No Scarlet because she’s not a legend.
Before anyone yells, back up and think about it for a second. She’s not a legend, she’s a FACT. People know her, and know just what she did. There’s solid documentation on a lot of it, and lots of the people that met her are still around.
A legend needs time to grow. To become its own thing. To take on a life of its own. Scarlet’s story hasn’t done that yet. You can say she was epic, but you can’t really call her a legend. Not so soon.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
There used to be crafting forums, but they were destroyed in a forum rework quite some time ago. Sad, really.
It’s true that crafting doesn’t really make money, but it’s not useless. If you have the skill and supplies, you can often craft gear for yourself at a lower real cost than what you would have to pay for it off of the trading post.
At the upper end of things, you have ascended armor and weapons. These can NOT be purchased from other players, and are very hard to get as drops. (And if you get them as such, odds are good you’ll get the wrong stats on the item.) They can be made by people with level 500 crafting (expensive) with enough time and hard to obtain resources. A lot of people do not feel they’re worth the effort, but if you want the very best gear that’s about the only way you’re going to get it all.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
1. Why do the mobs spawn so quickly? Basically, whenever I enter an area, the creatures just respawn behind me, making some areas impossible to complete alone.
They respawn so the next player has something to fight, basically. And as you get used to the game and your characters get stronger, you may find yourself clearing things a bit faster. But it would be boring if everything was already dead when you got there, right?
2. Why is my character always slowed when hit by a creature, even though there’s no slow effect on me?
Much like how you heal a lot faster once you’re out of combat, you also move faster when you’re out of combat. Your combat speed is the real “normal” speed, the faster movement is just so it doesn’t take forever to get across a map when you’re not fighting things.
3. Is there any way to turn off the PVP spam (the Daily notification in the upper right corner, and in the status bar)?
As others have said, you can select just one of them to watch, and then the others don’t show. To get rid of it completely, however, you have to do enough of them to complete the daily. Once done, it will only show any you are watching, and otherwise be empty.
Please note that you can do any mix of the ones from PvP, PvE, and WvW to do this.
4. How come there’s no “mark as junk” option for items? Seems like a perfectly obvious thing to include.
Anything with the name in dark gray and marked “Trophy” is usually considered junk to sell to a vendor. When selling, there’s a “Sell Junk” option that will sell all of that you are carrying (as long as it’s not in a safe/invisible container). Anything else is assumed to have some use, even if it’s not something you’re interested in, and they don’t want people selling them by mistake.

Maybe they remembered that Necromancers might appreciate buffs that actually help them…
Yeah, can’t let any of those slip through.

I don’t understand why ArenaNet is so bent on putting the game on sale, yet doesn’t fix any of the broken features and other bugs. All I’ve noticed as a veteran is a new wave of gold sellers and hackers each time.
I’ve seen some brand new players in the game lately. It’s obvious that they’re new, because they’re having to ask questions about the game. Basic stuff, that the game SHOULD cover for them. But it doesn’t, not even with the NPE.
The NPE is annoying to deal with, but it wouldn’t be so bad if it was actually good at doing what it’s supposed to do. It isn’t, though.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
Does this mean that gemstore updates will be delayed as well?
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
Thanks. That’s not the answer I’d hoped to hear, but I guess it explains where I got confused.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
It seems I’ve been misunderstanding a part of the game, but I’m not sure. So, I’m asking those who may know more about how this part of the game works.
Basically, does boosting any of my stats in any way change the stats of the pets I summon? Not just ranger pets, but necro minions and engineer turrets, too.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
I’m going to have to agree with “buy them on the TP”. But, if you’re really set on getting one that’s not one of the Black Lion limited ones, and for some reason it’s not for sale, I think the Zepherite dye items actually let you pick the color you get from it.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
Its weird that this isnt already the case seeing how basic character models are supposed to be standardized.
I think it has to do with the fact that there’s at least two Engineer kits that leave them empty handed, so you need to see backpacks to see what “weapon” they have equipped.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
Oddly, I don’t see the wings as a breaking of GW2’s style. I’d say they make more sense for the game than some of the stuff that’s been in the game from day 1.
And let’s be honest for a minute. In real life, there are people that strap on fake wings (that don’t look as good as these do) and go out in public. And these are fairly normal people, generally. Our characters are NOT normal people. They are the slayers, the doom bringers, the unexpected saviors. They are the ones that strap on some armor, pick up an axe, and march off into a land infested with undead. They are the ones that toss on an old coat, then walk off into the wilderness to find deadly animals to turn into hunting partners. They are the ones that dress up in a few scraps of lace and frills, then march off into the frozen wastelands armed only with an old stick with a crystal stuck on the end.
Our characters are NOT normal people. I’d be hard pressed to call them sane, even. For some of them to be walking around with fake wings isn’t all that odd, and I doubt anyone in Tyria would really complain.
… except the Tengu. They’d totally complain.

