Should I quit playing my engineer?

Its not all about dps in any case. There is utility also. The Guardian suffers the same issues being lower on dps also. But the the utility both classes provide a group or even just those around them , make up IMO, the lower dps. The extra buffs and support are always appreciated in a DE.

Much like playing a healer or mystic / shaman in other games.

I actually like this facet of the game. It keeps all the maps new and all the boss fights and dynamic events on an even scale between the players

End Game at 80?

I don’t even want to think about endgame right now. That would mean that I had already explored the whole world with at least one toon. I want the newness to last. So I’m leveling 5 toons concurrently…more to come.

How can you defeat an enemy who is 2 levels better than you?

Hmmm….with good gear & upgrades you should be able to fight mobs 3-5 levels ahead of you if you use your ranged abilities effectively. If you keep your battles relegated to 1:1 or maybe 2:1 tops

I do this pretty regularly as I like to explore.

Welcome to the world of clothies /casters. Either back up and start kiting from a distance or find a guardian or ranger to run with. My wife is an Ele and we duo with my Ranger…makes a great pair with the rangers “healing spring” to share…I keep an eye on her health bar also.

But she can solo with the best of them also. Maintain your distance and keep moving when fighting…can’t tell you how many times I see new eles run up close to the mob or boss and just stop to start casting

The Thief is like a reality check from almost all the other classes. You just gotta watch what you are doing, kite, keep track of initiative…and try not to pull more than than a couple at a time.

Will we ever only have 9 skill slots?

I think having 30 buttons to mash (like some games) while trying to keep up the near constant movement in this game would be a huge distraction. Admittedly, after coming from one of those games to here…my first reaction was "where are all my spells/strikes’?

But after playing for awhile, I’m glad they went with the model they did. It just makes for a more active style of play.

What is the best profession in Guild Wars 2?

in Players Helping Players

My current favorite classes are Ranger and Warrior. The Ranger is my main so far…perfect for solo play and kiting mobs.

My Warrior, however, is just a blast to play. I dual wield using a mainhand longsword for the leaping strike and an offhand axe for the spinning attack.

I use a rifle for ranged attacks…the shots get off kind of slow, but as the target closes, you can use the butt of the rifle to knock it back and get another shot or 2 off before switching back to blades for close combat.

I’m working on a Thief, Guardian and Mesmer also. All 3 classes, I find challenging to play for a variety of different reasons.

You have 5 character slots. Use them. And find out what you really like.
