I had an issue with messages being supressed for about an hour for posting ~5 dyes in /say (it’s the only way I can put them in the preview window) I put in the codes from: http://tinyurl.com/d956s7y
Does length or content of message have an affect? or is is strictly X msgs in X mins
huh… that’s dumb
When using command line extensions the trading post in inaccessible.
For example, I use the following: -nopatchui -email -password. Unless I close the game and reopen it “the normal way” the entire black lion trading company is “Error” except, oddly, pick up.
I know this is an issue with the fov extension as well.
This has been since the patch just before karka whatnot. Still have heard no solutions.
It disallows me from using mumble’s overlay (which is not causing the issue), and makes me load the game slower. Quite frustrating, especially since I’m used to hitting the icon with the extensions. Then, I need to wait for the game to load-up before I can close it, only to reopen it, log-in, and have it load again.
Anyone else still with this issue? Any solutions? A-net?
If this isn’t a bug, and operates as intended, please A-net let us/me know. and why?
Ele’s with Icebow. I get it! Enough have said it.
What about guardian?!?
Come back! Also, most of the lyrics work; i like it. Try to rework “like unfair combat abilities”
Also, find a new singer
Truely impressive on all fronts: camera, content, and coordination.
My gaurdian is all damage build because most people who pug dungeons either have bad gear, a bad build, don’t know how to dodge, don’t listen to people who know the dungeon and do low dps so I just go for the fastest damage I can put out and pray it’s enough lol.
This is exactly my goal!
What’s your build and/or what do you think of mine?
Also, drkn, ever heard of wells/lich? they’re boss at AC3.
Let the lvl 80 guy in your group with 4 AC armor pieces call the targets (and attack just the targets)!
I lol’d
Glad someone enjoyed that XD
Post started as a rage, but then turned into a “how dpssy can a guardian be?”
The answer seems to be “A guardian w/ icebow is the most dpssy” lol
Today I was with a PUG of four lvl 40-45’s and myself lvl 80. First group didn’t listen… ever… at all… second group was good. Listened, understood, moved fast, respec’d (as much as poss “in-dungeon”), but it still wasn’t enough. Just couldn’t get out enough dmg. Having this dungeon as rec lvl 35 seems a bit ridiculous. Mind you four 80’s can do this no problem.
It all depends on your team and your players, me and my guild have also run this with alts we were levelling no problem. But on the other hand I have done this with PuG 80’s who utterly failed.
People should learn that very little in this game is level based, it all comes down to knowing how to play, teamwork and of course your build and keeping your gears up-to-date. Being in AC as a level50 with level 25 armor just won’t do it.
Guess it wasn’t clear I meant a random group of four lvl 80’s who listen and get the concept of how the run works and adjust their utilities can do it without a problem. Interesting that people keep getting hung up on that, it’s as if they don’t read the whole post. The group I had that repec’d as much as poss without buying books was a necro, me @guardian, war, thief, and ranger. Just couldn’t get the DPS high enough
Also, tried a group with Icebow ele… SO BOSS.
The build (not as nice to look at in text format):
10/30/30/0/0

akamon, I appreciate your post.
I’ve pugged since with success, sometimes after a few tries. It was really this one particular time it didn’t work; even after the group (the second one in my op) knew what was up and tweaked as best they could without buying a book knew the order the burrows popped in, etc. 4 failed attempts in a row maxing at 80% was the final straw. I was just thinking of maxing my dps trait wise to make things easier for future groups.
For rock face, and other stuff, I’d go back to my usual build: tome of courage, staff/GS, sanctuary, hallowed ground, and merciful justice & I’d still have my healing armor.
I had the same message pop up a while back. Turned out my bank had blocked the charges due to the fact that all they see is a charge from a company located in korea.
A quick call remedied the issue. In the mean time, have you tried using a gem card? might help to determine if it’s an account issue or it may work and you’ll have gems
Banish + Zealot’s Embrace + Wall of Reflection = Turning a 3v1 into a 2v1 momentarily.
