PLAYING HOW THEY WANT
This is the most disgusting excuse in this forum. Sorry but, for instance in Wurm fight you are not allowed to play how you want. It is not because we are elite or hardcore, it is because there is a working system in that fight. Every single player in that map HAVE TO play according to that system. It is not because we are elite and you are not, it is because we are wasting our times to do something in there, and your ignorance can cause us a failure. Just because you wanna play as you want, you can’t waste x many players’ time that are participating to an event.
You have to understand that whether you are playing +10 hours or -10 hours, if you participate a big event, you have a responsibility to other players in that map, like the other players have a responsibility to you.
And again, you had to kill after I left main Bloodtide -_-
Also, some players reported that they got their Cobalt kill for decapacitation achievement.
We decapacitated Crimson and Amber wurms easily, Cobalt group did his job when timer hit 00:00. We got Golden Chest at that point and event failed. If we really failed, we had to get Silver Chest.
Moreover, while Cobalt and Amber wurm bodies dissappeared, Crimson body continue its phase 2. We killed it and nothing happened of course.
Well, I don’t think increasing timer from 2:00 to 2:10 is not a hard fix to implement.

Your suggestion has only one flaw. Casuals will whine in forums “Why do we have to get bad rewards than that small portion of community? We are the majority, give us everything and give them immediately!”

We’d like to get the invulnerability bug fixed first before changing any timers or balance of this phase, and so that is currently in progress.

You don’t need to wait idle if you just wanna do the boss. You can go for Teqila first, then Mario and then Wurm. You can change the place of Teqila and Wurm in this sequence. Or you can do other World bosses in that 2 hours.
You have to wait for 2 hours if you wanna do that bosses in your main map and that problem is not about timing. It is about server capacity.
Geez as if Wurm and Teqila spawn one time in a day. Do one boss and then go for the other.
And I don’t care about you being a casual or not having enough time to play.
2:30 can be good for all participants. With fake 2:00, a DPS check is almost necessary. Thanks to that genius in Anet, you lose 10 seconds or more because of the animation of wurm and for the rest of the dps race, every single player have to be a zerker+all increase damaged traits. So even all 150 players in the map follow commanders’ instructions, there is still a %49 chance for a fail because of not DPS geared people.
But of course I’d like to try a true 2:00 attempt before any time increase =)

This is a complete lie.
I have done Lane two boss with 3 rangers inside and was the second group with their kill at 50 secs left.
It has nothing to do with rangers.
I did lane 2 with x many rangers and my lane failed it every single time. Your single example does not change the fact that rangers with PETs suck in lane 2.
About that dramatic decrease in hp in 2nd phase, if you say it just looking to UI, it is not some kind of trick. UI refreshes itself in every %10 hp.
They said that they had technical difficulties about helping others in Mario fight so they removed that possibility.
For Wurm, you can target them just at the beginning of fight without problem.

Can someone from deso post the strategy you used? a vague outline is fine. My server still splits into 3 groups and tries to take down each wurm… which I’m assuming is not how you did it.
Meh I was in almost all attempts except that last one today -_-
- There is more or less 50 players in each group.
- For Amber, there is no grouping. All players in this group act as one single zerg. Kill abomination, get yellow thing on your head, wait for being eaten without dying. After wurm spit you out, don’t fail to hit it with harpoon and dps. Untill your debuff is gone, clear mobs. Then, repeat.
- For Crimson, there is one -5 people- condition group and rest is fill containers. At dps phase just dps =)
- For Cobalt, just watch the video.
- First phase is more or less depends on Amber group because of “wurm can’t eat you” debuff. For instance, in one of our attempts, we damaged all heads to %3 health and amber needed one more dps phase for a kill. So other groups waited Amber but they couldn’t make it in time and other groups couldn’t kill their heads at the last 1 minute.
- Second phase is just dps race as long as you have enough knowledge about your class and the boss. While boss is moving just use range attacks. When it starts do move like madcows stay away and don’t die. When he stops acting like a madcow, dps hard. As long as most of the group(above %90) stay alive, not even downed state, till the end, you can do enough dps.
And of course it had to be after i closed the game because of burning eyes -_-
It is a confirmed random scaling bug. Time to time its hp scaled up and you do less damage or the other way.
The problem is not downing heads (first phase) as long as one of the groups don’t mess it up.
For instance today we downed all three heads to %2-3ish at first phase but just because we waited Amber guys 10 seconds longer, none of the heads were defeated. Cobalt was the fastest one i guess we had 6 minutes when they reach the %2-3 limit. Then Crimson health downed to same place in 3 minutes. Amber caught us at the end of last 2 minutes and they needed to one last dps phase (which is the most time consuming wurm to hit).
By the way, in an event even 1 second means a lot, putting +10 seconds of animation/invul periods to bosses is definitely NOT a good idea. If you give bosses such mechanics, timer should be stopped in that times. For instance, the attempt I mentioned above is lost because of wurm’s 15 seconds of animation phase. We filled each container at last 25 seconds, and we had only 10 seconds to hit the wurm when animation ended.

You can identify people that are not in teamspeak by just asking “Do x if you are in TS” and check who does your instructions or not. It is not hard, right?
One shouldn’t need 3rd party program, I agree. But you must use it, because ANet did not put any voice chat in its game. So instead of whining “i dont wanna install programs to my computer to play a game” just google Teamspeak and install it. It will take less time to install it than whining in forums. Also believe me, installing teamspeak or another program won’t kill you. Also, when we start to defeat wurm more and more, people will memorize tactics. Eventually you won’t use TS after a while. If you want an example, just look at Teqila. You don’t even need any commenders to kill that winged lizard anymore because players learned how to defeat it.
Also, LIMIT guesting to high populated servers please. It is 10 am in my country and both Lornar Pass and Bloodtide Coast have overflows. Remove those guests from my server.

