I can play 2 games easily. Though I haven’t signed into EQ2 since Head Start here. But thats mostly because trhere is no new content there for me other than running repeatable gears runs over and over in the same zones. If they open new overland content there, I may start playing it again.
But not right now…too much new to explore here.

I’m a one guild person too. Too old fashioned, I guess. Can’t really see the advantages of the multi guild system.
I do think the current guild system doesn’t really do much to engender a sense of community. It would be nice to see guild chat text updates when folks sign in or ..say…level up? Just so you know when to say hello or grats.
As things stand right now…if you are questing, 10 peeps could sign in and you’ll never know unless you keep checking the roster.

I always quest higher than my level. Usually 3-4 levels above. XP is better and tactics are required and its a challenge to go 1v1 and live. If the game is too easy for you…step up your personal game.
My warrior does the bridge DE at level 18…though that requires pretty much total ranged attacks. At that level in that DE, to melee is to die immediately.

Only 10 yrs on a good Barolo? Like em young, huh? lol
I’m not really sure what to say to the peeps that scream for end cap, then complain about being bored. I can see myself playing this game for a couple of years easily.
Could be this style of game just isn’t for you?

I play less that 3 hrs per day due to work and RL and I rarely use the market at all. If I run out of mats for any of my 4 crafters, I just go out and harvest. Its slow, but who cares? Its not a race.
The only time I even approach the marketplace is when a crafter is about to hit the next level and I’ve run out of crucial mat. Then I’ll buy some…other than that…everything you need in terms of coin, mats ect..is out in the world waiting on you.
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
Travel costs are totally optional. You could run through the entire game and never use the portal system. Its just not as convenient.
I figure anyone silly enough to try and buy gold from any source outside of Arena Net deserves what they get. Have zero sympathy for any of them.
If you “play” the game, coin comes pretty easily.

You can get short style leather armor from various karma vendors. Preview the coat before buying, then if you like the style…use tranmutation stones to keep it as you level.
Seems like it alternates between trench coats and the shorter style. I prefer the trench coats over the shorter jackets..but thats just me

My Ranger is the highest at level 46 (only play part time)…but I’m also leveling a Mesmer, Thief, Warrior and Guardian whose levels are from 12-25. I like all those classes just as well. Plus I still need a Necro, Engineer and Ele to round out the stable.
My ranger is the explorer and main harvester. The others are just for those days when I feel like doing something different.
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
Initially, we were all on the same level. I don’t think the population has dropped. Its just that the first surge has spread out as people level at their own rate. I like less people on a DE actually. Makes the fight more interesting and less chaotic.

I could care less about the physical rewards. I can upgrade armor and weapons by questing & crafting. The pleasure in the game come from figuring out “how” to accomplish the goal “without” the Trinity and “with” whatever class a Guildie has the most fun playing.
That and exploring every nook and cranny of a brand new world.

Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
I like it the removal of it personally. Makes for some interesting challenges. There are plenty of other games out there that will fulfill innate need for the trinity though. Why wish it on the single game that did away with it?

Just play around with the spelling til you get the phonetic interpretation you want. May look weird in text, but eveyone will know you are….Deth Dealer, Deth Deeler, Deth Deelir, Daeth Dealer, Daeth Deeler, Daeth Deelir etc., etc..
You can do this on any name and get the effect you want.

There is always lack of content at endgame. In every game. At least until the next content update….of which I wouldn’t expect any time soon since the game only opened on Aug 28th.
But there is plenty of content you passed by on your screaming run toward level 80.
If you join an active guild, there is no reason for a dungeon finder.