Not useless at all, just don’t put it in a rotation. For an on-topic response, as a profession that can, in the right circumstances, be very easily kited, it would be really nice if we had some kind of ranged cripple like, I dunno, every other profession has! (Affliction and Shackle don’t count
)
I kinda think if Smite were re-worked it could be a good candidate for cripple. Although, imagine a CRIPPLE SYMBOL!!
Like if the staff symbol was swiftness/cripple? I’d be down with that.
That’s what I figured you meant; that’s why I followed up with the fact I generally go middle-of-the-road, but this path calls for an offence specific strategy, middle of the road simply doesn’t work. Unlike path 1 & 2 where the middle works quite well.
I suppose if you went straight defense with 5 shield & sanctuary guardians you could, in theory, CC defend one of the collectors long enough. But that’d require a LOT more organization and not be a pug-able option.
Just wondering if players would want Anet to introduce something like this:
1. Hometowns get fancily decorated. Including music, various event items/costumes, etc.
2. Scavenger hunts and/or events based on racial lore get added starting in the hometowns and go into/through the respective 1-15 & 15-25 zones. Sorry asura and sylvari
3. The scavenger hunts should be restricted racially ofc.
4. And they should reward town clothing.
5. Maybe a racial armor or weapon (skin or real) for added incentive to participate.
I feel it would:
1. Increase player connection to character and chosen race.
2. Cause people to spend more time on each of the races.
3. Finally give us more town clothes options. Possibly causing people to actually wear town clothes from time to time.
4. Give the lore dept. something to do They’re geniuses, I’d like to see what they’d do with it.
5. Give some meaning/interest back to home towns (instead of everything being so LA-centric)
It should be short ~24hrs (scav hunt taking ~1hr/race to complete)instead of a huge week long bash.
Thoughts? Comments? Concerns?
p.s. There’s no general “Races” thread, so I posted here in human (cause we’re the best!). I suppose if there’s enough interest I’ll post again in the other races. I just don’t want it to be viewed as spam if I post the same thing 5 times in different threads. Or should this go into suggestions?
p.p.s. This could also be separated further into profession specific, or maybe also do a Profession appreciation day.
Hounds got replaced with misfire wolf
I supposed they can be argued to be stronger by a very small margin.
There’s no point in spending 30pts for something you get for free.
7/10 Last name is hard to pronounce and reminds me of a horse (Mare). Actually… 8/10 Jet is appropriate for the fact that ele’s always have swiftness up.
me? I’m Quiznos, a street rat human who lost his sister and went on to become a guardian. I like to think he’s been raised by wolves and had some pet spongmonkies. It’s who I’ve always been since imperial conflict, my first online game
1-List the issue.
- Staff does not work on Z-axis.
2-Detail why it annoys you.
- You cannot hit targets that are above or below you. Example: the gargoyles in AC’s spider room. It’s one of the main reason I rarely equip the staff beside for mobility.
3-Short description of what you would like to be changed so its fixed.
- Make it like a dome effect so you can hit targets above and below you.
This is exactly what I was gonna post after reading the thread title
Most of you seem to miss that I understand the strategy of how this path works.
Good tip on the Ice bows though!
@mosspit Usually I try to go 2, 1, 3.
EDIT: Just wanted to add. I’m not looking for a general/team strategy. I’m looking for a good way to spec my character (a human guardian) for this path. Though I do appreciate the comments anyway. Could be helpful to others
(edited by Quiznos.4296)
I’ve never not gotten a bag of goods. 0_o
As for fighting him:
Is the reward worth the difficulty? yes. I think most can agree to that.
Is the reward worth the time? …depends on your value of time and if you find him “fun.”
And instead of leaving your party or kicking for fighting/skipping why not determine before even entering the dungeon? i.e. “LFG AC path X w/ kholer” or “LFG AC path X w/o kholer” Leaving/kicking is just rude. (ofc if anything takes more than 1 attempt it’s acceptable by my book)
For the “fight/skip or I leave mindset”: Is leaving, finding a new party, and getting through the intro stuff up to the kholer part, and doing the dungeon without that WP faster than just killing him? If so, please, feel free to link a video
I go down twice when I fight him, on a good day only once. Doesn’t matter the group I’m with. It’s worth a damaged piece or two. And I enjoy the challenge; one day I hope to go down nonce. The whole “broken armor” argument is. . . well. . . broken.
