Well this most certainly got derailed again. I can’t wait to make another ambiguous and pretentious set of highlights under a title that seems like I’m trying to prove a point!
Also, you people don’t understand engis. It’s almost comical the lack of knowledge of why I chose elixir R and why I chose these highlights. If you even ask that in the first place then you shouldn’t be commenting, everyone who plays engi knows it’s too good to not run and stunbreaks won’t help against stun wars.
Zone, my offer still stands!
@$20 an hour! It’s worth it!
Really because I ran engi for months when mesmer became a joke ( you want to talk about a class that has to sacrifice almost everything to build for tpvp).
Stabilized armor+protection injection was staple for my build and always will be because engis can also build automated response which would deal with those condi classes pretty nicely as well. Sounds like you just refuse to change your build in order to win.I’m not arguing that warriors don’t need a tone down they do greatly. I am arguing that you didn’t use the tools available to you to deal with said situation. And that is not ANET’s fault nor is it a skill v reward situation.
Alright, lemme just go ahead and go 30 30 30 30 30 while I’m at it.
You don’t understand the reality of engis and where their efficacy stems from. To argue with me about engi builds, especially bomb nade builds, is simply asinine.
To leave myself at a severe disadvantage against every other player on their team to get a major advantage against ONE spec is simply ridiculous and is clearly asking too much. Furthermore you’re blowing off inertial converter in an elixir R spec as if it’s a “free” trait point which in and of itself destroys your credibility in arguing over it.
To put it in perspective, I’m fighting four necros and a warrior. So I get 3 stunbreaks, elixir X and a shamans amulet with protection injection and stabilized armor JUST to deal with the warrior. What do I do against the necros?
FINALLY, you tell me I didn’t have the tools in that given situation. As cool as it would be to be able to respec to hard counter your opponents every fight, we play a game where that does not happen. The fact that I have to remind you of this is insane

That warrior ran an unusual, full melee mace/mace/hammer build that normally would not work in a competitive match, but it just so happens to be the one counter to the engineer’s obnoxiously resilient, borderline-immortal build, and therefore it worked that match. Without that warrior’s awkward melee build, that engineer would have run rampant and dominate the entire match with no counters.
Is this a case of Build Wars? Maybe. Imbalance? No.
I dare you to play my build and tell me it’s immortal.

Stream it for 10 hours total and I’ll give you 50g just for the laughs from watching you after calling it immortal. Not even joking. It’s your free 50g if you show me how to play my build.
Please, be my guest.
Sigh never thought I’d say this OE… But if you know the build someone on that team is running and how it can directly counter YOUR specific build why not change it before the match? I mean really all you would need to do is swap some traits around and you become that warriors worst nightmare….
Protection injection+Stabilized armor= The ability to eat a frenzy 100b while stunned.
In all seriousness you could have taken 5 points out of tools and five out of fire arms and got stabilized armor without losing toooo much. Not saying your build sucks but its hard for others to believe your OP calls when you aren’t using tools available to you. It seems like those two traits are specifically why engis don’t have many stunbreakers because for a 10 point sacrifice (in your case) you could negate almost all damage done to you by that warrior.
I guess I won’t get why people don’t reset their traits at the end of matches then rebuild in that first minute and a half before a match starts. ESPECIALLY IF YOU KNOW YOU ARE FACING THE SAME FREAKING TEAM AND YOU KNOW THEIR BUILDS!
See my above post:
“And why should I sacrifice a very large number of VERY good traits just to be able to handle one player on a five man roster and make myself kitten in situations that don’t involve a stun warrior? If I run a stun break then I don’t have condi clear or utility enough to justify my spot. If I don’t run a stun break I’ll die to warriors. Other classes get both, engi gets to choose his death or outplay his opponent like a beast.”
If I lose out on inertial converter I lose elixir R on reset which basically means I shouldn’t run it. Well, if I don’t run inertial converter I’ll die to the two condi class that they have on their team instead of the one stun warrior. If I run protection injection I’m putting myself at a severe disadvantage from not running backpack.
Any person who suggest running stabilized armor clearly does not know how engi builds or TPvP works.
You’re also missing the point, AGAIN. The entire point of this is that YOU HAVE TO OUTPLAY THIS CLASS BY DEFAULT NO MATTER WHAT kittenING CLASS YOU PLAY!!!

