At the very least, stealthed opponents ought to be able to see each other…or at least an outline of each other.

The shortest longsword I’ve found is the Krytan longsword. And even its almost too long. There is a shorter Greatsword also…but its lvl 39…the Aureate Highlander line.

Still looking for a rapier or slim, slightly curved saber. Haven’t found anything like that yet though.

New game, new players, new community. Its more than just the same GW1 community.

But the thing is, GW1 had..what?…6 or 7 years to shake out and grow their community. By then, as it matured, the only people who played were those that really liked the game.

The game had gotten past the the swarms of content locusts searching, fruitlessly, for the one new game that will make everything all better. Never realizing that its never a game that will do that.

In game…yeah, Tarnished Coast a pretty darn good community. Not so much on the forums, however.

I like playing solo. Means I don’t have to listen to more of stuff like this from other players.

Or wait on them…to do whatever. Thats the part of groups (and raiding) that I hate/hated the most. Always standing around waiting.

But here…I can join a group on the run, fight together for awhile, then go my own way if it suits me. or stay if we all get along.

Basically, yes…but you always need a weapon to pair with your warhorn. I find it kind of hilarious to be pairing my “in your face” melee weapon with the item that lets me run faster.

Necros are at their best when ranged.

My favorite zones are the boss events in Harathi Hinterlands, Sparkfly Fens near the where Teq spawns. There are about 3 rolling events there.

Mount Maelstrom…one of my favorite for avoiding DR. Just circle the mountain doing DE’s. By the time you get back to your starting point, you should be off DR again for that area.

Orr…Shelter / Pent / Jofast cycle of course.

Vary pale human w/ wraith mask. The mask makes for a good soulless eyes effect. I’ve kept it through 80 since I rolled the toon…transmuting as I go.

I wouldn’t give up any of those. All are too useful. Give up spite. I run 0-30-20-20-0 with all of those you just listed traited. No problems…no minions either…just wells n corruptions (swithc off on those depending on fight)

GS is prob the most dmg and I always have one on me. But I love the animation of Axe /Shield…or dual axes. And always have those on hand too just to change up game play from time to time.

I usually run with GreatHammer / Rifle though.

Nope…one of my mains is a Necro. Its a good class. A bit wonky as far as minions go, but I never used them anyway.

Non-instanced housing shouldn’t be a problem, if they use the existing buildings in some of the cities. Heck, in Divinity’s Reach alone there are well over 200 buildings that have no function other than to sit there. By the time you take into account every empty building in the entire game…

Or they could make each of those empty buildings a mini-instance and not only would there still be more than enough for everyone to have their own, you wouldn’t have to worry about someone getting the home you wanted before you got to it.

As for it not adding anything to the game, that’s a matter of opinion. You don’t like the idea or want your own in-game home? Fine, that’s okay. But don’t bash it; the rest of us are willing to sink the time and effort into getting one.

DR’s neighborhoods just scream for Player Housing. Something like that would make the city just come alive.

EQ2 has an extensive Guild Hall / Player home system. Every single Player and all their alts can have mutiple personal instances for homes and other projects…i.e private islands etc…

So, it can be done and not affect the general game play. Would love to see that sort of system here.

$25.00 seems like the going rate in a lot of games…so $20.00 isn’t all that bad.

I guess I have a bias against the non human races. Have tried Asura, Charr and Sylvari and deleted them all in favor of Norn & Human. Asura and Sylvari are just ugly….Charr are quadrupeds and that gait (running on all fours) bugs me.

EQ2 does this in a way. Its has slots that let you wear for appearance purposes only types of armor over you normal quest/ world armor. You can wear anything as an appearance peice that would have less armor stats than what you would normally have.

So a plate wearer could use leather and cloth. A leather wearer could use cloth…but clothies were just stuck in cloth, unofrtunately. And then there was TP like gear that any class could wear.

My heavy armored classes always ran around in appearance pieces of leather and mail. I just like the look better. But for gaming purposes, they were actually wearing their good gear w/ all its stats.

Wouldn’t mind seeing something like that here as I really don’t care for a lot of the heavy plate armor looks. I like some of the chain stuff though.

Heya, i really want to transfer over to Desolation because i wasn’t able to change before the patch. When i looked at how much it would be, it was 1800 gems, that’s around about £25. Or, i have been told, 40 gold, this has really made me feel like i’m stuck in the world i am in and it has now really annoyed me.

Necro over mesmer easily. Its not just bleed either…available conditions are, bleeding cripple, chill, weakness, vulnerability, blindness, fear & poison. All can be cast instantly and can be traited to be targeted aoe’s. Pretty quick CD’s using scepter/dagger & staff, also.

I play all the professions. I really can’t say that one class is superior to another in terms of support. If I were you, I just roll the profession that interested me the most and then look at support as an option while maintaining decent dmg.

