Maybe they are old ads from before HoT?
Our tiny Guild (3-5 players) has never done a single pvp or wvw guild mission ever. We now have a lvl 34 Guild Hall, so it is absolutely possible to continue to progress your Guild
without pvp missions. I can’t remember how, but I suspect it was by following the advice in one of the above posts.
You can get a mentor tag which is free from the core masteries. It doesn’t have the same functionality as a comm tag though, but if the lanes have enough ppl, generally a mentor tag will work fine.
Beyond taxiing, you ideally have to be there half early at least and then you have a better (but not guaranteed chance) that map will populate up quickly into a meta map.
The next map you pretty much have to taxi into to do the meta. If get there at the exact point of reset, it is possible, but you will pretty much be relying on the lfg/taxi
My warrior mains shield. In fact I have shield on Guardian, Chronomancer and Revenant/Herald. I find the Warrior most useful for me – it blocks, it can reflect when traited and it stuns. It’s the most ‘shield like’ shield in the game and works well with most main hands the warrior has.
Warriors are very sturdy, great all rounders. They probably don’t excel in certain areas, but whoever told you they aren’t good at all is talking nonsense.
A pop cap increase wont solve the issue. You will still have the exact same problem, in fact additional problems as everyone starts to lag and dc even more under the strain. There are various answers to the issues – some are dev driven, some are player driven;
- Improving the mega server tech so that once all the full maps are full, it is easier to fill up the next maps without having lots of half filled ones. I don’t understand the tech enough to pursue this further, but I’d hope it’s a tweak the devs are looking at as an ongoing concern.
- Commanders removing their lfg once full. There were 6 full maps just now I saw and everyone is trying to get into those. If players commanding the taxi shut their lfgs down, players would be more inclined to push their own map and not stand idly by and the cause they issue you describe
- More players take the onus of rallying everyone together, taxiing etc. Sometimes a map is on the way to getting going, but the lack of comms on the map deceives those joiniing the map in thinking it is dead. Full maps get to that point due to players stepping up. There will always be dead maps, but players can help reduce it with more personal organisation in more maps. I suspect this is a confidence issue which is understandable.
- Somehow improving the tech to placehold a dc for maybe 2-3mins. AGain, above my tech knowledge if workable as a solution.
- Nerf or alter the scaling to be more dynamic. I think this will happen long term eventually as new expacs open up.

Veteran instances would split the playerbase too much i fear and things would never get done. It would mean players would likely see less other players on the map due to such a split and that’s very much the opposite of what Anet want their game to be like.
Silverwastes, HoT maps and more recent living story maps are a world apart from the core difficulty, so should meet your expectations.

