It’s not in game because it was designed not to be repeatable. Many warned against this at the time, but it was too late by then. By the time Season 2 had bedded in enough for it to be acknowledged as the framework for moving forward, it was too late to go back and pour a large amount of resources to remake an entire season. It’s isn’t a case of it being programmed so just release it. It has to be reworked to fit the current model (half of S1 was during festivals so that would all need stripping down for starters and changing) and then re-coded to mesh with all the layers of new code and changes that have happened since.

Should it happen? Absolutely. Will it happen? I highly doubt it now.

They tend not to hype and communicate much about forthcoming content anymore. I think they felt they overhyped stuff so now we get a small bit of info then the content launches shortly after. Mike said he wanted to be judged on what they deliver, not by what they hoped to deliver (or something along those lines). He had to make a pretty tough call on the legendaries when production stopped to change direction on them to ensure they could be produced at all. I’m not happy we lost what was proving to be an exciting direction with the collections, but I understand why it was made.

The content has largely been pretty solid, with decent maps and improvements on the story (except the last one imo). I think it will be easier to judge when either the season ends or we know where we are headed with this expac. It feels a bit more like direction has stabilised and things are proceeding better now, rather than chopping and changing due to constant experimentation.

I doubt it. I suspect it will just cycle round for those missing their respective months.

Correct, no pay to win. Infinite tools and salvage are very useful convenience items. You also have extra storage, char slots and makeover kits which are useful to many.

Why can’t we fill the XP indicator for the masteries without MPs? I am still missing some MPs but can not fill the XPs. They are blocked/wasted within the specific mastery-line.

The idea is to fill the one you are working on and progress in order. You gain xp, gain mastery points, unlock. And then repeat for the next line in a logical, linear progression order.

If you could gain all the xp and then hunt down the mastery points after, it would be a rather short progression system. This system is based on something the community asked for in a very long winded discussion that took place on the forums prior to the expac being announced. They wanted something that they could build on over time. The Mastery system fulfilled that request.

Ascended can be obtained as either weapons, armours or jewellery (mode dependant) from the following.

- WvW
- Fractals
- Raids
- Open World bosses
- Crafting
- Collections in pve
- New maps vendors
- Achievements, especially in story modes.
- laurels (login rewards)
- Guild Missions

I’m sure more ways will be added as time goes on, but there are plenty of ways at the moment.

I would think so. Some of the really old ones were inserted recently into the rotated loot table for BL chests w/o the need for tickets. I would just be prepared for a significant wait.

I’d love to see fishing in the game – it’s a favourite chillout time past time in a few MMo’s I play.

There isn’t an easier way, however certain tracks only play in certain zones, so that will allow you to narrow it a little.

Edge of Destiny is poorly written, but full of interesting lore and is at least enjoyable from an action based point of view. It sets up a lot of characters. Think of it as a shallow, but fun blockbuster/Michael Bay film

Sea of Sorrows I found to be the most boring and uninteresting. It’s reasonably well written for a game tie in, but the main character himself is dull and bland and the story suffers as a result. The supporting characters are much more interesting. The rising of Zhaitan early on was the only interesting bit of the story for me.

Ghosts of Ascalon is by far and away the best of the 3 imo. I would love to see more of Dougal Keane in the game.

Surely that’s what the gobblers are for – an infinite use for them, which is far better than the smaller or one shot sinks we currently have.

S2 sets up HoT. In fact HoT takes place immediately after the final scene in S2, so it is well worth playing. There are some hit and miss elements to S2 as the writers change direction and start going in a better direction from S1 and the God awful personal story, but when it is good, it’s some of the best they have done (chapter 5 is outstanding for eg)

They are a cosmetic toy, not at all supposed to be useful.

There is likely 0 chance of stats or auras – if only because it would be a huge amount of work to go through such a backlist of minis and add stats/auras dependant on a mini. Plus the minis would need to re-coded for a purpose not originally made for. Not worth the unnecessary time and effort.

I could envision a title or exclusive pet based on your catalogue, but I would doubt it’s something they would go back and add at this stage.

I harvest the verdant brink flax farm spot daily on all toons. Each toon almost always gets 1-2 fibres a day from the patch. You can also get them from jungle plants.

Not sure really how 600 has only got you 2, but always ensure you use gathering buffs – that will help.

No one would suggest it should be, it just makes no sense the Grenth and Dwayna ones are obtainable and the Lyssa ones aren’t. Even if the Lyssa is added to the same drop table as the other two, that would be just as good.

