It’s okay, guys! As the newly titled “Best Guild of DB” (-Commander Paralda – Leader of [PYRO]), [TG] will be more than happy to balance out the PvF with the occasional joking WvW raids in-game. Yesterday, in Mag BL, we fought [PYRO] and [D|ERP] with a new guild [rB]. After awhile, we had enough members to go about and do our own thing. Then we placed down rams on the bridge south of Hills. Fun battles there, [PYRO]. Unfortunately, because I’m EST, I had to leave shortly after that. So I hope more fun was had with you guys.

Yeah, we had a lot of good fights. [D|ERP] had to keep jumping in and out of the map, so the fights were fairly even, and very enjoyable!

I seriously love fighting [TG]. Your style is so dissimilar to ours, that we’re really learning a lot.

[TG] is probably the hardest to fight. They don’t always run necro heavy, but when they do, it really plays into their hands well. As far as I can tell, they rely on their superior discipline to bait enemy zergs to push into them, while moving backwards or sideways dropping a ton of AOE. We had some of the closest GvG fights with [TG] that we’ve had in months. It seems wrong to not push, but their patience really rewards them. Overall, the best guild on Dragonbrand, bar none.

We had the opportunity to fight against [D|ERP] awhile. It wasn’t a true GvG, but it was [TG] & Company vs. [D|ERP] & Company and they certainly do a lot of the things we do. We had to change our tactics often to prevent [D|ERP] from pulling us into range of the Legendary defenders at the waypoint and whenever we veiled, they would quickly put up walls to block us. It was a very entertaining, but highly mobile and drawn out fight.

When [D|ERP] runs with 20, there’s really not much they can’t do. I love observing their fighting style, because it’s the polar opposite of mine, and it works really well. Same with you guys. Your style is awesome for big fights. I think you had a little bit of trouble adapting to GvG style Red Guard/VotF fighting when [PYRO] and [ME] GvG’d you guys, but I hope you don’t give up on it. With your discipline and numbers, and what will probably be a pretty long matchup, I really want strong GvG partners for guilds like [PYRO], [ME], [DFND], [WäR], and [D|ERP], and you guys, along with [TFV] and [Me] from Yak’s can definitely provide that!

I am always hoping to improve my guild’s open field, and so any time you guys want to spar/GvG, just PM me. Bronade has my mumble info, so he can hop on anytime he likes. We just got a bunch of new recruits, so this week and next week we’ll probably train them up to our style of play. It’d be awesome if we could exchange critiques of each other’s play after matches, so that we both improve.

This is an open invitation to any guild, really, that wants to work on open field. I don’t harbor any hatred to [BP], [CL], [NNK], [EA], [Rawr], or anyone else. Any guild that is willing to work with me, I will work with, regardless of reputation or server. [PYRO] is definitely not the best, or most disciplined, or numerous guild, but I can promise you we’ll give good fights, and hopefully both improve from it. PM me in game (ParaldaWind.4523) and I’ll do my best to set something up.

This has been a pretty good week, ignoring score. [PYRO] has had some great fights, though a lot of us have been busy with exams, so we haven’t been out in force like we were over the weekend.

Props to some of the guilds on the opposing servers. If I had to pick the top three guilds I’ve fought these past two weeks, without a question, it would be [TG], [TFV], followed me [Me]. I don’t really roam often, but the best small scale fights I had were definitely against [AZRG].

I probably enjoy fighting against [TFV] the most, because they have really great coordination of movement, and play with a very offensive, “standard” style like [PYRO]. Think Red Guard or VotF style. I’m always impressed at their ability to stack on a geyser for a second and have everyone blast, healing almost all of them to full instantly. Some criticisms: generally do their own thing, so they can get zerged down easily (not really a bad thing, but still hurts them), and poor stability uptime. After their initial push, you can pretty easily break their movement with lines of warding/static fields/etc. If they would run with some more shout guardians, it would probably help them again. All in all, solid guild.

