This is just all of you guessing, noone really knows because Arena Net have not cleared it out. And there is endless of threads asking the same thing. So unless you are from Arena Net i appreciate your effort, but i really want the answer from them.
The link maddoctor gave a timeframe on the GW2 homepage.
I agree a quick confirmation should have occured since we know they read the forums and thus seen the question, but the answer was provided on their releases page.
I believe you will be able to get it next October. You could try Support, but as it is a specific reward for logging in, I suspect they may say no.
Go here: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/
It’s very clear:
The Shadow of the Mad King, our annual Halloween festival, returns for nearly two weeks of ghoulish capers, spooky fights, and frightening fun!
Start date: October 18 + 2 weeks = ends today
Thank you.
I think this answers the question categorically now
As a small guild it seems like it has been made impossible to claim a guild hall. I liked how you could get one in Guild Wars one. It made it possible for any guild to get one. Even if it was harder to collect the funds needed to get one. What I am hoping is that the dev team will see this and think about small guild and a way for use to claim a guild hall.
We claimed it with 5 and have levelled to 28 with 4 or less contributors, so it is def doable, but as a long term goal. Which I am happy with to be honest.
The Wiki says this;
“Instead of corrupting living beings, Primordus and its champions seem to prefer to create minions solely of earth and fire, usually spawning them in pools of lava, and they are created in mockery of living creatures”
“However, it turns out that the Great Destroyer is merely a general and champion of the Elder Dragon Primordus.”
So both create Destroyers and The GD could command independetly, but Dragons are always the over arching “intelligence” if you like. There are likely more Champions/Lieutenants though.
Primordus can create Destroyers at any time as far as we know. They never went extinct.
It gets better. A lot better – there is one quite lengthy episode set in The Priory. I wont spoil it, but it was a great surprise for GW1 players.
I don’t think the first 2 episodes were as bad as you found it, but the whole season is a bit up and down in consistency. As a season overall, the quality is generally pretty high, with some excellent boss and mob encounters.
Missing out on Season 1 sadly removes almost the entire back stories for the NPC’s so feeling lost in concern to them is only natural.
I don’t understand their not letting us know how long the festival will last. What’s the point? People might like to know how long they have to complete achievements, mine candy corn, etc.
Confuses me too. Not sure why they stopped giving end dates or adding the timer to the meta achievements. I’m assuming it will end tomorrow since there has been no indication of an extension though.
I just wish they’d make it available for the people who had one but accidentally deleted it before the wardrobe system was activated.
Same, although I suspect a ticket to Support may make it available for us. Not that I remember it mind you and I’ve been in since headstart. I never delete items, so I’m wondering if there was another criteria for it.
I’ve always been your secret admirer because of that! :P
*blushes
I feel sorry for people who blindly follow meta builds and they miss out on all the fun! Those are the people who get bored and quit after a few months.
Very true. Had I been following meta, I woulda never tried a rifle/bow warrior, or a passive-regen warrior, or sw/sw celestial warrior, or a scepter/torch guard (2 years ago), or my settler’s no-minion necro, and on, and on… they’ve all been so much fun!
(edit: lately I’ve been toying with the idea for a staff-only, no minion, necro… I think it could be fun too.
)
~EW
I have a mace/shield + rifle PVT Warrior
a hammer + mace and shield block, boon and heal Guardian
a no-minion GS Necro
an S/D condi/healer Tempest
I’m not sure I’m even allowed to look at a meta build page with those choices!! I may not be optimum, but I have way more fun than I would with a scripted build.
I think a lot depends on whether there is another week to Halloween. I would be very surprised if this didn’t appear either way though.
I’m not sure what all the complaints are about…
Have there been any?
No bats this year. No cats this year. Sorry.
There are no cats in America
and there are no Bats in Tyria
I have yet to see evidence of whether the streets are paved with cheese…
OP: I have heard that Halloween by have an extra week. If and I stress “if” there is an extra week, that would seem an opportune time for them to add in the wings.
But the tattered wings are dropping this year? I know haven’t been doing an excessive amount of Ascent, but I have been trying to do a few runs a day and I hadn’t seen any evidence of them.
Yes they are
I am steadfastingly refusing to buy gems atm, but the fact that i have seen no complaints on the forums about it, seems to be a good sign and does seem like a decent return for your candy spend.
If I was buying gems though, I wouldnt get it, simply because I am overflowing with boosters and I need every last candy for the Guild Hall.

