There are people that are bored with it and are playing less. Perhaps not on your server? When the DBL was the only map, I cut my wvw playtime by about 85%. I prefer the ABL though.

Why not have both? Then everyone can play.

Already voted for shared BL’s. Its really the only way to keep everyone playing. There are a lot of us that will simply go into hibernation if the DBLs’ only come back. Just like last time.

Every server uses siege when it suits their purposes. Pretending otherwise is naive.

Given the number of servers, you really can’t leave BG & Desolation unlinked. Just leave them linked to the last place servers.

Then link the T1 2nd & 3rd place servers and the T2 1rst & 2nd place servers to offset the populations of the over loaded BG & Deso.

Rotate the DBL between server combos. EBG in the usual place & 2 ABL’s to 1 DBL…rotate the DBL/ABL each week.

Changing the DBL with ABL’s quarterly will just mean a portion of accounts won’t play at all when their preferred map is not available.

Just like right now

They need to figure out how to run all 3 maps so everyone will play. Maybe give the DBl to one server combo and rotate that between server combos every week?

Sounds like someone’s playing too much ESO to me.

Can’t think of a worse example to model WvW after.

I’m enjoying the return of the Alpine Maps. They are simple and made for fighting. I want to fight other players…not fight the map to just get to other players.

When the time comes to go back to the DBL’s, I’ll just go back to EB or even put GW2 aside until the Alpine maps return.

Still don’t like the Desert BL’s. If I can’t get into EB (and I haven’t been able to in weeks), I just go play something else.

Alliance play in microcosm…just wait til we are down to 3 supermega-servers.

Everyone will hate everyone else. Mutiple private TS’s, megaguilds and no coordination at all.

At one time, I would have said, “Heck Yeah”…but not so sure nowadays. Things have moved on. New Guild fired up in another game and having a good time there. Old guild here dead and friends moved on.

I’ll step foot into WvW to sight see the ol homestead. Might even follow a zerg around. But its highly unlikely I’ll ever play like I used to.

I don’t have 5 priorities. Just 2…the rest of it isn’t all that important to me.

First and foremost:

1) Revert back to the Alpine Maps sans Desert BL mechanics. I simply don’t like the desert BL’s for all of the previously mentioned reasons by so many people

2) Stability is an issue. Though the underlying issues may be more related to mastery skills in WvW. Some of which have literally changed the gameplay for the worse.

But I could live with/without # 2.

If #1 was instituted, I’d start playing again, lol.

Check to see if I can get into EB. Not tonight…35 man queue…sign out and go play some other game.

I doubt they will go the route of monthly subs but then again they haven’t mentioned it one way or another. I do agree with you though. Buying content once is nice. Mythic didn’t start it actually although not sure if that is what you are implying. Few other MMO’s prior to charged monthly. Anyway something needs to yield because the current state of WvW is a train wreck.

Can’t catch a movie w/ a drink and popcorn for that price…considering how many hours anyone is likely to put into that game.

Simple… subscription mmos tend to make people feel obligated to play, even when they’re dissatisfied with the game, due to the amount of money they have already thrown at it. Secondly, 95% of the newer subscription model mmos eventually drop the subscription model for a f2p one, after they start seeing their monthly sub accounts nose dive. Only thing is… and in a desperate attempt to maintain the previous cash flow… these newly f2p games also quite often tend to go hard core Pay2Win.

So again, thanks but no thanks.

Bad logic. Do you “feel” obligated to stay with the same ISP if you are dissatisfied with their service? Even though you’ve used them for years.

Or stay with the same make and model of vehicle that you dislike just cause you’ve had one for years.

I won’t be back until they bring back the Alpine BL’s. Or, at the very least, start rotating them with the Desert BL’s.

Lets have them take it back to the days when WvW loot was almost non-existent and it took the efforts of 3 pve toons just to keep you in siege and repairs

So your plan is since everyone hates the new BL maps and likes EB, you take away what they like and make it so they hate all the maps so they rage quit instead of play? This so reminds me of that manager that was fired from a store here recently who took away the most popular products in the store to try and make the people buy the unpopular ones so they left their carts and stopped shopping there instead and almost caused the store to close. Although they have hired a new manager now, the store will never be as busy as it once was due to customers refusing to shop there anymore over what that stupid manager did before.

What you propose is to lose customers permanently so the people who will " settle for whatever" use what is left after everyone else leaves. YIKES.

The assumption is on your part. You assume that EB is full because people like it. EB is full because it is a better option than the new BL’s right now. But not everyone likes the map.

Personally, I never played EB much until recently. I loved the Alpine BL’s and the strat that went with them.

ANet is not going to abandon a brand new map. So..how best to utilize it? Far better to replace just one map with a new, albeit highly unpopular, map than to replace 3 entire maps with it.

EB has always been more popular than the borderlands, now due to how bad the new maps are it is their only choice. You assume that EB is only popular due to the new maps.. it was always the most popular map, this just made it so people would rather play in LA at the bank than in a DBL map now.

The assumption is on your part that people do not want more maps like EB, why not just ask them? Put a poll up when people log into wvw what they would like. I already have been discussing this with many people so I already know what the answer will be.
You are suggesting kill WvW once and for all by removing EB. Unpopular = customers take their business elsewhere. It is a poor business decision.

Bring the old BL’s back for a week (or 2) and compare active populations.

I think you’ll find an answer there. Though it may not be what you wanted to see.

Megaserver vs megaserver is coming, I think. …eventually.

EotM was the test bed for that style of play.

What does that have to do with anything? TC is more populous than either FA or SoS. The point of his post is that not many people on TC care for the new maps.

Hence, a 160 man queue.

Only thing I like about the expac is my Revenenant. Just a fun class. But not enough, you know?