Fighting [Me] has been interesting, too. From what I can tell, they like to run a really well heavy, necro centered style, that forces you to push into them, and hard-counters boon stacking (mass well of corruption hurts). It took us a bit to adapt to this kind of play, but just having our movement be a bit more disciplined has allowed us to play against this without altering our overall strats too often. We like being a very offensive push heavy group, so not barreling into an enemy zerg with every boon is pretty hard for us sometimes. My only criticisms are that after their initial wells expire, they don’t really push back, and their movement isn’t very disciplined.

Whenever I hear that you’re running around somewhere, I look for you. Do you sPvP a lot? You definitely have great control over your characters and understand each other’s builds a ton. Props.

I don’t understand punishing people for holding on to their badges. I worked hard to get my badges, same as people who get rings with relics.

People, it’s called free will. If you don’t like a particular commander and his yelling, find another one. Natural selection will weed out the bad ones when they find they have no one following them. Kinda hard to do anything if you don’t have the bodies. That, in turn, will establish an acceptable behaviour to emulate when some commanders get more of a following than others.

That said, these guys shoulder a boatload of abuse in whispers you don’t even see. If they’re struggling, offer to help. Squash the negative nellies, and be supportive of folks who are often juggling 100 things at once. And tell them they’re doing a good job if they are — so many times we just follow and don’t give feedback. They need to hear it too.

I didn’t think I would come in here agreeing with Jayne, but here we are.

No matter how well prepared or knowledgeable you are, kitten will hit the fan occasionally, and no matter how well you do consistently, someone will hate your guts. Most commanders have a line of haters a mile long, and it can get frustrating at times.

That being said, it is up to the commander to stay cool under pressure. No point in yelling at pugs. kitten happens, though.

This was around 7ish? to roughly 10:30(I logged off at 10:30), I personally did not see any DB with outmanned, and watched as you guys wiped Yaks at WK, until they took it a bit later.

If you are getting outmanned during NA Prime Time, don’t blame it on numbers, but the guilds that only come in for a bit at a time, their so called, ‘Raid Times’. That’s DB’s NA problem, not numbers, but time spent WvWing. I’ve seen DB fill EB & DB BL up to the max easily, and still be attacking another BL. Then on the flip side during NA Prime time, I see your numbers vanish for a bit, because ‘raid time’ is over.

How is it not numbers if we’re getting outmanned? That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. Whether or not it’s from guilds moving in or out, or pugs moving in or out, or people doing the JP’s, the outmanned buff says one thing … you don’t have enough people!

Also, it’s not like the guild raid time factor you guys are talking about is in any way a fact. It’s a nice theory, but it doesn’t mean it’s true. So far, I’m thinking you guys are just fond of making stuff up to suit your needs instead of looking at things objectively.

I still don’t understand why DB wants to recruit more NA.

Your NA population is (gasp) about as large as Maguuma’s, possibly larger at some times. Last night, we took your entire borderland with 30 people. You had 30 people, too. We had some good fights, but ultimately kept you contained to one or two towers for an hour or two.

All of a sudden, out of nowhere, 60+ come and take back their garrison. You get the west keep back, and then we hold down the east keep for about an hour. Just as suddenly as the 60+ came, they were gone, so our 30 fought your 30, won a bunch, and took your borderland again.

An hour later, this same process happens again, except this time you come back with even more. If you guys would just spread out your play to have 40 people in a borderland all the time, instead of 20 for awhile, then 60+ for an hour, you would be doing much better.

Plus, ignoring the fact that your NA presence is fine (probably stronger than Yak’s NA presence, as far as population goes), if you had even more NA, you would destabilize a relatively even fight, and jump up and down from T2 every week, like FA did for awhile, or like Maguuma did with T3/T4 for the past few months.

Tl;dr: your NA population is fine, just utilize it better.

Is WvW more of a PvE activity for DB SEA players?

When mag hits 400-500 ppt in unbalanced matches, we actually lose players because it is very boring and usually pvd.

