So coming tuesday we’ll get wintersday, but the big question on everyone’s minds: we didnt get halloween’16, so what are the odds we’ll get a wintersday’16.
Right now, hopes are low.???
What do you mean by “We didn’t get Halloween ’16”? It just finished a month ago. Also, “coming Tuesday Wintersday will start” but “We won’t get Wintersday” is contradictory and makes no sense. So, what do you actually try to say?
It’s a bit misleading by the OP, but basically they mean we didn’t get new activities for Halloween, so it is a repeat of previous years. Which is pretty much what they intended festivals to be like.
I assume EU?
Snowmans lair would have needed to have been designed a while ago for them to have put it in. With 3 working days until wintersday, there wont be any changes to the festival not already set in stone.
I like the choir bell idea tho
You’ll be happy to know that you will get both the opening and end date for the Wintersday Festival. I agree with everyone who expressed opinions in the past that it’s very helpful to know the extent of a festival, and it’s my belief we’ll be more forthcoming about end dates in the future.
We appear to have only got the start date. No end date on the News blog that I could see.
Yes, which was not what I expected. However, the news it out there through the MMORPG article, and both dates will appear, I believe, on the release page which goes up the date the festival starts.
Cool, as long as it is on the release page, then that works. Plenty of time to decorate the Guild Hall!

I would highly doubt they will add new activities to any festival. The only concern would be if they removed any like they have done with each Halloween until it became a shadow of its former self.
I just hope we have seen the back of those silly “drink 10k” drinks collections. Last Wintersday and Halloween prior have put too much emphasis on economy control or grind, when they are supposed to be light hearted fun. I hope they have remembered to go back to that.

Nope, they didn’t include it in the blog, but it was in the MMORPG article that came out this morning about PvP Season 5. I quoted it several posts above.
I know, but only a tiny number will see that. Since the blog is linked from the login page, if it is an oversight, better for it to be picked up sooner rather than later.

Has anyone watched the twitch Guild Chat and summarise what was said?
all just hear say at best with fake leaked stuff that leads to noting at all!! not only that
but if that was real and not something leaked or fake . i will not spend one penny on
that at all .and i will unstall the game fully . that would be something i would not
want in this game at all. and if i want to play mario i will play mario on my wii and so
forth but not in this game at all ever !!
Just for clarity, this is in the game already. It’s the Super Adventure Box festival that occurs in April. The OP was being tongue-in-cheek about an expac based on it.
I doubt we will see any news until we are near or at the end of S3, if anything to avoid spoilers of what is to come. HoT’s announcement came as the epilogue to S2, so I would not expect any imminent news on the expac. Anet keep their cards close to their chest, so until the time is right and no spoilers on the current content can be revealed, I expect to hear nothing for quite a while.
It is likely to be next Tuesday since that is the week they are doing the Wintersday community stuff and correlates with the same week it appears every year.
You can find more information about Current Events (and their schedule) in the latest Guild Chat on Twitch (and maybe on YouTube by now).
Good luck.
Is there a synopsis of said chat to save watching it?
Obviously the survey is meaningless 4 years on, however I do occasionally check the community creations subforum for commission based artists. I have thought of getting sculpted miniatures of my mmo toons, especially my GW2 ones.
They said they are looking into different possibilities. Which means they havent got an answer to this.
They absolutely wont tell us what any potential change will be until it is ready for live
It is a big concern of mine too. Same with Primordus being nearer the surface. Both dragons occupy areas of significant interest and I hope we end up exploring all the north and the underground areas.
No, not lazy. There’s a fundamental technical restriction on dyeing backpacks, as they are not considered armor. More like weapons.
You can use Google to find the long, technical explanation from the Devs, if you so desire.
Good luck.
This. Much like weapons, the decision was made early on not to have the dye channels due to significant workload. They have said it is possible, but the work involved is far more than most realise since it involves changes deep in the core of the code and risks breaking a great deal of things.
There is a wintersday community thing on the 14th, i forget the details. It would makke sense for wintersday beginning around a similar time

