imho, and i think adding those grandmasters’ ones wasn’t a good idea balance wise).
They’re specialized tools that are good in doing a single thing, and that is holding points. Pile up many traits, and they end up being great at that.
As far as game mechanics and balance go, there is nothing wrong about it.
If something were to change, then they should be made less specialized – thus less strong at holding points, but able to do other things as well – and some traits should be removed, so that you can’t pile up all those effects. But that’s all.

Also, you can’t balance skills over the incompetence of bad players. No one would whine about endure pain blocking a burst, but if people rush blindly on points where there are turrets, then it is suddenly a problem?
No, if they do that, they deserve to be butchered. And learn from it.

The issue is skill vs reward. AI has repeatedly proven itself to remove the required input on part of the user. There should be major sacrifices in efficacy when you choose something that is easy to play. If I’m forced to hit 4x as many buttons twice as fast to play a spec, why is a spec that hardly requires a pulse to play anywhere near effective as what turret engis are?

Because turrets would be useless otherwise, and everyone would switch to 4-kit engineers – that by all accounts, according to your point of view, should be the strongest spec in the game. Those, or elementalists’ conjurers. And warriors would end up being, like, bottom tiers. Unlike now.

And it isn’t like turrets aren’t already less efficient than other specs – as we already said before, they aren’t used in actual tourneys.
I would also add that if we must talk about rewarding skill…then we should redesign all the classes, not just turrets. But i admit i would laugh quite a bit, if that happens. Cause there would be a lot of tears from some popular classes.

I dont have a large problem with low skill specs to a point. Turret engis fall well below that point.

Hambows require more active play and thought than turret engis. Hell, even spirit rangers require more skill than turret engis, and that’s sad.

Reminding us of the number of traits that you dedicate to your AI is honestly pointless. Yes, we know you sacrifice a LOT to play turrets. But that doesn’t mean you should be able to auto-attack people to death in uncoordinated games.

If you honestly believe that the other players deserve to die to that spec then I can’t really begin to get my argument across. You basically play a rifle engi and hit your utilities once in a while. Every other player in the game is playing at a higher level than you.

You say that we shouldn’t balance around specs that are crappy in high end play. What about the higher end play of every other player in the game except for the turret engi?

Ok. With the buff to Nightmare runes, and Reaper’s Protection becoming meta, the Necromancer’s control effects has risen siginificantly compared to other professions. Engi Rifle and Warrior Hammer aren’t creeping up in control, that’s for sure.

This fear build has not been in the game since day one. Nightmare Runes 3s Fear is quite recent, I assure you. And it’s a bad bad idea.

So, I’m confused. I’ve been lurking the forum looking for specific balance changes that will get me to play this game again. What rune buffs? Do you mean from the April 2014 balance patch?

Yeah.. before April balance patch, even with a 30/20/0/0/20 build, all a Necro could achieve from Nightmare Rune proc was 1.95 seconds..

Now it’s been bumped to 2 seconds base, and you get feared for 3.3-3.5 seconds (depending on rounding..?) when you poke a necromancer, with the new 0/6/4/0/4

It’s really the only thing that needs to be changed a bit.

Honestly I would prefer if the removed the fear proc entirely. It’s an RNG stun with a long enough cooldown to not be in anyone’s control.

I’ve seriously been CC’d by a downed necro while cleaving his body, feared by his 2 as he gets rezzed and then killed before I get out of fear FOUR TIMES since the buff. I’ve been keeping count

Why run power over condition in PvP/WvW?

In PvP condis are actually quite unpopular in a lot of teams.

In WvW, condis are broke by default simply because of the food and stat differences.

Is it too much to ask for a comprehensive explanation on their decision to keep skyhammer in the game? It’s obvious that arena-net has decided to keep skyhammer since they already went through the trouble of trashing one map (RIP capricorn).

Can we please get an official reply from someone who was actaully involved in this decision? It feels like a-net is afraid to say anything about it and is just willing to drag this crap out. It’s beyond disgusting at this point.

The only thing that’s bullkitten about noscoc’s build is nightmare. That kitten passive fear is just incredibly frustrating and a huge fight changer.

Everything else, except for path of corruption (not exactly a broken trait. It’s easily dodged/blinded and is boon dependent), has been in the game forever.

Yes, the build is the strongest necros have now. That doesn’t mean it needs to be nerfed cuz you got rekt son

If good players are already able to counter it rather easily, where is the issue? I could understand if such a build was effective in tourneys as well, but it is easily crushed at competitive levels.
Asking for the game to be balanced over the needs of low skill level players is rather nonsensical. You could ask for nerfs for everything by following that pretense.

A Note to prospective EU Participants:

Certain teams have major discrepancies with their rosters which, if left unsolved will disallow them from participating in the event entirely. These teams have been contacted via in game mail. Please ensure to check your IGM so you don’t miss out on an opportunity to participate.

Other teams have minor discrepancies with their roster that, while it will may not affect their eligibility to play, may limit the people who can play for them and possibly prize distribution in the event the team qualifies for any. Teams that are affected by this will be emailed details on what they need to do along with their RSVP emails which should go out tomorrow.

Approximately 4-9 teams will not be invited to participate, but that does not mean you are out. In the event invited teams do not confirm their participation by the specified time, these teams will be invited in the order they applied.

In layman’s terms; GET TOGETHER OR GET CUT. IT’S GO TIME LADIES!!!!

Second feature pack and this map will still exists, what a huge disappointment, if they are not going to give us anything for pvp content wise at least take off this stupid map, anet loves this map so much it even queues up often compared to the other maps.

Evidently they don’t think that it pops any more frequently than the other maps.

Insane amounts of evidence from individual players says otherwise, but of course it’ll just continue to pop just as frequently because they never solo queue….

On topic though, this kitten bug has cost me many fights and ruined many kills. There is nothing more frustrating than blowing a bajillion cooldowns after a magnet and then watching them port behind you, then forward, then somewhere else entirely while all your kitten is just whiffing.
