Does prolonged exposure to Agent Orange add a chromosome?
Military history, real world wisdom, and the ever-so-popular “If I can’t figure it out then it must be broken” attitude makes this a fine post to troll.
Thanks for the laughs, OP.

Same here…grenades, rifle, EGun…with static build. Though thanks to Tank Cat…I do so love that honkin prybar. Just wish it would load instantly, lol.

The engineer is an extremely playable and enjoyable class. Made even more so by taking the attitude of “How do I make this work” in spite of all that might be going wrong.
Not unlike an Engineer in RL.
No its not. A real Engineer doesn’t have to cut corners just to be on par with other professions.
A real engineer can make something work in a pinch. Until time and money allows for a real fix. Paperwork engineers twiddle their thumbs during downtime cause the books say it “can’t” be done this way.
What kind of engineer are you?

I don’t think the quality of the game has gone downhill. There is still plenty to do if…you you put aside soloing for a bit. Don’t get me wrong, I love to solo. But, I also have fun grouping with the guild at times.
Just last Saturday, we had a group of low level alts in Diessa . It was great fun. No dungeons, no fractals, no pressure…just goofing off in open world doing hearts and DE’s.
The thing is…it seems that what is changing is the quantity of un-guilded players willing to to pug. And this seems to be the gist of the main gripes. The lack of people willing to join a pug. I don’t blame them, actually…I’ll solo the rest of my life before joining a group of strangers.
Find yourselves a good guild. Make some friends and group with them….sometimes. Then solo the rest of the time if you feel like it.

+1 to Selan.
There are a lot of people who simply don’t understand the dynamics of world vs world. I find it frustrating as well and my replies to some of the questions really depends on my mood at the moment. If I have just been rolled by a group of PINK for the 9th time of the evening, I will probably be a bit terse.
We do need to reach out to the puggers, or small guilds though and teach them to be an asset and not just someone who is making a good player wait in the queue.
For those GODS looking for a home, check out the Fort Aspenwood community site that is starting (PM me for the link…don’t want no stinkin spies!)
There is a listing of guilds that are coming together to build the community and you can find a home there. If you’re over 18 and have a good sense of humor and want to apply to one of the longest running guilds in online gaming, you can apply here: www.purpledragons.net.
Exactly…the server that can harness the power of the casual players and motivate / train them will dominate all tiers eventually. Rather than deriding their efforts….how about trying to show them by example and explain in team chat why you are doing what you are doing? Thats what seperates good commanders from bad commanders.
The number of people running around in cluelessly in all the maps is probably staggering.
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon

I get a toon to 80…then just leave it there and start working on another alt. One of these days, I suppose I’ll get around to totally maxing out a class. Maybe.
I’m preferring the journey to 80 on each class available rather than finding something to do at 80. Plus multiple alts keeps my mats sollection flush .

Anyone on TC worrying about GODS transferring should understand that we are going to restructure our guild. It will no longer be a gigantic guild that anyone can join. It will instead focus on having fewer more loyal members. We are not causing any queues seeing as how only 10 people transferred so far, lol. We are not bringing hundreds of people.
Also, GODS are not transferring because TC is winning. Any GODS members saying that was not there for the long discussion we had.
exactly!
You guys ponied up the same 60 or 70 bucks as everyone else to play this game. Giving you the right to go anywhere you want in GW2…just like everyone else.

Warrior….you might try dual wielding Sword / Axe. Good aoe axe attack on the 5th tab too. Its a nice combination.
I use dual axes on my warrior or axe / shield. Just like the animations and attacks better than GS.