How do you keep interest in logging in every night to wipe the maps and then log off? Is it strictly for karma/xp? You guys have been at it for many, many months now.

Actually we took the entire map with the evening/nigth crew, when the oceanic guys arrived we had all upgraded, and 2 days winning at NA prime time says all.

If you aren’t capping 695 then there is always something still to do. I’ve been around during these mornings and even though there are far fewer defenders they are still there in certain areas to fight. This morning is the first time this week that it hit these extreme levels for such a long time.

I think the whole pvd gets blown out of perportion and it does a disservice to the guys who exist and are out there trying to stop the DB swarms. They are out there..

No one was arguing it’s only PvD… we’re just confused as to why it’s enjoyable enough for them to show up every night.

Our matchup vs CD and SBI wasn’t what you’d call PvD, but it was still boring as mud. Fighting while outnumbering your opponent just isn’t that much fun to me.

I’m 99% sure mods just ignore Maguuma threads at this point.

I like my build, the problem is, I feel like it’s the only one that exists, at least for WvW.

I run the generic 0/5/30/30/5 AH/PoV/Emp Might shout build, with a hammer and staff. I have 35% crit chance, 65% crit damage, 18k health, 3k attack, and 3k armor.

I hate not having any real utility. The stability/regen/prot uptime is great, I guess, but being a stat box doesn’t let me really explore the possibilities of the class. I’ve thought about putting 10 into virtues, but it feels required to have altruistic healing, just because it’s so ridiculously good.

I don’t know how to tackle the altruistic healing problem, but maybe I know how to fix the pure of voice debacle…

I run shouts for two reasons, namely:

1. Condition Removal
2. Stability

I would love it if some normally under utilized weapon sets would be able to take on these roles, so that not every guardian has to trait the same way. Stability instead of protection on shield would be great, or maybe condition removal on sword might help.

Honestly, our “night-crew” is just NA players staying up late to play the game. I’m guild leader of an almost entirely NA guild (we have two oceanics) who lives in the east coast, and I’m up until 3 AM most nights with around 10-15 guildies. Huge, who needs to probably sleep at this point, is also NA, and will regularly stay up until 7 or 8 AM.

I think your problem (Dragonbrand NA) really has nothing to do with coverage or time zones. You could very easily be stomping us if you didn’t rely on two things so heavily:

One, your night/morning/day/oceanic/asian/whatever crew. It’s very obvious to me that you guys don’t seem to really care about holding your stuff before your primetime ends, because you’re used to waking up/getting back from work/school and it all being fully upgraded again. That’s a bad habit, I think, because you give up around midnight EST, which gives most servers a good 6 hours of free stuff before NNK logs on.

Two, raid times. You guys have huge artificial holes in your coverage. There will be times, every day, that I will see gigantic zergs from the same guild on a map, have some awesome fights for an hour or two, then see less than 10 people on your borderlands for another hour or two, until the next guild zerg logs on. This leads to a few problems, namely that we can just weather the storm for an hour and take all your stuff again after, and that your guild groups aren’t necessarily extremely experienced in WvW, since it’s clear that they only really do it during these “raid times.” I don’t know of many guilds on Maguuma that have raid times. My guild and the ones I run with are in WvW pretty much all of the time, and guild groups don’t even make up 1/5th of the population of Maguuma, honestly.

There’s such a stark contrast between your population during these raid times and your lull periods that it’s almost comical. If you would ditch the events and just spread out your play all day, you’d probably fare much, much better.

I don’t think most servers realize how under populated our server really is (outside of Eternal)… we just communicate and move around a lot. So it seems like we’re everywhere, but we’re not.

If it’s anything like it’s been the last couple of weeks I can answer why YB doesn’t take our BL back at roughly the time you posted.

At that time of day (at least on weekdays, I’m not a weekend WvW player so I don’t know if the situation is the same), we’re lucky to have 10 people willing to work together and even luckier to have one commander in WvW at all. NNK takes YBBL while we have very few online, fully upgrades, then shows up with 2-3 times the number of players we generally have on the entire map anytime we show up to retake anything. So, we take the 5-10 players willing to work together and hit targets we have a shot at taking instead of wasting time hitting fully upgraded keeps knowing that NNK will waypoint in and greatly outnumber our commanderless force.

