The fact that rewards are weekly makes me think that maybe Raids won’t be as challenging as we think they will be…

The fact that is Weekly makes me think Anet already knows Raids will only be challenging to the casual crowd that farms Silverwastes or Open World Bosses. That’s the big piece of the playerbase’s cake. Not us.

And if we could farm the Raid rewards daily, then when the casuals managed to achieve them they would not feel as special snowflakes because “all the kitten elitists have it already, this sucks!”. But because it is weekly, everyone is going to be on the same playing field and they will feel more special about it.

Dont know about you, but I had closure ever since that interview 1 year ago said dungeons were not being worked on and Hard Mode would never be implemented in GW2 because it separated the playerbase

If a raid requires healing, I don’t want to be forced to have a Cleric’s on my party. I want the more active alternative: I want people to merge together when the healing time is needed, someone drops a water field and others blast it, filling the party’s health.

That is such a better and more beautiful concept to me than having a clerics shout healer warrior spamming shouts off cooldown to heal.

Where less skilled groups/players will pick the easy way out: gear, to solve their problems, while still allowing skilled players to be able to perform the content without resorting to passive stats. That’s really what I want. Keeps everyone happy.

The current PvE content allows you to facetank with zerkers, that is what I mean. You can for sure facetank it even more with defensive stats. Actually in the current dungeons, defensive stats may even be harder because you take more time to kill.

You can have “defensive” roles without forcing tank gear down people’s throats. Example? Warrior with mace/sword, blocking and dodging. New Daredevil probably. ETC.

If you look at gear prefix, you do realize there is something else than berserker (incredible huh?

I keep saying this. GW2 PvE should never had stats on gear. It confuses some players (such as yourself, more familiarized with traditional MMOs) about the real purpose of GW2 combat: active. Not passive.

They created gear stats mainly because of PvP, otherwise you would have statless gear in PvE just like GW1

If the raids play more like PVP than current PVE they might as well not exist to me, I won’t be doing them.

But a gameplay where you can’t face tank everything, where some people will need to spec defensively to carry the group, where you will need all skills in your bar to succeed etc… sorry, but that is the least I expect from raids.

Yeah…. because Zerkers are the ones facetanking stuff.

Seriously you just want to be able to “tank” in a no-trinity MMO. Don’t bullkitten around, that’s all you want to achieve in here. And that’s okay, but don’t claim it to be the “better” solution or even the most skillfull decision. Even if you say you should specc defensively and not be able to facetank, what’s the point? What is this obsession with wanting extra defensive stats to carry you, instead of depending on your own actions?

The fact is that it is easier to be specced defensively and rely on passive defense stats to carry you rather than be specced offensively and rely on reacting through active defenses.

Guess which one is the more engaging and active. Hint: not the facetanking one.

If it’s not a bannable offense, then:

1st: What constitutes LFG Abuse in the report section? Is it not griefing?

2nd: What would happen if everyone was given green light to do this? Do you really think there would be no punishment if this run wild and free?

I have integrity and as such I wouldn’t ever do this to anyone else, but I can see weaker players who are victim of this succumbing to the temptation to revenge by repeating the offense themselves to others, “in order to regain what was lost”. Psychology 101.

Yeah… but I only have a printscreen, those 3 stopped representing their guild before doing this and immediately blocked me and the other guy as joined, they clearly did this before.

I have them added and nametagged but there’s not much I can do now.

This post is not much to seek justice for myself (it was just an Arah run) but to prevent it for others seeing as those 3 are clearly frequently doing this…

So I just had 3 people enter my Arah and finished the dungeon without paying me. I couldn’t obvious kick them due to the new kicking system. I was a sitting duck while they destroyed the instance and finished it.

They left as soon as they finished it and collected their free reward.

So. Where can I submit my report to a GM?

I think Nike’s fear was confirmed when they said Raids won’t require any composition and completable with any random set of classes.

If the raid can be completed with 10 Cleric Guardians, it’s never gonna be truly challenging is it.

They said there will be three raids coming. They’re probably already in development. I’m calling it now: there will be at most one more new raid after those three.

Anet will then move on to the next big thing while people are left hanging waiting for the next raid (see dungeons, fractals, guild missions).

To be specific they said there were three raid WINGS coming. The only metric used with raid wings I believe was just WoW, where each Wing would have more than 1 boss encounter.

Let’s assume then that there are at least 6 extremely difficult bosses then, given that they want Raiders (Weee we get to use that name now!) to start raiding a few weeks into the first of three wings, perhaps we can assume if the wing was too easy for another wing to open up the patch after (2 weeks) or perhaps a month after.

Yes, there are a lot of assumptions made, my point being is that I…am of the side that thinks Arenanet likely has only just this raid fully conceived with perhaps the next raid starting to form, but that raid won’t be mentioned at the very least for 6 months after HoT release.

Each raid will contain only 3 bosses, not 6. It’s on the blogpost

So i dont know what you guys were expecting.

I’m holding off until I hear feedback about you guys who played about content/difficulty. 1 raid with 3 wings, each with only 3 bosses sounds a bit less than I expected and too little to jump the gun with 50 bucks.

I don’t think it’s unwise to curb the enthusiasm. Especially when (and I’m repeating myself) this has happened before: “We’ll introduce Dungeons with Living Story” – Introduced Aetherpath and then abandoned.