probably Mini Kasmeer Meade, Balthazar Outfit and Crystal Nomad Outfit
Mini Kasmeer is already in the game; she drops from Black Lion Chests.
ow then i dont know what the 3rd thing could be…
I’m expecting a weapon skin. One costume part, one outfit, one mini, one weapon skin.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
As for suggestions: Option to hide other player’s back pieces. This is something incredibly important for players with weaker machines.
When doing worm and teq, commanders on TS always urge players to hide their fractal and other backpieces as it can crash slower PCs when added to the large amount of players in a zerg.
This brings up what may be a valid point. Back in CoH, some people had “raiding costumes”. No capes, no auras, no complex parts. It made things go smoother for the 50 person “Hami Raids”.
Perhaps we should suggest that the “use basic models” option should use default weapons and hide backpacks as well. I’m not overly fond of the idea, but there are performance reasons for it.
As for the wings themselves? I’m sure they’ll become less popular soon enough, and the ones that keep them will more likely be the ones that look good with them. We just need the “new toy smell” to wear off, first.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
I believe I’ve asked for a pet rock mini as well.
It should follow you around, but it should NOT visibly move. It should just teleport quietly, maybe only when you’re in one spot for a second or more.
Barring that, I’d also settle for a mini that’s a skritt leading (dragging) a pet rock around on a leash.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
Personally, I recently did an elementalist and had no major traits to level 80, at which point I went back and only unlocked what I needed. Except for slightly more damage, it’s not like it’s game changing.
If all you’re getting for your traits is “slightly more damage”, then I suggest you rethink your trait choices.

How do they fit in lore-wise?
What exactly do they have to do with Tyria? Where’s the lore behind these?
Most people seem to be missing this, so I’ll explain it.
These are NOT connected to the lore … yet.
These are related to a future release, likely something to do with HoT. By putting them on sale for one day only, they have people rushing to buy them, just so they can be walking billboards for whatever event they’re going to be from. It’s like when people buy T-shirts with the “Coke©” label across the front, and pay extra for the privilege. Marketing-wise, it’s pure genius.
This just makes me miss the wings in CoH.
Oh, gods yes! I miss that entire game so much…

so what are the other items? white wings?
No sign of white wings yet.
The post where they told us this has a picture of the golden pig mini-pet that’s been datamined, so I’d say that’s one of them. Crystal Nomad outfit is likely one of the others, as it’s viewable in game but we don’t know of any event that would fit with it. (It would fit for continuing the story of the Zepherites as they search for a safe place to live, though.)
No idea on the third, but I’d kind of expect a weapon skin of some kind.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
It may depend on what you’re putting them on. Some dyes change depending on the item. Even if it doesn’t seem like they should.
If it’s for one specific item, then preview it on that. If it’s for general use, I would strongly suggest looking for close but cheaper matches to both of them.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
It would cut down on some of it, but I’ve seen bad things from my own team in PvP as well. Things that make me wish I could kill them a time or two for the other team.
The sad fact is that some of the people out there are just jerks. Unless you’re willing to indulge in a whimsical bit of genocide, you’re going to run into them every now and then. And win/lose situations tend to draw them out. It’s a sad truth that PvP is one of those situations, and they’ll always try to find a way to be jerks.
As for the team in Unranked? I’ve never seen a full guild team, but I’ve seen some crystal clear planned teaming done in Practice as well. I don’t get it either.

