So just a thought I was having, if Mag is so convinced they are amazing I’d like to see at least 1 video of them wiping groups instead of them just talking. (I’d hope one person would at least be able to) I know we have a few in TV who are going to start recording all of our stuff mostly for our own benefit but all this “We wiped you X times and you never wiped us” talk just seems silly from what I’ve experienced so far seeing as I had 500+ kills on Saturday on an upleveled guardian with no elite and I’m already starting his 2nd stack of badges at level 29 I’m just tossing this up here in a hope to see some video’s by Mag and DB since it’s always nice to see the opposite side of the field yours truly a humble TC player.

its not hard to stack up on badges on an upleveled character when all u have to do is run with the zerg and steam roll any small group.

not saying u guys dont have any good players but hardly have i seen any tc roam around alone and if i do find 1, two or more tc would not be far behind.

Its WvW, not spvp. Small groups have thier place in PvP maps or in the lower WvW Tiers. WvW in T2 will always be about larger groups. If Maguma ever hits T2, you’ll figure that out pretty quickly.

In T3, we all sorts of small teams out and about. Used to do it quite a bit myself. But, TC had to adjust tactics to stay in T2. Now old habits are still there back in T3. But why would we want to re-train everyone in T3 tactics when we don’t want to be here for long?

Some of BG’s camp flipping teams were 15-20 strong.

first of all this is not t2 and mag does not have the population to hit t2 and if by some miracle we do, half the server will leave for another tier.

secondly, running around in large groups… thats a new tactic i never heard of.

thirdly, im simply responding to Doncare that if he is going to trash talk about how his uplvled guardian can spam 1 in zergballs and farm badges

lastly, TC cannot deny that you outnumber both DB and Mag 90% of the time with the exception of NNK O’Clock (7am-11/12am EST)

Except we never gave up cause we were outnumbered. We had good fun with BG & KN in spite of being outmanned. This could be that kind of match too if Maguma would give it chance.

Many PvE players do not care for PvP. That’s why they are exclusively playing PvE. It’s something that you will never be able to change.

Thats a heck of an assumption. I went for 6 months without ever stepping into WvW. PvE player all the way even though guildies would try to get me in. Finally, I gave in to them cause the needed another warm body for a camp flipping group.

And I died..over and over. You’d think that would be enough to make you never step foot in it again. But there is a certain tension and underlying excitement in WvW that you can’t find in PvE.

I suspect there are other folks out there that would enjoy it if they just gave it a chance.

That’s not quite what happened. We never had any large-scale influx of guilds heading our way, at least none that were even remotely comparable to what other high-tier servers got. I can recall only a handful of guilds ever transferring to TC, really. We -do- have a glaring hole in coverage that kept us from being a real contender in T2, which we tried to fill via that recruitment posting, but that was all. TC is a lot of things, but it’s really not a bandwagon server.

Yep…DB found that hole this weekend too, lol. I ported into TCBL early Saturday morning and found myself awash in blue.

That said, yeah we tried to recruit. But never got the huge influx of entire guilds. With a couple of exceptions. Most of our recruits come in one or two at time.

You could say the same about T3 and T4… This past week was boring, at least for me, I’d much rather lose in T3 than win in T4, the fights are better

Looking at the Tier scores throughout, could prob say the same about all the Tiers. Doesn’t seem to be a match-up anywhere with parity. Top of T3 had grown boring for us too…..T2 was exciting (for me anyway) even if we were outmanned by BG & KA every single day.

But, there was no way maintain score against a couple of super servers while FA rickrolled everything in T3. Overall score-wise…FA/TC are/were not that far apart.

No biggie though….looking forward to this match too.

So… Let’s get this out of the way early… You dropped down from T2 where you’ve been sitting for a long time holding out against the likes of FA and Kaening. During the course of that time we were regularly smacked around be DB and either FA and the big K. So, no… no matter how much gloss you put on it, we’re not going to underestimate you. We already expect to get bounced right back down to T4 to give those poor fellows a hard time, so, yeah… try a different tactic.

FA has never “smacked” TC around.

I run across RP Guilds everywhere. Kessex down by the lakeside town where the Krait attack. The Huntsman tavern in Queensland. The cliffside bar in LA on weekends. There are several taverns in DR in the various neighborhoods where I see RP happening. Rurikton come to mind of late.

In Hoelbrak, there is usually something happening at hot springs and in the various lodges.

Its really tough to go back to the old game too. I last for 20 min tops before the cartoonish art style of a game I played for 4 years starts to bug me and I come back to GW2.

Wouldn’t TC rather stay in T2 on their own accomplishments, rather then be assisted by there current match enemy?

I realize that FA thinks everything is about them, but there’s no grand conspiracy to keep them out of T2, no matter what the people posting on your community forums seem to think. Even if that’s the case, maybe it’s a sign that portraying yourselves as a bunch of wannabe “serial killers” and belittling the servers and guilds (except the ones you’re courting to transfer over) you’re competing against isn’t having quite the effect you want to have.