I don’t find engi to be nearly as strong as what other classes can bring without running a no stunbreak build. I have confidence in myself enough so that I can dodge a large number of stuns and that’s especially true considering I’m one of the most dodge-heavy specs in the game.
It’s not a video intended to convince you of the point I’m attempting to make. I believe that it’s an opinion shared by a large majority of the top level PvP community and it’s more tailored as a bit of criticism towards the game itself as an inside joke.
It’s a common frustration being FORCED to outplay someone based on their specific class/build just because their own class is at such a disadvantage. While this has happened since the game was released it has rarely been to such an extent as it has been lately and it has also recently existed with relation to easy to play classes like necromancer, LB/hammer warrior and spirit ranger
This video just goes to show how strong builds have gotten versus player skill. I understand that I’m running a no stunbreak build against a stun warrior with mace/mace hammer. That should be death and it pretty much is. But in previous incarnations of the game a semblance of skill existed amongst all classes where dynamics like this rarely existed and didn’t exist to such an extent based on crappy balance (RIP stun breaks for engis, RIP)
Every build running without stunbreaker dies that easily to a stun warrior, especially one running with mace.
Engineers have all the tools to counter warriors but of course you won’t prove anything posting a video of you dying to a stun warrior without having a stunbreaker on your bar.
That said, I don’t think that Warriors are balanced right now, but I also don’t think that Engineer is an “hard” class with a skillcap that high that gives you the right to win every fight as you are looking to claim.
Also, in past times balance wasn’t any better than it is now; there are several examples to bring back.
I know that balance isn’t any worse than what it was in the past. But what previous metas DID have was a semblance of skill vs reward. If I make a mistake on an engi in the current meta then I die, plain and kittening simple. God forbid that the warrior in the first vid made a half dozen mistakes that I capitalized on (zerkers stance too early, I big ol bomb’d cuz i saw he frenzied to break crate stun etc), if I make ONE mistake and get hit by ONE ability I am kittening toast.
Again, it’s an extreme example of what a LOT of good players have complained about recently. Easy to play classes have been at the top for a few months and it’s strangling the game because of simple frustration experienced by top teams.
And why should I sacrifice a very large number of VERY good traits just to be able to handle one player on a five man roster and make myself kitten in situations that don’t involve a stun warrior? If I run a stun break then I don’t have condi clear or utility enough to justify my spot. If I don’t run a stun break I’ll die to warriors. Other classes get both, engi gets to choose his death or outplay his opponent like a beast.

People seemed to miss the point again. Either that or they’re just trying to insult me or defend stun wars…
If you don’t understand why I don’t run stunbreaks then you don’t understand engis.
@$20 an hour! It’s worth it!
I’m not sure what I’m looking for here. He caught you. You had no stun breakers.
The reward from the risk you took by not having any stun breakers can be seen in the first vid. The second vid shows the other side of things, when you don’t dodge or back-off at the right time.
I mean there seems to be plenty of Skill vs reward going on on your end.
I don’t find engi to be nearly as strong as what other classes can bring without running a no stunbreak build. I have confidence in myself enough so that I can dodge a large number of stuns and that’s especially true considering I’m one of the most dodge-heavy specs in the game.

Part 1 looks a lot less intense than what it felt like playing. Getting hit by a single stun = death as an engi running a half-decent build.
Being forced to outplay people to such an extent is getting very annoying to a lot of players who don’t play easier classes. That’s what this video is about more so than any individual mistake on my part or the warrior’s.

hardcore killshot damage builds can do work on someone who eats the killshot.
But it also comes at such a large price that I personally consider it a troll build.
It’s very hard to land a killshot in the first place an once you do you’re not assured to kill the person because of how incredibly squishy the build is. If you’re caught before you even land a killshot off you’re dead meat.
So dodge the killshot and kill the warrior. I know it seems trite to tell you to “dodge better”, especially when it’s a one hit wonder build that can pop around a corner and dish out a 15k killshot before you even notice. But that’s why it’s so fun to play!!