It has nothing to do with the Mad King I’m afraid. The excess magic leaking everywhere is entirely related to the killing of 2 Dragons (it’s explained at various points in the story iirc). The whole story is gearing up to the consequences of unbalancing the World’s magic as we take down each of the Dragons who kept it all in check.
As for summing up in more detail, you could check the Wiki, Dulfy (prob only guides though) and maybe WoodenPotatoes videos on youtube. I understand he does quite a bit on lore etc
I am surprised they didn’t announce an end date since I know Gaile was keen on ensuring that was communicated going forward.
It will prob last 2 weeks, but I’m OK with any time length. An extra activity I enjoy, some minor fun with the lucky envelopes and the chance to decorate the GH with some decorations I’ve been waiting to get my hands on – all works for me!
If people don’t like it or are bored with it, that is their prerogative they can just not participate.
You could contact Support and explain how you missed it and see if they will sell you it.
Short of that working it’ll either return in one of their seasonal sales/updates or next Wintersday.
I get far more leather on my medium class than my light class. I also get a lot more silk on my light class.
My heavies seem a bit more balanced.
Prior to HoT they made a change for things to be weighted in favour of which armour class you are on and it does noticeably make a difference for me at least.
My understanding is that these Quaggan have evolved differently from the normal and the orca quaggan due to the intense frostbite they are used to. The poem mentions how frostbite changed their skin colour to the blackened state, I suppose it is possible it stunted their growth as well.
They are def adults, since there is an elder Quaggan in one of the houses underwater.
Problem is now fixed
Living Story seasons (the bits that bridge and set up expansions) are available for gems. Going forward, they can be free for you as long as you log in during each chapter’s launch period (eg if you log in now, season 3, episode 3 is free and yours forever, but you need to pay for episodes 1 and 2).
I would prioritise season 2 and the early bit of season 3 for your gems (season 1 no longer exists due to various reasons). Infinite gathering tools are prob your best convenience item from the gemstore.
The raid will likely loosely tie into the background of the main story. If we aren’t up to that point yet, then it will cause unnecessary spoilers. I suspect that would be a more likely reason as to why the raid wing isn’t out yet (assuming it is actually finished ofc)
Minis were/are completely RNG ….. some of them I am just getting now from being able to turn in a ticket thing and pick from the previous years
Aye, but mini’s were/are also tradeable. I can’t remember if there were any the weren’t mind oyu. I’ve forgotten more than I remember of the game lol
Have to say, I’m always seeing them really well populated myself. I think the key difference is that they have responded for demands for more explorable maps which are less meta heavy. For in-between expac stuff, I think this is a wise approach long term. If every map ends up with a meta requiring coordination and lots of players, then as the game grows, it will struggle to sustain all those meta maps. HoT in 2 expacs time is likely to need to scaling down for example as I really can’t see there being enough people to manage either Gerent or Dragon Stand.
My main concerns over the new episodes;
- Story started off really strong, but has dropped off very quick. Ep3 had very little progression compared to Ep1 and an iconic lore moment (ie the cutscene at the end) was rushed through. That should have been a hugely epic moment in the overall story and it was shoved to one side. Also, all those loose threads from HoT have been, well ignored.
- Too many tokens, keys, extra curricular items. It’s too much and it is a slight concern this wasn’t thought about more in development.
- Masteries are too quick and easy to gain. This is largely a personal thing and I know the speed at which you gain masteries is likely a result of Anet listening and actioning on player feedback (which is ofc a good thing), but I myself would prefer the masteries not to be completed within an hour of casual play. A largely non-issue in the wider scheme ofc.
Otherwise, so far they’ve been really good.

It’s partly delayed because it requires the next round of raids to patch into the game. That was my understanding anyway.
Colin left! Colin left! Why didn’t someone tell me about this? Why didn’t I get an e-mail?
Heads will roll until I find out who is responsible! But one matter needs to be clarified before I rain down holy terror on whomever is behind this.
Who is Colin exactly?
He was the Game Director for GW2 during development and up to HoT.
I didn’t like the blocks of ice either…however I’ve seen huge castles built from them and other really creative uses. On their own, they are terrible, but they clearly weren’t designed for that use. See the below link for an example

Remember, Lunar is really only a half/minor festival to fill a gap. Like all festivals when they went live during LS1, the devs stated that they were always meant to be recycled filler. Lunar esp was never designed to have a great deal of rewards. Question is, what sort of decoration are missing that should be added?
edit: deleted and reposted since thread somehow got out of order.
They stated in another thread that a fix was missing from the patch notes, hence why cedo said refer to the dev tracker rather than the notes.
Also, you do get rewards for winning DB – just not every victory. Every 10
Red lantern is a decoration, which can make 6 more decorations. Hence why it is 6 “additional”.
Might be worth brainstorming what you’d like to see for a future lunar festival
Fairly certain it always after multiple wins
A nice surprise to log in and find Lunar up already. I guess that means a delay to ep 4, but no real biggie.
Realistically, episode 4 will now be earlier than expected. They were never going to overlap releases, so February 7th would have been the earliest. Now it’s January 31st.
Is that the end date for Lunar?

