Suggestion: How to subdue camping at OS

Better idea: add one of those stealth fountains to the starting platform where you zone in at. This can at least help players get past kittens that like to camp the entrance, or just help them avoid combat if they don’t want any altercations period.

Apparently Anvil Rocks sucks at WvW so much that the only way they can get anything done is to camp the entrance to Obsidian Sanctum and gang up on anyone that sets foot in there.

Just kind of a forewarning to everyone else; if you plan on going there either to complete the jump puzzle or to get the Aetherblade cache, bring friends or have some way of stealthing past them. They will not hesitate to gank you no matter what your reasons for being there.

Aether dungeon needs radical nerfing

I think the dungeon as a whole, as well as the responses to it in this thread, exemplifies everything myself and numerous others have been saying about how dungeon groups where you blindly run through everything as fast as possible does nothing but create more stupid people.

I mean, I’ve yet to find a group that can manage enough brain cells to figure out how to AVOID the electric walls on Frizz. And that’s the first actual kitten boss encounter.

Ideas For Necro Fixes

PolishSausage.1279

Since ANet seems to refuse to address the issue of the Warrior/Mesmer/Guardian trinity for whatever reason and nerf them to more respectable levels, it stands that the only way to really achieve some semblance of class balance in PvE is to buff everyone else. So, I went to thinking and wrote up some Necro skills that could use some improvement. In some cases, a LOT of improvement.

I don’t really know how much the development team even looks at this section of the forum anymore, and I’ve about lost all hope of the GW2 community itself actually doing anything constructive about it instead of being lazy and adding to the problem, but if the team can at least read this instead of flagging my posts as inappropriate whenever I dispense some truth in other threads, maybe we can start getting PvE back where it needs to be.

Weapon Skills

Axe: An overall damage increase for skills is probably what this weapon needs the most. Not that much, but just enough so that all those stacks of vulnerability you’re putting on really do make a difference. Since this is supposed to be the powerhouse weapon in a Necro’s repertoire, it should at least feel like one.

Scepter: Feast of Corruption is incredibly weak for what’s advertised. The damage done scales very little, even when the target is completely loaded with conditions. Since this is supposed to be the primary damage skill for the weapon outside of DoTs, this doesn’t really make sense. Maybe amp up the damage bonus to somewhere between 10-15% per condition on the target, so that having a lot of conditions on can actually make this a true damage skill.

Dagger: Life Siphon has the benefit of healing the user, as well as damaging the target, but the healing factor is fairly weak. The wiki says that this skill only borrows 5% of healing power, which isn’t really that much considering that the damage it does is also pretty low. Bumping the healing factor to something like 10% of healing power can make it a better survivability tool.

Spear: Dark Spear is probably the worst underwater skill ever, as not only is the range extremely limited, it also prevents the user from taking any action when the attack actually connects, leaving them more vulnerable to attack than if they had used Deadly Catch instead. Sure, you can use the disabled period to trigger Reaper’s Protection, but that just defeats the purpose, as you’re only pushing your target away from you again instead of keeping them in close, which is where this weapon is designed to excel at. Remove the disabled period when using the attack, increase the range, do something. Just make it actually worth using.

Slot Skills

Bone Fiend: Is it just me, or does this minion’s special ability just flat out not work? Because that’s the one reason as to why I never use the Bone Fiend, even in a PvP situation. I don’t want to do a full write up of why this thing should be working as advertised without knowing why it doesn’t work, so if someone can explain this to me that’d be great.

Signet of Spite: The recent buff to the damage bonus is a nice start, but it still doesn’t give us a reason to actually use it for its active effect. Sure you plant almost every condition in the book on the target, but most of them either aren’t potent enough to be worth it or just get resisted by PvE mobs that are immune to certain conditions. Only one stack of bleed? One stack of vulnerability? If I’m going to be losing out on that extra attack power when using this, I want it to actually mean something. Up the bleed stacks, up the vulnerability stacks, make the other conditions last longer except blind. Hell, maybe even give the user boons that are the equivalent to the conditions applied. Either of those scenarios would be better options that the useless signet we have now.

