First session went great everyone! I see we’re still arguing. That’s cool. Don’t get this thread locked.
I’d love to see Paralda or Zastari severely own you 1v1.
Awh, you remember our duels!
COMMANDERS
- Mental Stability
Probably the most interesting topic. Though can be much more fun to watch when it is lacking.
I put it there because I’m extremely guilty of losing my cool at times, and I nor other commanders should.
1.5 hours until the first seminar, hopefully this biochem class doesn’t run late.
Well I hope everyone who wants to learn shows up! This is the first time I’ve attempted something like this, so I hope I and the other instructors do well.
2.5 hours away from the first session, I’ll see everyone then.
I actually have a question about..future WvW for servers like IoJ and even Yaks. So maguuma obviously doesnt belong with us. I think Yaks vs IoJ vs someone else would be decent. However, curious if the wvw experience would be..better or not. Maguuma is fielding what seems to be 200 on a map or something. I rarely see any yaks on our BL, and it doesnt look like they do a lot on others. I dont know exact numbers for IoJ, but it cant be more than 100 or so. With populations hurting on some of these servers, would we be able to spread out enough to cover at least two BL effectively….would we be spread too thin? Zergs of 5 taking a keep? lol.
Curious to see how it all shakes up once the balancing and ranking is all set.
Curious to see if we will still see 40 man zergs.
Unfortunately, and I mean no disrespect, I think this is a perfect example of one of the problems I see with Yak’s Bend. Your mentality is so rooted in numbers, that you guys seem to give up and forget strategy.
40 man zergs are not the ideal play style, and they are not at all necessary. I run a guild that at most fields 15 people, and there is rarely a tower we can’t take, and a keep we can’t pressure. If I could have one 40 man zerg or two 15 man organized groups, I would go with organization any day. We learned, as a server, how to do this because we were so often outmanned. We know siege placements, work together, know how to ninja, and have some of the best mesmers in the game. These are more important than numbers any day.
My personal opinion, but that doesn’t seem like a good idea to me.
I guess we’ll find out tomorrow!
I hope everyone can make it, and please try to keep this thread positive, I was just hoping to help out some of the newer players, transfer or otherwise, to learn how we play, and to keep Maguuma’s identity alive.
Then again, it wouldn’t be a Maguuma thread without some trolling and flamebaiting.
Hello everyone!
I’m pleased to announce a WvW Boot Camp for Kaineng, hosted by NEO Alliance. With new transfers and current winning status, we can not get complacent, there are still a lot of things to learn. We’ve gotten lazy, and a lot of the times we’ve started to mindlessly zerg around because we’ve felt that we don’t have to do anything else.
Even though our score is impressive, we still have a lot of work to do. This boot camp is for everyone, not just new players! New transfers, regardless of skill, are encouraged to learn how how we WvW. We would also like to encourage primarily PVE players on the server who have been afraid to jump into WvW to show up and learn.
Date(s): 22 Jan, 23 Jan, 24 Jan
Time: 5PM PST Server time
Location: Kaineng BL
Please feel free to jump in ventrilo with us as well Vent Info: NEO.maxfrag.net Port: 44155
Some of the topics we will discuss and demonstrate will include but are not limited to the following:
Siege placement
Communication
X’s on map and what they mean
Predicting enemy movement
Scouting
Movement during assault and defense
Refreshing siege
Supply
Again, all are invited regardless of experience, this will be a combined effort involving any one with good input as well.
Some of these sentences seem oddly familiar…
Even if the outcome is small, a few people is still better than none. A handful of intelligent people can still make a difference.
That’s the hope, at least.
That’s probably the best way to go. Well, that and getting the people who know to spam it in WvW. I don’t see why you posted it on the forums though.
Visibility, mostly. It’s gotten around 700 views. I’m sure at least a few of those are Maguuman.
I wish the 10 people in attendance luck
Hopefully more than that will show up. Not really sure how to advertise this. Maybe Lions Arch spam.
Hello from Kaineng,
It’s a very good idea. Congrats for taking the initiative for your server. This really is something Kaineng needs to consider as well. We are in very similar circumstances. We are enjoying the strong influx we have had but the fact is the last tiers have ben a big push at reset (I don’t even get online until about 7ish on Fridays) and the week is more than won in 2 days. It’s a good time to train.
I am hoping someone from Kaineng takes a similar iniative…funny I was just thinking about this today. We could definitely benefit from it when we meet Maguuma one day
PS
We will be watching your match next week with interest. Best of luck to you.
Thank you for the kind words! I’ll be watching Kaineng’s match as well.
Though I’m not in your server, I think it’s a great server activity. Wish you guys the best of luck in organizing and executing this huge event!
PS: where is the holy grail of Maguuma? —the Holy Ram :P
under which category will that be covered?
Every category =P
I figure we won’t have enough time to do this after the 28th. The matches will be a lot more engaging.
Hello everyone!
I’m pleased to announce Maguuma Boot Camp, a joint venture between the Public Mumble of Maguuma and the guilds of Legion Alliance. With our recent influx of transfers, and our recent dominance, it’s come to the attention of the community that we need to go over a few things. We’ve gotten lazy, and a lot of the time we’ve started to mindlessly zerg around because we’ve felt that we don’t have to do anything else.