backpack regenerator was my invention kitten it! Hate to be vain, but it’s true. Took me forever to figure out that trait wasnt a piece of kitten. It’s absurdly strong when coupled with heal turret’s regen.
And to answer the question it really depends on what you’re up against and what you’re likely to be doing in your comp (which is often determined by what map it is).
You have to be able to gauge how strong protection injection would be in most situations versus how strong backpack regen is in most situations and what build you’re running. It also depends on how well you can dodge.
Protection injection is obviously great against heavy burst (except mesmers). It’s also saved my kitten a lot against stun warriors (2 or more warriors that you’re pretty sure are stun and I’d recommend prot injection). Heavy burst is often what gets an engi killed in a team fight.
Personally I REALLY love backpack in most scenarios. The better you get with your dodges (they’re never perfect) the less you need protection injection. Considering I also run adventure runes I get an kitten of them with invigorating speed. If you’re using rocket boots I prefer backpack regen because I rarely feel like I need it.
Finally, I’d value protection injectio more in a team queue vs solo queue because coordinated bursts with this stun heavy meta are VERY hard to deal with without it. They’ll happen enough to where it might just eek out better than backpack in a lot of cases.

Warriors still die if you focus-pressure them. Now they just don’t immediately explode like an air balloon anymore – you have to work at it a bit.
Balanced. Needs sigil of paralyzation fix, quick breathing fix – that’s all.
except for the amount of coutnerpressure they can put on exceeds that which a large majority of classes can take. Only the few with stab can really deal with them effectively.
“Bursting” a warrior is extremely hard to do. I find it difficult to believe that people still believe this is a counter to a longbow hammer war.

This is why the forums are a joke. People lie like crazy.
Allow me to direct you here:
(there is a hammer trait in the defense line that gives +25% damage to stunned targets, so maybe what you’re experiencing is autoattack crits while stunned, but warriors also have to trade either stability or condition cleansing to take that trait)
And then here:
But yeah, warriors have a number of workable builds right now, and people think every warrior can do all of these things because some can do some things.
Which was in response to here:
3350 armor 2k power 85 crit chance (during a stun) blocks condi immunity multiple stabilities and condi cleanse on less than a 7s cd. SHould I also mention the auto attacks are minimum 2k?
Do you have multiple stabilities in your screenshot? Did you hit 2k autoattacks at a minimum?
Don’t call me a kittening liar.
They don’t make a “trade” for this. If you don’t take merciless hammer then I pity you.
Last stand is unnecessary. Calling the common trait choices a “trade” is hardly justifiable to consider the build as a whole completely fine and not overpowered. You trade EXTRA stability (the build already has one form of stab) for far more damage and far more CC. The build already has absurd condi clear with cleansing ire.
I understand why you’d respond that way to hyperbole, but a large majority of the guys points still stand and can be gathered into one build. You can even get multiple forms of stab with either lyssa runes or dropping bulls charge for dolyak sig…

(edited by Ostricheggs.3742)
Hammer autoattacks are most certainly not 2k with 2k power, lol. Even at 3k power when they start hitting decently hard, they’re too slow to do any kind of real pressure damage unless you’re also stunned (there is a hammer trait in the defense line that gives +25% damage to stunned targets, so maybe what you’re experiencing is autoattack crits while stunned, but warriors also have to trade either stability or condition cleansing to take that trait)
But yeah, warriors have a number of workable builds right now, and people think every warrior can do all of these things because some can do some things.
I still think most of the complaints come from people getting themselves caught in 100b. That move is SUPPOSED to hurt if you’ve set yourself up so poorly that you get caught in it, guys. Don’t get caught in it!

I run perplexity runes on my engie but out of 8 level 80 toons he is essentially my only condition toon (still working on my necro’s build). As an engie he pumps out over 2,200 watts of condition damage. It works well on those ET/AR zergs and dropping a kit on a flame ram while defending a tower works wonders. I can just hear them screaming “I’m melting….I’m melting!” Music to my ears. It helped when I picked up that Ascended Dire pistol a couple of nights back. Just need one more for the pair so if either ET or AR would oblige?
AR zerg? Wow, that’s mythical! I hope to see one someday.
Nice day for an AR zerg.

