Heck, with any class in that area ( soloing a warrior thru there myself) ..especially with the way the dredge spawn and swarm a solo player( 2 of them beating on you while a 3rd shoots you from a distance?)…I think a group would be far better.
Though, in my case…part of my problems are that I’m level 44 and the mobs are 48-49. Can handle them on on one….but much more than that and I’m dead over and over. Very challenging though.

Open World PvP never works though. Never. Not using any ruleset. Except for a very small market segment.
Show me a wildly successful open world pvp game?

Hated GW1 myself. Never could get into that game. Just felt closed in. Guess it just shows that its different strokes for different folks.
And Point & Click movement…..just “Ugh”.

EQ2 had a nice system. You wore your fighting armor all the time but had “appearance” slots on the character page that let your character wear whatever they wanted as long as the armor class wasn’t above thier normal one.
So, in the case of medium armor (re: leather) your toon could wear leather pants & boots but have access to clothie tops.
While clothie / casters were pretty much relegated to cloth only by that system, heavy armor wearers could access the everything.
From an RP standpoint it was pretty cool as you could have a…paladin for example…and all the skills / armor that go with that class but you would appear as a down n out sellsword in a mix of leather, cloth, swords, rapiers or even daggers.
Sure would be nice to see them implement something along those lines.

Level scaling is a great mechanic. I would hate to see them do away with it. Not that I think it will ever happen. Just saying.

I was kidding, Leiloni.
TERA is the playground for so called “hardcore” that avoid anything even remotely resembling a fair fight in favor of non-stop ganking of low level toons. That said, it is open world PvP.
And, technically, GW2 is not.

No….I didn’t learn anything about myself. Never expected to. Its only a game. Another time sink for anyone with a bit free time. Not unlike, though vastly superior, IMO to television.
I’ll leave philosophical revelations to RL…where they belong.
With a response like that, I don’t think you actually watched the video or understand the topic tbh =/
I answered your question…
“….~ After all the “fuss” about GW2.. have you learned anything about yourself as a player and what you want from an MMO?….”
I don’t have time to watch every silly video link posted by gamers to lazy to write what they would like to say.

Its increasingly funny to read the posts by those who have quit the class and those who have learned the class and maxed it in spite of the bugs.
I liken the Necro to the Engineer. You just gotta figure out what works best. And level in spite of whats not working all that well. Somewhere in there is a build and playstyle to do that..if you’ve got what it takes to stick it out.
I love classes that take some thought.
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
The warrior can use almost all the weapons outside of pistol and shortbow. I carry all of them and doubles of some for dual wielding. Don’t short yourself on weapons. There is a use for all for all of them.
My faves are dual axes and axe / shield though. Mostly just like the combat animations of those.
Would really like to see them bring on a Great Axe.

So you are saying that once you clear all the maps, you can never go back? Of course not, that would be repeating.
Far better to hang around Cursed Shore and endlessly farm Shelter and Penitent.
As far as rewards? Define a good reward. I mean other than just knowing that you’ve accomplished it. Which, one might argue is far more real than some digital goodie.

But “level scaling” should have done away with "Endgame"mentality. Except that the endgame concept is so ingrained on so many players that the idea of playing anywhere on the map with their level 80 toon(and still find challenge) is not even considered.
I love the concept personally. But its become apparent that a large population of gamers can’t seem to step outside that particular box.
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
None of the classes are so bugged as to be un-playable. I have play one of each and all have disadvantages and advantages compared to each other. I don’t expect parity in all the classes.
The challenge is to learn to play each class in spite of its disadvantages. Its not up to the game to make us all equal. At some point, some of that repsonsibility lies with us.
The real question is…are you having fun or have you turned your game into a job?
… you do realize the bugs people are upset with are traits and skill not preforming as the state they should. While there is a bit of debate on the reltive balance of classes, the vast majority of complaints stem from Anet failing to live up to modern MMO standards of technical quality.
I disagree with most of the complaining and stand by my statement that none of the classes are unplayable. In fact, all of them are still a lot of fun. And I can solo any of them to 80 in spite of the bugs.
I figure ANet will get around to fixing things eventually. In the meantime, I refuse to let this minor bs get in the way of my fun.
Its probably easier to lay blame on a class bug than it is to admit that you really don’t play the class all that well.

How about “Woof Bonespur”….?
That was the name of my last & final Charr…who lasted to level 3 before being deleted. Mostly because I simply hate running on all fours. So, no Charrs for me, lol.