Spectral Wall: Compared to other wall skills, this one really pales in comparison in actual application. 10 stacks of vulnerability is good, but the protection equivalent is too short a duration, a paltry five seconds. Make it last ten seconds as well at the very least, and maybe I’ll consider throwing one down in WvW when I’m running with a roamer group or a zerg.

Death Curse: WHY WOULD YOU POISON YOURSELF WHEN YOU’RE ALREADY DROWNING WHAT THE FLYING kitten WERE YOU THINKING ANET!?

Lich Form: The main problem with Lich Form is that it has no access to any form of healing when in use, and considering that the skills you trade that for aren’t exactly designed for survivability, as well as the fact that your overall mobility is shot when in this form, and you’re also a huge target during use… you kind of get the picture. But, obviously you can’t just straight up give a healing skill to something designed to melt faces. Maybe add a healing component to Deathly Claws that gives back health based on damage dealt (to a cap of course). At least this way a Necro using this skill won’t have to worry about getting blown up as much when triggering it.

Why everyone wants to run instead of kill

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: PolishSausage.1279

PolishSausage.1279

The reason why so many people are coming out against skipping mobs these days is because of the increasing number of stupid people that think they can apply that logic to every other dungeon situation. Then when they run into an encounter that actually requires some semblance of brain activity, like Fractals for example, they fail miserably and take the rest of the group down with them.

Skipping simply breeds incompetence, since it doesn’t teach players anything about game mechanics, or even reminds people of basic MMORPG tactics. Hell, I don’t even think anyone on this game but a skant few people even know how to AoE large groups of weaker mobs anymore, how Line of Sight works, or hell, even the fact that they have a kitten dodge button for a reason. You wouldn’t believe the number of parties I run into that keep failing on the first Grawl Shaman encounter in Fractals because I was the only one in the group that actually knew how crowd control works.

If you have already done the dungeons normally numerous times and just want to get through it, fine, do whatever, but for people that haven’t, teaching them to skip everything just shows them how to be lazy and idiotic.

Actually most of the time the skip goes fine and it cuts down on lots of wasted time and effort clearing garbage mobs that don’t reward anything worthwhile. There, I resoundingly defeated your argument.

Except clearing the trash mobs also gives you more chances at loot, including salvage fodder, some chances at higher tier crafting mats, loot bags that have additional dungeon tokens, and maybe even an occasional rare or exotic.

I just killed your argument and threw the corpse in a ditch.

The problem with skipping on a regular basis, you get so used to just blindly running past everything and end up forgetting how to do basic encounters should the need to fight arise. That’s how most wipes end up occurring, since most people are so insistent on skipping as much as they can, or were just taught that way from the very beginning, that they don’t even know how to fight anything at all, much less why they skip in the first place.

The playerbase in general is just lazy as hell and determined to find the path that takes the least amount of work, even when the original path isn’t even that bad to begin with.

Doesn’t sound out of the question. You can use the weapons obtained with badges of honor as Mystic Forge fodder as well, so makes sense that the ones you get using dungeons tokens would follow the same formula. Would just likely require a LOT of grinding because of the random factor in the recipe.

Although, if the guy is just shooting for any precursor in particular, he should be forging the off hand weapons instead, since they’re cheaper to purchase.

You guys do realize that CC is normally weaker against bosses in every single MMORPG to date, right? Because where’s the challenge if you can completely stunlock a boss fight?

Crowd control generally is designed for two situations: the first is quite obviously PvP. I don’t think I need to explain this one since I certainly hope people here aren’t THAT ignorant about basic MMO mechanics, and since this thread is primarily about PvE anyway.

