It really serves no real purpose because the small buffs they give aren’t really necessary enough to waste the coppers it costs.

The little boost in stats doesn’t do a whole lot. The only exception of course being MF food which is just epic.

Bullkitten….the buff gotten from just one omnom berry tart equals one of your best pieces of jewelry. It may only last 30 min, but its a dynamite buff. Other potion buffs are pretty cool too…undead slaying is a favorite in Orr.

Not opting to use these things is personal choice….but choosing to not use them because you think the don’t do anything is just ignorant.

I can’t really speak for your server, but Tarnished Coast is jam-packed with people. Try jumping to one of the busier servers.

Typical denial response. The game is horridly empty in every non-starter and non-end game zone… on EVERT server. And the game design depends on people. It’s failing on all fronts.

Typical sour grapes response also. TC / Human areas are packed with people during these holidays. Its been a lot of fun.

TC, being an RP server tends to be more mature than a lot of servers. Not saying that everyone RP’s either. Just that a lot of mature players flock to RP servers for the community.

With that maturity however, RL comes into play more often than not. I’ve hardly signed into WvW all week…and I’m on vacation this week. I doubt I’m the only one.

Maybe we’ll see a more normal population after the the first of the year.

I play both on lower level alts. But for PvE…I’ve never felt so OP on any profession as I do with a Necro. Mobs just fall before that class like wheat to a scythe. Once you learn a bit how to play it.

Scepter/dagger with Staff & Wells…no minions.

This is how said server would play out

1) 2000 people would jump on it, 1000 of them would make thieves and go to Lion’s Arch (assumed safe zone). Buy gems and level up to 80 in 4 hours doing crafting.

2) 500 of them would then scatter out to all the newbie zones and kill any level 1 that walks into the zone repeatedly giving new characters no chance to level.

3) Every subsequent new person would quit immediately, complain on these forums, and go back to their original server.

4) The servers population would be dead within 2 days of release.

LOL….thats pretty much the history of all such servers in a nutshell. Not unlike TERA right now.

I don’t think leveling is as fast as it was in the betas. But you level faster in this game that almost any game I’ve ever played. But a level 10 area on a level 6 “is” going to be brutal…go back to a lower level area is what I suggest.

At level 6, your armor and weapons are likely looted and you haven’t made enough coin to get something better off the TP.

I realize Anet must have done something to increase the cap or filtered it out or something, since the other week they all went from Full to Very High.

However, now they’re filling up again and I can’t get on the server my husband and Guild transferred to (which is Tarnished Coast). Neither can my sister-in-law.

Are these servers stuck at Full? Every time I look, it never moves from Full. Any Tarnished Coast members know what times I should be aiming for to camp the World Select screen?

Server status is based on the number of accounts tied to a server, not the number of players actively online. Even if Tarnished Coast was completely empty of players it would still read full. Shame Arenanet chose to lie about their subscriber numbers like that. : /

Not sure if serious or trolling. anet doesn’t have subscribers, and the server status do base on number of players online.

One of the community managers admitted to it being based on number of accounts. Denying the truth won’t change it. It’s probably all Arenanet can do to prevent NCsoft from shutting the game down after it failed.

Right there. Last post in the thread. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Arenanet is lieing to you, and the game is bleeding players at the throat. Arenanet needs to fix the wound somehow, and fix it fast, or this game will be shut down by February.

Thats the thing I’ve never understood. All these players so dissatisfied with a game that cost them a measly 60 bucks. Who have forgotten how to have fun in any game, much less this one. Its like they have this need to see an entire community or communities shut down just to vouchsafe their opinions.

The crowds in TC over these holidays are as large as when the game rolled out. The human area is just filled with peeps. Is been great fun re-running the vets and champions on low level alts.

I have all 8 classes. Sometimes I’ll delete one just to change races. Deleted a lvl 46 human warrior to change to a charr warrior (level 17 now). I’m on my 5th Thief incarnation.

Embrace your altaholic-ism. Its just how we play the game. One of these days I’ll have all 8 professions to 80. As to what I’ll do then…I dunno. The journey to endgame is what I like.

Engineer is my favorite class so far and 2nd lvl 80.

Level 80 Engineer here…solo’d except for joining DE’s where I found them. Most fun I’ve had leveling with any profession so far. Rifle / Static build, no kitten turrets. But so many ways to play a class…most challenging

Not yet. But I’m working on it completing all of them. With one toon or another.

There are no bugs on Rangers or Necros that make them totally unplayable. I play both with no problem whatsoever.

The Fractals to me are a joke as I don’t see any benefit doing them more than a few times as I get the impression its the same content except becoming more difficult and I cant be bothered with this “lfm fractal lvl so and so” so these things combined are again a turn off. I find it ironic in a game that has been designed to be level friendly so players can down level or up level in Fractals you must be at the correct level to progress meaning many players are not interested in doing lower level fractals and it can be a pain getting a party.

Just wait until the population peaks, and ArenaNet realizes they made the same fatal design flaw that MMORPG developers make game after game after game after game….

Yeah…like what happens to all those game no one plays anymore. And that have been around for years. Like WoW, EQ, EQ2, Aion, Runes of Magic, DDO, GW1. No one play those ol games anymore…right?

I may get a legendary one of these days. But why do I “HAVE” to have it right this very minute? I don’t. Maybe in a year when I have a ton of mats stored just by playing the game.

No, but you can easily define things that aren’t fun.

In an RPG, a genre which has and always will be heavily influence by loot, having insanely low drop chance loot and nerfing drop rates into the ground is the antithesis of fun.

