The daily is a walk in the park. If you have trouble finding events just quickly join the Orr zerg. Since you are fresh to 80, in addition to the huge chunks of karma you get from the daily, you’ll be spending a lot of time in orr farming karma from the zerg. Alternatively you can run dungeons which also give karma.

Wait… I’m really confused by this because when I play this game, the only time I actually have to turn the camera is if an enemy runs directing behind me and I’ll be using left mouse click to do this. Camera is set to auto centre and stays that way when you strafe.

Never has there been a moment where I’ve held down right click in combat. :/

Before the change, human and norn females had the same run animation for the GS with the sword being dragged. I had a feeling this was never intended for the norn and was only a filler until what we got now, which is the sword lifted higher and more to the side. She also seems to have more hip movement than the previous one.

I’ve encountered this once where I ran into a risen camp, atleast 4 of them had knockdown. Right after my stability wore off, I was knocked down and stayed knocked down because the risen were reapplying it while I was still lying on the floor in seemingly perfect timing. It lasted for maybe 6 seconds and I barely managed to kill them after coming dangerously close to dying. I’m a Norn guardian so some other classes wouldn’t of lived during that 6 seconds of awkwardness where my character looked like she was being held down by her arms and legs by a pack of risen. Was definitely not a comfortable experience and I never attacked a camp full of risen again unless I really had to.

To be honest I’m not sure what to think. It’s really sad that you guys lost all that hard work and I’m really sorry. But at the same time I don’t really see what was so urgent in moving servers so quickly. At the moment, the insta-transfers causes server populations to flux up and down despite some servers staying heavily populated, I would only be a matter of time when your server would be pitted against other servers with less WvsW presence.

I’d say soldier on, and continue to play if you still enjoy the game.

The Female Human epidemic

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Polle.6908

It is probably better to conclude that all the reasonings mentioned in the thread could/would influence someone in picking a certain sex. I rolled a female Norn on the lines that she looked respectable and not too sexual and any way. In the past I have rolled a male character on the bases that they just looked cooler in armour and chances of being hassled by other players may be lower.

Either way, it shouldn’t matter what race/sex/size/ someone picks as long as they are happy with what they’ve got. This is a fantasy mmo game. Some people prefer to roll something more relatable like a human while some prefer not to. It comes down to taste and what they want their character to be. None of us can take that away.

@ Kita

GreatSword

- I agree. An indication of the time left on bind would be beneficial to everyone.
- Imo Whirling Wrath is fine as it is and having damage based on distance forces the player to use it wisely.
- There are already traits to improve the size of all symbols. The upgrade is enormous as it is.
- Leap Of Faith is working a lot better than it used to. I’m now seeing a success rate of 80-90%. Anet have seem to stretched the range of it substantially.

Staff

- I’d personally like to see Orb of light tweaked so it feels less awkward to use. The damage is passable but at the moment, only serves as a filler between empower and switching between my GS or Hammer.

- Empower like all other abilities will go full cooldown is interrupted. This is fair play imo and no changes are really needed. Knockdowns can be countered by having stability which the guardian is no short of.

Sword

Zealot’s defence also reflects projectiles in addition to the damage. The skill already auto targets if you are facing the wrong way. Indeed it is difficult to pull off the full attack on someone who is mobile but that seems to be a common trend with GS and Swords. Highest damage output but difficult to pull off, which is fair I guess.

I wonder if people realise that they wouldn’t have to contend with crowd control if they didn’t run through groups of enemies in the first place? It’s not rocket science and it’s the price people need to be prepared to pay for trying to rush through content.

Normally I’d agree with this especially level 70’s and fresh 80’s trying to run through Orr attempting to join zergs but there are certain mechanics like respawn times that are too fast in some areas like POI and skill points where a single pull would bring a whole horde down. I love a challenge but probably wasn’t what I was expecting. I still managed to solo alot of the content in Orr despite these frustrations.

Hopefully we see a new level 80 zone where the sun still shines and hasn’t been decimated by risen. I did enjoy sneaking around taking skill points while trying to avoid the champion risen who stalks around it and running for my life afterwards but man I hate them so much.

How much are you hitting for with a hammer?

in Guardian

Posted by: Polle.6908

Polle.6908

It is normal to see lower crits with a guardian as the class isn’t built around huge numbers but dps stability. My auto attacks crit for around 1.5-1.8k and my Mightly Blow crits for around 3.5-4k. High stacks of might, I have pulled off 7k crits. I’m currently running Soldier gear with berserker jewels and weapons. People tend to overlook the damage done by the symbol which ticks for quite high.

So, What our weapons need.

in Guardian

Posted by: Polle.6908

Polle.6908

Hammer: Symbol of Protection should be the second skill, not the first, and last 4s like every other symbol. Switch it with Mighty Blow, which needs to come out slightly faster and not be a leap, but rather just a regular attack. Also give it some kind of secondary effect, I don’t really care what. Right now Hammer is the worst guardian weapon just because there’s nothing to do but just afk while you auto-attack for pitiful damage.

