You can use custom exchange to buy what you need?
Ok, a lot of people have some resentment for the Ancient Karka event. But these people are making a common mistake. They’re letting the negative feelings of the bugs and disconnections distract from how epic the actual event was. From start to finish, it was a fun filled time. All the Devs took the time to play with us on the many server maps.
Now onto other topics of concern. There are some who feel that 1-time events exclude players. Well yes, that’s the point of the event. If you’re dedicated enough to plan ahead to participate, you’re rewarded handsomely. These events are like in-game bonuses that don’t affect the story or the economy. There can, or perhaps should be, some permanent world change to showcase said event. Something like a broken tower as a reminder of the huge battle that took place. Even something as minor like the Ancient Karka becoming part of the environment.
This suggestion is merely a way to give dedicated players something to enjoy. 90% of this game is Casual friendly. Events that cater to the 1%ers is just a way for Anet to give back.
I still don’t see how a one time event benefits the 1%ers. I play this everyday. WHat if I can’t make that one single hour of the event? Am I relegated out of this “1%” club?
There is no gain, no benefit to the players or the devs who have to put a massive amount of hard work into something gone almost immediately, that can justify having a one time event.
If the point as you say is that it will exclude players deliberately, then that is even worse. To knowingly shut out 99% of your playerbase is not something any company would be willing to do.
Life always comes first. You can plan ahead and then something comes up and you have to miss. All that dedication and month’s worth of planning you quote will mean nothing whatsoever if suddenly you go ill or have to run a family member somewhere at the last minute.
Was the Karka event fun? Removing the lag and disconnect stuff, yes. Would it have been equally fun if it was on a repeatable loop? Without question, yes it would have been.
There was a dev response about why they can’t implement this. If I find it, I’ll post it. It’s quite a large undertaking apparently.
Out of curiosity, why are y’all hitting the alt key anyway. I know I never do.
If you need it for skills, why not remap the "show ally’ to some other key?
Alt allows you to see your allies in the middle of the action when so much is going on you can’t see for excessive particle effects. Instead of reducing clutter, they have added to it. It also looks utterly unsightly when it’s up due to the unnatural way it has added.
There are two options they should have gone when developing;
- Bind this to another key. There is no reason it needed to be part of Alt.
- Have it as a toggled option
Most MMO’s with floaty names keep it separate. For eg at least 2 MMO’s, F1 puts up a more natural looking floaty name and also shows it up the top of the screen. At no point would it be viewable in combat. A similar key (obv not F1) would have worked here.
I use Alt an enormous amount. This is an annoyance which never needed to occur. A minor one in the grand scheme of things, but an annoyance which could have been circumvented.
As for using Alt for combat, well yes that easily fixed with the options we have.
There is not sadly. They bizarrely implemented it without a toggle in the options.

Most dont disagree with you it seems
Can you see your own gold star now too?
No
Discussed this yesterday? The thread is 2 hours old.
Not that bit Only 2 ppl in the game
A couple of small threads, I wouldn’t say it was frequently asked fo.r There’s no reason not to have this as optional regardless if I’m wrong on that
What about those who didn’t want it?
Also, you and I are the only 2 ppl here, we discussed this yesterday