I keep reading threads on “is this tanking build viable?” , “is this healing build viable?”
I run dungeons and when I see someone try to tank, after a few seconds the boss either locks on someone else or rofl stomps the would-be tank. After all of your cooldowns are wasted staying alive, are you really helping the group?
I know people can try to steer themselves in the direction of tank/heals, but do true tanks and healers exist? Do you think that by being a complete support build / heal build you are 100% helping the group? Shouldn’t you have some offensive capabilities and not just focus on your support cooldowns?
I grow weary of people saying they are a tank, because this game isn’t meant to have tanks.
I also understand that some fights prefer ranged, but when someone tells me to go ranged all the time on my thief, I get annoyed…the game isn’t meant for all ranged weapons. Shouldn’t I be able to run the dungeon the way I want, if I play it correctly?
Old habits die hard, apparently. Traiting to pure heal or tank always seems to always sacrifice something that actually helps a group.
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
I group all the time but find it largely useless. No one knows how to press T when I call a freaking target, and then people complain that mobs / dungeon mobs have too much HP. They really don’t imo. You can mow most of the mobs down by focusing on them. I can’t count how many times I’ve called out monks and people just ignore it completely, I’m one little thief chipping away. It makes a world of difference with a good leader, and good team mates.
I know you are talking about general open world but it also counts for Orr. You may be in a party, but people are still in the solo state of mind. They need to get out of that. The lack of trinity has only made this worse imo.
I don’t miss the Trinity at all. Best thing to ever happen to a game.

Been there done that. No difference as far as i can tell.
Don’t know what you are doing wrong then. We farmed CS a bit last night. My MF was only 26%. And there is a noticeable difference in loot if I forget to use my food (18%). Maybe you aren’t taggiing enough of the mob.

Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
I would not roll a Ranger.
Rangers are the most broken and unfinished class in the game, according to the developers. Half of their utility skills were removed in beta to be replaced/fixed but they ran out of time and put the broken and useless skills back in.
Also, the developers have outright LIED to the ranger community for over a month by promising a “big major” ranger update to fix all their utilities, and every patch it’s “we need more time for testing” or “we were worried there might be imbalances” followed by “it’ll come next patch.”
Yeah right.
Oh, get over it.
Ranger is still a good class, Op. My level 80 ranger could solo well above his level all the way through and is darn effective in WvW.
Engineer…..is a fun, clunky, frustrating class. Tons of different builds and my current favorite alt. Not an easy class to solo…at least until you start getting some trait points built up. IMO…most fun class so far…(I have one of each class)
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon

Orr isn’t that bad. My ranger in mixed rare, blue and green gear does just fine there…even if I have to haul out a GS and fight my way through in places
But I could see where it might be for some builds. No toughness, no vitality perhaps?
I buy gems from time to time…but only for transmute stones and an occasional salvage kit.

There is such a wide variance in game addictions that no single game will ever satisfy everyone. GW2 appears to be trying that, but I wonder sometimes if thats the right approach. I understand that they are attempting to garner as wide a market segment as possible.
But its naive to think that everyone is going to appreciate attempts to make it right for everyone.
They ought just choose a style that fits thier vision and go with it. And let the game sift out those who don’t like it.
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
So….rez, repair and run/swim back to where you were. What is the problem? It would be better if there was only one waypoint per zone anyway. Just put it in the middle of each zone.

There’s also the travel speed of the projectile.
The guardian scepter moves so slowly that if your target moves at all (not even dodge, just a step to the left or right), it will miss.
What? Since when? It tracked back in the beta, did they break it or something?
It still tracks as long as you have it targeted. Though you can move out of line of sight and lose the targeting.
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
I’ve only run 2 early dungeons since the betas (CM & Ascalon). Not my thing. But I manage to keep 5-10 Gold split between 8 characters by harvesting everything I run across then selling mats I either don’t need or are bringing a good price on the trading post. And by selling loot. Mostly by selling loot thru vendors or the TP.
Not getting rich, but I am maintaining.

First and most obvious one for engineers in WvW:
flamethrower #1 goes through doors.
If they have a ram on the other side, you can burn it with that.Another obvious one: perma swiftness from kits is golden. The ammount of running makes that one of the trait other professions hate you for.
I’ll post others perhaps, maybe more distinct, but just kicking of a nice topic idea
Now this never even occurred to me. Thanks for the tip.