The second situation, the one relevant to this thread, is encountering special mobs that need to CCed for a specific purpose, such as kiting, preventing them from doing dangerous attacks, or just to keep them out of the fray while you burn down the primary target. For example, during the Molten Facility dungeon, you could normally try to CC some mobs away while you focus fire on the shielder or the rifle jerk. Even so, some bosses are more susceptible to some CC effects than you think. Lupicus can still be crippled during phase three to give teammates some breathing room (unless they fixed that recently, can’t remember if they did), and chill also still works on numerous bosses. When dealing with trash, sometimes an AoE fear can help create space, or a quick blind to help players dodge a crucial strike.

The overall problem isn’t crowd control being weak. The real problem is that the majority of the playerbase is too lazy to put the extra effort into learning how to properly apply CC and prefers to just try to faceroll everything with little to no effort. While both methods work and have their place, the latter is easier for most people because it requires less active brain cells for a GSWD Warrior to kitten his way through a dungeon and pretend he actually knows what he’s doing.

Meanwhile I was running a mace/shield warrior in Molten Facility, stunning the crap out of dangerous trash mobs and keeping them in place, using the shield to bounce back flame projectiles, and blocking attacks from the bosses to stay alive longer. I actually found it to be more enjoyable, and I normally hate playing defensive roles.

The reason they keep doing the RNG dance is because they know people are crazy enough over a bunch of cosmetics to fall for it. Just look at the people in this thread who blew money just to get a shot at them. The only people that are actually vocal about hating it are the ones that gambled their gold/gems away and got kitten that they got nothing for their efforts.

ANet isn’t dumb. They know how to work the market so that they can be able to make a profit. That profit then goes into continued development of the game, meaning more events for everyone else to take part in. Simply put, it’s a necessary evil if the developers want to keep the game functioning. Anyone that complains about the whole process obviously does not know how subscription free MMOs work.

If you don’t want to go through the hassle and risk, simply don’t take part, or if you do, don’t blow all your funds at once just for a chance to get a stupid looking skin for your greatsword. Nothing is being forced onto you. The sooner people on here stop being stupid and realize this, the sooner I can stop sounding like a broken record trying to explain it.

I swear, this whole thing is worse than when TF2 introduced hats.

Poll: Dredge Fractal

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: PolishSausage.1279

PolishSausage.1279

The problem with dredge fractal is that there’s way too many dredge and way too few groups that actually know how to practice common sense instead of just trying to blindly barrel through everything like they do in dungeons. That’s not to say that the fractal itself doesn’t have any problems, as even with the required amount of coordination it’s kind of a hassle to run through.

For example, the respawning dredge that come up in a couple sections have way too much health considering the fact that they’re supposed to be mass killed. This is also a player problem because no one seems to know how to do AoEs; again, stupid people trying to barrel through everything blindly. If they could at least lower the health of the dredge that respawn to make them a bit easier to take care of, it would at least make killing them a less monotonous task, and would make the bomb part less tasking and not require people to die in order to progress. Of course, you’d still have to remind people to use their kitten AoEs, but, again, that’s a human thing and not a gameplay thing.

To answer the OP question, though, I say I’m neutral about it. The only fractal I really hate is swamp, simply because it’s a good indicator of which people in your group are mentally challenged.

Traps+Get More Out of WvW

Posted by: PolishSausage.1279

PolishSausage.1279

Well traps just seem like a terrible idea to begin with, why are we getting more things in WvW that allow the player to be lazy and let an inanimate object do the work for them?

You’re talking about a game mode where one person can just join up with a large group of a hundred others and just leech off what they accomplish for an hour or two. Please stop talking.

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Why don’t they just make two versions of the Explorable mode?

A level 80 heroic version locked to level 80’s and a 35 version that is easier and didn’t make those changes that you all are talking about.

Because then it would be another WoW clone. And the thing that makes GW2 so appealing is because it actually avoids most of the things WoW clones shoot for.