This must be an NA thing. Everyone on EU seems to just call it The Horror.
We’re not very imaginative I guess…
Aye it has been up since the festival started last week
In terms of CoE situation I see it come up a few times and I am a bit sketchy on the reasonings behind it. The CoE creature seemed like a situation where the Inquest had forced the energies together to make a multi-corrupted being. Therefore it would be seem to be possible that the corruptions would “in the natural state” being immune to each other without the Inquest forcing things with unusual methods.
Can someone clarify the situation re: CoE and the dragon immunity issue? I am happy concede to being wrong with explanation – it has been a long while since I last did CoE
There you go
Jumping puzzles/mesmer portals are probably the closest thing, although most mesmers don’t charge for their services.
Soulknight beat me to it. Yes, the megaserver system allows you to find a populated map – with “meta” maps (ie maps requiring a lot of players) you often have to use lfg to find one you can hop into that is active.
Generally though, players are farming the labyrinth for money atm and possibly doing the 2 recent maps added. The game is very different from 4 years ago and is still highly populated.
How is a decision made 17 days ago supposed to have prevented a problem occurring months ago?
I’ve heard some interesting abilities attributed to John Smith but time travel is a new one.
Welllll….

The stone head of Kilroy Stonekin. It can be thrown, bashed, bowled… the possibilities would be endless!
It would be nice, but Id rather they committed resources entirely to this game.
If it wasnt to the detriment of GW2, then no harm I guess. Wouldnt make me play it any more than I do though since it isnt the gfx that prevent me playing it more regularly.
It’s back up according to the in game message I received. They published a notice about it before the weekend

No one knows what dates any gem store item will be around. There is no pre-planned schedule that is available to the community.
Chances are we will see new items from Tuesday. If rumour is believed, there will be an additional week of Halloween, so it might even appear that week.
1) Please, please break up wall of texts so they can be read.
2) There are loads of threads on this already, chiefly the first one linked below. They’ve just dropped off a little due to the sheer number of threads that appear and that a few days have passed since the initial outburst of discontent.

That’s not including the Reddit threads. So you aren’t the only one feeling that way (from what I can gather trying to read the wall of text above)
The issue essentially comes down to festivals being on an auto recycle like most MMO’s traditionally . GW1/2 always have a high reputation for delivering on Halloween, which many feel they haven’t delivered which is a result of trying to deliver so much other content like LS and expansion 2 and perhaps mis-interpreting player expectations for festivals.

We’re not even halfway through halloween, chances are still very high for it to appear
Exclusivity should be more associated with skill or time investment than being present for a 1 week event 4 years ago, which not everyone was able to attend imo. GW2 is not the sort of game that should be bogged down on exclusivity based on being there at the right time. It’s one of the reasons LS1 and the Karka Event were unpopular.
The only thing that was unpopular was the fact they where limited time releases. You couldn’t play them in your own time. You have to devote your game time to them or miss out. That’s what people didn’t like.
Yes that is pretty much what I am saying. Missing out because you werent in during that time window is what made it unpopular (well the main reason anyway). Same with Mad Memoires.
Halloween gem items stagger through the festival. They will either put them in on Tues or potentially stagger new items every day as they ramp up to Halloween.
It is hard to skillgate something if there is no content which requires skill and cannot be cheesed. Even raids can easily be cheesed by buying raid kills or getting carried by friends.
Then that should be a greater priority to be fixed than locking away old skins arbitrarily. Liadri is a good example of completing something skill based and getting a mini as a reward. Im sure a section of players will look at Liadri as being too easy, but im betting most ppl attempting gauntlet saw Liadri as a personal triumph to perservere towards. It is one reason I want to see Gauntlet return (albeit buffed to counter the power creep).
The Llama minis represent another skill based achievement. Again, im sure many will counter that by suggesting how easy or it can be cheesed, but to many of us, it represents players who showed skill and dedication in pvp.