Happened to my guild friend. It crashed for a second ago after patch and is now downloading again. EU/UK, Gunnars Hold
More than happy to help if on an EU server – I did it yesterday on my Guardian. As for tips, I’m not sure what to suggest, since I don;t recall anything problematic about it. What profession are you playing and what quality gear do you have on?
The difficulty of storylines only go up from there though. S2 is much, much harder than most of the Personal Story and that seems to carry on into HoT from what I played in the Beta
I’d be surprised if the drop was upped by any noticeable amount. To Anet as an overview, they will see it, but to the ordinary player, I doubt we will.
I understand that Drow, but many of us don’t want the clutter. We’ve been fine w/o it for 3 years and we’ve not missed it.
However, if it needs to exist and I don’t agree it does, then it must, absolutely must, have an option to disable. Everyone wins that way.
Don’t worry, they added more clutter by adding in the visual of your own name. So if you press alt to find where ppl are or mobs are…you now get more things on the screen.
Yes agreed. Would rather not see my own name. There’s enough visual clutter as it is. I understand people wanting the feature, but it should have an option box.
There is no benefit to forcing this on a player. After all, I am well aware of what my own characters name is…
This happens on every patch when a large amount of ppl try patching at once. It’s annoying..but it will resolve itself (well normally it does)
I was at at launch and headstsart but I don’t remember it. How did you get one back then?
I don’t see how being a one time event will fulfill the hunger for hard content. That makes no logical sense at all. HoT is bringing what ppl have asked for – harder mobs in the jungle and raids. These haven’t even launched yet and people are clamouring for more hard content.
One time events are not popular. It wasn’t just the lag and disconnects which people hated about Karka, is was the limited time of it. It created a bad rep for the company which it took quite some time to dispel. I’m pretty certain that is a route they didn’t want to go back down, especially given the high development cost and work effort, for something temporary. I think many had enough of that during S1 – just look at the continued clamouring for S1 to be brought back. Temporary content is a no no.
Whilst I respect you have put in contingencies for those who can’t join and have fleshed out your proposal, the idea has very little merit. You want it to push everyone to their limits, but want it all inclusive and one time only. Three things that cannot mesh.
The game doesn’t need one time events, it will be highly detrimental to it and the gain to the “living world” will not outweigh the enormous issues it will cause. What the game needs is what HoT seems to be bringing and then to build on that in all future content and arguably some core content as well.

Thanks, now I feel dumb for doing all that lmao. At least I didn’t do the other borderland areas.
It’s not that dumb. It was mandatory to get all 3 borderlands + EB for a long while, but it was changed to needing none due to feedback
Once you hit 80, you will be going back and forth across every zone in the game rather than stuck in 1 or 2 like traditional MMO’s.
Because of the sheer number of core zones, you wont be directed to all of them, but they exist out there for you to explore, find new achievements, collections, jumping puzzles, bosses, new events etc etc. It makes a refreshing change, but is different from the run of the mill MMO experience (which is why many of us came here)
I’d happily give you mine if I could. I certainly don’t remember earning 35. 10-15 maybe at best unless it includes a daily chest too, which might make the tally right. Still felt like more than I calculated.
There is a blip granted, but you have to remember with GW2 is that the map levels are fairly inconsequential (except where its too high for you). Where it points you to lower zones, what it is trying to do is demonstrate that those zones are still of value because you are scaled down to its level. That keeps it relevant regardless of your own level and thus it breaks with tradition and creates its own evolution
The being sent to higher levels is an odd foible of the game that has existed since launch. Ive never encountered it, but have known a few who have it stumped them a bit (I spent so long in each zone I was always well behind a levels recommended bracket)
THanks Gaile! Any update on whether blooms will be part of future events when you asked?
All we know for sure is that a great number of people signed up when HoT was announced and when it went f2p. We know this because they said they had a huge influx and that support were running behind on tickets because of it.
That means 2 huge influxes this year alone.
Retention wise? Impossible to say, although logically if the entire influx had vanished, there is every reason in this day and age we would have heard more about that or seen evident signs.
The zones are populated. Bosses old and new are packed (Ive never seen so many at Dwayna as I have recently), starter zones are bustling. That is all the evidence we can give since no statistical info is forthcoming.
I’d bank them until Gaile replies later about the future token situation. She said she’d ask about it.
I play. And I heard that this other guy over in eu plays, though I’ve never met him.
That’s me….helloooo!!
Hi! How’s the imaginary people population doing over there? Theses swarms of them on this side of the water.
(I hope you’re not another imaginary person talking to me. I hate when that happens)
They did an amazing job of killing Dwayna. It’s like having 100 henchies follow me into battle! I have to summon new ones when I zone and start a new boss though. Poor design imo.
The merchant is in the Priory.
You need that pre-loaded as a macro by this point
Yep cheers for the blooms. We were doing Ascalon p1 just as it arrived. If it is any consolation, the weekend event wasn’t half as disastrous as our run went…
I play. And I heard that this other guy over in eu plays, though I’ve never met him.
That’s me….helloooo!!
Im confused. If you have blocked them, they cant spam you. Repeated messages are multiple spammers or same person, diff accounts. There would no way to block multiple spams in the way you’d suggest.
As Gaile stated in her posts, try the Priory
One Pirate Captain outfit purchased!
“Ohh you have a woman’s purse M’Lord..!”
- Deep Oceans – deep sea diving, sailing
I’d love a full on sailing system, not just a jump in water, press space and pull out a canoe.
I can hear the Hawaii 5-0 music now..
Kill all Charr you say? You have my axe!!