I really would recommend trying backpack regenerator though. It seems like you’re running a lot of healing power which doesn’t scale very well with med kit. wow.
1. u dont try to “chain CC” full hp spirit rangers with 3 spirits up, when u burst alone.
– because u know about the protection, because u cant oneshot him anyways, because its too risky to jump into 3 spirits in a that small area, because when eles do huges bursts, they usually waste alot of defensive cooldowns too.2. u cast ur heal, u are on 0 energy, u are running straight into a ranger with 3 spirits up and u dont even blind him or anything, i mean if 1 build is kitten strong already, i dont try to faceroll it with a kitten not so strong build, especially in the matchup itself.
3. the thing with the perma vigor and energy sigil made me laugh hard.
– u waste ur 2 dodges in the beginning, and after it, ur energy goes from 0 – 100 without u even thinking about dodging anything the ranger does.
especially when u are playing with energy sigils + the vigor trait + evasive arcane, u HAVE to dodge, otherwise u are also just wasting ur resources (air dodge for example is pretty good against spirits, justsayin)4. dont really care which skills killed u in the end, that u didnt expect it to happen says alot about how much knowledge u achieved on both those classes. and since u die instant, u ate alot more spirits, but its not shown in the death breakdown since u were invul.
5. the mistakes are no mistakes part is funny too
6. im surely not the one who needs to chill down, i guess ppl respect players like u on na atleast, and they listen to ur opinion, when u are posting a video in which u fail hardcore and blame the game for it, i feel like someone gotta tell u that u talk kitten.
7. context? what? u are crying about spirit ranger and how easy it is to play effectively, but u dont even try in the slightest to play right against them. this game is full of things that instantly kill u on a walk ele and on any other glassy build too and u have learned to play against it (bs thief, phantasms, shatter mes, power nec, even staff ele……………and so much more) so can u already stop crying and l2p? its pathetic that u find no solution to handle AI even as a 12k hp ele (can give u a hint, just run away and call ur friends eq+tp him and hes oneshot).
8. can give u elementalist lessons, 10g/hour.
valar ~~
I do believe that you simply ignored my entire post and reposted what you claimed previously and missed the entire point of the video, AGAIN.
The worst part is it’s like you never watched the video. You have no idea what killed me. It wasn’t the spirits. The storm spirit finished me off. It was the pet, the 3 hits and the spirit. I died to exactly what is said I died to because I rewatched the kittening video like a sane human being would instead of just kittening arguing over unsupported evidence like you are.
You don’t understand one of the most basic concepts in the game (that dodging makes you move at a pace faster than walking while crippled) and point out me using ether renewal and my dodges as a mistake. Using both WAS a mistake and I should have just popped ether. You TOTALLY missed the context of the video and the fact that the ranger came out of nowhere and the reasonign why I “wasted” my dodges.
You claim that I should have “blinded him” while ignoring that he got THREE kittenING HITS off on me. THREE.
You insinuate that by chaing CCing the ele the entire kittening time I am wasting “defensive” cooldowns. You ignore that he got THREE kittenING HITS OFF ON me. !!!!!!!THREE kittenING HITS!!!!!
You claim that I must “use air dodge” when the ENTIRE kittenING POINT was to CC the ranger to death because he didn’t have shared anguish on and ate my earthquake.
You’re insane nit-picking about my ele play TOTALLY ignores what occurred in the video and the entire point of the video.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I KNOW I AM NOT A PERFECT ELE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!I KNOW THAT I CAN BEAT RANGERS AND I KNOW HOW TO BEAT THEM!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!THE ENTIRE POINT OF THE VIDEO IS TO SHOW HOW SIMPLE MISTAKES MADE BY A PLAYER PLAYING BETTER THAN ANOTHER CAN MAKE THE GOOD PLAYER LOSE THE FIGHT BECAUSE THE WORSE PLAYER IS PLAYING AN EASY CLASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If anything, you need to l2comprehend context and basic points. I understand english is not your first language, but for the love of god please just kittening stop trying to kitten in a thread that had absolutely nothing to do with you.
JESUS kittenING CHRIST I DO NOT CARE IF YOU ARE GOOD AT THIS CLASS THAT IS NOT THE kittenING POINT
@$20 an hour! It’s worth it!
And in the video it’s not hard to understand what happened from my perspective. I was using a valks amulet, found an opportuntiy to chain CC a ranger into a fire burst (hopefully without a forge rune proc), took it and died.
Our resident 2 gud ele says that I blew an air burst into a protection, but he seems to ignore that it was a sun spirit proc from the THREE hits he got before he got CC’d. He also points out I used ether renewal at 90%. I did, because I was crippled and about to head to sky-hammer because we were losing because of it and had no intention of fighting a ranger. It’s on such a short CD that I don’t see how that’s even considered a mistake by you, it’s rather nit-picky. I “wasted” two dodges while crippled (hoping to wear down the duration of it without looking at it) on a class that uses energy sigils and has perma vigor. Furthermore I was using a kittening valks ammy and didn’t expect to have a lynx and dead storm spirit proc kill me in an instant.’ The ONE proc of storm spirit on death would not have killed me. What killed me was his lynx and the burning applied by his THREE hits in addition to the storm spirit.
Almost all of valor’s criticism has absolutely nothing to do with the video and is just pointing out what he thinks are mistakes without taking them into context. Also, almost all of the mistakes you pointed out are not mistakes. You need to seriously need to chill and quit coming into threads rubbing your kitten without even considering the implications of the video or reasoning behind every simple action in what happens to be a 25 second clip of actual gameplay…
@$20 an hour! It’s worth it!
How is the ai so difficult for you all? The “passives” are swiftness, burning, and 3/10s protection. The ai never attacks and never uses its one skill without being commanded to. The annimations are simple and long, while the single use active is a single blind, cripple, or dmg.
This is a learn to play issue. I know people on “underpowered” classes who will eat up Rangers. The fact that you can’t do the same is simply a sign of needing to learn your class better.
The problem isn’t that they’re so incredibly broke anymore. They’re simply a strong class. I stated since the change to spirits and CDs that IMO they’re a lot less stronger than they used to be and actually have some sort of counter-play to them.
My problem with them is that it is probably the lowest skill floor and skill ceiling build in the game. The only thing that comes with being a “good” spirit ranger are things that are just simply basic and you need to learn to be good at any class.
I’ve heard from a lot of veteran players that this entire shindig of low-skill high-reward is the reason why they just straight quit (often times bringing their team with them). It’s very frustrating as a player to watch a guy hit disabling shot and crossfire yet still almost kill you when you have to play like a god to be able to kill one.