There is a lfg sub section for rpers. Mostly they stick to various RP specific Guilds afaik. I see a few every now and again out in the open world, usually in lower level maps.

I helped a guildie with this mask just last week. It’s still accessed by doing one of the event chains from the South.

Once the South Waypoint is clear, you follow the Exalted who is just east of the waypoint. You then do a series of events including I think it is 3 where you take down what appear to be some kind of egg sac. After that, the exalted will go to the vines and once you have defended him, the vines drop and he will activate the pylon, leaving the area open for you to collect the mask.

If you make a new character in a new slot, it starts from scratch with the exception of any unlocked skins, or achievements. Your other character(s) remain as they are unless you actively delete them yourself.

In Lions Arch, you can speak to an NPC by the BL Trading post and they will allow you to preview all the changes you can make to a character without having a total makeover kit. Try before you buy kinda deal.

You need hero points for your elite spec. Hero points are worth 1 point in Core Tyria and 10 points in Heart of Thorns maps.

There is no correct answer as to what you should do reaching level 80. There are various options;

- work towards a build. Including unlocking elites, getting the armour and weapon stats appropriate to your build, perhaps even working towards ascended (long term goal).

- work on your story. I have no idea where you are up to, but you have the personal story, season 2, HoT and season 3. Plus all the current events related to the latest story.

- pvp or wvw. Once you have nailed your builds, you can start running these for fun or rewards

- fractals. There’s a whole area of progression in these dungeons to be explored.

- explore. You have all of Core Tyria and HoT just to roam and explore. You’ll tick a lot of things off just doing this, including your hero points.

Dulfy’s site is the most used guide for all content. It’s not always the most efficient or accurate, but it’s arguably the best single accumulation of guides for GW2 there is. And it’s well laid out and easy to use. She also has the boss timers on there, although you can also use /wiki event timers command in the in game chat bar to call up a timer.

Dailies are accessed from your daily menu in the Hero Panel. Press H and it will appear in there, along with all your collections, achievements, story journal and all round general progression stuff.

The fractals/raids subforum has some recruiting guilds. if you sift through the complaining threads you will also find plenty of players and guilds willing to train new players through raids (you will need Heart of thorns expansion for raids and some associated HoT masteries as well I suspect).

The game is very open ended in terms of what you can “do”. The mistake many make is thinking there is a set end game like in say WoW. There isn’t here, which is why it is so attractive to so many ppl. In terms of what you can aim at, I’ve suggested some things below dependant on your playstyle;

- Instances (Fractals/raids – fractals have a decent progression system and difficulty tiering system)

- Achievements and collections. There are hundreds of these to invest in across all game modes. Whether it is skin sets, explorables, pvp related, crafting progressions, certain quests – there is plenty to invest time in

- Legendary weapons/backpacks (and soon armour)

- PvE Story mode

- Ascended tier gear (required for fractals, otherwise just an aim players like to go for)

- PvP. There are ranked Seasons going on atm and they do them 4-5 times a year

- WvW. A persistent mass siege/pvp game mode. Hasn’t evolved much from the early days, but many invest a great deal of time to it. The introduction of reward tracks encouraged more to get back into it.

I think one has. The one by Fort Salma now seems to be usable and it wasnt before.

Fears, knockbacks are easily counterable using the gun you pick up and stun breaks from your own skill bar. And that’s an intentional design.

The biggest change I think is needed is a tightening up of phase 2 so that saving the golems and what they actually do becomes more meaningful and less about stacking to one side.

Overall the fight is fine and works, it just needs some tweaking. I;d rather any overhauls were reserved for a new Claw fight in a later zone.

New maps are always geographically different from the overhead. They already said previously they don’t take into account what the concept “fogging” is like from the launch map when they design new maps. Ember Bay was a recent example – they even increased the distance between islands in a separate patch just after it launched.

It’s casual friendly in that regard. There is virtually no gear grind or need to keep up with everyone else. It rewards loyalty via daily rewards/gold and by non-expac content being free if you log in during their release period, but that’s about the highest level of obligation it gets.

The storyline itself is very short, but it is artificially lengthened by being gated behind masteries, which means you need spend time doing events in each map before progressing. I would say HoT main story is shorter than s2, but that doesn’t take into account all the little side stories told through events in each map.

It is difficult to put a time frame on how long it will take. Certainly the maps will take some time to explore and complete, especially with all the metas, collections, achievements and the unique way maps are set up compared to core maps.
