Don’t care for the Charr myself….running on all fours just feels too uncoordinated and clumsy. To each their own though. Come to think of it though, I guess I don’t play anything other than Norns or Humans.

I think EQ2 has literally the best Guild Halls and personal Homes in terms of being able to manipulate the environment in those instances. From making furniture to manipulating the the placement of odd items to emulate housing items, steps, walls, curtains etc..
Sure would like to see ANet come up with some sort of system like that. Its F2P over there ANet…sign on and take a look around

Someone posted on one of the threads earlier that you can open your “Hero” tab and go to the Mists (pvp area). From there on the east side is the PvP Lockers. From the lockers, you preview every armor / weapon set in the game on any of toons you take there.

I’m 55 and my wife is…ummmm, well never mind.
Well, we both love this game
Added on: Only played WoW for the 2 week intro. Game was ok, though the graphics were a bit too cartoonish for my tastes. Abhorred the community.

See what you are doing OP it’s fairly obvious
.
If gw1 worked, gw2 will work aswell. No worries, i usually don’t care what other people say, i’m afterall strong not weak Cough.
It’s very rare that a game dies, look around you so many games that have been “dead” since release and yet are still here. Why bother to speculate, you have no idea what will happen next week let alone a few years from now. But gw1 has been with us for 7 years, and gw2 with its hype and amazing gameplay/PvP it will be with us for atleast 10 years, why not you know.. just go with it.
Speculate all you want, but if gw1 managed gw2 will manage… Since most people like this game i see nothing to be worried about.
That is where you are so totally wrong. Most people don’t like this game. Most people actually find this game boring and have left. Hence the title of the thread, Welcome to the Minority.
Out of 2 million copies sold…define “most”. Thats a pretty big claim. Show your sources and numbers.
Even if you’ve left the game? By paying the cost to come try it out, ANet has gotten the equivalent of 4 months + of subscriptions out of you. Not a bad take in and of itself.

My guild has an average age of 28 or 29 now, and it’s been going up (both our population and our average player age) since launch. The older people love the game and remain, the younger ones tend to move on to games more fitting to their interests. No one game is for everybody.
If my fellow older men and women are the minority, I welcome it.
This is very interesting data. I’ll do a quick survey on my guild about this.
Same for my guild also. Most of us are in our late 30’s to mid 50’s. The few younger ones have moved on to other games.

It took some getting used to, but I like it now. Sometimes, you can recover and save yourself portal fees and repair fees you’d have otherwise incurred.

If I’m using a shield at all, its with an axe. Usually run with dual axes though coupled with stacked toughness, like Sef describes above. Rarely even need to heal except from Boss frontals and the like.

Forums in ANY game are ALWAYS literal quagmires of negativity. Just respond to what appeals to you and remember where you are.
And keep in mind that 98% of the people playing this game could give a kitten about what is said here.

Played a quirky little MMO lite game called Earth Eternal. Loved that darn game. Anthropomorphic characters and tongue-in-cheek sense of humor that pervaded the entire game. Played it throughout the never ending Beta only to have it go belly up.
After that, played Allods, Runes of Magic, DDO…then eventually EQ2 where we stayed for over 3 years before moving to TERA. TERA didn’t last long, however, and we moved back to EQ2. But, I’ve done it all in EQ2. Over and over. 17 toons, done the raiding thing, but running the same end game dungeons and instances over and over for that one super item just isn’t my style. Exploring is my thing and here is a whole new world to explore.
I’d been following GW2 as the next game to try. I purchased it with every intention of playing it and EQ2. But since the game rolled out, I haven’t had the least desire to play EQ2. Too much to do, too much to explore…in my limited game time .
I’ll be here for years.

I just started an ele this weekend and I’m really enjoying it. I rarely play casters in any game, but this class is a lot of fun. Though it takes a awhile to open up all the weapon / weapon combos since you have to do it four times each for each element.
But…I probably wouldn’t have stayed with the ele if it had been my first toon. It was my 6th toon and I was pretty ccomfortable with the game mechanics by then.
Ele’s are a bit squishy compared…well, to most anything else.

What game are you playing? With axe/warhorn equipped, my ranger runs thru Orr with no issues. Weapon switch for another speed buff…then rampage as one for the next buff…back to warhorn.
Nothing even comes close to me. All the classes have some sort of run speed buff mix.

I could link multiple threads from the EQ2 Forums griping about this very subject, except ANet would probably delete it since its info from another game.
That said…this issue comes up in almost every game that supports the 2 playstyles. I think it stems from the purely practical ( or even financial) of having to maintain 2 different rulebooks…or even 3 cause if they did it for pvp, they’d have to do it for WvW.
I suspect that you’re just gonna have to deal with it.