I think he was referring to the 50 man CL zerg that kept hitting mag bl while their own borderland looked bad.

DB has been giving some really good fights this week. I think you guys go to bed a little too soon, though.

Must be nice knowing that it’ll all be safe in a few hours.

Camping JP is a 100% legit tactic for sure. PvP zone and all that. But it also says a lot about what your mindset is in the game. Very similar to what PKing was in HC D2. Legit yet very poor manners. It’s basically – “you don’t want to fight me, I know that but I will still kill you because the game allows. I’m enjoying the fact that I’m annoying you”.

During all our time in T1 and then down from there, there were only a few servers and guilds (JQ at some point, SoS and BG) that did that and they did share some “values”. I don’t remember seeing a TC or YB group camp the JP (though I could be wrong)

See – the usual argument is that “you are preventing the opponent from getting siege to use against you”. And ? More siege on the opponent side means more of them coming out to fight, and hopefully enjoying the game. PvErs who come to WvW only for exploring and JPs might decide to stay longer is they enjoy the experience.

I know that back when we were fighting IoJ and DR, and we were dominating the tier, I’ve done a few times the mesmer portaling job in EBJP. We never interfered with the opponents doing the same thing.

And all the “it’s your fault for not bringing more or using invis” – it’s the equivalent of a schoolyard bully claiming it’s his victim’s fault for not “l2fight” or “get more friends”.

JP camping is, ultimately, bullying. Treating the other players as enemies instead of playing partners.

Really? Bullying? If you’re that afraid of doing PvP, you shouldn’t be in WvW.

Here’s some suggestions… Use misdirection. You could have sent 5 people to cap east keep, make us respond, and bum rush the garrison. Or vice versa, you could have left 3 people at your tower and taken east quickly.

You could have built a slightly closer open field treb to hit our inner wall, instead of running into a breach defended by people you knew could easily kill you.

I’m the open field, try might stacking, area stability, and moving FORWARD as a group. If you let yourself get pushed, you will die. You cannot just back up or stand still.

As for commanding, bring trays of food for your players. That way, they’ll be a bit stronger in straight up fights and like you a bit more.

Also, supply. That tower was sieged up enough that 3 people could have held it. Use your other 15 to take camps, come back, build open field trebs or other siege, and move up slowly that way.

We tried to do exactly that, but most of our commanders are taking a break from commanding, and most people are in love with the super adventure box (CD is mainly a PvE server after all), so we only had one commander trying to coordinate everything and that can be hard as hell.

None of the things that I suggested needed more than one commander to do. Every server is experiencing the SAB problem. For the first time ever, most of my guild was not in WvW, and they were all in SAB.

However, there were times where you guys clearly had 30-40, would wipe once or twice, and would completely give up for an hour or two. It very clearly was not a numbers issues, because, as I said, we had 10-15 people most of the night, and around 25 when we were at our biggest. I checked this multiple times with /supplyinfo while we were stacking up, and I’m not saying it to make us look better or to make you look worse.

You guys wanted suggestions on how to improve, I gave some. Don’t write them off just because people are doing Super Adventure Box. That’s irrelevant and will not help you improve.

Are you talking about last nights Garrison, 12AM EST. time? I was commanding and i just couldn’t crack your defense. I think our numbers were similar, if its the same case tonight ill be there again it was fun back and forth from garrison to cliffside!

I was there, last night. We eventually lost it because we got bored of farming you guys. We’d been there about 6-7 hours at that point, and only really had four or five good fights. Most everyone, myself included, cleared out at around midnight. I heard we lost the garrison after that, but it didn’t really bother me.

Ya’ll need to work on your open field so we can have better fights.