Incidentally, I am also Chinese New Year of the…..ahem Rooster. Yes..Rooster..
It’s only temp disabled whilst they fix the exploit. I doubt it will disabled for long.
Wow. That’s not what happened, at all.
Super Adventure Box was an April Fool’s joke, and it was developed on a Dev’s personal off-work time. It was so popular, it was brought back later that year, with a new world that wasn’t very popular.
After that, it wasn’t seen for years, but almost constantly requested. This last year, it was returned, announced that there would be no further development (more Worlds) and that it would become a yearly Festival.
The initial patch was a dev off-time, yes, after that, it was a sham that players demanded be continued.
Right now, anet has their hands full to create a LS patch in 2-3 months, to the extend they didn’t even have time for the most minute changes of halloween or wintersday. IF I see an SAB update this year, I am gonna assume anet has lost all sense and reason of priorities
Whilst they didn’t 100% absolutely rule out ever making more Worlds at some point down the line, it is highly unlikely anything apart from maybe a couple of updated vendor rewards and achievements will be in this year.
Even in the remotest chance a World 3 has been added, SAB was immensely popular which means it would be justified priority – they are giving the community what was overwhelmingly asked for thousands of times over. But, even if they did go down that route and it was fitted into the schedule, they wouldn’t have done so if it meant a loss of resources to something that needed to be in from pve/wvw/pvp.
ie, if a World 3 was added, that’s actually a good sign. It means they are very much on top of things and have time for side projects. That’s excellent news for the game.
As for when ep4 launches, well next week I think might be a tad early, but if it is, I’d expect a game site to release the details tonight or tomorrow

From the link posted above;
“New accounts cannot send or receive any mail attachments until 7 days (of real-world) time have passed. This even applies to accounts that purchased the game.”
In 3 more days you will be able to
I do think the community influenced his fate. The outcry against him was enormous.
I’m not agreement with them though – his VA wasn’t great, but I didn’t feel like he stole our thunder or was a terrible character either. Like the rest of the Sylvari story arc in HoT, his time in the game was cut short needlessly.
Confirmed: in the next episode we will get to know about Charrs’s tribunal or court or whatever
)
Where is it “confirmed”?
personal story 1-80 happens in the past, 1325 AE to be precise. the current year in game 1329. the fixed up version of Lion’s Arch didn’t come until 1328, so it makes sense for it to be the old version
This. LA at level 40 is showing the correct version since it is historical