That’s in PvP. In PvE the hammer is amazingly bad for many reasons which I have already stated, so I don’t see the need to repeat myself again.

You do realise the Hammer can actually do almost just as much damage as a GS right? The difference between the 2 is that since the GS is cooldown based, it allows the player to dump everything he has within a few seconds, potentially ending a fight prematurely compared to other weapons. The Hammer lacks the initial burst but over long fights like veterans and champions, the damage of the hammer in some cases will surpass the GS since it doesn’t rely on cooldowns. Mighty Blow also has a huge radius and will guarantee a hit on nearby enemies on a regular basis where as the damage of Whirling Wrath depends on the cooldowns of your symbol and chains.

mace damage is reactive and is more of a personal defence weapon. Sword damage is good but lacks a symbol and AoE damage. Personally I think you’re talking rubbish if you think the Hammer is the worst pve weapon because the protection symbol it gives is widely used in dungeons and bosses.

Orb of Light, how does this thing work?

in Guardian

Posted by: Polle.6908

Polle.6908

It usually helps if you have an enemy target near your allies to prevent the orb from going straight into the ground. Once the orb touches a hard surface like a wall, you won’t be able to detonate it so you have to be quick if you plan on doing a close heal. I do think though this was design intentionally to prevent targeted healing which is against the GW2 design.

Crusade for Cripple

in Guardian

Posted by: Polle.6908

Polle.6908

Again for the 12th time, its not about closing the gap, guardians can do this. Its about keeping someone from running. Any profession can easily cripple us and run away, nothing we can do about it because we have no counter cripple.

Bolded that part for importance. If that is your reason then it is a skill issue.

Cripples count as conditions. Guardians have up to 3 passive condition removals. A trait that removes conditions when using shouts. One consecrate that removes conditions. 2 meditations that removes conditions. One of them turns the condition into a buff resulting in a speed bonus. 2 Shouts also grant a speed bonus that is more than enough. Enemies cannot have 80% cripple time on you. Once you’ve removed the cripple change weapons, use a speed boon. There is so much to do than just sit there and feel sorry for yourself.

If you are still having problems with enemies running away then you should probably look at your traits and weapon setup. The Mace/shield isn’t going to grant you this. Carry a sword/GS/Hammer or Scepter with you at all times. I cannot believe this has gone this far.

SKud just explained to you the plethora of cripples necros have at their disposal.
What also bothered me was “show me that necro MELEE cripple” as in you wanted to see a necro cripple on a specific weapon set. Guess what though, Guardians don’t have a SINGLE CRIPPLE period. Not on any weapon, any utility. We do get a 45 second cooldown 2second duration chill, on crit, on ONE WEAPON, through traits. If you consider that anything..

But some of us are forgetting that necros have those cripples for a reason. They may have lots of hit points but they are also one of the squishiest of all the class. Balance is the keyword and I do not see for a second why guardians need a constant source of cripple. The amount of boons and condition removals goes inline with the necros conditions and cripples.

Sorry but Zealots Embrace is anything but effective. A slow traveling immobilize that has a success rate of 50%? And you realize the 2 seconds of immobilize is OVER if you are not already on top of them, and now you are stuck standing still casting RoW. Isn’t gonna work.

The ranged attack is only a bonus and should not be relied on. Like the symbol on the third attack you should be running into the enemy mid cast, not run up to him them then cast. It makes your attacks less prone to be dodged and the 2seconds is more than enough to pull RoW off.

I can have a discussion with you all day how to use ZE more effectively though you’re more willing to pass it off as a dead fish, which is fine by me. I’m not denying that they’re difficult to pull off at times especially against very good players but this is more of a learn to play issue than anything else. Results don’t come straight out of the box and they shouldn’t.

And before we get into an arguement about gap closers and cripples, the guardian is boon oriented so use those speed buffs to your advantage.

kiting is less an issue in GW2 as it is in other MMOs. There are plenty of options to close gaps for the guardian and speed boons/retaliation make up for the lack of cripple. Kiting 100% with ranged attacks is quite hard to pull off especially when a melee character can easily predict the direction the player is trying to strafe. Picking the right utilities and traits is important and imo I think that is enough for a class which already difficult enough to kill.

Not only is the cast time very long with a noticeable animation, but the skill is pretty much 100% useless unless you’re using JudgeIntervention. Even when standing on top of someone, if they are moving, they will get out of the ring no problem. Now consider it does absolutely no damage, and only lasts for a measly 4(?) or 5 seconds, you really think was casting it even worth it, or should I have just Mighty Blowed that guy for 4K.

100% useless without JI is a far statement to make and completely false imo. There are other methods to guarantee RoW a more solid success rate. #3 is also a good option which I hated at first but love it now.

And for the love of our children, don’t treat RoW as something you only use to trap people. You can use it to keep people out of nodes, defend downed friends and trebuches. A knock down while in the middle of fight on a node usually means death in group situations. And last time i remembered, you do not need JI for these type of situations.