Suggestions go into the forum of the topic they discuss. This is a general game suggestion, so this is the right forum.
As for the delete system, that was actually added after players far too often deleted things they didn’t really want to delete.

Look, whatever you do, just make it optional, okay?
They’ve already stated that there will be a “restore defaults” button, for starters. Secondly, what they’re doing is giving us more control over it. You can set the controls to match what we have now, and continue on your way.

[Suggestion] Possible tribute to Mr. Spock?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Palador.2170
I’m sure they have a tribute to him in Star Trek Online, which is a far more appropriate venue than GW2.
The very existence of that game is in large part due to him playing that role. And the players there have done a tribute to him.
While it’s good to respect and miss the man, I think that in this case it’s fine to back off and let STO have the moment. (In MMOs, at least.)

If you do decide to farm the level 10 personal story for keys, here’s a few tips:
- Blue gear does not soulbind when equipped. Even if slotted with Runes and Sigils.
- Level 0 gear is actually better than level 1 gear.
- At first, you can only equip one weapon. If it’s a two handed weapon, you still get both Sigils.
- Minor Sigil of Bloodlust is your friend.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
No capes!
(Someone had to say it.)
The practical side of me is sure that they would LOVE to add capes, as they would be big sellers. So, if they’re not adding them, it’s because they can’t.
The side of me that thinks that tinfoil hats are a conspiracy by the Illuminati to make the more mind control-resistant of us willingly strap antennas to our heads says that ANet has another reason for not putting in capes. They’re going to use cape effects so that when Logan emerges from the jungle, he has long, flowing, perfect hair. (See: Ghost Widow)
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
As stated above, you gave them access to the bank to withdraw things. You can’t cry fowl now that they’ve withdrawn things. ANet has no way of knowing what was really happening or why, so they will not get involved.
Sorry.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
Did you try contacting support to see if they’ll help you to keep the name?
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
Yep, quite acceptable.
I still do it, actually. I just have to occasionally buy a new character space for the key farm characters, as I sometimes stumble over a combo or look that has me thinking “I don’t want to delete this one….”
Maybe I should figure out if I’m saving or losing gems at this rate.

- Which character/profession would you rather be?
Human Engineer, heavy on the turrets. Why should I get shot and stabbed? We have machines for that.
- Which game mechanic would you rather not have to contend with?
Only slotting a skill once. If I want to put out three missile launchers, I should be able to do so. Or three rifle turrets.
- What currently unimplemented game mechanic would you wish was implemented?
Heroes/companions. I’d like to have some of my characters with me (though explaining some of my former RP choices to them may be awkward.)
- Which NPC would you be most likely to seek out and befriend or clobber or ________?
The Windmill King! But not to clobber. I think he’s been hit in the head a few times too many already, poor guy.
- Which zone would you choose to call home?
Queensdale or Divinity’s Reach.
- Insert your own questions here!
Why doesn’t the Wolf Shrine in the Foothills sell the Wolf Tonics any more? I wanna be a fluffy puppy!
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
Honestly? I want to unlock them by buying the expansion.
That’s it. No in-game lore or quests for it.
Normally, I’m all for in-game lore and backstory. For this, however, I think it’s best to just say nothing and let people come up with their own reasons for the new developments. There are endless backstories as to why characters become Rangers. There shouldn’t be only one to why characters become a Druid.