No one on the server wants to encourage bad habits, so we’d like to go over how Maguuma plays again. This boot camp is for everyone, not just new players! New transfers, regardless of skill, are encouraged to learn how Maguuma plays, how we communicate, and how we have fun. We would also like to encourage primarily PVE players on the server who have been afraid to jump into WvW to show up and learn.
The training will be broken into 3 tiers; basic, advanced, and commander. Basic training is for anyone who is uncomfortable with their play or feels like they don’t know what’s going on when they enter WvW. Advanced is for anyone who feels they grasp the basics of WvW and would either like to learn how Maguuma specifically plays, or who would like to learn some new techniques and siege placements. Commander training is for any new commander (new in general, or new to the server), or anyone planning to get their tag anytime soon.
The training will take place on Maguuma Borderlands on Wednesday at 5:00 EST and again at 8:00 EST. We will be using the Maguuma Public Mumble to communicate, in the “Boot Camp” channel. Download Mumble here.

btw I did not recognize a single guild from Maguuma tonight, although I did see one guardian with a [GOON] tag, but other than that I have never seen any of the guilds you now have lol. Which server/s did they come from? They are formidable
If you were on EB last night, there’s a good chance you’re referring to WäR, as we had a few good outnumbered battles with YB that we were able to win.
There seems to be a lot of sentiment that we’re “bandwagoners”.. If you’re going to fault us for wanting to play with more organized and better quality players we felt we were on par with, then go ahead. You should be taking it as a compliment as we’ve got some insanely good players. But for me it wasn’t about wanting to win. It’s about spending ridiculous amounts of time and gold just to see a fully upgraded keep or tower fall cause no one would come help you defend it. That’s not fun for me. The game is about having fun.
Note: I wasn’t referring to WäR as bandwagoners above, I actually really like you guys. Was more talking about random players who transferred off, outside of an organized guild transfer.

I guess I’ll give a rundown on what the guild situation is on Maguuma.
Old (Pre-Explosion) Maguuma Guilds: PYRO, EVOH, NOVA, GOA, TTK, FFL, SCRB, ME (formerly FINE, kinda), RMNT, PRED backwards because of censorship (conglomeration of iRez, PANG, MAG, GOON, SFD), HKHS, HDA, EOH (somewhat new, about a month now), SAnD (also somewhat new, I believe), iLL, EK, MATE, DV, and a few others scattered about that I probably don’t remember at the time of writing this because I just woke up.
New Maguuma Guilds: SM (from Ehmry Bay) and WäR (from Borlis Pass).
Each of these guilds regularly field 20-25, so they’re pretty substantial, but as you can see, a lot of our explosion wasn’t from new guilds.
PYRO/EVOH/GOA/TTK/NOVA/FFL/SCRB/ME and recently RMNT have been working together lately in a coordinated effort under a shared banner called Legion Alliance, which has partially affected our scores, because GOA/TTK are getting their PVE players to play a lot more, and PYRO/EVOH/NOVA have been recruiting like crazy.
But a lot of our explosion is, unfortunately, just bandwagoners jumping off DR and BP because they wanted map completion or to be “winners.” (NOTE: Not referring to WäR here, just referring to unorganized random players transferring outside of a guild). Hopefully the queues die down soon so that we can play a bit more together.

Next week DR might look to start targeting Kain from the outset. You will lose the nights, possibly worse than vs Mag, but their daytime crews are quite inexperienced. You and Ebay together should be able to pressure their day guys quite a lot and spend the nights playing the “die as slowly as possible” game playing keep triage. It will definitely be a time to learn some keep defense tricks.
I’m really interested to see how t5 does next week.
They have RE from Darkhaven as their primetime NA crew, I believe, so it won’t be super easy on reset.
Maguuma will probably lose a lot of casual players who recently transferred next week, and I will be incredibly surprised if we win.
However, I am positive that Maguuma will have fun.
Looks like we’re playing IoJ next week. That will be interesting.
I don’t get why everyone is getting bent by this Jessy Cox, sucker. Sure he prematurely objected to how Goon was handling their junk. It’s not like what he spit out all over youtube was more than a mouthful anyhow. He laid it on a bit thick, I agree but im sure once he got it off his chest he knew he probably blew an opportunity to turn around and take it back. I say hands off, and let him shake it out on his own.
It’s not so much ‘getting bent’ as it is flat out making fun of him for making up idiotic conspiracies about goonie hackers as an excuse for being clueless and terrible.
Yeah… he was pretty much 1000% wrong. I’ve never seen a GOON hack or even exploit, and even if I did, there’s like 10-15 active GOONs on nights other than reset.
Eh, I like fight club better. You can tailor your gear more situationally in WvW than you can in sPvP.
Point taken.
Also food.

I love how someone said we are zerguuma.
Obviously these people have never seen higher tiered servers. lol.
Agreed, it’s as if we have more than 5 people in each borderland at all times, even when it’s not the weekend. What cheaters we must be. Us and our terrifying 30 man zergs.