And if you think the behavior on here is bad, you should see how stupid people can be in games like WoW and FFXI. Either way, the simplest solution is always the same; do dungeon runs with friends or guildies if you can. You can also report people that act especially jerkish and hope they get slapped by a GM.

Plague of Skippers

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

PolishSausage.1279

So, I just made an Arah Path 2 group with a focus on actually killing stuff instead of just blindly running through everything, and because I was getting tired of elitist jerks running their mouths all the time.

Basically, we actually took our time, pulled mobs carefully, LoSed the deadeyes, AoEd the grubs after baiting the kamikazes to explode, etc etc. the only quick route we used was the ship shortcut, which was only because none of us actually knew the path to the final boss because the boat route was all anyone ever did. Not only did we get a lot of loot from the mobs we killed, I even got a couple rares, and we all actually had a good time. Even Lupi ended up being semi manageable. This is compared to pretty much every other group I get into that just tries to barrel through everything as fast as possible, which generally ends up being a frustrating mess because at least one or more person are being massive kitten, or someone else keeps getting killed on one of the runs because the group didn’t bother killing any of the mobs en route. Sure it took a bit longer, but the actual time spent wasn’t really that much different from groups I normally have, only without the frustration and questioning of humanity.

Moral of the story: actually doing the content is more satisfying and less of a pain than blindly running through everything like a pack of kittenes and hoping for the best.

Plague of Skippers

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: PolishSausage.1279

PolishSausage.1279

What blows my mind about skippers is that they skip mobs that are actually MORE difficult to skip than just to kill normally. For example, the Deadeyes in Arah can be easily killed by pulling one and then Line-of-Sighting them to get them in close. One less mob to worry about for the trek, and no one risks getting one-shotted and slowing the run down, and less crap to run back through in the event of a wipe. And yet hardly anyone does this simple task that shouldn’t take longer than 15 seconds to do with a competent group.

It’s no wonder every party has to have a Mesmer in it for mass invis, since people have just gotten so lazy they don’t even know basic MMORPG dungeon tactics, and instead just try to marathon run everything without even thinking.

Dredge and Cliffside #1 unbalanced

The problem with the Dredge fractal is that there’s so many kittening dredge, and very few people with the mind to know how AoE works. Even with people that do have the working brain cells required for it, it’s the sheer numbers that make the trek such a long one more than anything else. Thinning some of them out can possibly help make it a faster run that’s more in line with the other fractals.

Cliffside’s only problem is people being stupid for various reasons.

I just did part 1 of Arah

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: PolishSausage.1279

PolishSausage.1279

Ran path one the other day, and there really is a reason why no one does it. There are only two WPs between the start and Lupi, which creates one hell of a trek with a lot of crap to run through if you don’t take the time to clear stuff out beforehand. Just having one extra WP somewhere in the middle of that route would make the path a lot more tolerable.

Then you have all the stuff that chills you, snares you, cripples you, and everything else, making the slightest error in making that run trying to skip things because you’re group isn’t competent enough to actually fight any of it cost you an extra silver on your repair bill. Keep in mind that not all classes have access to lolstealth to make the run easier.

When you consider that the bosses are really not that bad, other than Lupi, it’s really an unbalanced path with difficulty spikes where there shouldn’t be one. Crystal golems are pretty face-rolly, slime is annoying and doesn’t really fit, why the tar elemental is even there I have no clue, and the final boss somehow barely beats out Jade Maw for being the most boring and lame encounter in the entire game.

Hopefully this month’s patch fixes some things to actually make it more enjoyable and a decent challenge instead of just an exercise in frustration.

Some Simple Quality of Life Suggestions

in Suggestions

Posted by: PolishSausage.1279

PolishSausage.1279

Just a short list of suggestions that I really feel should be part of the game, but aren’t for whatever reason. Really, the fact that some of this stuff isn’t available is kind of mind-boggling. Anyway, here goes:

1) Blocking a person means you can’t talk to them either.

