It is weird that one server would have more than its share of hackers, but it seems like DB somehow does. Just watched an ele doing some pretty impressive speedhacking. Sadly, by the time I realized it wasn’t lag he was far out of target range.

I don’t think FA is t2 material yet. We can’t dominate or at least pull ahead every single hour of the day, so we probably don’t have to coverage to take on a T1 server + TC

I feel like FA is well matched against TC, while Maguuma is well matched against DB. However, neither Maguuma nor FA can handle it when a server from a higher tier is playing them as well.

Though, I feel like FA would do really well against Kaineng.

[MATE] has been on Maguuma for a while. [EK] has been on Maguuma since forever. I’ve spoken to Paralda about some of the things they do community wise which are very interesting but focused predominately in PvE. There are some [EK] guys that I know of that hop into WvW and are regulars.

Nevertheless I’ve never heard of anything quite like the things they can do on our server. Paralda has seen them do things like rally the whole of Lion’s Arch, get them to rampage through Orr Shrines and end up with literally a 100+ man army moving as one. Whatever language they use and openness they have is very effective at getting alot of Maguuma players together to achieve a common goal. I think thats incredible. Imagine if that enthusiasm can be harnessed in WvW?

In the Devonas/Borlis matches our active population seemed to swell dramatically and we have never actively recruited. I sometimes think that alot of the players that turned out were here all along but we haven’t always made WvW the most inviting place to be, especially when its high pressure (like when we are getting outnumbered, hard). So if the MPA guys ever express an interest getting something organized together in WvW and trying to cultivate the right attitude to make really good creative PvP players than I’ll support it.

We can organize a server wide event to raid FA’s borderland over 2 days with everyone drinking Quaggan tonics. You will desecrate the Temple of Storms no more Aspenwooooooood.

We don’t have a fancy website, but Legion Alliance has over 1500 members, and consists of the guilds PYRO, EVOH, GOA, TTK, ME, NOVA, RMNT, FFL, and SCRB. We mostly just coordinate on reset night and some other times throughout the week, but we can queue two borderlands if we all show up.

I know that TRA (The Raven Alliance) also has over 600 active members, and they’re really good.

It’s unfair for one alliance to call themselves, “the largest and most powerful but also the most prestegious (sic) Guild Wars 2 alliance on the Maguuma server,” because it simply is not true.

It actually says second largest on the site.

I know Maguuma dropping down only one tier, from T4 to T5 caused two weeks of insane roflstomping. The same happens when FA drops into T3…

There is a world of difference between tiers, and I don’t think a ratings reset would change anything for ET or FC.

The problems are two-fold:

1. ET and FC do not have an appropriately matched third opponent, and more importantly:

2. ET/FC’s low ratings cause an excessive dragging effect on SF (or any other server eventually in SF’s current situation) which makes it very difficult for overqualified servers to get out of T8 when they are forced to fill that open slot.

The 2nd problem is the one that I think can be more easily dealt with, as it is caused primarily by how ratings are calculated. Problem #1 is not a simple fix, as you correctly point out. However, not being simple doesn’t invalidate it as a problem, and at the very least something could be done to help alleviate problem #2.

Just wanted to say, just finished a battle in DB BL against a Mag player from PYRO guild. It was the most epic fight with only a few players I’ve ever had. I saw a mesmer on the other side of a trail outside of DB we both bowed, moved towards each other and attacked. Truth be told he owned me hard but after he cleared me and my team mate he came up to each of us and bowed. There’s true playership for you. I salute you whoever you were. Definitely worth the death.

As co-leader of PYRO, I’m glad this person represented our guild so nobly.

The more I see people describe WM, I’m seeing it more as multiboxing. Not botting.

From my understanding, anet considers multiboxing in this game fine as long as the players use different inputs for each account. If they are able to press one button and have all four accounts do the same thing at the same time, it enters botting territory.

On a less insulting note, I actually think that TL is really good. I was leading Mag BL last night when we took back our West Keep, East Keep, then West Keep again, and you guys reminded me of BT or AoN, except you knew how to use siege, and weren’t quite as good at open field combat.

There’s no doubt in my mind that TL is the best of Kaineng, with WM following. The only reason I don’t have WM as the best is that while I admire their dedication and discipline, I fundamentally disagree with the way they fight, and think they’re not using all of their discipline to the fullest extent.

Speaking as someone in attendence at the Dragonbrand pre-reset server meeting, and who stays in contact with many of the guilds and leaders on Dragonbrand often, I can assure you there has never been any sort of alliance with Maguuma. I did musingly toy with the idea of reaching out to Maguuma but my own guildmates and various others were adamantly opposed to the idea(a lot of them really don’t like Maguuma).