I was there, last night. We eventually lost it because we got bored of farming you guys. We’d been there about 6-7 hours at that point, and only really had four or five good fights. Most everyone, myself included, cleared out at around midnight. I heard we lost the garrison after that, but it didn’t really bother me.

Ya’ll need to work on your open field so we can have better fights.

I can’t make any promises, because nothing is set in stone yet, but that is something I would like to address, yes.

Seven months of people pointing out the sheer impossibility of obtaining any of the wvw titles in any reasonable timespan and it’s finally reached the stage of ’it’s something I’d like to address’.

I can’t speak to what has or has not been done in the past, but I have just started to improve WvW and I hope you can all provide me the benefit of the doubt. For at least one build, then you can return to the gnashing of teeth as usual.

Yeah, was a lot of fun. First on SBI BL, then on Mag’s BL, then back to SBI BL (Garrison takeover was brutal).

Maguuma does an excellent job of inter-server communication; you guys are very quick to respond and move to quash any threats to your real estate. And though the term zerg is oftentimes thrown about a bit too loosely (on the other hand, kitten you have a lot of bodies at times) there are certainly some guilds on Mag who work very well together. Anytime we see the guildtags of PYRO, or iLL, or WaR, we know we’re in for a good fight; I’m sure there are some I’m missing as well.

I’d love to do some more GvG Paralda, maybe Thursday night EST? We definitely enjoyed the last time we met, and I hope we can be a bit more of a challenge this time as well.

But I’d really love to get a shot at that Tsazari guy, he’s just so…notorious. wink

I’m sure DURP and Razi would love to set up a gvg, too.

You guys are stomping in the gvg against the random mumble group when I’ve been on. Really improved a lot over the last few weeks! If it weren’t for time zones a lot of mag guilds would love to do 15+ gvgs against Awe. I’d love to see PYRO or ME vs Awe.

ME and PYRO asked them to gvg last night, but they weren’t up for it.

I got tired of killing CD bads over and over so I decided to solo guild groups from SBI. Here’s one of me killing most of the [EA] guild in one go. It was probably just a lucky battle though since I don’t actually have any skill and just save the wins instead of losses. Ignore the 25 stacks and outmanned buff please, I swear I got those from farming coyotes instead of SBI for the hour before.

I mentioned in another post how some of the MAG trash talk is point and laugh material…..this is a good example as are most by this person……cherry picked video like this is pretty meaningless. like another poster suggested, if you really want the credibility and recognition you seem to crave post an uncut video from when you leave spawn for an extended time through many uncut fights….everyone has their good and bad moments…showing highlights of just your good ones and trying to say it’s typical is very comical and is only “typical” of insecure children if anything.

Honestly, his post is doing exactly as he intended. Trolling or not, though, Razi is one of the best solo players and commanders on Maguuma. These videos hardly show his full skill.

Yes, I don’t base this on Nightcrew. Yak’s bend Nightcrew is a little bit weaker than your guys. But their NA crew is strong/consistent. Just saying after having fought you guys for some time now.

Maguuma has an addiction, and one man is supplying us. The first image is the normal golem standby. Those despawned so the second picture happened.

You know….it’s kinda a shame that so many free to play games give such a big advantage to those with the larger RL bank accounts….

They’re exaggerating. I get most of my golems from donations. Generally everyone in my guild has at least one or two that they’ve gotten from random drops or from jumping puzzles. At any given time, I probably have 20 golems, and access to guild golems as well.

They’re incredibly effective weapons, probably the best siege if utilized correctly, and guild golems are only slightly more expensive than rams, so there’s really no downside to them.

OK, but it is still a battle of the haves vs the have nots….if we ever have more then 2 golem at one time it is a major golem rush for us…(I think I have seen 5 max at one time since all the big guilds left)

While you guys have havocs with that many….and as many as 20 with your zergs…..20 gold for one rush!? I have never even had 20 gold total at one time! o.O

No one buys golems with gold… Badges or jp for 90 percent of them, and then guilds with guild golems are always around. It’s not hard to get 6 or 7 at any time.