This one seems obvious, but it’s still not the case for some reason. Every time I leave a bad group, I get verbally abused by the idiot(s) that were the cause of it and can’t even tell them to go eff themselves because they block me before I can even do so. I seriously had a terrible Thief berating me for half an hour trying to convince me that he wasn’t terrible without the ability to respond back to him, and the only reason I didn’t block him myself was because it was just hilarious how desperate he was. Blocking someone should not only keep them from talking to you, but you from talking to them as well. As it is right now, blocking is just abused by stupid people that can’t be admit they screwed up and have to have a one-sided conversation to try to boost their own ego.

2) Removing “host” position in dungeons.

Ever had to remove someone that was causing the group troubles but only realizing that doing so resets your entire progress in a dungeon? Yeah, that happens. And it’s kind of dumb that it does. Quite frankly, I don’t even know why this is a thing in the first place. Removing the “host” position in a dungeon can allow people to remove troublemakers without risk of starting themselves over from the beginning.

3) Guild Bounty Training Marking

After trying a guild bounty training mission the other day, I first wondered if I had even activated it properly, as there was no notice that it was active. Took me five minutes to realize that it was indeed working after I found the mission shoved all the way to the bottom of the mission tab. To make matters worse, I couldn’t even tell where the target was, since there was no indication of it on the map, and only a vague description on where I could find them. Considering that you also have to take the target down in 15 minutes, it just makes it kind of frustrating.

So, this is a two part suggestion: Make it more noticeable when a bounty training mission is started, and have some kind of marker that tells you where a target is, since it’s, you know, a training mission.

4) Increase the number of votes required to kick someone.

Another obvious one. If you’ve seen the threads that come up in the Dungeon forum about people getting grief kicked by guilds in the same group, you should know that this is a problem. Two votes to remove someone is way too lenient, too easy to abuse, and doesn’t even qualify as a majority. Three votes should be necessary to remove someone, and while it won’t likely remove grief kicking completely, it can at least mitigate it somewhat.

That’s essentially it. Please implement these fixes as soon as you can, cause, they really just seem like common sense fixes that should have been in place already.

It’s probably because finding them can be a pain in the kitten because of the darkness in the area, and you’re likely to have someone run off on their own and get themselves lost in the process. For the most part, though, people just want to get through it quickly.

You can always farm the jellyfish mobs in Ocean before you fight Maw if you want to take a shot at drops, since they’re relatively easy to fight, but that’s assuming the rest of the group will follow through with the idea.

So, I’ve ran a few fractals, majority of them with PUGs, and I’d like to say I’ve seen some pretty silly stuff go down. Granted GW2 PUGs are still more favorable than in other games, but you’d be surprised the kinds of things that happen for various reasons. Fractals Dungeon Kick

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: PolishSausage.1279

PolishSausage.1279

1) Is this something Arena Net will do something about? This wasn’t as simple as a kick by a guild, it was some back and forth talk which resulted in the kick. Though that talk was trying to get help from these guys.

2) What is your take on grouping and giving advice/telling people what to do? If I see people struggling, or we are not completing a part, i will often tell people how it is done. lately I’m finding people are getting defensive, or like the example above, they will kick you.

Should I just sit back and not say anything in groups, or should I have seen early on that this was not a group I should have been in?

3) Am I just a jerk and need calm down?

1) If you’re referring to grief kicks, the best thing you can do is take a screenshot if you see more than one person in the same guild and then report them if they do something like that. Chances are ANet only takes action if they receive a significant number of reports to take notice.

2) If someone is legitimately asking for advice on something when doing low level fractals, or if you’re trying to suggest something to make sure things run a bit smoother, then there’s nothing wrong with that. More often than not, though, you’re going to run into people that think they’re hot kitten and will just do whatever they want. That’s usually when they end up face first in the dirt.