@ Mulch…..
That sense of being forced to “group” if you wanted to get certain things done is what has driven so many of certain players to this game. And also created the “clash” of philosophies as the pro-groupers and anti-groupers try to get their words and wants into the ears of ANet
GW2 seems almost targeted (market-wise) to those that never liked raiding (or grew to hate it) or grouping in general.
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
People can still leave the game without a monthly subscription. If it is for now and will come back later when theres more things to do, is a different question though.
But in most cases mmos only get one chance nowadays
In any new game, there is “always” an initial surge of players. Then a leveling out of populations as content locusts swarm to the next new n’ shiny. But all good games will have a core of players that hang….for years even.
And GW2 is a darn good game.
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
It really doesn’t matter what all other games have been going. GW2 decided against carrots. I really hope they stick to their ideals on this. Its a refreshing change. Now there really is a choice out in MMO world.
Carrot or No Carrot.
Take your pick.
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
So reportable, but not necessarily punishable. Judgment call on ANet’s part then. I would wager there would have to be some sort of text verbal abuse prior to or during the dungeon run to make it punishable. And I agree in that context that it probably ought to be.
I don’t agree, however, that any/all players should have the ability to breeze through a dungeon while everyone else is fighting their kittens off…just because of some sort un-defineable rule about group make-up and mgmt.
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon

Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
Play both and decide for yourself.
Both are fun for different reasons. And neither class, no matter what you read here, is so bugged that they are un-playable.
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
Hmmm….didn’t know that. So, hypothetically, you pick up a player? Nobody knows him/her..but into the dungeon, you find they are dragging the group down. What now? Keep playing with someone who isn’t listening or trying?
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
Engineers are just different. It takes a certain mindset, I think, to play AND enjoy playing an engineer. Never gonna be tops in dps…but certainly right up there in just plain fun. In my opinion anyway
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
If a guild has the majority of players in that group with only a couple of pick-ups? Technically, its their group to do what they want with. Not saying I’d have handled it the same way…but I might have. Depends on the circumstances.
But it sounds like to me that they had an incoming guild member and they decided to kick the pick-up that was contributing the least.
But I don’t think its a reportable offense.

The thing is that many leaders expect is that their guild is growing fast to where they want them, many thing “if i once get this number, everything gets rolling”, which is a big mistake.
I have a small guild aswell, 7 active people. Well, 4 of us been playing mmos together already for a long time so we made that guild and had a fine core already.
We dont just recruit anybody, and well, kick people quite fast when we realize they are not really active or interested. the people that joined us and stayed, are active on chat and even voice chat.
We dont hurry to grow, if we find people that want to come along with us they are invited of course, but we have no rush on that.
Same for us. Some of us have been playing together through several games. Some we met on the forums of the last game we all played. But when we recruit, we never advertise. We meet people in game and invite after a bit. Or I’ll run across someone here on the forums that that looks like they might fit our bunch.
That said, OP, you might spring for a vent or TS3…they are pretty inexpensive these days. Not everyone will use it, but its there and really handy for dungeon crawls. Even if someone’s home situaton won’t allow them to talk, they can listen to instruction. Plus there is the social side of being able to talk and joke around while you’re questing anywhere in the game.

LFG, as I understand it, goes agains the very ideals that ANet has been talking about for the last 5 years. Its an incredibly exclusive game mechanic.

Cape/Banner/Cloth Clipping and YOU! Lets brainstorm ideas about how to solve an issue which has plagued video games for years.

Long hair clips shields pretty regularly here. Male or Female. I just don’t run with a shield unless I just absolutely feel I need one…like when fighting mobs several levels above mine.
But, all in all…clipping is a pretty minor issue with me. All games have it to some degree.

Since Jade Quarry is now the de facto leader in WvW, seems like entire guilds are transferring there to hang on coattails of JQ’s success.
It appears that being number one in WvW is a dubious honor. Especially if you’ve been on that server from day one.
I have the same mixed feelings. I cheer TC on in their WvW exploits, but I kind of dread the day they ever win the number one spot.

I like both classes, but I dual wield axes on my warrior or switch to axe / shield depending on the mobs. Dual axes is a ton of fun…love the “clank” sound eviscerate makes when it hits, lol.

Sure, you can solo this game. But, if you want to make friends you need:
1) To be outgoing and friendly yourself…willing to talk to people.
2) To join a friendly guild and get to know people that way
3) To play with RL friends in game
If you aren’t feeling the love, are you doing anything to encourage others to play/talk/like you?
GW2 has a great community. At least on TC. But it still goes both ways. Are you as friendly as you want others to be to you?