Just as an extra, if you ever buy any future expansion, HoT will come free with it.
You can sell the fragments to a vendor, so they aren’t completely useless at least.
For future reference, if you right click and preview a BL chest (or any festival chest and certain champ boxes), you can see the full range of possibilities. That will allow you to make a decision on whether you wish to gamble or not. I suspect they wont be programming chests to detect what content you have.
It says on twitter it is offline until approx 5pm Pacific time. As I type, it is currently 4pm Pacific Time according to google.
You can read twitter w/o a login.
If it doesn’t log in your chat channel (can’t remember if it does or not), then there is no other way.
For anyone who wants to put their opinion to a poll, the official twitter has this

I really hope we get to explore a lot of the Northern area. So much potential! If Jormag really is parked near Bitterfrost, I fear it might sink any chances of a full exploration.
Whilst I know necroing is normally frowned upon, thank you for bumping this from the depths. It reminded me I was going to look into the community created rpg linked in here.
We finally got round to it and we enjoyed it, despite not being the most skilled or experienced fractal team around. Some interesting mechanics, although it was a bit of a shame it was nothing like the LS1 Nightmare Tower – the narrative wasn’t as clear cut for telling its story. I guess that would have been too hard to pull off as a fractal and at least it does feel a bit more standalone.
It was vastly better than the over-long Chaos fractal and it was nice to get back to the short blast of instanced content that Fractals at its best, does so well.
One thing to note, when we went to get the corpse by the shark, a couple of ppl died. At no point could we get the group out of combat to be able to “retry from checkpoint”. We tried moving surviving players away, we tried suiciding different members of the group, but once one person retried from checkpoint, no one else could. Is that a bug or some mechanic we overlooked?
In the end, we individually got one person to retry and then die closer to the shore for a manual revive and repeated until all were up.

The wardrobe system is better due to having tabs which are keybound, so you can switch your social at a button press and not have them taking up invent space. That would be amazing here.
Gw2 has a vastly better dye system
I agree a storyline would be good, but they have removed that aspect from forthcoming legendaries in order to be able to get them into the game. I believe someone found a pic of a large, bright golden greatsword which was speculated to be the legendary sword, but there has been no word since so it could easily be a red herring.
I suspect we could see a frost and flame legendary at some point. The bow seems prime, but they could intertwine it as the greatsword, either as a single weapon or one flame, one frost and one both in the same vein of Eternity.
You do not require tubes for any part of the story. You walk into the Bitter Cold then you work your way up and round along paths and glide onto where the green star is. It should be clear how to proceed from there. The Kodan en route are merely annoying vets.

The mobs are tougher to normal attacks to encourage use of the torch, esp the vets. That Kodan near the entrance to Bitter Cold can be nasty, so either grab a torch and burn him down or run past.
Playing lotro and trying to dodge..
Playing Anarchy Online and forgetting to rebuff when I want to equip high req armour
Playing any mmo and have the old zones relevant!
That last is a big reason for me to stick with GW2. Whilst the story just isnt clicking, the World remains wonderful to play in and I can go to any zone and thanks to the scaling, the event system and how the loot system works, my gaming time still feels productive and relevant. No other mmo i have played does that.
Each new legendary skin seem to be tied thematically so far to each new map. Whether that is the longer term goal I dont know.
I think there is zero chance of it happening.
The idea is awesome though, I’d forgotten about that place.
I think new Claws throwing in the magic from Zhaitan and Mordy could be interesting. The new map or maybe a forthcoming one would be prime for it.
For the most part, i have always received excellent service in any mmo i have played. The one thing Anet has over the others though, is that they communicate to you as a person, rather than the stilted, formal and over professional way most service agents do. That applies to both in game and forum support. It is refreshing and makes me more confident im dealing with decent, fair minded people.
I assumed Owl was killed outright when Jormag ate her, although I find the concept of a corrupted Spirit interesting at least. The info at the shrine says “destroyed forever” though.
For those wanting context, it’s part of S3 but lore you can get when you visit Hoelbrak and talk to Owl’s shrine
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Shrine_to_OwlAgain, I missed the part in Season 3 where it references Owl. I assume it is in Episode 3? Would you be so kind as to point me to it? =)
There isn’t one. Don’t think the OP mentions one either, I think they are speculating for the future based on established lore and the direction the story is moving in.