Then you all shouldn’t be saying DB and YB are throwing away the match. YB has had a low score since day 1 of this week. I’m not sure about DB, however, but the people I know on DB are not throwing the match either. No, we don’t think everything is about us – its just if you’re gonna say crap about our matchup, expect people from our matchup to say crap about this matchup.

Look forward to the possible fights next week Kain (and SoS – not sure if you’re lurking). Good luck BG in tier 1 – give them a run for their money! Good luck in tier 3 TC – sorry you have to drop a tier, but that’s what happens in ranked pvp. Be careful of Mag’s flame ram lord.

Dailies are simply an option. Play them if you want to, but they are not required. I don’t bother with em’ myself. If they happen while I’m just playing, then cool. Never chase them though.

I thought the Engineer was the most fun leveling up. Its a difficult class though and not for everyone as its a bit buggy. Same for Necro…my other buggy class and one of the most fun.

But I enjoy making them work in spite of all the naysaying about those professions.

Rangers are another forum maligned class. But your pets require active mgmt to get the most out of them. I use a ranger for map exploration, harvesting and sometimes wvw.

Catch up to what? You can do anything in exotics that you can do with all of that. The stat difference is minimal.

I’m pretty sure ANet said that other people would be able to help out any guild’s mission. I’m assuming that means you’ll be able to fill your large group needs from the general public.

Not unlike LFG right now…except with better payoff. And a chance to meet new folks?

How about you give it chance before spouting off about what it “might” mean? No one really knows at this point.

T8 is no different than any other Tier. Almost all of them have 1 Server domination. I’d suggest to any server on the bottom of any tier to just play and have good time.

Everyone in game has access to a large guild somewhere with the ability to multi-guild. And where everyone shares loot, I really don’t see it as being an all encompassing issue.

Actually, I can see this issue driving the multi-guild system even further as we progress.

They’ll likely be facing a depleted SoS rather than BG, though. How the tiers shape out after that will depend on how the current SoS is. T2 could look like KN/SoS/FA for awhile while SoS loses some rating, and then possibly KN/FA/TC if SoS continues to fall.

KN/FA/TC would be a good match for T2.

Haven’t had a chance to test this out yet. But, maybe this will encourage more participation in WvW. There are still a lot of folks that haven’t been playing (or even tried it) it just because there were no rewards and, in some cases, you could lose money by participating.

I quit farming the pent / shelter quite awhile back. What I have found is that by harvesting in Orr/Frostgorge and fighting the mobs as I go…I get better drops than what pent / shelt has turned into.

Plus I get a bagful of high level mats to sell.

Ranger….simply the easiest professsion to level. (I have all the professions)

I don’t even worry about dailies. If they happen..cool. It not, its no big deal. Dailies are fo those who either have a lot of time to play or cannot accept the self responsibility for figuring out what to do in the game.

9….don’t know why I purchased that 9th slot since I have one of each profession. Guess it just fulfills that need to level something up a few levels, then delete it and start over.

I also keep thinking that one of these days I’m going to find a Charr or Asura in some profession that I’m going to like….

3 level 80’s so far…though my guard is lvl 78 or so….My Necro was the most fun to level. Followed by my Engie. Ranger was the easiest to level by far.

Go skydiving, spelunking, scuba diving, hiking, camping, sculpting, swimming, farming, dancing, singing, drawing, biking, vending, marketing, and other -ings. Then come back to gw2. Somehow, if you play continuously without fail, you’ll get bored faster. But if you have like 10 things you need to do, or if you haven’t logged on for a few days, playing it becomes so much more fun

Yeah, not playing much cause you’re busy in RL can make any game a heck of a lot more fun. I guess thats the main reason I enjoy GW2 so much…cause I can’t/don’t play like some of these peeps.

Try wvw. It took me a long time to really get into it. Once I did, however, I just use PvE for harvesting stuff and selling it to keep my wvw toon(s) in decent gear.

But PvE, fractals and dungeons just don’t cut it compared to wvw. Love it.

You can already hide head & shoulder armor. Hit your H key and unclick both on Hero Tab.

~ Armor – do away with profession specific armor. Let any profession wear or mix/match any armor in the game.

While I agree that there should be a fallback in place for such things…doesn’t it only cost 1s to start a guild?

These kind of things generally don’t happen in the early times of guilds. They tend happen later…after the core group has spent many hours getting the guild up to where they want. But for whatever reasons…something has pulled the leadership away and the remaining people want to take control.

but what if the leader’s life problems ever allow him/ her to come back..say..a year down the road? Shoulld they come back to find that something they build no longer belongs to them? I still say no. The Guild belongs to the originator/s for as long as the game remains viable.

That said, if enough people are dissatisfied…it won’t take long to start a new guild and build it back up.

No….generally guild leaders paid the coin to start the guild. If you don’t like what they are doing, you can go start your own guild or join another guild.

Why should it be one or the other? You could argue that GW2 is just another aspect of real life. Given that the alternative to life is something much less intriguing.

My other toons support my wvw’ing. I know this…from my harvesting for truffles to gearing my 80’s up.