At this point in the game I usually just take enjoyment out of watching people make stupid mistakes and then complain about what happened like the brats they are. It sometimes gets especially amusing on the Harpy fractal and you’re watching them get knocked off repeatedly. Even had one person complaining about jump puzzles in general in the game. Probably someone who played too much WoW.

3) If anything, you seemed to have been the only non-idiotic person in that group. I would of told them all to go eff themselves and bailed a lot sooner.

On the other hand, ascended gear like Solaria and Lunaria I feel are pretty good, since they contribute to all of your stats and give magic find as well. And if you’re like me and run multiple armor sets for your different specs, it’d just be too much of a hassle getting separate ascended gear for each of those sets anyway.

Also, you get your reward for exploring, the achievements. Is there a Title? I’m not sure

You get a title reward for completing 15 of the SAB achievements I believe.

Considering that the skins don’t do anything to effect regular play (which is the entire kittening point of skins), I don’t see why this is a concern. If someone wants to waste that much time trying to get a cosmetic skin as fast as possible, let them. Not like they’re getting anything else, and you don’t get gold or karma inside the SAB anyway, nor do you get daily/monthly achievement credit.

Let the speedrunners waste their own time trying to make serious business out of a fun diversion, while the rest of us have fun.

My feedback on stealth WvW

How do you make it less effective for escaping? Make it so revealed kicks in no matter what. This would make permastealth impossible because the thief will have to wait 3 seconds no matter what.
Another option is to shorten stealth which would make permastealth much harder to maintain.

Another thing to consider is the possibility of adding diminishing returns to stealth duration when spamming stealth moves. In this case, the actual stealth duration would be shorter and shorter with each use until the Thief essentially cannot stealth at all. In theory, this could not only discourage permastealthing, but make Thieves commit to a fight more, and save stealth either for attack setups, or as an actual emergency tool as it was intended, instead of just a spammable reset button.

Stealth and culling are both part of the same problem: they hamper the ability of people to find enemies when they’re right in front of their faces. The way things are right now, Thieves deliberately abuse the culling weakness in order to spam stealth moves and get easy back attack damage, or to make a getaway at the slightest hint of danger. It’s pretty much impossible to take them on in a 1v1 situation unless there is a really major gear/skill difference.

Culling is a part of the problem, yes, but to say stealth as it is right now is not also a problem is just admitting one’s own ignorance. Until culling gets figured out, I vote for either longer cooldowns on stealth skills, or a longer debuff period where players cannot re-stealth.

Reworking Norn Elites

in Suggestions

Posted by: PolishSausage.1279

PolishSausage.1279

This has been a topic of discussion over on the Norn forum, and the general consensus seems to be that, while everyone knows that racials are meant to be weaker than class skills, the Norn elite skills are just not fun to use. I mean, we have four elite skills, the most out of any other race, and only Snow Leopard is really of any use, only because it has stealth. And even then, it’s a situational use at best.

So, many Norn players would like to see Norn elites get a bit of a makeover, not really to make them strong or anything, but just so that they can be fun to use, and at the very least fill some kind of role in a player’s repertoire should they decide to use them. So, I thought I’d put together a list of ways that they can be improved upon:

1) More unique attacks. All forms essentially share the same attacks and the same animations, with the only difference being the effects that they have. These should be more unique for the form in use, to give the feeling of “Holy crap! I’m a kittening bear!”

For example, it would be good for Raven if Swoop was an actual flight skill that evaded attacks, as well as dealing damage, keeping them stationary instead of being a lunge (similar to how regular bird mobs behave). Wolf’s Leap should be more like a dash instead of an awkward jump, portraying the speed and ferocity of an actual wolf. You know, things that make each form more unique in some sense.

2) Remove rooting on some form skills. Each form is essentially required to be stationary for every attack, which makes things difficult in fights where mobility is necessary. Yeah, skills like Bear’s Maul and Wolf’s Blood Frenzy should still require the player to be stationary, but at least allow players to use Snow Leopard’s Growl or Raven’s Shriek while on the move. It’s a simple fix, but one that can make the forms more enjoyable to use.

