There’s a fundamental difference between someone that might have a hard time dealing with regular life, and someone that simply chooses it as a lifestyle. I don’t mean to diminish the OP in anyway and it’s a great inspirational story, but I feel like a lot of people don’t have legitimate problems to escape from. They choose to escape mundane problems and that’s not healthy.
But hey, maybe I’m just a hater : /

Yea. I agree with others that we should have both. I love the mix and match of armor sets but outfits are just amazing for leveling. I don’t have to look like a cobbled together clown!

Not actually a criticism of mesmer, but god kitten do I hate fighting them. Most of the time they’re sporting a build with lots of dupes and teleport around. It’s so incredibly frustrating. That’s what the class was made for but I still find it super annoying. I’ll have to roll one sometime. Learn their secrets.

There are dozens of mechanics that allow people to simply flee combat. I’m ok with speed buffs and teleports, but the ability to just jump repeatedly and get away is total horse kitten. They need to make it much harder for people to just run away and wait for someone to be in a compromised position. Fights feel meaningless when half the time it ends with the person that was losing simply running away.

Fortunately this is no longer a problem on TC, but I was more than happy to stand next to the gate and spam the solution of guesting on another server to the people that came by. If you got whisper spam in the Norn starting area on TC that was me

100% awesome game. Also 100% different from GW2. It’s not even close. Try it but don’t expect the same sort of thing. I really liked the game play actually. Half MMO half RTS. Was a lot of fun. Roll a necro. Everyone complaining was a melee class :P

Ok… this is just not true. I see people RPing all the time in Rata Sum. I see tons of political discussions about in game stuff. Plus you can just friend people that you like playing and they’ll show up on the same megaserver. From my personal experience RPers are always a minority and so you have to do a little hunting to find em. But they’re still there.

Thought this was funny too. I seem to be grinding an awful lot on my way to 80 (same events over and over)

Ok, one more time, in hyper detail.

It all started way back when, when my buddy played gw1, he quit and it was whatever. Years later GW2 comes out and he say “hey, that looks cool.” He buys it and tries to link it to his email, only to find out that he cannot make a new account with the same email since he already has it linked to GW1. He cannot log into his existing account since it’s been years and he no longer remembers the password. (He’s one of these computer types that likes random strings of letters and numbers) In order to reset his password he has to have the name of a character on his account. He doesn’t have this either since it’s been years. He has NO information from his GW1 account. Support tells him that without that info they can’t help him. So he said kitten it and decide to just create a new email for it and let that be it. He stops playing after a month or two. Now, being a total kitten he’s lost his second email. He’s come back and would like to start playing again.

Since I started this thread he said “Kitten it, I’ll just get it again for $10” only to run into the same problem of being unable to link it to his original and “sole” email. He has since gone into a blind rage, begun frothing at the mouth, yelling, and from what I can tell has resigned to a sulky shower.

He refuses to just create a new email for the new code saying that the same thing will inevitably happen. He has also contacted support. It’s kind of a bummer since because of his personal hangups and Anet poor infrastructure we can’t play, but at this point I no longer care and I’m just keeping you appraise since it’s turned kinda funny.

Maybe I wasn’t clear. What i want to know, is having the product key/receipt enough to actually get anything done. He’s already been through support and all they did was ask him questions that he didn’t have answers to. He doesn’t want to go through that again. He’ll go through support if they’re actually going to solve the problem.

My buddy is having problems recovering his account from a long time ago. He has the product key and the receipt but no character name. It was linked to some BS email account because he had problems connecting it with his regular email. It’s 100% his account, not phishing. He’s tried contacting support in the past and it was a massive headache and he doesn’t want to do it again if it’s just going to go nowhere. Really just want to if it’s even worth bothering trying to go through this crap again. Obviously this isn’t about my account and I can’t do anything about it personally. Just want to know if he’s totally kittened.

All about the necros. Idk why you say they’re broken. They’re cool and I like that there’s always a second ability adding utility to your pets.

Sure I could buy it again for another 250 gems but that would suck… I’ve pretty much given up hope. Oh well, lesson learned.

I personally like engineer. I know the ranged bits don’t sound like that much fun but they’re crazy versatile. But yea thief obviously matches that description best. But hell just keep rolling new ones (make sure you lvl them enough to get a good variety of skills) until you latch onto one.

This is awesome. Should set up a dungeon event since that’s the thing I see people getting mad at noobs most for. Idk maybe something like Saturday is noob dungeon night or something?

I deleted some of my lowby toons recently, and forgot to clean out one of their bags. It had the Sonic Tunneler in it. This was incredibly stupid and I 100% blame my own laziness/stupidity. Would it even be worth contacting support to see about getting it back? I know some games do that kind of thing. Would really suck since I paid real world moneys for it : /

The angle for the animations is annoying. Would love to see this changed so it doesn’t point backwards. I’m assuming you try to keep it from clipping into the ground, but i find it kind annoying. 30 degrees will do.

The angle of the staves is kind of annoying since I’m a necro. Rotate it by 30 degrees and the scythe animation and it’ll be fine. It faces backwards… I guess you’re trying to keep it from clipping into the ground, but I find it a little annoying. (keyword “little”)

I personally like a lot of the minions (not as much as gw1) but the flesh golem is unforgivable! Would have been fine if they had stuck more to the concept art, but nooo…

GW2 is not GW1.

You want only 20 levels, play GW1 instead. For my experiences in this game, good and bad taken into account, I think I’d rather have GW1 but with GW2’s graphics.

Nope I’m not interested in being a birdy either. In fact I can’t think of any race beyond what we have that I would care to play. I would much prefer anet not adding another race because to me it would be a huge waste of resources.

I want a class… and if they really wanted more customization for the races we have, but yea a new race is a waste.

I see a lot of outfits and individual pieces of armor, instead of full sets. Is this the new model that we should be expecting from now on? I like the outfits personally but other people don’t, and I can understand the desire to mix and match individual pieces. Just wondering if anyone had any more info than me.

Outfits are awesome for leveling, simple as that. They make it so you don’t have to look like a cobbled together clown every 5 levels. There’s still plenty of armor in the game for you who want to mix and match. Just because they don’t offer EXACTLY what you want doesn’t mean that it’s some terrible travesty. The entire system with transmutation stones kinda sucks. This is an alternative that I for one greatly appreciate. I’ll still transmute my max level gear to get exactly what i want but for leveling outfits can’t be beat.

I for one just found out about this last week when I came back. This is totally awesome. Can’t wait til Saturday! I find it extremely unlikely that it won’t be big news, even if it’s not an x-pac. Love you Arenanet!

Give me a new class! That’s all I want. I’m fine with the living story stuff for content. New dungeon would be awesome too, but again all i really want is a new class. (Ritualist/dervish would be awesome)

Seems to be in keeping with their style though. Being buy to play means they need more stuff for us to buy, and i’m more than happy to oblige

I’m probably gonna be alone in this but this is a terrible idea. The female armor is skimpy alot of the time and people don’t want that. Asura and Charr are the only real options atm for people that want to look awesome despite their gender. My kid cousin would be so sad if her Charr bamf had to wear the same skimpy silly outfits as everyone else.

I get the living story and it’s awesome, but is there any plan for an actual expansion? GW1 was awesome about this, adding tons of new classes and stuff. I know it’s a little early for this kind of talk but I really, really want to bring a ritualist or dervish class. (They were my favorite)

Played GW1 and loved it. Totally different in GW2 but w/e, still cool.