I usually run with at least 1 guildie (it’s hard to find guildies/familiar people in Borlis during the times I’m on). In this case I had he was lvl 42(?) warrior. He and I alone did most of the dmg. I guess I’m just wondering if this spec with 1 other “good damager” would be enough to carry along lower lvl non-DPS-spec’d pugs.
I guess it’d be easier for me to just put “If you’re on Borlis: Add me to your friends list; when I’m on msg me ‘AC 3’ and I’ll come along”
it looks like you’re trying to munchkin. Either be straight defense, or straight attack. You should try go middle of the road.
That build was supposed to be straight offence specifically to make this particular part of this particular path of this specific dungeon easier. I think my DPS will be higher with high crit dmg and chance. As opposed to investing in power, even though that has better traits, specifically for the spirit sword.
Best I could do with guardian (and a build calculator). Guardian, it seems, just isn’t great at the whole DPS thing…
I’m also a little confused about you post, you tell me go straight defense, or offence, or try middle of the road. I’ve never seen this specific part of the dungeon successfully done without spiking down the burrows. Though the other paths I run “middle of the road” with generally great success, but this post isn’t about those other paths.
here’s a video showing (in my mind, at least) a perfect run of this part:
http://tinyurl.com/blqdh5w
Kill each burrow in under 9 seconds. Easy peasy. Let the lvl 80 guy in your group with 4 AC armor pieces call the targets (and attack just the targets)!
Now that that’s out of the way. . .
So I figured, what if went and spec’d out for max dmg? Would that make it a kitten-ton easier for pugging it? or do I just need to be the guy who puts a lvl req on party invites?
Here’s where you, the community, come in. I’m playing a lvl 80 Guardian. Ran greatsword/staff (didn’t touch the staff though) with a build focused more on healing and then tuned “in-dungeon” to do more damage.
I just developed the following build:
http://tinyurl.com/crks6am
1. Build suggestions?
2. Will this be viable for other paths? (I think so, just would swap out for retreat & tome of courage)
3. Has anyone completed this path, recently, with <lvl 45’s (pug or not)?
4. Do you think it’s worth it? cost of book, primarily. (I’m not changing my armor)
I am a level 80 guardian as well and when I made my “permanent” weapon choices, I picked 1. Great sword, 2. Hammer and 3. Staff. I never run a dungeon without having the staff equipped as a secondary weapon.
There are just too many situations were melee is 1. impractical, 2. inefficient, 3. against the group strategy. Guardians are a melee class and should be in melee but not having ranged is inexcusable in dungeons.
Edit:
I am not disputing that their are uber Guardians who can melee 100% of the time and maybe the OP is one of those uber Guardians. But if you team asks you to go range and you refuse, thus go against team strategy, your team is under no obligation to stick with you.
This, exactly this (minus the hammer bit), I run greatsword 99% of the time except for the rare occasion I need/want the staff. No need for anything else. (Well there may be, but I’m about to start a different thread for that)
Just got an exotic drop from kholer chest today. and the rest of my group wanted to skip. they also later went and tried to actually defend on path 3 instead of just killing burrows
Anet should post a “Safe to delete: X Y Z items” message after each event. Like. . . What if we need stuff for next year?!?!
That’d be cool btw, Anet, a 7 year long progressively growing event. Start it in April’s event! called “The Mighty Quiz(nos)” :P
“I spent 3 grueling hours of my sunday to get a chance at that big chest and I would be furious if ANET gave that karka earring/bag to everyone that participated… That actually made all the time i spent WORTH IT.”
I agree with this sentiment. Except " to get a chance at that big chest" we didn’t even know one would be there, but we stuck it out anyway. If you got DC’d you could’ve gotten in again. The event didn’t end nor start at the same time on all the overflows.