I think people are missing the point… No kitten I suck at ele. I’m more amazed that no one pointed out my build because it was a pile of kitten and more the reason I died than anything else. I understand quite clearly what I did wrong. I don’t need you to tell me that I’m terrible
The video is more for entertainment and to voice a very common frustration with the level of skill required to play some things vs others. It’s a very good example of a what-the-kitten moment regarding this common frustration.
This isn’t a commentary on eles being unviable. If I made the same mistakes I did as a warrior or thief I would have died. It’s simply to show that some things are just so incredibly easy to play that they can spam 1 three times, get CC’d and win the fight because someone forgot to dodge storm spirit.

AR is mad. or just very disrespectful. funny situation when you beat an AR in a 1v1 /bow then get zerged and that AR you killed gets rez then dances on your corps lmao.. Ive been sat on and danced on a lot from AR and im like why so mad? then I look at the score…oh
You’re dark haven right? In case you didn’t notice AR has the outmanned buff more often than not.
I have no sympathy for you. I have 3v1’d people and had to run away may times because the zerg hopped around the corner. The amount of times that scenario has happened is simply ludicrous.
It’s almost a big of poetic justice. You got mowed down by the only five dudes on anvil rock and now you go QQ on the forums and remind us that we’re losing cuz we’re outnumbered. Maybe if you transfered to manvil and tried solo roaming for a day you’d understand how your own server is 100 times worse
You’re always so angry. Look, it’s not our fault, nor our problem the fairweathers came out to play. But taking every chance to spit in our faces when we even breathe in AR’s general direction makes you look like a child dude. Just saying.
Just pointing out the truth. Telling anvil rock you got zerged down is like telling a starving african child that there’s nothing to eat in your pantry.

And just for example, we are currently outmanned (DH) in EB right now. Pretty heavily outnumbered by AR, probably by 3/4:1.
The door swings both ways.
I dont think you guys on AR are giving yourselves enough credit, honestly. You fight hard, you seem to have plenty of people in your prime time, and you use great strategy.
Yea that didn’t last long. You just took SM with about 5x the numbers we have on the entire map.
The door swings one way for one hour a day then comes flying back at us with the force of a thousand uplevel zerglings who /dance on our corpses.
Such a shame. There’s nothing you can do against that many players when you have so few yourself. I saw your zerg build a superior catapult under 10 guys aoeing the kitten out of the blueprint and we didn’t kill a single one because we reached the AoE cap so easy (my bleeds were ticking for 185).
Whenever I see a DH I know he’s heading towards the zerg. Nothing is done without your zergs