So what? Its part of the game and, in truth, probably closer to reality than some might think. Its always been a given that a front line fighter in era in any army has a veritable army of support behind them. From food to weapons.

Why should it be any different here?

What I don’t do, however, is waste time putting a pencil to imaginary $‘s in a freakin video game. It doesn’t matter what it costs. What matter is whether or not you are enjoying yourself.

If you’re no longer having fun…maybe these games are not the outlet for you?

I’m starting GW2 tonight, bought it yesterday afternoon but it’s taken more than a day to actually install so I will be playing it when I get home from work today. I’m a PvP orientated player and played Rogue, Shadow Priest & Warlock in RBGs on WoW at a decent level and played a Mage in RIFT. My class preference is definitely Rogue and Warlock therefore when it comes to GW2 naturally I’m looking at a choice of Thief or Necro. Unfortunately I’ve been advised Necro is so painfully far from the feel of an Affliction Warlock that it’s not worth playing, can anyone advise what my best option is to not waste time playing the wrong profession? Also are there any race/prof restrictions? I only have minimal GW1 exp.

Go ahead and try out a Necro though, Kari. Its a good class no matter what anyone tells you. My condition specc’d wellomancer Necro is quite handy in wvw and in pve. I solo’d her to 80 with no problems.

Can’t speak spvp though.

Went back to EQ2 for about an hour. But I kept comparing the cartoon graphics / characters to GW2. And I just couldn’t stay….even though I’ve played that game for over 4 years.

I’ll be honest, I just don’t get the loot fixation in this forum. Not sure if its gamewide or just here though. I’ve just never “needed” so much coin to enjoy any game. Still don’t.

There’s nothing mysterious about why people don’t WvW. You get nothing to show for the time you spend there unlike every other activity in the game. No gear, no star next to your name (like with map completion), no “rank” system, no bragging rights….nothing. Seeing another guy in PvE, there is no way to tell whether or not he’s a WvW star.

Merely saying “Oh it’s a lot of fun” is not enough. “Just fun” isn’t good enough given that you can also be having fun in other parts of the game and have something to show for it. sPvP allows you to rank up, get cool /rank emotes, and sweet gear. There’s something to achieve. Something to look forward to. Something to show to others and say “See – I’m awesome!”.

Others say that if your server is winning you get PvE benefits. True, but those will happen regardless of whether I participate or not. It’s the prisoner’s dilemma.

It might be more attractive if it even meant something to die in WvW. Like once you die there your character is erased – meaning true hardcore mode. That’s a real sense of danger and excitement. But right now, there’s no penalty. Armor repairs are not bank breaking.

There are two reasons I enter WvW:

1. Jumping puzzles to get badges for legendaries. I destroy the siege weapon plans.
2. Map completion.

And when I enter a WvW map, I broadcast my intentions to get as many people to come with me. Someone once told me to help them take some keep. I asked why and how I could benefit…and he wasn’t able to give me an answer.

Long story short – introduce better incentives and people will come. Otherwise forget it.

Not everyone needs a cookie for doing…. every silly thing.

I’ve been playing since the betas on TC only. Rolling, deleting and re-rolling alts as usual (its a disease, I know). Exploring & playing in open world and blithely ignoring dungeons, spvp and WvW. Not my style…I thought.

But for the last few weeks, I’ve been playing wvw. And enjoying it immensely. And this from an avowed soloist in all games. That said, there are a lot people out there who hate pvp in any form. I was one of those and I just lumped wvw into that playstyle and ignored it.

Its not spvp. But until you can convince the general populace to lay aside their stereotypes and give the style an honest chance for a few weeks…it will probably stay the way it is.

Its still fun. Not everyone needs a cookie for playing an event.

Why would someone spend hours and hours to get a single piece of raid gear coming from the same dungeon run…over and over?

Why does there have to a digital goodie reward? Isn’t the concept of “fun” enough anymore? Why does everyone spend a fortune on seige knowing full well its going to disappear or that the other servers will likely overrun it?

I don’t think any of us can define what is “fun” for anyone else other than ourselves. No matter how hard we try.

In the end, in any video game, whatever you accomplish there in terms of wealth is not real or all that important. What you accomplish in terms of old / new friends is what counts.

No…but I do have quite a collection of chests.

I brought my engie out of mothballs and respecc’d to the Juggernaut build for FT. Used it in WvW last night. Something about being on fire just freaks people out. The added toughness is mighty fine too for standing close on the front line a bbq’-ing everything in sight.

Warriors and thieves especially have relatively poor condition removal. I will say, however, that using an FT in WvW really kittens peeps off. I can’t tell you how many times they were dancing on my corpse after I went down, lol.

Attack moves 3,4 and 5 requires quite a lot of work to get right in battle. It makes rifles less appealing and feel clunky in my opinion. We can talk about references to shotguns all day, but at the end of the day there isn’t a single shotgun skin in the game.

The lower rarity skins look like a blunderbuss tho.

Most of the real blunderbusses could fire either either / or…solid shot vs multiple shot.

I think they (ANet) just got mixed up. The Warriors rifle skills should have been the Engies and vice versa…alas.