But the Maguma & the Elite stuff?…nah, too much grind. Quit playing it after a few hours.

The new BL’s just make me sad. In T2 during NA Prime last night. Ran around FA & SoS’s new BL map for an hour and a half. Saw exactly one enemy in each map. And one was afk. Just Pvd….boring.

Of course, EB is queued.

I’m down to maybe 2 hrs a week in GW2 now. Playing other games again.

I run Knights w/ Traveler Runes. Zerk on everything else. Spec’d for Devastation, Corruption & Invocation.

Anet need to limit the new borderlands so only one is available at a time… not all three.. its quite evident that T1 doesn’t have the player capacity to make this work so what their intentions were with the other servers is beyond reason.

The lower tier servers are actually more enjoyable and probably the best for roaming. There is absolutely no reason to go to the new Borderlands cause even on T1 you can run around for 40 minutes and get one fight…. Where as on lower tier servers such as T3 & T4 EBG is booming and its not filled to the limit with mindless zerglings… So removing the lower tier servers is a bad idea as majority of roamers will considering transferring out of higher tier servers to go roam in lower tier ones.

That would probably alleviate some of the problem. Alternate EB with the Desert BL. Bring back the Alpine Home BL’s.

Its not a new idea. A lot of games already do this. In a sense, EotM is pushing this boundary also. But combining 3 servers into one alliance might help fill those new BL’s.

I always figured ANet would move towards Alliance style play eventually.

Slowly moving away from WvW now. Been playing other games more and more. Planetside 2, EQ2…even, ugh…ESO. So have something to keep me busy until another wvw type game launches.

Have played the new maps a bit. But they are all but deserted except in NA Prime. Even then its usually just one zerg k-training on a given BL. EB is usually queued 20+ deep by the time I get home during the week.

Those new BL maps just make me sad. I’m playing less and less lately as EB is always queued to the gills by the time I get off work.

New BL’s in T2 are all but deserted on any given day or night. And now that reset is moved to Saturday night? Saturday mornings & afternoons are a virtual standstill as the match is usually pretty well decided by then.

Oh well…was fun while it lasted.

It’s amusing. The other month people were up in arms because Mike O’Brien insinuated that very few people played the WvW game mode exclusively. Now when you ask where all the WvW players are, you’ll be told “they’re in PvE.” Guess he was right afterall.

Here is reality, my entire guild hates the new maps.

Because of this:

1. We only play on EB so….

2. Some are in PvE waiting for EB queue to pop.

3. Don’t log in as often any more.

Any PvE being done is pretty much only what has been forced upon us.

Pretty much this. If I can’t get into EB in a decent amount of time, I’ll log and go play something else.

The new wvw maps are awful. Well, maybe not awful, but there are too many of them. Let EB & a new map rotate and bring back the Alpine BL’s. Then sit back a watch WvW come back alive.

Replace EB with the new map and bring back the Alpine Home Borderlands. Would be the easiest fix for using the new map. Would concentrate all 3 servers into one of the too large new maps.

Last night. NA Prime in T2. 40 man queue in EB.

No queue in any other map.

FABL though, we capped half the map before finally seeing 1 big FA group. Of course the new build kicked us and locked most of us out for the remainder of the night.

Having 3 of those monstrous BL maps is the problem. ANet got it backwards. Should have left the Alpine maps alone and replaced EB with “1” of the new maps.

Then maybe you could force the 3 servers into one new map for big points. Perhaps then enough people would play there.

That said…don’t particularly care for the new map and will be spending as much time in EB as possible.

A ranged plate class is useless. If you’re not in their face, then you might as well play ranger.

Longsword and Mace are slower than the 2H Greatsword. Which is nuts. Both 1H weapons ought be twice as fast. Animations are pretty clunky too to compared to the GS.

Plus Guardian mace needs a stun, knockback or daze in the 1 skill…I mean its a mace, for pete’s sake…you know..a head knocker?

I don’t really get the bow. Its not an improvement over sword / staff. I mean, I carry a scepter in my bag. But its not like I really ever need it. There are enough ranged classes as it is. Who needs a ranged Guardian?

Ditto…lets address other dumb looking existing weapons before starting to gripe about potential weapons skins. Dumb looking Greatswords? Jeez…where to start? Pearl and anything that glows?? Bah…

The best looking and most appropriately sized GS skin in the game is the Aureate Highlander Greatsword. And even its too big, technically. Not sure what the holes in the blade are for either, but its looks okay.

Honestly, I rather have a voluntary root canal than spend an evening in EotM. WvW is so superior to that trainwreck its not even describable.

Now, I’m off to buy more gems before reset.

Lot of peeps have done it. It should be hard. Thats the whole point of calling it an “achievement”.

Assuming something like that was tried.

Eventually an ever growing mob of uplevel gankers will begin spawn camping the newb area. Eschewing a fair fight in upper level zones. They prey upon new players coming in. Denying them even half a chance to level enough to offer a remotely fair fight.

Less and less people will try the playstyle as word spreads….all the while, these erstwhile pvp’ers will be whining about how (insert game company name) has ruined the server/playstyle by not doing this or that…but in reality, they actually ruined it themselves.

The map would be full for the first 2-3 weeks until people finally start to realize what open world pvp actually means. Then it would be a steady decline in population until the server becomes a ghost town.

Its just game.

I look at it as…an opportunity… for my team….or a “cheat” if you guys do it, lol.

In the end though, I’d like to get as much playtime as I can get. Laggy & buggy is better than being shut out.

ESO is going the alliance vs alliance route. I think if you started this game that way, it would be okay. But now a lot of people have a lot invested in server identity. And WvW being the last bastion of of any form of server identity after the advent of megaservers?

Probably going to get a lot of pushback for going that route.

Although I think, eventually, wvw will likely end up that way.