no GoM or AR anywhere. no roamers or anything, what the actual F?
this is t8 not t5. welcome.
both servers are pretty depleted to the point which you do not ACTUALLY understand, arbys and se leaving dont begin to touch what ar or maybe even gom have gone through in recent history; Cant really speak for gom but they’ve looked better i can say that for sure, but when we’re constantly steamrolled and spawn camped every half hour by overwhelming numbers, not trying to even keep it competitive, yea… this is what the week is going to be like.
hope you like pve, cause you’ll probably be doing it by tuesday..
If you want to split that zombie heard up and focus on not trying to wipe a group of 15 with a group of 60 every time then i’m sure you’ll get a better response out of us. gotta adjust to your tier. we started strong but when you keep rolling the herd and keeping it uncompetitive, i think most of us said eff it. and let you have your candy like the spoiled kid.
QFT. I can only take so much. I lost count of how many times I would run out there, down a dude or three and then 5-10 more would come around the corner and they would all dance on my corpse.
I have never seen a server so dedicated to zerging I’ve also never seen you win an even fight (which are few and far between because your dudes always run to your zerg).
I would ask the same though TBH. Where are the small scale roamers on DH? It’s a running joke. If I see a DH he’s running to a bigger group of DH. If a gank a guy I can expect about 5-100 to turn around the corner unless I caught him far away from his zerg. Worst part is is that once you get the numbers you get the balls to try to chase me down.
This isn’t just one or two instances. This is totally systemic and universal. Your zergs are impressively disorganized and your general play is pretty bad. But by god you sure have a lot of people.
When I down 3 people in a 1v3, do me a favor and just let me kill them OK? I’m finding it hard to justify going to wvw when I get mowed down before finishing the nubs I just pwnt

I’m always too busy running from a half dozen to a full on zerg to be able to check the tags. Sorry, but I have no idea who you guys are.
@$20 an hour! It’s worth it!
It never gets old fending off a zerg filled with a bunch of uplevels with 1/10th the numbers.
No respect to any of you sirs, you zerg me down with zero remorse and half the time I end up killing 2-3 of you if it’s not too much.
Get good ferg zerg, get good.

evasive powder keg up explosives for engis is one of the few that actually does more harm than good. It does half the damage of a normal bomb and randomly procs indenciary and breaks stealth too kittening much.
I’ve killed people with it in power builds, but for every time I’ve killed someone I’ve lost incendiary or broke stealth 10 times.

preach it brah.
Nerds will be nerds. There’s a simple-minded perception amongst all online gamers that game devs are the boogy-men silently plotting to ruin the game. They are the scape-goats, never the heroes.
I know A-net isn’t perfect. No game is perfect and so no game developer will be perfect. But this game has become better and I have full faith it’ll be even better over time. Every recent patch outside the dhuumfire patch has moved in the right direction.
And about that meta… People begged for viable builds for necros and warriors. Spirit rangers had a couple of traits amalgamated with like two buffs and suddenly they’re the most broken thing to ever exist. This kitten happens. No one knew that when you mix together two traits and increase the active radius on spirits they’d be broke as kitten. It’ll get fixed.

The skills of interest:
Fire Bomb vs. Flame TrapFire Bomb:
Pros:
- 2s burn that pulses 3 times on a 10s CD.
- Bring the added utilities of immobilize, confusion, blind, and cripple.Cons:
- Cannot be preset.
- Slightly smaller damage radius.Fire Trap:
Pros:
- Can be preset.
- Slightly larger damage radius. Much larger if traited 20 into precision and critical damage.Cons:
- 1s burn that pulses 3 times on a 15 second cooldown. Can be increased to duration of fire bomb if one traits 30 points into precision and critical damage.
- No other utilities. What do you guys think of this?
I would much prefer the trap TBH. The simple fact that the range on fire bomb makes it so that you can literally walk out of it when an engi switches to bomb kit substantially hurts its ability to deal damage and what truly makes it an inferior skill in comparison…