I feel bad for the roleplaying part of the community myself.
The incoming flood of dark angels and half tengu are coming.
Better to get it out of the way now, when the overall game story is fairly quiet, than later when HoT goes live.
By the time HoT comes out, the craze will have died down some, and we can go with the next insanity.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
I’m sure that, like the glowing eye masks, we’ll see differently colored versions of them soon enough.
I look forward to them, and I’m happy to buy them from the gemstore (at a reasonable price, mind you).

I like to know how Revenants came to be (lorewise).
Either they just magically appeared out of nowhere or Rytlock somehow found the time to personally teach every revenant in Tyria in just a few days.
I think that PART of what is needed to be a Revenant is already known. Or, rather, parts. A bit here, a bit there, but nobody ever brought them all together.
Rytlock’s time in the mists gave him the missing parts of the puzzle, and showed him how to put it all together. When he returns, he can show that to the ones that already know most of it, and they can quickly get up and running. After that, they can go from teaching parts of it to teaching the whole thing.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
What Knighthonor said, for starters.
Second, I would point out that you’re calling up “Legends”. Not the person’s spirit, but the legend they made, and the imprint it left on the mists. There are usually variations on any legend and different stories surrounding it, so some variations can easily be hand-waved away. And if someone wants to RP calling up some other legend, I’m sure it’s okay as long as it’s kept within reason.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
Azhure, congrats to you and your guild. You’re having fun, playing the game as it was designed, and making people rethink a Pavlovian response of “kill Elemental, run to Ogre”.
Some people may not like that they’ve been caught off guard by the change in pattern, but to quote the Principia: “’Tis an ill wind which blows no minds.”
I’d also like to state that many times, people have killed the FE and then run off to do the SO very quickly. Many other people don’t get there in time, and miss out on the event, even if they do get into the opening. Having the event after the FE doesn’t mean everyone gets a reward for it. That’s part of why I have a fully charged key waiting for a day when I’m in the mood to trigger the event at an odd time. Having that key meant that I walked past a large herd of people calling for someone with a key to unlock the event for them. No one did.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
And now for a more … diplomatic … version of the first post.
For anyone planning to insta-80 a Revenant, may I make a small suggestion? Please remember that you can blow through the personal story up to Clawr Island and get three Black Lion Keys for it. It will net you those three keys, and give you a chance to get a feel for what you do and don’t like about the new class. Yes, you can bring all the weapons and some spare armor with you to Maguuma, but there’s going to be entirely new loot to collect there, and inventory space will be very precious indeed.
Three keys, and a chance to narrow down the list of items you carry with you into the new zone.

Would love a dev response again on this thread. The thread has started circling around because it is 6 pages deep and people can’t be bothered to read other posts so they end up posting the same things as others. Then it is discussed for a few posts, then repeated again. Until we have more information this thread I think has run its course.
We might get a bit more tomorrow. Maybe. If we’re really lucky.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
What’s with the kittens? I posted in another thread this morning and it replaced something like “as of” with kitten. When I went into edit the post it showed what I’d actually typed but out in the forums kept producing kittens.
That’s the forum’s bad word filter. Sadly, it’s a bit … paranoid. If it even thinks you’re trying to get around it, the system will still edit the word(s) to “kitten”.
In time, you’ll learn kittenspeak, and mostly just ignore it.

Might be that some NPCs say things to sylvari that they don’t to other races. We see stuff like that in the game already.