So tempting to desecrate… But I’ll worship from the shadows instead. Probably better for my health.
Lol, good thing, too. That’s when I was doing a double portal. 5 seconds later the entire Maguuma zerg came up to get free badges.
It looks like we’re going to be good old rank 11 again. It feels good to be blue.
Really sad to see former Warband (those who left) taking our last tower on our borderlands. Just makes me sad and sick to my stomach.
Zelse of BP
It’s more sad seeing them inside our citadel fighting us.
Well we wanted to wait until after the weekend, but decided to change our minds and give Evilzara a proper goodbye now instead.
I hope you have fun in Maguuma WaR.
Just please don’t target my server for the things I have done. (Which by the way to everyone who is unfamiliar with the situation, I did not transfer to Maguuma along with WaR)We are having fun, Zara! I wish you had come too though.
So far Maguuma seems like a really good fit for the guild. I can’t speak for the guild as a whole at all, but I don’t think we are targeting BP because of you. All I know is I logged on, asked where we were, and the guys said BPBL so I went there and had fun. I think someone from one of the PACT guilds from BP may have been trolling us, so that might have been a part of why we were there, but I don’t know for sure what the reasons are. I’m just here to play the game and have fun!
This should of never been made public, you are about to cause some major drama.
This is the most reasonable post I have ever seen in one of these threads, and even more surprisingly, it’s from Bunzy.
Waypoints are currently the most powerful upgrade in the game but there are a few issues.
They are only inactive when the defense quest is active, are you guys planning on disabling them slightly longer than the defense quest to allow attackers to keep the defenders from spawning there just as the defense quest lapses?
For example under the current system I can count down on voip the defense quest and spawn in everyone right as it hits zero and before attackers can reflag the keep.
This is definitely a bug. I’ll see about leaving the rally points disabled for a few extra seconds after the event has completed. That way it just stays disabled if the event starts back up.
Honestly, this just ends up turning a siege into a numbers battle. The waypoint thing allows for defenders to have an advantage, even when outnumbered, which they should.
I like that WäR and SM are on the server now, it’s always good to meet new people. As to the people saying we actively recruited them, not really. I know I talked to Caen a little bit, but he already had an alt here, and I talked to WäR a little bit, but they said they were already pretty much decided on transferring.
I’m sure others talked to them, but we really don’t have any organized guild recruiting setups, tbh. We just kind of talk to people that we duel (which is how I met WäR) or people we respect and have played against a million times (which is how I met Caen). There’s no conspiracy, PM me any time and I’d be willing to tell you guys anything I know about Maguuma.
We make no efforts to hide anything.
I would just like to note that Maguuma is no longer losing points.
I’m not sure what people are upset with Mag about/for.
Welcome to our world.
Remember when Ehmry Bay used to blame us for everything? Good times.
I miss being the center of attention, but DR seems to love arguing with DR.
Maguuma doesn’t have a significantly larger population than DR or BP. I know people won’t agree with me on this, but it’s true. I was at reset. DR and BP both had huge zergs over the weekend. However, Maguuma does have a more consistent population, and an almost unbreakable morale. The same people who play on reset are the same people who play the rest of the week. Most other servers drop significantly on Sunday night or Monday morning, but Maguuma does not. Even when we are losing, we have fun.
I want my 10 Alpha siege golems!
gimme gimme!
He’s just downed, probably rallied and killed all of you.
Thanks for the keep, BP.
Rams for the ram god!
Maguuma is, in my opinion, the epitome of tier 4. We were blue t4 for how many matchups?
^^Look up^^, the story is there with the screenshot.
I <3 our mesmers. We had a few hide in East Keep of BP bl, flipped it with 10 people, and held it for two point ticks.
Picture very related.
Hey, Rhyis, I’ve got a story for you…
You left out the rams involved.
Only rams involved were the ones we left in the lord’s rooms.
I wish people were talking about our epic push in DR and BP instead of Bunzy. =(
I’ve been out tonight. Tell me a tale of tales my friend. I wish to hear of every ram involved.
We took DR’s garrison, then BP’s fully upgraded Garrison and fully upgraded East Keep.
I wish people were talking about our epic push in DR and BP instead of Bunzy. =(
I agree with Testpig, merely because being able to have a server wide portal bomb onto the lord’s room every 3 minutes makes defending ridiculously easy.
I don’t understand why Maguuma’s resets are always so bad. We really need to plan our openers better.
Close, Rhyis, however, we’re still going to be T4, just T4 red.
I’m really enjoying this matchup, a lot more than I was enjoying the constant pressure from Ebay that was obviously dragging our score down.
Unfortunately, due to the way the ratings work, Maguuma will actually be ranked below Ebay next week if the score continues as it is, even if we win. That’s a little unfortunate, because we’ll be right back where we’ve been for the past 2 months. This new matchup was a lot more fun.
I really don’t like how Bunzy pulls every discussion on this forum week after week into small group/solo roaming… I mean, I get that’s how he plays, but the vast majority of us do not play that way.
I would really love to discuss tactics and large scale battles as a commander, because that’s how I play the game, but too often the thread is already derailed.
Yep, makes us a lot worse solo with AH.