Never noticed this issue and they aren’t part of the auto loot system.
Icebound chests in the main section of the map (ie not the hidden ones) are trapped in ice and need to be melted then interacted with again to loot. Sometimes, someone else has melted to ice already, so you only have to interact with it once to get the loot.
If that is unrelated to what you meant, then I have no idea. I have not seen or experienced anything else in relation to chests
It might be this NPC, the Harbringer of Woe in the Nightmare fractal.
Correct since it is specifically listed as a fractal patch
They don’t generally respond directly to it. Plus they have been on holiday for Thanksgiving, so there is no expectation of them breaking for rest and family time to respond to work matters – as it should be..
As I understand it, they reference the feedback during ongoing internal discussions when designing episodes.
You also have to remember it can be months before any feedback actually sees fruit in the game since each episode was started 6 months prior.
I’m guessing this is the ironic counter thread to the duelling one?
Ls3 is certainly the best season so far. I still have major qualms about the overall arc of the story, but for fun and gameplay, the quality has def come a long way from the personal story. A map an episode is an ambitious and welcome move as well.
The seasons arent really geared at returning players, they are more for retention of existing players clamouring for regular content. The expansion will be what will become their main focus at reaching out to the wider audience again. But that will be a discussion for another time.
I appreciate why this is an issue and there are mechanics that small groups often ignore to be able to kill it with only 3 or 4 (kiting being one) making it frustrating for you to kill this mob.
However, I agree it’s annoying when a year on these events are becoming harder to complete now for things you need to progress. May I suggest you pop a request in the players helping players subforum, stating NA/EU. I guarantee you, you will have this done in no time at all if you do.
If you are on EU and I am online, you are welcome to pm me and I can come help and maybe bring some guildies.
But that’s exactly my argument: although Mordremoth and Zhaitan are ‘dead’ now we still have Undead and Mordrem roaming around. I don’t care, it’s a game. So why couldn’t they just leave parts of LS1? Like Marionette. It’s now just an empty place with nothing to do. Temporary special events like when Scarlet is roaming around in the open world are cut be cause they conflict other events etc. I understand they removed it, but why something like Marionette?
LS1 was their experiment into designing content that left impressions on the World. The idea is when it’s “time” was done, it was done permanently. Like The Tower being built and destroyed. The destruction of LA. . Killing Marionette, killed the Marionette.
Unfortunately they had committed too far to reverse this and leave aspects in place. And by the time Wurm came out, which was LS1 content which referred to LS1 events and still does as perm content, it was too late to reverse their direction.
There were ways round this and they had other options.
- A fractal boss with a larger party req or a raid boss.
- Another group, like the Aetherblade or Inquest took control of the Marionette and got it back up and running
- Take the mechanics and re-apply it to another boss.
The latter is the direction they went in (Vinewrath).