Some Months ago i heard that A-Net has a DevTeam that only works on the PVP Part of the Game.
Its no Secret that there are no or only little changes in the sPvP Mode.Dear A-Net, pls tell us what they actually do for us sPvP-Player…
Some of us only play GW2 because they hope there are some new Gamemodes, Rankingsystem, Duelfunctions etc in the Future…
I can count 5 Players only in my circle of Friends who dont play because you dont make anything for sPvP!Tell us that u dont forget your PVP Players who supporting you since GW1!
Well, they revived the competitive scene from literally not a single team out there to something far better.
They balance the entire game around us.
The released spectator mode and made live casted tournaments possible.
They continually balance the game and keep it going in a good direction (it’s always a work in progress, this takes a lot of time to do properly)
They’re sponsoring a full 10k prize pool LIVE tournament…
Perma-finishers
While most of these things are geared for high-end competitive players, it’s kinda hard to ask for much else.
What I’d expect to see in the future:
Duo/trio/quad queues somehow made possible
Improved UI
Improved rewards (I’m 90% sure this will be coming, it’s been asked for too much for it NOT to come)
MUCH better balance
New (competitive) maps
More things to improve the new player’s experience
I honestly cannot believe they’ve done so much for us considering how small of a segment of the population that we are. Asking for MORE than what we’ve got is insane… I’m not too sure what else could be on the wishlist of a current player outside of a new game-mode (not gonna happen ladies).
Balance isn’t perfect, but they know what’s wrong as well as we do and it’ll get there.

The result of wayyyyyyyy too much time and a kittenty rewards system. My wrists still hurt ;_;

Balance in GW2 can ultimately be defined as such:
The viability of any reasonably made build on any class when juxtaposed to every other build of equal rationality is such that the weighted average advantage of all of the compositions over each other are equal to each other.
Was that so hard? Wait.. you want it simpler? Fine. Let me explain in more depth:
If I make a build that isn’t a joke build or stupidly made (haha power necro with shamen amulet lawlz), then this build would, on average, not be inferior to other builds on other classes. This does not mean that I can beat everything, or that I don’t have an advantage over everything else. No, there are going to be classes and builds who have a clear advantage over me. However, the number of classes and builds that do have an advantage over me should be equal to the classes and builds that I have an advantage over. Likewise, the “advantage” I have, from 60/40 odds to 80/20 odds, should be roughly equal to the odds against me from other builds, coming to a nice 50/50 on average.
It is actually really hard to do with a bunch of incomparables.
I would also like to tack onto this and say that classes vs other classes that fill a particular role also reduce their viability as a whole.
Balance is iffy. Any particular buff to any particular class can have wide-range implications making other classes viable or unviable. This is particularly true when we see a class that fills a certain role overtaken by another that sees a buff or a class that is buffed and has a role that encounters another class’s role often. This happened when A-net buffed necros at the cost of cond-engis. IMO, condi engis are “better”, but necros do overwhelmingly well against condi engis because of their unrivaled amounts of condi control/clear.
I’m sure we all know what happened to mesmers. Poor guys went from necessary in a comp to unplayable in this meta.
Again, balance is touchy. IMO the best way to balance this game is to go down a class list and give each class at least two viable roles/specs in high level team comp. For example, guardians could be a bunker or far-node assaulting physical DPS, eles could be a bunker or an all-around physical DPS or a glass-cannon DPS, etc. This would reduce overlap of roles that play into balance and allow comps to have more depth to them.
The one thing I worry about though is that this game seems to be going down the slippery slope of counter-comping where one particular class is so overwhelmingly strong against another set of classes that there is little point in bringing those classes when you see them. Engis/mesmers V necros, engis V stun wars, for instance. This is bad for the game. Being forced to switch classes because your chances to win are severely diminished because you see another class is not good balance
@$20 an hour! It’s worth it!
Well the more recent QQ stems from a problem that’s even worse.
Right now there is a class with no discernible weakness (outside of cheap cop-outs) that totally dominates the meta AND requires almost no skill to play. Talkin about spirit rangers here yo.
This is a huge step back from where we were before where classes that were deemed “OP” (ele, for example) had at least a small skill floor and a relatively high skill-cap. Sure, they were broke, but skill was actually a factor.
As of right now we’ve seen the rise of multiple classes that require very little skill to get a HUGE reward. I’ve never seen anything like this before. Necros, stun-warriors, spirit rangers and, to a certain degree, s/d thieves have found their way into the meta and complete noobs have seen success to a degree unseen in GW2’s history.
This is my huge complaint right now about “balance”. The beauty of GW2 is that the better team wins in a very large number of cases of competitive play because of strategy and skill level. Less than 5% of all losses in the previous meta could be blamed on getting “out-comped” or “counter-comped” because skill and strategy played a much larger factor. As of right now I do not have faith that this is the case. If a team runs a standard comp in this meta versus a worse team with a similar comp then you’d see the worse team have more success than they ever would have had.

I would straight quit this kittening game if we see those PvE runes get added into PvP. Simply put they’re broken beyond all belief.