6) Summon the Ghost of Snaff on down.Having the ghost appear and start fighting means you have a better chance of rally. Why Snaff? Because Rytlock is the first Revenant, and I’d say Snaff is one of the spirits he’d look for in the mists, if only to tell him how sorry he is.
I will cry if Snaff isn’t one of the Legends you can channel
but snaff himself isn’t a powerful legend. he was a really smart golemancer, and all around nice guy.
he’s like the nice guy version of tony stark: remove his gadgets, and he’s just a really smart guy.
Yeah, he’s not really a good choice for one of the main legends. But I think he may help Rytlock get back from the mists, and that’s why I suggested him for slot 6.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
Personally, I think it’s a great idea to make it work like they’ve described.
You can choose to watch your energy consumption and stay in a legend for a long time, maybe never needing to change to the other unless it’s more tactically sound for that fight. Or, you can burn through your energy quickly, then switch to a different legend for a more “sustained presence” during the rest of the fight, basically using one legend for a massive opening then switching to your “main”.
Two different ways to approach the limitation, creating two different ways to view the mechanic. I like that.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
what I don’t quite get…
How can utility skills change a playstyle? Isn’t the playstyle mostly defined by your weapon skills?! Or does the Revenant change this considerably, having high-active utility skills?
When I look at the other professions, cooldowns of utility skills are quite high.
Compare a banner warrior to a signet warrior. Now, imagine if during a battle that signet warrior could just hit a button and suddenly start dropping banners instead. Or a traps ranger, when faced with someone that knows to avoid his traps, suddenly changing to shouting commands at the pet to make it more useful, instead.

I’m feeling a bit underwhelmed at the moment, but…
Ever open a box/bucket of basic Legos? There’s really nothing that stands out in it. Yes, there’s a bunch of shapes, but most of them are just variations on a theme. No part of it seems all that impressive or exciting.
And yet… Legos are awesome! (Sorry, couldn’t resist.) Why? Because all of the fairly basic bits can go together in so many different ways, allowing you to do different things with them.
Will HoT have that “Lego Effect”? It’s too soon to say. But I’m not willing to judge it good or bad based off of the few parts we’ve gotten a good look at so far.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
I’m a RolePlayer, and I tend to come up with a back story for just about every character I make (save key farming characters).
Not that long ago, I made a human warrior. Part of his backstory was that he’d spent part of his childhood in an Inquest lab, as a test subject. They were trying to recreate how norn can call up and channel the powers of their totems in the mists, allowing them to be bigger, stronger, and shape shift. The plan was to play him as a bit “off”, and sometimes show that he had more skill and power than anyone of his training should have.
Then HoT was announced, and we started getting details on the Revenant. ::laughs:: So, he’s on the back burner for now, and will be rerolled when HoT comes out. Same name, same looks, same armor, same backstory.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
I’ve thought about it some more, and here’s what I’d like to see:
- Each Legend has 1 heal, 3 utility skills, 1 elite skill.
- Each character has their racial skills, and anti-toxin spray. (If they unlock them, naturally.)
- The class itself has a set of about 5 skills (no heals or elites) unrelated to the main legends. (I’m going to stick to my suggestion of calling them “Crests”.)
You can swap in any of the non-legend skills for the legend skills in that spot. Yes, that means that you can run with NO legend skills, but some people can run without class skills right now, thanks to racial skills.
Crests: These should be named after people that didn’t make the cut as full blown legends, but they were still important enough to be remembered. The effects should be related to the mechanics of the Revenant class and give you some interesting options. One, for example, could take away 25 power (assuming the current level of 100 power with a regain of 5/sec), then 5 seconds later give you back 25 power. If there’s a cooldown on legend switching (and it’s safe to assume there is), then another could change you to your second legend for 10 seconds, then put you back into your current without affecting cooldowns on the change. Another could change you to your other legend without resetting your energy bar.

For reference, ‘Provoke’ is one of several things MMOs call their force-taunts whenever they don’t want to call them force-taunts. As I already said, the closest thing to a proper term for this class of effect in generic MMO jargon is ‘seduce’.
There’s no reason to assume Taunt is just a stun until proven otherwise.
Taunt is already in the game and is not a condition.
Very interesting. I stand corrected. Here is my badge and gun. I shall go sit in the corner now.
Not so fast. What it is now, and what it will be after the expansion hits may be two different things. They may change it a bit.