3) Cutting cooldowns on tier one elites. As it is right now, all Norn elites share the same cooldown of 240 seconds. Which kind of defeats the purpose for most of them. For the tier one elites at least, the cooldowns should be bumped down to 180, putting them more in line with other tier one racials. Snow Leopard can keep it’s current 240 cooldown, since it has the advantage of stealth.

4) Dialogue. An aesthetic thing to consider, since the character doesn’t say anything when using a form. Something like “Protect me Bear!” or something cheesy like that to give an extra uumph to it.

Hope you guys would consider at least one of these things, as a lot people would really like Norn racials to be more fun.

The Norn Elite Skills... Seriously?

I use Wolf form in my Vampiric set on my Necro for the life steal in PvE, but that’s about it. Being able to buff party members with fury and regen helps. Problem is, I’m not even certain if skill traits persist when in a transformed state.

I think all the Norn elites just need to be reworked, so that they have more unique animations and attacks and can be actually fun to use. I mean, all of them pretty much recycle the same attacks, but with different effects. It kind of makes it seem like they were added in at the last minute. Snow Leopard at least has stealth to make it stand out, which actually makes sense for the form.

Yeah, you can make an argument that they’re supposed to be like that, but Norn Elites aren’t even that fun to use. They’re just…… dull. I mean, Charr have elites that can summon a kitten bazooka or their war band. That kind of trumps everything a Norn has available.

Maybe I’ll try to right out some ideas and post it over in the Suggestions forum later.

With the changes to server transfers, we hope that people are finding a nice comfy home on lovely Stormbluff Isle. With that said, what’s a home without some good people to share it with? That’s where Liquor Bar Drunkards comes in to play.

Currently our guild is small in numbers, but we hope that with your help, we can grow to become a great community. We plan to host some fun events in the future, and we currently run Liquor of the Month, where we showcase a particularly special brand of booze. I like how the obvious Thief people say that Thieves can be hit out of stealth, when in reality they are able to move fast enough in stealth to get away from where the AoEs are going off at, which when combined with moves that remove conditions, makes them nearly impossible to knock out of stealth unless you have people covering a very wide range of terrain.

Just increase the timer debuff where a Thief can’t restealth, and force him to actually commit to a fight instead of getting cheap shots and running away all the time. It makes it impossible to do 1v1 encounters with them, and it’s especially hard for even decent sized groups to take down one of them. If they get a backstab off, fine, reward them for that, but having an option to chain stealth backstabs repeatedly and then stealth again to run away is just dumb.

I just want to point out how hilariously ignorant the people saying Thieves are fine sound. They’re probably the ones that spam the near perma-stealth bull and take cheap shots on people, then run like scared children at the slightest hint of any real danger.

Fact of the matter is, stealth needs to be nerfed so that they actually have to COMMIT to a fight, instead of having an easy escape tool that they can spam whenever. Just increase the time period that they can’t stealth to a more reasonable frame. I mean, one of my friends plays a Thief, and even he agrees that they’re a broken class simply because they have a spammable Get Out of Jail Free card. It should not take five people just to make sure one Thief doesn’t get away.

In before kitten Thieves try to deride everything I just said.

Stealth definitely needs to be fixed up so that it’s not as easy to spam. Maybe increase the cooldowns on stealth moves, or increase the timeframe that someone cannot go back into stealth, so that a Thief actually has to commit to a fight instead of just blindly running into a group, spamming skills, then running off scot free at the slightest hint of danger. It’s already annoying as it is in WvW when a Thief can just run in, take off half of someone’s health in less than a second, stealth away, then repeat as many times as needed. Takes three or four people just to be able to track down one Thief as it is.

It’s not fun to fight against, and it’s sure as hell not fair for everyone else.