If abandonment is now out of the question, if for whatever reason we can take more raids as granted and not as following the previous endeavours/examples, the next question arrises:

If Living Story is the main engine behind introducing more Raids, what does that mean to those Raid’s difficulty?

Because we all know Living Story instances are supposed to be completed by pretty much everyone, the skill floor is low.

Jerus he also said the new system promoted more variation, but if youre going to farm you 50 Daily Fractal Scale you will now ALWAYS face the same fractal there. Its going to be forever 50 cliffside or whatever one gets placed there.

Thats a downgrade from the old one. Thats less variation.

Because its rare. Because its not Gemstore. Because its not handed to everyone who comes serves themselves through leeching and AFKing like they do in open world.

I wont like when I see every casual around with Fractal Skins that were supposedly for a different player type.

The system is not perfect but lets take into consideration what Devs said yesterday:

  • you can buy skins if you reach lvl 50 fractals GOOD

They established a numerical limit and you think it is quite good. But then the next comment by Anet happens:

  • they said they would be reducing difficulty from 0-50 BAD

Kind of ruins the old 50 difficulty that we thought it was an acceptable barrier of entry to get skin access.

  • price is merely 20 pristine, meaning ultra casuals and not very skilled can, after reaching the to-be-nerfed FOTM 50, farm twenty level 1 island and get them.

Possible solution: Since you get 1 pristine no matter what tier you complete, skins should cost Pristine + Regular Fractal tokens. To ensure higher level players get an easier access to them, while making lower levels actually want to farm higher level fractals and not easy low levels.

I could keep going but I think you got my point.

Some napkin math about new fractals:

Before, we had 50 levels. Progress each level required 3 fractal + boss fractal = 4.
To reach level 50 one had to complete a minimum 200 total fractals.

We now have 100 levels. To progress each level we are only required to complete 1 fractal. That is 25% of previous system: 1/4.
To reach level 100 from level 0 with the new system, one only has to complete 100 fractals.

Funnily enough, the new 100 levels will only equate to previous Fractal level 25, in terms of progress. The new 0-50 range would be equivalent to Old fractal level 13. Aproximately. The old 0-50 range would be equivalent to New unexisting fractal level 200

Tl;Dr: Old System Fractal 0-25 = New System Fractal 0-100.

Only timed daily leaderboards can save it now because Im already seeing Fractal skins losing all their prestige.

Depending on how the instabilities and dailies work I could see it really increasing build variety. Increased toughness would really hit the standard setup (i hope it’s not basline for higher fractals an in an instability form). But, no projectile defense for example, now strategies for many encounters change. I’m all for that kind of stuff. Make us play differently. Make us change out strategies. One size fits all just isn’t great, now I’d have prefered new content to make us change, but adjusting the way things works creates different encounters where we can’t just bring what we always have.

Changing strategy is fine. Making people change gear isn’t, in my opinion.

When I correlate Conditions to PHIW is merely because the main advocates behind them are, in fact, PHIWs on reddit and et cetera. I also want to point out that conditions allow players to be a bit more tanky because they dont depend on as many stats as pure damage.

I want to refresh the point that this new fractal system makes it that much harder to add new fractals, since they would have to reorganize the entire “1 specific Island per Scale number” when adding a new one.

It’s not a friendly system for adding new content. What I see is a system friendly of being explored by a larger quantity of casual players and then left abandoned after everyone is done with it.

Unfortunately, I don’t see this being an expansive system at all.

Just remember we went from 3 fractals + 1 boss fractal to 1 fractal to be able to progress through scales.

And also remember that mobs will not only scale from HP + damage but also from precision and toughness. PHIWs will be kittening all over the place from the increased effectiviness of their condition specs.

Why are they acting like they are catering to “hardcores” and “casuals” at the same time, when it’s clearly this only benefits casuals?

Additionally, it paces out the rate at which you experience certain Fractals, so you don’t have to fight the same encounters over and over again!

I don’t understand this. It seems to me, that the new system will be even more exhaustive than the old system. Let’s see:

Old system, basically: Swamp + 2 random fractals + random boss fractal

New system: One fixed fractal per scale.

Players farm daily scales, for example: Daily 50, or Daily 49, etc. So players that do their daily scale fractals will actually be repeating the same encounters over and over again instead of having some kind of variation to it!

For example: Cliffside gets locked into Scale 50. Players farming their daily 50 will only encounter Cliffside from now on.

I really want an explanation, because I’m not seeing how that unfolds.

“The new static schedule will allow you to practice a given fractal and learn its challenges with your friends, removing the necessity of rerolling fractals in order to find the fractal of your choice.”

I dont think its going to be locked into specifics. I think you can choose whatever you want. Maybe the bonus daily is tied to a certain one. But there will probably still be worthwhile rewards to completing other fractals on the same scale.

At least I hope so.

Static shards is really great for a lot of reasons. Records included.

If you can only play the given shard from that day, it’s a downgrade from the current system.

If you can select a given shard from the list, it’s still a downgrade from the current system, because who will NOT select swamp?

“One of the core changes we’re making is that each fractal run will only consist of one island from a static list instead of the current rotation of three random islands with a random boss fractal. "

This means that you can easily level fractals just by doing 1 fractal, instead of 3 fractals + 1 boss fractal.

What this means is that everyone is going to level their FOTM lvl 4 times faster than before.