Stat combination is what I call it. Attribute combination is fine though
Pretty certain there has never been a record. You could ask in the lore forums, but really I think you have carte blanche to make it up
It has been brought up before, pretty much since the inception of the pass (2 years ago?). It doesn’t really seem like an unreasonable request since both the HoM stone, home instance portal and also the guild hall button all send you back to where you came from.
Im not a fan of the exalted one simply because the environment hugely overpowers any attempt to decorate it. If they can make more maps that look cool, but is actually enhanced by guild decorations then I am all for pretty much any setting. A snow/ice hall would prob be my fav option if I had to pick.
Ghosts of Ascalon would have been the best fit for a side quest in the game. It had your typical heroic fantasy quest and unlike Sea of Sorrows, a credible and interesting hero (Cobiah was sooo bland!!). It was a shame the Ruins of Ascalon in game didn’t live up to the epic and dangerous feel in the book.
I agree the Destiny’s Edge chars were better in the book than how they appeared in the game. A great deal of their importance of who they were and their relationships was lost in the game. I think not using them more in the game hurt them a lot – it was certainly not necessary to create this new band when we had ready made heroes.
Sea of Sorrows was largely a forgettable experience for me it was so poor. The rising of Zhaitan and the battle on the ships against the undead were quite exciting, especially compared to the. battles on the ships we were presented with.
The rest of the book I found quite tedious. Finding the LA locations mentioned in the book was a great touch for an achievement though.
I doubt Dougal Keane will ever feature in the game beyond his appearance as an NPC standing in LA, although it would be nice to have him with us at some point.
All players run at the same speed. It can be increased by the swiftness and quickness buffs from certain skills (see Artemis’ link) for a brief period. A small number of utility skills also give extra movement speed whilst that utility is equipped.
All professions have access to the buffs.
Wiki says 16 from gem store + the free 1, so 17
If you have any WvW tokens, there are some at the wvw vendors. The 18 slot ones aren’t very expensive (jn the link above, they are listed under “outfitter”)
335g for that plant is beyond unreasonable. Drop rates for scribing items are just silly considering how many you need. Guild Halls already have enough time sinks with the buildings, but for small, regular decorations to have such high requirements is baffling.
I am all for rare and legendary decorations where the return justifies the cost (eg the Whispers Globe and Uzolan’s Orchestra). But, regular plants and lamps?
Love the set up in the pic btw
Monstrously overpriced for me, especially in game which has made such great efforts to improve how MMO’s approach account “bound” and “wide” with items. 1 slot at 700 gems versus 400 for a bag slot (which gives 20 slots essentially) or 600 for a entire bank tab just doesn’t seem right to me, regardless of the extra functionality.
However, they seem to be selling really well at that price, so I’m guessing plenty find them good value.
The bag slot provides the opportunity for 20 inventory slots on a single character; the shared slot allows you to skip going to the bank to use a single item on as many characters as you have. In the extreme, if you have 20 characters, you free up exactly as many slots and you get access to the item without a bank.
To achieve the same effect from adding a bank slot, you’d have to have a copy of the item on every character.
I don’t mean to suggest that you should agree that 700 gems is the ‘right’ price. I do want you to reconsider whether you are comparing apples to apples or to oranges.
I can understand that, I just personally do not attribute the same value to Such a difference in cost in this way. 1 single shared slot is not really convenient enough as a qol extra to justify me spending 700 gems and im not at this time willing to buy 5 in one go to get the discount.
700 gems means me buying 800 for £8.50. I would rather buy adfitional bank space for transferring since 1 single shared slot will not cover my needs. Extra bank space means I can transfer all of what i want, for a lower cost and maybe 30 seconds of my time. 1 shared slot at 700 gems does not provide that value to me.
At the end of the day, if they sell at 700 gems, so be it, good luck to them. The only person who ultimately loses out…is me

A lot of season 1 has been rolled out in the form of fractals, which is a nice compromise.
True, although Nightmare is barely anything like the original. Not saying that as a complaint, I enjoyed the fractal and I appreciate it had to be redesigned to fit, it’s just nothing like the Tower of Nightmares from S1
Completely agree – in fact I added it as a suggestion to the BL thread a few weeks ago. It would def make a great staff skin.
After you kill Vinewrath, the labyrinth opens. There is a WP to the south then a slope leading down to the maze. The POI is in there.
The Pac Man is a ‘cute’ reference to what you encounter in there (ie chased around by invulnerable ghostly mobs whilst collecting things)
You should really look at group finder if you want to find a populated DS map. Join a group and join theirs DS map.
This. Getting into a map with “action” can only occur realistically in one of two ways;
- At the start of the reset (which is fixed, so you can at least plan ahead)
- Using LFG to taxi in.
In game you can use /wiki event timer to see when the HoT metas will be cycling round.
You might want to replay that episode. He was essentially arrested and taken back to the Black Citadel.
He was stripped of his rank, refused multiple summons from his superior officers to return and explain his powerful new magic – in a military/rank based society, it is not inconceivable to expect him to face a court martial or equivalent based on that alone.
I’m not expecting a sudden re-showing from Rytlock just yet.
Also, I agree entirely about the ending of E3 being underwhelming. This was a key moment in Norn Legend and Lore, which got quickly glossed over. That was one of many things that really let E3 down compared to how well S3 was doing so far. Hopefully E4 will expand on this to counter the damage done.

I understand. There’s a couple of amazing shiverpeaks ones I like, but I always forget their names when I come to find them and they aren’t always listed under Shiverpeaks tracks.
Ah nevermind, you found it. Although coincedentally, it is the same as the link I just posted