At the time, the concept of ls1 being temporary and playable only to those at the time was hugely unpopular. That doesnt mean ppl didnt like it or prefer it. You arent the only who liked it that i have seen and id be lying if there werent isolated bits i fondly remember. However, it was widely panned by the community in general plus pockets of the media for not being replayable and led to the instanced, replayable stories that came after.
Im not against exclusivity, but I am against items being unavailable simply because it isnt 2012 anymore. There is no viable reason items like Mad Memories, the Scythe etc shouldnt be available every halloween in some way. It is better for the game and the wider community to lock prestige and exlusivity behind skill or time investment instead.
For example are the AP armours. I see someone with the later parts of those, i can appreciate the time and effort gone into those and that know person was dedicated enough to drive themselves through the achievements, all the while knowing that goal is still achievable for me. Mad Memories has no such prestige or awe and just says to me they logged in during a single week in 2012.
Can you no longer access the Labyrinth at least from the doors in open world? I know it isn’t the full thing, but it would be something.
Ive noticed suddenly groups skipping the bosses entirely since they were being buffed, with players claiming they are too slow vs the rate of gain for bags.
Sometimes I wonder if Anet can ever win lol
Host a costume brawl Battle Royale…and win!
Let’s just hope/pray that their new focus on quality content quickly means that no more raids will be added.
More raids are confirmed. iirc they are already working on the new one
It’s as tall as my human character. It’s a snow globe basically. It’s terribly misleading and Terribly expensive.
I feared as much. I’ve delegated it to the bottom of the list for now.
No date has been announced afaik, but it is likely to be Tuesday November 1st, since they tend to build up to Halloween and then end it pretty soon after.
Sounds like a more advanced version of the Tower of Nightmares from Season 1
No one knows, but I would be surprised if it didn;t to be honest. I think it debuted during Halloween
My goal is to get enough Pumpkins to keep my guild building decorations long after Halloween. That means Candy Corn. I’ll probably just buy it off the TP.
Pretty much what Im doing. The Guild Hall is so vast, I might find a small corner and make it Halloween all year round!
How many of 1 item can the Guild Hall hold in the decorations tab of the treasury?
The mad moon is literally the biggest waste of gold in the game. It is a terrible decoration.
I haven’t got it yet. Is it because of the size? It looks quite small in the wiki pic
Yes, there are 2 new ones from the bag this yeah. The hellfire skeleton and the gargoyle
I agree with the bat wings needing to be more available or less required just for a scarecrow. The pumpkins seem easy enough to get for a guild working together though.
Some extra suggestions;
- exchange candy cobs for pumpkins ( ie 1 cob = 10 pumpkins).
- or convert 1 cob back to 1000 candy.
I’ve stored some candy as cobs for storage reasons, so it would be nice to use those. As it stands they are useless for decorating, even though they are essentially just re-packaged candy
My guild is very small too. There are only 4 contributors and mine cover the majority when others are taking a break for other games. That makes the decorations a more substantial goal to work at.
It never really bothered me, but great to see swift comms and action on the issue. With such widespread feedback about certain aspects of halloween this yeae, there was a concern it wasnt being taken seriously.
Im enjoying halloween as always, but the grind and the focus on the economy alongside less activities have diminished the festival. It no longer feels like the premier place to game during these two weeks like it was.

I am indifferent to the Pavilion returning, but the Gauntlet part of it I think should def return. It is unique and i teresting as opposed to the zergfest downstairs, which the game already had plenty of options for.
I gave up on the mini too, it simply was too insane for me to get and was going to zap all the fun out of the festival for me. Fun trumps all in festivals, especially the economy.
So I set 2 goals;
- run around and have fun, pref with ppl I know. That I can do – the activities are fun enough for me to do just for the sake of doing.
- use any candy i get to get decorations for the guild hall. If i stock up on everything i need and want now, i can make the hall look cool for next year and there are some swish decorations
Im not sure what else there is. Complete the JP maybe? Aim for the shoulderpads (might be a high goal though)?
Halloween 2016 isnt the disaster many claim, but when festivals become about grind or the economy and not about fun, something has gone wrong. Hopefully it will be learned for next time. I just hope Wintersday doesnt ramp up the grind even further..