Personal Story Difficulty Unacceptable

in Personal Story

Posted by: Polle.6908

Polle.6908

Some of you people are really irritating. A personal story is just that PERSONAL STORY.. You should not have to get help, you should be able to do it solo at any lvl with minimum difficulty. It is also so that you can see the story play out. I have ran into several steps in my story that was very difficult and ridiculously unrealistic. Sorry, but a army of 10 is not going to beat a army of 50+ risen and unlimited supply of giants. Taking anyone in your story should be for only 1 reason and that is just to play together, not because you could not beat it. And if they take out the unlimited rezing, then I will not do anymore of my personal story. Some of you people needs to understand what personal story means. It does not mean dungeon therefore it doesn’t need the difficulty of one. I do my story to see it play out, not to get stressed over the overwhelming odds which happens and then it’s no longer fun. So all you people stating you had no problem with your story are either lying or deluding yourself. Nobody’s avatar is a god in the game. If you did any part of the story I have done and tell me you had no problem I’ll know then you are lying.

You really need to step back and think what you just posted. The personal story was never easy to complete but i no means un-soloable. There are many variables in why some people find it easier to do than others including current gear, weapon setup, traits and utility slots. These all place a major hand in the difficulty of the quests and it is up to the individual to adapt to their situations.

I died many times in the first 20-30 odd levels. But I soldiered on and found the missions easier to deal with as I get better at the game. Maybe it is a learn to play issue, who knows but you should consider looking at your own character before making such remarks. I agree that a few areas maybe overtuned but not enough to ruin the whole story. The only part that actually requires a group was the last mission and that is one mission out of god knows how many there are.

in Guardian

Polle.6908

Like Ynna has already noted, there really isn’t a bad weapon combination unless you purposely placed your traits in areas that offer no synergy with your gear and weapon setup. I usually pull out the scepter/shield when I find myself having to solo a champion boss who hits too hard to be in melee range for more than 5 seconds. Simply kiting around it takes a while but gets the job done. You could use a focus but I prefer a shield since champions are resilient to blind and I’m more comfortable with the extra defence/protection compared to block.

The first explosion is definitely bugged. The exploded clock face would freeze half way vertical but fixes itself up in about half a second. This only started yesterday when I was attempting it. The bug itself was slightly off putting at first but easily adaptable.

The final jump into the broken clock face had me for about 4 hours. After killing a few kittens I looked it up and it appears to be a lag issue for some players. The solution is to jump right when the clock shatters. Upon doing this your character would totally miss the opening and fall but the game recognises this as a successful jump.

The most annoying one of all though was the random chompings even though my character clearly didn’t touch the goo. Worst case was making it past the leap and running up the last beam but suddenly being teleported back to the start for no reason.

RoW requires skill and timing to pull off successfully. The effects on the player who is stuck inside this without stability or escape mechanisms are devastating as all it takes for them to fall over once and the fight goes in your favour. I think having to stand still is ok for the moment as getting someone stuck inside the ring basically gives the guardian a chance to chain attack with Hammer #2 Then #4, after they bounce off the ring, #3 and even #1 again.

How do you use the shield effectively?

in Guardian

The shield is probably the most situational offhand though very powerful. I always keep one on me when running dungeons and pvp. The mace+Shield go hand in hand with each other as that combination gives 3 healing possibilities not including any runes you picked or weapon upgrades. Mace #3 also makes up for the lack of block that the shield is missing and #5 AoE knockback is extremely powerful in node defending and preventing allies from being stomped.

Greatsword vs. Hammer

I found the Hammer more appropriate for longer drawn fights while the GS is good for getting something down quick. Because the GS is cooldown based, it allows you to unload yourself at someone at once at risk of being dodged or avoided. While 3/4/5 Hammer takes skill to use and time, #2 I found more reliable in hitting targets compared to GS #2. In PvE I carry both with me while in PvP I prefer the Hammer.

Personal Story Difficulty Unacceptable

in Personal Story

Polle.6908

My experience with the personal story was quite patchy for the first 30 levels. Those ice elementals and ice dragons just fire everything at you at the same time and you basically get gibbed while the npcs get wiped out in seconds. What kept me going was the story which at that point was quite interesting. I probably died 5-6 times in the “trying to get my horn back quest”.

From levels 30 – 60 was probably the most enjoyable. Missions didn’t feel as hard, maybe because I got better at dodging nasty stuff and controlling groups of enemies. Also at this point most of my utility skills have been unlocked which play a vital part in your survival.

The last 10 levels, I grew abit tired of killing risen and the story kind of fell apart and became some what impersonal. No doubt the quests are easily solo-able and should not be a problem for seasoned gamers. I did not die once at this time.

The last mission to kill the dragon was abit disappointing. The group quest itself was ok. I found the airship sequences very annoying especially the parts where you have to man the guns to shoot down the dragons. Just giant red circles everywhere sending everyone up in the air just too frequently. I was also disappointed on the Zhaitan fight which became a 2 button job and the worms that spawn on the ship posed a bigger threat to your well being.

I love to see a continuation of the story in some way. I really want Tybalt to be alive coz I really loved the guy. If A.net did a good job on one something, it was your pact partner.