All with ascended gear would increase success rate by %1-2 at maximum.
Congratulations Anet. You have managed to bring in the Raider Elite mindset lock, stock and barrel into your “different” MMO.
Too bad you didn’t finish the job and bring in the instanced mechanics.
Tell me about dat Raider Elite mindset. Nobody wants any player in Bloodtide Cost to have certain builds or a lower bound for AP or any such kind of things. The only thing you MUST do is to enter your server’s teamspeak, or whatever your server is using, and listen to your commanders.
And casuals, you still have your easymode PvE map. If you don’t like to hard bosses you are free to kill other easier bosses. Stop whining “why wurm is soo hard? why wurm needs x person? why only organized people can kill it?” stuff. It was clearly stated that wurm will be kitten hard and need a lot organization than Teqila.
Because when you start “go home guests” chanting, they react =) Also, I can identify several different server’s guilds that I saw in WvW mostly.

Guesting to highly populated servers is a problem.
Low populated servers without a guesting function is a problem. So read below carefully:
“Guesting should be available to low/medium populated servers in another. Maybe also to high. Don’t let guesting to very high populated servers; because they have already enough people to fill a map.”
So, you can find a lot of people that wanna do xyz bosses in another low/medium populated server. Highly populated servers can create overflows with their OWN population. And the problem is solved.
Should I really explain the elephant in this room?
The achievement is bound to SUCCESS of your WHOLE group that trying to break ONE chain. It is not different than “relying on others” to get a “kill xyz boss” achievement or achievements that are bound to death of a boss.

That guy has a point. Whiners whine for every single, little thing that are not even a serious problem. If you couldn’t get your mighty achievement by just pressing “V” button at right time(by the way you don’t even need to press V. You just have to avoid getting dmg from aoe circles), who cares? There are dozens of players also got their achievements by relying to others. Stop crying in forums everytime and play your game. You have at least 12 -at most 28- days to get your achievement points.
Geez as if they will give you golden medal for those achievements.
If your on BG/deso it IS most likely your own population with a small % of guesters. Hell I’m on EB and we have overflows a lot. And who the hell guests on EB? Furthermore if I guest to any higher pop server and wait my time out, screw some pve scrub who waited too long to try and get in. Don’t be ignorant, plan accordingly. State your concern about the system not kittening rage all over the forums “its not fair!” and anet will consider the options it has and make a decision. Otherwise if this is that game breaking for you, PEACE

Desolation has the biggest pve population in EU more or less.
That is how guesting actually works nowadays.
The low/medium populated servers’ players should understand that you are leeching a system which is originally build for “playing with your friends”. It was not implemented to guest high populated servers to steal home server players’ spots and chests.
Removing guest system is not necessary but it should have some other restrictions. I will re-write my suggestion:
Players should be allowed to guest to “lower/medium” populated server. Not very high/high populated ones. Maybe there can be also clock limit implemented such a way that in the mornings till some xx time guesting is unlimited. But at prime times, guests in highly populated servers should be kicked and no more guests should be allowed to enter to this servers. Low/Medium populated servers does not need this restriction.
As a last note: I am from Desolation in EU and yes Desolation can fill a map with its own players and I am fine with it as long as servers’ own players are filling the maps.

Home server players HAVE TO have priority against ANY guest.
Just because a random, jobless guest guy like to wait 894729824982 hours before an event, you cant kick home server’s players into overflow.
Who cares blues and greens and greys.
No, loots because Anet learnt the mentality of looters. If they let champs to drop loots, events will be farmed for those champs.

Related to topic, please stop writing same irrelevant, not even a solution sentence “Take your spot x hours before.” There is something broken in here and you are just dodging the real problem.
As i said in my previous, deleted 2 topics:

Guesting should be from higher population to lower population server.
I hate guests in Desolation Sparkfly. Don’t come to Desolation. Take all guests with you and go kill your beloved dragon in Vabbi or some other less populated servers. If you really wanna kill your dragon in Desolation, pay your money/gold for a transfer. Then, curse guests with us ^^
For EU, if they disable guesting or if they disable chests for guests, other servers can find a zerg in their Teqila fight too.
Also, after months Teqila fight becomes very simple. In Desolation, we are not even using a TS to communicate. If a player is lucky enough to enter main map, all they need to do is following the crowd. The problem is ezmoder players. They whine and whine for everything that is harder than level 1 dolyak.
Conclusion: I dont like guests in my server, Desolation. Do not come Desolation please. Do not steal my spot and my loot.

While they did threaten that they’d release more content like Tequatl, I really wish they’d scale back their expectations for these encounters. It’s impossible to do Tequatl without an overly coordinated group using teamspeak with nearly an entire zone of players doing the event. While they may be easy, they should aim for a much lower point for player participation or these things will be ghost towns on 99% of servers just like Tequatl is now.
You dont need ts for Teqila anymore. At least in Desolation we dont use it. My only problem with Teqila is the guesting system. People zerging to our beloved server to take our places and our loots.

No, game is not moving in right direction. They nerfed elemantalist, the most nerfed class in this game, again. I hope the super genius guys that are responsible with class balance will turn us to dollies. Even dollies have more usage than elemantalists.
You can just make your own LFG with something like “LFXM – Level X – NOT ROLLING SWAMPLAND” and then play the game. If you liked your pug add them to your friendlist and keep playing with them.
Problem solved.