Changes I’d like to see:
~ Ability to mail to alts
~ We’ve talked about this in Guild also…but the game doesn’t seem to foster a sense of membership in a Guild. It would be nice to have some sort up guildwide update when someone levels or signs in…something to make others stop what they are doing for sec and say Hi or Grats
~ Guild Roster has been kind of wonky lately, so I’m hoping a fix is in somewhere down the road. But sure would be nice to be able to see everyone’s alts, their class & levels. As things stand right now all we can see is the last toon they played on the account.
~ Has anyone else run into this? When I go back to lower zones to harvest with my main, he keeps on getting items his own level. I need the lower level stuff as my crafting, in any game, always lags behind my level. I’ll get there eventually, but it would be nice to harvest zone level items only.
Other than that…its a really good game.
Raf
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
I’m purposefully taking my time. I don’t want all those unexplored lands to open up too quickly. So, I’m currently leveling 5 toons and 3 tradeskills all at once. Slow going..especially having to harvest for the crafting. A bit in the evenings after work. More on the weekends.
But to echo Knight…thats just how I play.

On the Keg brawl, there is an npc that stands off to the side in the middle of the field…go talk to him to get out. I think there is a crossed flag icon on the map for him also.

I’ve seen a lot of role-players in cities, though it still leaves me a tad disappointed because I wanted to role-play out of town while playing.
I want RP to add to my gameplay experience, not the opposite.
Ah well, maybe we’ll get a official RP server someday! Or the RP population of TC will grow.
Only way to get that kind of fix, Vyniea is to actually join an RP Guild. Most of them have ongoing storylines for each of their characters as well Guild plots and storylines to align to. There are several advertising on TC in the Guild Threads

Not technically botting as there is no outside program…just mob camping. Prob has his pet max specc’d and is letting it kill over and over as it levels his/her toon while they go do something else. Seen this behavior numerous times in other games.
I don’t know what Arena Net’s rules are on this. But I don’t care for it either.

I like the eagle and owl as they are extremely fast to return when called. The spider is really useful though. But its…. a spider…for pete’s sake. Hate spiders.
Put some points into your pet and it won’t die every time you turn around. Add in a couple skills. I love “Rampage as One”…no matter what is in front of you when you throw that one..its dead.

We ran Ascalon with 2 Rangers, 2 Ele’s and a Mesmer. Died quite a bit until we started really working together. Rangers sharing heals for the Ele’s who worked at doing as much dmg as possible. Everyone using root and mud to slow down the mobs.. ranger buffing their pets. Dodging, moving, evading etc..oh..also, the rangers changed their weapons to be able to switch from longbow to shortbow instead of melee…cause a ranger melee-ing with an ascalon captain is useless, lol.
But we had stop, talk and change attributes for each boss as needed. Was pretty eye opening coming from a game before where agro control and dedicated heals were just taken for granted.
Great fun, btw…figuring all that stuff out.
I like it.
Didn’t know about the boulder thing though…so thats handy. Will use next time.

Tarnished Coast…but, you know that Jayne, lol.
Love RP (official or un-official) servers in any game. Even though its been a couple of years since I was involved in an RP Guild, I still like the maturity and community that an active RP element brings to any server.

I have 5 toons and only one over level 40. The rest under 20. Just taking my time, working through the personal stories, crafting, harvesting and questing. And I still need to roll a Necro, Engineer and Elementalist somewhere down the line. I can easily see me playing this game for at least a couple of years.
But I work full time also, so my time is limited. But no matter what games I’ve ever played. The journey to end game was a heck of lot more fun than any end game in any game.
Raf
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
Pair up with Ranger or Guardian. Either is a nice addition to letting an Ele do max dmg in glass cannon mode.
Raf
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
Guardian is about as close to a class like that as you’ll find on GW2. But not a true healer as much as a utility class. Mesmer with a 2H staff is strikingly handy on the utility end also…just figured that out yesterday on a new mesmer.

Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
I played all day yesterday and rezzed my pet numerous times??? But maybe I’m doing it after the battle…can’t remember..but def don’t remember having any problems rezzzing.
But from an RP standpoint, why not let it be known that you have 2 pets with all the time…one scouting ahead, one by your side. You could work the change overs into the RP in a lot of ways.

Sooner or later some bright person is going to come up with a tool that will let you do that. Only a matter of time IMO. Every game usually ends up with some outside player/programmer who want make one.