GW2 has some of the worst loot of any RPG game, period.

I wouldn’t say “worst” but it’s certainly in line with some of the worst I’ve personally experienced.

If it had 16 Gb of RAM, it would be identical to my off the shelf Asus. And it runs this game just fine. Only time there is an issue might be zerg vs zerg in WvW…than can stress the graphics sometimes if both zergs are over 30 peeps each

Like everyone else said. You can’t judge a profession in 10 levels no matter where you take that toon…be it mists, wvw or pve.

No true skill?..compared to what? WoW perhaps? That takes skill? Smashing the same rotations over and over? This game is every bit as skilled as any mmo out there because in the end…all you are ever going to do is smash buttons for any strike in any game.

I have 8 toons. 2 lvl 80’s…one is an engineer, the other a ranger. And all the other professions mostly ranging from level 17-level 54.

I’ve made and deleted 6 thieves until this last one which I think captures what I’m looking for in that class (i.e. the small, wiry thief of the genre…though tbh..she is rather busty, I suppose…still, I like her) Thieves die a lot early on. Not because they are squishy…more, imo, because of the high learning curve of how they can be played.

I even deleted a lvl 46 human warrior in favor of a new Charr warrior. No problem…just a toon.

I solo all of them. But some classes….especially the engineer, thief and ele (at least until level 30+) are better in groups, I think.

The presumes alot about players…. specifically that they are playing the game in such a way that every minute playing is being directed towards gaining money. What if I’m ping-ponging around to see what events are up in certain maps? What if I’m trying to help a lower level buddy out? Why is my desire to move about and experience the open world as I wish overlayed with a cost/profit decision (and isn’t there a death tax already in the fact you have to repair when you die from not falling to your death)?

Then I’d suggest that player may need to learn to manage their money and/or gameplay better. Travel costs and budget mgmt are a reality in life. Why should it be such a stretch to expect that those costs wouldn’t be associated with an immersive MMO?

In any case, there are ways around the costs…just a couple of extra clicks away. Why is that so hard?

3D dimensional combat is challenging….Engineers are a god underwater. Ele’s aint bad either as long as you keep moving.

You chose 2 of the most difficult classes to play, imo. At least in starting out. Try a Ranger or Warrior for awhile until you get the feel of the game, then go back to your Engie & Ele.

Unlike other games, GW2 auto levels you to the level of the area you are playing in. The only thing you have over level 15’s is prob a little better armor and more choices for strikes…but, technically, you are level 15 in a level 15 zone

Keep moving, dodge…stay out of the champions frontal. Stay to the side / flank or behind. Move in pop your heavies, move out to ranged…whatever. Usually the boss will telegraph that big hit and you can react if you are paying attention.

As stated above, toughness & vitality for the long haul. Or glass cannon if you watch what you are doing all the time…and don’t my dying.

We have a slew of dedicated JP’ers in the guild. I have some lag on my connection and bunch of big toons (i.e charr & Norns) Not a great combo for successful JP. Smaller toons seem to work better for me.

Don’t really care for them in any case. But hey, lots of people love em. There is a little something for everybody in this game.

Not Tarnished Coast. It’s a popular server, but its the RP server. Decent community, very friendly. However, everyone is either in cities RPing or running fractals. Between those two, you don’t have many left to roam the wilds.

TC may be the unofficial RP Server, but you need to realize that even then…RP’ers are quite the minority compared to the normal population. All the designation is for is to let RP’ers know that there are other RP’ers on the server.

We always roll on RP servers. It does bring in a more mature player base. I’ve been on the server since the Beta’s. Its a good community.

I also have 8 toons running lvl 15 to lvl 80. So I’m all over the maps all the time. I see people all the time also. Its a NA server, so prime times are evenings and weekends.

Its a fantasy game. Magic makes up for a lack of armor and gives the certain classes the ability to battle in skimpy evening gowns.

LOL…my wife’s ele is pretty hot. She stepped away to help me with something for 10 min and got back to find multiple tells from some idiot griping about how much skin her toon was showing. Called her a “hussy”….we were laughing our kittens off.

Engineer is kind of an odd class, I think. Jack of all trades, yet Master of none is how I describe them. So many viable builds including support aspects.

From your description though, sounds to me like you are describing a Thief to the tee. Except for the fact that there are a lot of thieves in this game. I’ve not seen nearly as many engineers.

New open world content. The bigger the world, the better I can get lost in it.

Better try and transfer now if you are looking at it. Xmas Holidays are coming in the states. All schools including colleges will be off for 3-4 weeks. Liable to to get a little crazy in less than a week.

I have all 8 professions. I can’t really say which I like the best. Whatever one I’m playing, I guess. Honestly, each class has its own advantages and disadvantages.

But..hmmm…the engineer? Kind of a mixed up funky, jack of all trades, master of none class holds a special place in my GW2 heart right now.

I know the Grenadier Build is considered op dps, but I like the rifle. Just cause.

Joining a friendly, active Guild would go a long way to alleviating a lot of these problems.

On Charr’s though….jumping a quadruped is proving…interesting, anyway.

Although I’d likely only use fpv once in awhile for jumping, it’d be nice to have that option.

Other than the fact that GW2 is nothing like GW1 in even the slightest aspect and GW2 failed, they could have released 4 or 5 new campaigns for GW1 in that time and been a lot more successful.

Either that or they could’ve sold GW2 to Blizzard to make it WoW2. But I don’t think they’d take it.

They would never have sold 2 million copies if they had released a hundred new campaigns for GW1.