OP, if they were to go through with your suggestion: 1 time stamping/mapping every character log in/out would probs take a lot of time and resources. Then how do they know who opened the chest already? Do those of us who did open it get double rewarded? If not, do those of us rewarded get the money/mats from selling/salving the items taken away, and get our items back? For those who put in X hours feel justified when those who put in 1 hour get the same loot? What about all those players who were lucky enough to get into the event in the last few minutes/seconds before the chest spawn, do they lose their items?
It’s too many questions, too little answers, and too time consuming to do anything but a roll back. And roll backs are a last resort. This situation, as unfortunate as it may be for some, isn’t deserving of a roll back.
I’m sorry you feel your time was wasted. My time wasn’t; I had fun. I got to play with more people than I had ever seen in one place before. And everyone was helping each other. I got to fight the biggest GW2 creature I’ve yet to see. More than usual of my guildies were on at one time and we all got to play/chat together. Yeah, I got the loot at the end (after playing start to finish for ~3 hrs). The 20 slot and earring were what I liked. The rest was “meh.” This event though, as a whole, had so many rewarding aspects you can’t exactly quantify. It’s a shame people can’t enjoy a game (video or otherwise) without being handed a trophy.
If I didn’t get any rewards I would’ve been upset for maybe ten mins or so. What makes me really angry for a long time is when they start just giving things away, when I earned it. Like LDOA in GW1 for example. All that DLing only to see people getting it in a day or two after the change
They should scale up armor/weps to max lvl too. That would be nice, especially since the weekend was invite a friend. I tried running on my lvl 2 with a new friend. . . didn’t go well. Hopped on with my 80. No problem.
Only for the special super fancy events of course.
As for reflect projectile, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a few reflections skills slightly nerfed soon. Even though I think it goes to show the player needs to adapt to the environment.
As far as no 1v1ing if the event scales up due to player volume (even if they aren’t helping you) i’d expect it to be not very possible. Though, even without an event it’s ok by me too. Content that makes you find/bring a friend along is good content. (assuming it’s only 1 or two zones)
Great thread! Amazed at people keeping the format. But you should include “Good for an invitee” 8 and “sense of community 9”
1)graphics (1-bad…10-amazing) – 9
2)sound(1-bad…10-amazing) – 7
3)story concept/originality (1-boring…10-captivating) – 8
4)loot/reward (1-lost all my money…10-gained amazing items) – 9
5)stability (1-extremly buggy…10-no bugs) – 6 (only because things were corrected)
6)network connection/speed (1-laggy,disconnections, 10 – perfect connection) – 3
7)mini events length (1-to long/short…10-just right) – 10
8)overall event length (1-to long/short…10-just right) – 9
9)overall Satisfaction (1-worst experience ever,10-best experience ever) – 10
When’re you tallying the totals/avgs?
I agree with the lottery sentiment. Hey, some people just get lucky. Luck is how you get the precursors anyway (mystic forge) or you could buy them. Everyone had their luck increased that day and those who didn’t get lucky still saw the prices drop immediately after the event. Me? I got a “bad” exotic chest piece and two “meh” rares.
What bothers me is that the event didn’t end (or start it seems) on all the servers at the same time; nor did the event lock people out who left mid event or came late. This led to people sneaking in at the end of the event and getting the chest for doing nothing. Others even went as far as logging in on a different character and finding an “incomplete” overflow and opening the chest more than once, again, after doing little to nothing.
If it’s supposed to be “one-time” it should be one. time.
My suggestion would’ve been run it twice 12 hrs apart (or four times 8 hrs apart) where you must start and finish the event in one go, and you can only do it once per account.
well I disagree. These jumping puzzles do nothing for me, and the time the devs spend doing them could have been spent doing something else.
jumping puzzles, as you said, are not necessary. So it only bothers me to the extent that resources were diverted to develop something that I don’t like. now we can argue about how many people do them or don’t of course… and nobody can win this argument.