I just pick the same as my normal helm for consistency
ooh I’ve not seen the AB one. Will have a look tomorrow!
Hello guys
So I have this phoenix skin from back when it was released. Bhought 2 because, stupid me, 2 pistols doesnt equal 2 skins….
So I have 1 unused skin. Want to send it to a guildy. Is that banable? Like I’ve seen some get banned for sending legendaries.
Sending a skin or a legendary is not or ever has been, bannable. We even have community threads especially set up to facilitate gifting of such items.
Deleted old feedback, since I’ve changed opinion after few days extra play. Map has really grown on me and has a real ‘cold’ feel to it. Apologies it is over the 50 word count..
Negatives
- Far too much inventory clogging stuff. Elixir stuff, costume stuff, physical currencies. Oh boy was this overkill.
- Maybe a larger map with a boss, like a Claw of Jormag could bring an extra depth to the map? How did the Kodan ships ever reach Frostgorge? Seems like the geographical lore was overlooked a bit here.
- Story was too short and really didn’t explore enough lore. Needed to be about more than one mob and Braham’s hissy fit (which actually I didn’t object to). The open world story was just bland a-b, pick up stuff. I preferred it when S2 used dynamic events to aid progression.
- No new music? Re-using starter area music for what is supposed to be a battleground map and Dragon Minion heartland is very inappropriate. You have produced stunning scores sine launch, but S3 is lacking in comparison and most noticeably here where the score no longer matches the surroundings.
- Mastery again felt too quick to fill. I can understand not wanting the grind, so maybe it is time to add multiple tiers to an episode.
- We seem to be building lots of new threads each episode, but not really tying anything up. This is contrary to specific dev comments about loose ends and we still have huge numbers from HoT to deal with. Needs better focus.
- Instances are just waves of mobs. And often with elites which just slow things down rather than add much difficulty.
- I hope this is building to actually something epic and longer term with 2 Dragons and not just a quick dispatch this season. With such a huge abundance of lore underground with the dwarves and all that space and potential up North, it is vital we explore every bit we can. HoT wasted so much which was sad for a franchise with such a rich lore.
- I’m sure the fractal was amazing, but was a shame it wasn lvl25+. Meant my guild were locked out until we levelled up our fractal rank. A temp “0” level may have worked better or something like how Thaumanova was implemented
- Elixir isn’t clear it resets at daily reset time. Remaking is quite a cumbersome process and doesn’t really fit with how GW2 generally works to make life more streamlined in gameplay. Better to hand in ingredients one time to an NPC who sells us the elixir on demand.
Positives
- Kodan lore fab. Love all the little titbits.
- Originally I criticised a lack of collectibles. I was wrong. The Stanzas and the chests are spot on and a bit different from the previous maps.
- Some areas of the map were stunning, especially the forest. The map needed to be bigger and allow various geographics to breathe. Was a little crammed, but was at least crammed with some great scenery. At last, proper trees! (outside of Maguuma ofc). Loved the UW area and some of the quaggan in the houses we could talk to. Maybe needed an event or 2 though, but if the intention was a respite area, it worked really well.
- I found after multiple plays, the meta quite refreshing. Neither fail or success dependant that was a bit weird at first, but it is in fact quite organic. Event rewards were numerous and made staying around worthwhile for me.
- Nice to see older masteries being re-used like bouncing mushrooms and leyline gliding. They weren’t used to any real potential, but it’s encouraging to see them beyond Maguuma.
- I thought Braham at least showed more character than he has previously. He may have come across as petulant, but it worked better for him than how he has been prior.
- Great job making the night time feel like night time. That was something I’be hoped for since HoT beta and is the first time I’ve felt you got it right. I would have liked to have seen the blizaard more like the Dry Top sandstorm effect, but 1 out of 2 is still good!
- The Zelda chicken reference was cool
Overall, some nice bits, but for the episode I was looking forward to the most, it was by far the weakest for me storywise and felt very rushed. I was not a fan of the map at first, but it’s actually fun to play in and rewarding as well. Looking forward to the fractal!
It doesn’t matter if it can be done. Half the PvE players will quit and that will end the game. The dev’s know this from the repeated squashing each time it is suggested.
Good luck getting them to end their own jobs. The hatred of dueling and all it entails is what’s wrong with it. It is intentionally not in the game, not missing from the game.
Please give more information on why people would quit playing if dueling was added into PVE? Would it be because of the losing and or unfairness of a build? Or would it be because of people play dirty?
This is the simplest solution that can make everyone happy: If you don’t like to duel, then don’t duel. If you do like to duel, then you can duel as long as you follow the rules that are already known to everyone who does duel.
It’s a psychological thing. It doesn’t matter whether it logically will affect players or not, players will see it and many will feel instinctively it is the start of a trend they wanted to avoid when they came to GW2. It’s why many kicked off (understandably) over ascended gear, because so many came here to avoid just that. It didn’t matter the stat jump was insignificant.
It’s all about perception for the wider community. Being able to ignore it in this case is irrelevant, whether logic supercedes that or not. Duelling has enough negative baggage from its history in other MMO’s for its mere presence in open world in this particular game, to have a negative effect.
Duelling in pve or open world is not something that will attract players in great numbers. It will however, scare off players just by existing. That’s a net loss. Beyond adding in new tech, there is no reason not to add it to the pvp lobby as a separate area or a queuing room, but there is no convincing reason to bring it into the pve/open world area either.

The fifth stanza of the Quaggan poem appears to indicate an explanation
5 — The cold wind froze patches of the quaggan’s skin. Boo!
— And turned it a mottled black and frosty hue.
Having only found that one, I haven’t got full context.