Since all classes have some degree of self heal and de-buff…there really isn’t a real need for dedicated healing / support. Unless, thats just what you and your group wanna do.

Lesson learned: Mystic forge can get you rich sometimes or consumes all your hardwork. Learn when to stop. You don’t wanna get lose interest in this superb game after all. Like I said, I did this so you don’t have to.

I tried dual swords. Looked cool, but the could never find a sword skin that fit the look. All I wanted was a slight curve on the blade, lol. Still want that.

In any case, I went back to dual Krytan axes. Does way more dmg and I like the combat animation better also.

I rarely have more than 5 or 6 gold at any time spread between 9 toons. Hasn’t affected my game play or fun at all.

Baloney, by the time I hit 80 on my necro last week (3rd lvl 80), I had 25 pieces of ecto. You know, from breaking down the rares I was crafting, running around in Orr farming and just playing the game. Bought 5 more ectos…and a few other mats and crafted a full set of rampagers armor. Jewelry later…but everything is rare.

A set of exotic jewelry requires 25 globs of ectoplasm. That would cost 10 gold on the trading company, currently. Not everyone gets so lucky to see that many rares drop, and even if they do, there’s no guarantee you’ll get an ectoplasm. I’m curious to know how long it took you to grind out 25 ectos?

A set of armor requires 30 pieces. Took about 4 months though to get to 25. It ain’t a race. In any case, as you level up a tradeskill…you can break down the rares for ecto at about lvl 68 or, depending on the price of ecto (gotta check that each time)…you can sell the rare piece and buy a couple of pieces of ecto… sometimes.

Rare dagger & Greatswords sell pretty well these days as does any type of rare cloth armor for the caster classes.

That doesn’t include the pickups for farming in Frostgorge and Orr and salvaging the rares..or selling them. Whatever is more profitable.

If you are buying everything off the TP instead of harvesting, crafting and selling on the TP…then, yes..the prices you quote are more in line.

You should have been here when they threw the doors open OP. The first week and ahalf was pretty nice, actually…then the bullkitten started. There were so many moderated threads, the forum looked like a grey fungus had taken over.

What might make it even more interesting would be to reset the brackets to 4 servers.

Not in the least. But I don’t have hours on end to play any game. I have 3 lvl 80’s…so 5 more to go for all professions. 4 crafts left to master. Map completion? Not even close…though maybe 50% spread over 9 toons.

I’ll be here for a couple of years at least. And thats only if they don’t add new areas. I like the way the game is progressing.

Yeah, the giant weapons thing seems to permeate all MMO’s. Though TERA was the worst. And the main reason I quit that game. EQ2 had a nice line of sabers and rapiers. Perfect for thieves, scoundrels n’ general ne’er do wells.

The rare Aureate greatsword is the one I use mostly on my melee’ers here in GW2. Shorter than anything I’ve found so far even if the hilt is still overly large. Level 39 weapon though. I’ll check out the Ebonblade.

Then just quit and go do something else. You aren’t in the army?

Or level an alt and play it when blocking trebs becomes too boring.

I would really like to see some sort of weapon skin along the lines of a slim rapier or even a light cavalry saber. Something to pair with a small build characters. I’m using the Krytan sword right now. Even its just a bit too large. But its the best I can find…unless I’m missing something?

Necro was a cakewalk compared to the Enigneer. Mostly because of the Necro’s aoes and my decision to level the engie up using a rifle / static build.

I love this class. Clunky as it can be sometimes. Have all 8 professions and this is the one I prefer over them all for pve,groups, wvw and dungeons (yes, necros can contribute in a dungeon)

I’m not avoidiing it. It just never enters my thought processes when playing. Too many alts, too little spare time.

Maybe once I have all 8 professions to 80 and geared into exotics (3 lvl 80’s currently)….and all the tradeskills mastered? maybe then I’ll consider ascended.

Sure would. Have purchased numerous expansions on other games. Why not GW2? Its a solid game. Not without some problems…but overall, I really enjoy it. Have made a ton of new friends here.

I think OP is probably correct. For the most part anyway. A small % of peeps will use it, but I would venture that most of us either brought friends with us or made them on the server we’re playing on.

I was thinking you could only have 2 craft skills per toon? Is that not correct any longer? 2 crafts won’t get you to 80.

Given that the majority of gamers don’t read the forums, there is likely to be some very surprised and po’d parties in AC soon, lol.

Endless waves of bandits should make a decent farming spot at the very least.

On the other hand though, I had to waypoint after dying, was running back and got the update even though I missed the kill. Which was pretty cool since I had been fighting for a long time.

Maybe the system as it is just can’t filter participation, so it grabs anyone in range? I like it though.

I always end up deleting my alts and remaking them as Norn!! I wanted to love the Sylvari and the Asura, but I have deleted every single character and remade them as Norn.