In the meantime, I’d like to know when the Wvw (one of the unique features of this game) will get some attention… incentivisation, gear progression, new maps, new objectvies etc…
Actually the devs waste time on a fairly consistent basis; constantly going in a million different directions until it all comes together. I’d love to see the full list of scrapped ideas, and how far some of them made it before scrapping. I also love how people think “a dev is a dev” and they can simply work on any project that needs it. Passion is important in the work place (especially one that requires creativity) I don’t see a jumping puzzle designer doing gear for WvW, maybe maps. . . if you want a new objective/map maybe (s)he could/should add another obsidian sanctum
Skipping stones BTW is awesome (and I’ve not even finished it yet).
It’s a level 80 exclusive zone (after this weekend). Please keep that in mind. I like the difficulty where it stands.
Also, you may be forgetting that party cap is 5.
Run with some mates a few times & watch what they do. Keep trying and I’m sure you’ll figure it out.
now I’m getting the ERROR: Invalid Authorization error.

typical eye cannot detect movement faster than 32 fps. Why do you need a higher frame rate? unless you plan on recording video and then reviewing it in slow-mo. (or is it just for bragging rights?)
4.4Ghz doesn’t mean a whole lot without the # of cores or actual processor name (architecture is important). The second you OC you lose all support from everyone ever btw. Power supply either works, or doesn’t, no need to mention it; certainly wont affect frames. Try running with 1 graphics card (or disable crossfire). define “clean format” did you completely format your hard drive, and install nothing but drivers and GW2? Update your drivers for everything & disable as many processes as possible Anything that shows your user name next to it in task manager can be ended (don’t end taskmgr though). Then try running GW2 right from the task manager.
I run max settings w/ v-sync at ~30fps 1920×1080 resolution on my laptop, not over clocked, core i7 (Q840) @ 1.87GHz, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850 (1Gb ded & 3Gb shared), DX10, 8GB RAM, off a SSD. Internet speeds of 25 down 5 up.
For me it’s exactly as you’ve described Novablair, but it does not matter if I fully type out the item name or use the dropdown. When I actually am able to select an item I get a connection error notification
I keep getting that firewall connection error as well
I would love to see skritt as playable!
As far as tengu. From what I’ve read they were going to be playable, then got scrapped. But I think it’d be fair to expect them in the first expansion
red orange yellow green blue purple gray brown = colors
legendary exotic rare masterwork fine common junk = qualities
I get the same thing. except I can search once per opening of the trading post. though atm I can’t buy anything neither can many of my guildies
Trading Post Can't Buy Items (firewall error)

I get the message for the Log-in server being down may be due to a firewall playing on a campus etc. However, this is ONLY when I click an item in the TP to purchase it (or go to sell an item).
Error code 10:59:1:252:101
I get this same thing since the patch but ONLY on the trading post when going to buy or sell an item. . . Anybody else?
once I was in-game heart of mists loaded up no prob
took 6 tries but I’m in now.
My character was in LA. Connection drops during map loading screen after quite some time
I was wondering this as well. . . any news?
If things are working as described in the patch notes. Thank you.
If not, really? just really? Another broken patch? I’m angry (still, if not more)
-Going to find out now. I will post upon completion of all possible CM runs and an extra to make sure the returns diminish as described. I’ll try to provide screens when possible as well.
Unless you’re stacking magic find like mad, you’re more than likely going to walk away with blues generally worth around 55-75 copper. You’ll maybe earn about 4 – 6 silver from vendoring blues, but that’s pretty much it.
I have….like 0 magic find and I gain 20-60s each run…? How is it that nobody else can manage this?
the rewards system is broken.
“if a person wants a certain stat combo on their helm” (Sorry formatting not working)
People really shouldn’t run dungeons for stats (there are better ways to get better stat armor) However, they should be running for the skins.
While with a universal token system would provide the option of running any dungeon. Players would just run 1 dungeon (the fastest one).
" go to WvW. 2-8 silver per event" WvW also has rewards tokens, if you haven’t noticed, and it’s rewarding (which you have clearly noticed).
Dungeons in their current state are not rewarding. Most people aren’t asking to get rich, but want to have the rewards match the effort/difficulty.
I’ve been wanting this for a while now. A full repair at the end. As for stopping death zerg, respawn timer, another simple solution. Maybe even kick people from the dungeon if they die whilst naked?