I have no problem with that, Av. Altaholic that I am, I’m always saving nice gear picked up by another toon for another alt. Bank is full of stuff for upcoming alts or for sale later if the alt finds something better.
But I don’t set out to grind gear for one alt with a higher alt. If it happens, fine…but its only in course of normal gameplay.

It ain’t all about dps. Its about the challenge of playing difficult classes regardless of inequalities.
Parity in video games is as boring as parity in football.

I play ranger, guardian, warrior, thief and engineer. I have no problems with “balance” in any of them. All of them have their advantages and disadvantages. Its up to me to learn how to spec and play those classes.
I don’t expect the “game” to do that for me, nor will I get upset over some inconsequential nerf that barely affects the total gameplay of any class.

You folks are better off without em then. If they cut n’ ran from DB, they’ll likely do the same elsewhere when that server has a bad day. The chickenkittens (gawd…I love this filter)
Bout time ANet starts charging for server transfers, I think…say….25 bucks per account / 1 xfer per month allowed. Except for new players who should get 2 free xfers to use within 2 weeks…..that sound fair?

Raises hand
I don’t get too worked up by much involving games. If something gets changed, I adapt like a rational, sane person. Some changes get me excited, but those that don’t, don’t even affect me in the slightest.
For example: The invisibility bug in WvW. Annoying? Sure. However, I still continued to play be either A: Relogging to fix it, or B: Made use of tab targetting and spammed abilities. lol
I’m sorry, but I believe that those that freak out or froth from the mouth over stupid things such as video game changes have more problems than they care to admit.
The only time I lose my cool is on the forums, when I see people making ignorant and truly crude remarks. Then i tend to go into ’It’s on’ mode. :P
Yeah…this is me also. Its just a game. I get wayy more worked up forum-wise than I ever do in game about anything.

Having to spend time to organize a party is one of the things Anet tried (and partially succeeded) to solve by DEs and Hearts instead of traditional questing.
I certainly hope having to organize a party to do DE’s won’t become the norm.
I’d just go it alone and hope someone showed up to help, personally. Its not like you’re going to lose anything by trying. And someone almost always shows up…at least on TC anyway.
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
I’m rather liking the thinning down of population. Makes the contests for DE’s , Veteran’s etc…all that more interesting and exciting. Depending on your class (and build)…you can solo some of those veterans too if you are at level or even a bit below
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
I could deal with it. Probably make the game seem larger. There really are too many in some zones. SoD comes to mind.

I’m always broke. If I’m not spending it on crafting mats, I’m buying rare upgrades to armor or weapons. Sometimes, I’ve been so broke, I can’t even portal back my last waypoint.
So, time to hit the road. Just like RL, when times get tough…tough it out. Play the game, sell mats, pick-ups, run everywhere…forget waypoints. ((shrug))
Its less about money being hard to come by…the gripe seems to be that you can’t get rich quick, lol.

Once an MMO releases it has a very small window to capture fans (GW2 has been very successful) now it must keep them.
The price to play is about 4 months worth of a regular sub. So they got you for that even if you do leave. And its still plenty of time to address problems.

Agree. I solo my way through different areas harvesting as I go, coming up on the occasional duo or small group fighting their tails off against a veteran mob or so…jump right in and help…rez..whatever. Everyone says.."Hey, thanks…and go on my way again or hang with the group for awhile. Whatever.
Just feels right though. Like taking a few minutes actually contributed something. I’m liking the lesser population right now. Or perhaps, the more spread out population.

Ranger, Engineer, Guardian, Warrior, Thief…..but kind of a toss-up for the Ranger / Engineer for first place. I can solo 5 levels above mine with my Ranger, but Engineers are just fun to play…especially in a group. Almost lets me play a Healer again, lol.
Ok….deleted the Thief for an Elementalist…my new favorite, I think.

How are you liking the game?
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
Creating is only half the job too. Keeping one up and going on a daily basis takes a heap of effort.
We never advertise for players. We meet them in game, play together, chat and if we all like each other ask if they are interested in joining. Or I meet them here in the forums…and get a conversation going about what they want and what we have.
I think you are really asking for trouble taking in anyone that comes along. Speaking from past experience. Running a guild can take the fun out of a game sometimes. Its just kitten amazing how adults can regress to childhood in the middle of a big guild argument.
If I could offer you a single piece of advice….Only have 1 Guild Leader (yourself)

Almost every class has a group or directed heal. If you’ve ever played Healer in other games, its second nature to keep an eye on team mates health bars. Everyone can heal themselves and each other if you’re playing as team.
When we’re grouped, in voice and someone’s heal is down, they’ll just ask if anyone has a heal up. Someone will speak up, and we’ll try to move towards each other. It works nicely. Also helps to have an engie in group to randomly drop medkits, potions and that can lob an elixir towards someone…decent class for healing others..if not technically a heal class.