Its not simply a matter of " he said/she said ". All conversations are logged and can be reviewed. I suspect the guy who was supposedly banned for 9 days knows exactly what he said…guess what? Arena Net does too.
Its really simple…if you want to talk like that , get a voice server and then you can say whatever you want.
Raf
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
Longsword / Mainhand – Axe /offhand – Rifle / ranged is what I use….
The axe in the offhand gives you a spinning attack aoe and a dual blade strike. The Longsword gives you a ground covering leaping strike.
Plus I like the Berserker feel of a dual wielding warrior
Raf
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
One thing to consider about discovery mode though…early on. If you are trying to craft a level 10 item. Just craft it. If you craft it through Discovery it turns it into a pretty nice level 15 item, lol…nice, but useless to your up and coming level 10 toon.
Normally not a problem unless you’re short on mats.
Raf
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
Its just an option. You don’t have to use it. Neither do you have to recruit players that are members of other guilds either…if it really bothers you that much.
Raf
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
I use and have both….different tools for different jobs / mobs. Though I tend towards shortbow about 70% of the time.
But I keep other weapons in my pack all the time depending on the mobs.
Raf
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
I use my ranged as much as possible…especially the short bow with its 2 aoe attacks…the bomb and the gas cannister. Then I use the bow to whittle away life on the mobs before jumping in to melee with dual daggers. Also..use your steal ability! I also trait for any kind of shadow step
I’m only level 12 on that toon, but am having a good time on it…its a challenging class to play no doubt.
But..its a Thief….sometimes tactics work, sometimes you die.
Raf
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
Go somewhere a few levels higher than you are. With a Thief, you’ll need to be more careful than with other classes though. Use you ranged as much as possible and use your melee for finishing. Join in with large groups for DE’s using those tactics.
Of course, as Washed said above…there is crafting and harvesting also. Both will give xp.
Raf
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
I kind of like the current game. Didn’t think I would, but after no end of flying mounts and super fast ground mounts that basically let you miss most of the game? Legging it across the plains, barely faster than some mobs is a lot of fun. And then there is the portal systems too.
Who needs a mount?
Raf
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
Thats nice to know. I’ve noticed this, but just figured is was a random bad luck type of thing. I’ll keep moving from area to area from now on as I harvest.
Raf
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
I dunno about that. There are a ton of Norns where I play. Might depend on which server you’re on too.
Least played class? I’d guess necros. I see some around. You can’t miss them…all trailing that army of minions. But not many.
Raf
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
I’d prefer it to never show up. That function really gets abused by multi boxers….and powerlevelers.
Raf
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
Not sure I could have revived “Buttmuncher” either, Finny.
But, yeah…except if reviving is going to get too many killed in a heated battle. Seen that happen quit a bit if your are fighting with a smaller group than normal. Someone has to keep up the fight….everyone can’t revive, lol.
Raf
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
Depends on what you feel like at the time Mad….do you feel like helping folks out or meleeing like crazy. Make one of each.
For what its worth…though, speaking of warriors
I like dual wielding on my warrior, personally. Longsword in main hand for a leaping attack & 2 other strikes. Then a dual weapon strike and moving whirlwind axe aoe in the offhand tabs.
For ranged I use a rifle….shoot everything you’ve got, then use the rifle butt to knock em back and get a couple more shots off before going blades for close in work.

Guardian take a bit more forethought when playing, I think. Warriors are just plain fun as a melee class. But to get the most out of a Guardian, you need to think about how to benefit the group or even others just around you as well as fight.
If you ever played a Healer/Shaman in other games, then the Guardian is as close to those classes as GW2 has allowed.
I suggest you make one of each…thats what I did, lol.
Raf
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
It would be nice if all classes could wear anything the crafters could make in town only. There could be a thriving economy in town clothes sales, lol.

I don’t understand why its such a problem to re-spec before a storyline instance (or any situation for that matter). I think that is the key to a lot of them. If I fail a couple of times in one spec, I’ll try another.
It works a lot of times. Other times, I’ll just go back to playing and get a couple of levels until I can complete it. I like the fact that just because you show up, you don’t always get to win…it adds depth.
If none of that works…then I get some help from guildies,