I know the narrative put out on Kaineng is that there was double-teaming going on. But I think that shows a deep misunderstanding of basic WvW reset-night strategy. Whoever holds Stonemist will be attacked by both servers. On borderlands maps you do not attack laterally, you always attack north against the defending home server.

Dragonbrand attacked north on MAG bl, Dragonbrand attacked north on KAIN bl, Dragonbrand attacked the owner of Stonemist in EBG, Dragonbrand defended against both MAG and KAIN in its homeland.

This is basic strategy. No conspiracy theories needed.

Posts like this are why I really like Dragonbrand.

I don’t really care about losing. Maguuma loses a lot, and when we do win, it’s against dead servers. We have never had very good coverage, and our population went back to normal after last week.

However, to imply that we are losing solely due to anyone who is posting in this thread is laughable.

The new and improved Mag is more civil than usual, no flamy Bunzy posts (wonder if he has been banned from the forums again, lol), and I’ve actually seen ::gasp:: compliments! I got ganked by several folks from Kain, I was downed… and someone from Mag’s OG guild proceeded to take them out, ran over to my corpse, bowed and went on their merry way! =)

Not that I think that counts as proof. But it would be nice if Anet let us see our position in the queue to help know if it’s at least moving. That would go a long way towards getting rid of that sort of complaint, I think.

Ask your WM buddies to log some bots off so you can get in next time.

They’re either botting or just terrible individual players… they only auto attack/heal, don’t interrupt stakes, never break off from the group to do objectives, and if they don’t wipe the enemy with their first push they wipe or take 15+ minutes to take a supply camp and give up and leave.

Any ground-targeted CC’s seem to wipe them pretty easily, too… static field, line of warding, ring of warding, marks, fears, anything. They just fall apart when they can’t move as a giant ball… Speaking of which, it’s incredibly surprising that they can stay so balled up especially when they’re in Korea. You’d figure that the network lag would be so variable from there that they would be unable to stay that close together without a follow command.

My point was the hold for roughly 3 1/2 to 4 hours last night when that’s all that was held in EB for Kain. One green speck in the middle of the map. I was in MBL so I wasn’t there, but I know who was there.

Lol, it wasn’t nearly that long… I saw it flip twice before 11:00 EST, and reset was at 7:30 EST.

Shame there isn’t more quality guilds on Maguuma/Dragonbrand, or at least none that we’ve seen yet. Matchup has been pretty bland in our BL.

The laughing stock speaks… Even AoN has love for Maguuma… I’m pretty sure ShadowMoom (good Maguuma guild) has taken and still holds 2 of your 3 keeps and is farming your players at some random hole that hey allowed to be blown in a wall. If you dont like the match-up maybe you should transfer… again. The TL players that I saw in Mag BL didnt last too long,, they died pretty regularly to our pugs. WTH happened to you guys? (TL) you at least were able to put up a decent fight at one point.

Hey, don’t forget about PYRO/NOVA/ME who helped take that garrison and DER|P who took west keep. DER|P/PYRO/SM also retook garrison almost immediately after it flipped for the first time in 8 hours.

Also don’t forget about EVOH/WäR/PYRO/DFND/iLL/OG who took Kain’s main keep in eternal 4 times, and flipped SM at least as many times.

I’m not really sure who pushed DB’s borderland, or who defended Mag bl tonight, but either way, someone suggesting that Maguuma has few quality guilds needs to learn what quality means.

Gotta appreciate the little victories. Had a couple fun hours in FA borderlands last night.

Paralda and friends walked into the hole in West keep just as it flipped to FA or DB, can’t remember which., then catapulted the inner wall down.

Good times.

Finally some recognition! Bunzy can get 3 pages dedicated to him wiping at a supply camp and I barely get a mention after taking two keeps and almost taking a fully upgraded garrison three times. TriM and the other guilds of Legion alliance were a great help, as well, not to mention all the others who helped us out, like DFND.

I see a lot of people complaining about fun, but PYRO has been out every night with 10-15 people zergbusting or making things happen. This match up is what we make it.

Welp with the announcement of the reset and maguuma not having a strong night time, we’re currently outmanned in our bl. This kinda sucks.

after next weeks match up change it’ll be interesting to see how Dragonbrands and Kainengs Asian hordes handle each other. either way maguma will be waking up to a fully occupated BL i think.

Honestly guys… OG is a great guild, and as a commander, if I could control their movements, I would worry about so much less. BT is also a great guild, and their large-scale open combat is just as valid as OG’s roaming.

Honestly, after reset I haven’t noticed as many queues as we were having in the last few match ups. I think a lot of the bandwagon left or gave up.

I don’t really think BT is a zerg guild. Most of the people I’ve talked to find BT to be our biggest challenge, and we all seem to respect you guys. Just ignore the forum warriors who say otherwise.