Good grief…then go play another game for awhile. There is no sub here, so you can come back when your attitude is better. Or not…as you choose.
I will never understand the mindset of people that seem to just need to share their ennui in game forums.
Funny, that is where I thought you go to share your feelings “within reason”. We’re all building that perfect game in our heads and we all hope “the next game” is closer to that ideal. If not, we say why not, right or wrong.
I am one to agree, I thought this game was to be PvE to 80. WvWvW until next expansion. Some event diversions from time to time. At least in a general sense.
Different generations I suppose. Younger players (speaking in a generational sense here) seem feel the need to tell/share with everyone how bored they are in these games. I see it on all the forums in all the games.
I don’t really understand it either. I figure if I’m unhappy with a particular game, I’ll just leave and go play something else. Why go out of my way to spoil someone else’s experience?
Because thats what you people are doing. Spoiling some unsuspecting new person’s gaming experience by posting the kitten that ends up in these forums.
Like playing with a bunch of kitten spoiled kids….oh wait.

I see this a bit during the week, but not all the time. Weekends usually fills up the DE’s again. At least on Tarnished Coast anyway. Though that schedule does make sense given the relative maturity level of the server.
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
Roll an Elementalist…just be ready to die over and over. From your prerequisites….it sounds like the only class that fits your needs is a Ranger.
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
I have one of each class. I solo all of them using WASD…(never got the hang of the mouse thing and too old & hardheaded to give a kitten anyway). Mostly though, you need to realize that you can’t stand still and hack / cast away at things in this game like other games.
You can also dodge using WASD by double tapping those keys.
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
I’m suck on level 2 because everyone is well past me and it’s impossible to find a group.
I feel the need to remain on the edge of the power curve because I love to WvW.
If you had said PvP , I could maybe understand. But WvW is more about teamwork and the size of the zerg than any particular player having max stat gear. No matter what you tell yourself.
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
Absolutely. I’ll sure give them the gear back. I can buy MF yellows until I get the Ascended gear.
ANET has said that there will be a shallow power curve over the next year. As I’m stuck on Fractal lvl 2, I can’t even compete even if I wanted to.
Besides, any gear progression is not what I expected when I purchased this game, purchased my gems, and began playing. This is a material change that adversely influences my ability to enjoy the game. I don’t want to have to grind to stay ‘in the game’.
Thats all quite vague. Good Luck on getting refund based something as tenous as that though. Sounds like lawyer-speak for lets kitten the company.
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
I’m in the process of requesting a refund for the gems that I used to buy/upgrade my exotic gear that was done under the impression that there would be no grind.
“Our games aren’t about preparing to have fun, or about grinding for a future fun reward. Our games are designed to be fun from moment to moment.”
The best thing that they can do right now is to downgrade the Ascended gear to Exotic quality and release a new, good-faith update to take players’ minds off of this.
At best – this is going to divide the community and ruin the game. With Christmas coming up, new games are coming out – and if GW2 has this kind of division and controversy, I think it will go the way of the ToR.
So…just curious…are you going to turn your exotic gear back to ANet after they refund your gems? Thats what generally happens with refunds , you know.

Honestly…I still think the best looking heavy armor is the beginning mail set w/ leggings. I never wear a helmet or pauldrons on any toon, preferring a sleeker armor look.
Actually, I just hate “giant” pauldrons with a passion…but that aside, I’ve kept that early mail though several levels.
Raf Longshanks-80 Norn Guardian / 9 more alts of various lvls / Charter Member Altaholics Anon
Depends on your profession though. At those levels, clothies are still squishy. Same for leather. Heavy armor is more forgiving.
That said, be sure you are fighting at least within 2 or 3 levels of you own. Its pretty easy to slide into the next area that might be too high for your toon.
Hit the Trading Post for gear. A lot of the early stuff is pretty affordable as people are crafting to level. Use the gems slots.