Hey… we’ve got another one. Bring the kits around, they’re about to see a historical re-enactment… The part where we won.
I SOOO want a new fractal that’s playing the flip side of the Ascalon fractal – everyone turns into a human and you fight a series of battles falling back to the courtyard where you finally get a ‘kill as many as you can before you die’ event with endlessly escalating waves of Charr.
I would never leave that fractal…
If these gvg guild halls are implemented in such a way, Im sure I could envisage Human Vs Charr battles happening through the guilds. That would be awesome
Do you get season two if you upgrade to HoT?

You do not get S2 with HoT, that is a separate purchase

In other words, there’s no logical reason to use it?
It does have some uses in upgrading materials – mats, dyes, minis etc. Plus people use the specific recipes to make skins to use or sell on the tp
I throw rare weapons in and salvage rare armours. In the last year that’s netted me 2 precursors. But, that’s me playing the lottery in a way that I feel I don;t lose out.
But for me, someone who got into mmorpgs with Anarchy Online…
We both got into the genre from the same game
I still delve in to get those last few HoM points. Its different and aged, but still absolutely playable. The stories in the first 2 campaigns are arguably worse than what we get here (in terms of story construction rather than the actual story arcs), but it is all still very enjoyable.
And completely soloable in almost everything pve with the ground breaking addition of heroes
Tomorrow is Tuesday!
and Wednesday comes afterwards.
Rumour has it of a mysterious Thursday…but I have yet to see proof of this.
It would make sense to have a teaser today. A 3rd BWE1 must be due end of this month to give them time to finish collating and implementing feedback. To do that, the last 2 elites must be due imminently
Think about where we could feasibly go on the map and then use your imagination as to what masteries we could get.
For example;
- Northern Shiverpeaks – Skiing or sleighing
- Deep Oceans – deep sea diving, sailing
Perhaps survival skills vs blizzards/cold (Shiverpeaks) or versus the heat undergound (vs Primordus) or further survival skills in the deep seas.
We have no idea what they have planned, but the set up and potential is huge for what they move onto from here
It would be so far off as to be something no one will be thinking of. The potential in GW2 is huge and we’ve seen that old MMO’s, when successful can go on for nearly 15 years in some cases. There’s no reason to believe a GW3 is on the horizon when they haven’t scratched the surface of this game. What can GW3 bring beyond some re-styling? Sure it can add new tech like DX12 compatability, but then ppl will be clamouring for the next tech anyway regardless.
MMO’s also take quite a lot longer to make/develop. To even release in the next 5 years or so would require them to be working on it now. GW2 went through a long and drawn out development process as it was.
I would be surprised to see a GW3 within the next decade. Or perhaps they will take a leaf out of Valve’s book and decide that “3” should never happen…
Press the backwards arrow below their post that says “quote this user”. You can then edit what you quote in the preview screen that comes up, so long as you leave the brackets in the correct positions
I found some of the discounts exceptional. Certainly no disaster or any equivalent description from what I could see.
It was merged into the main [Suggestion] Gemstore Items thread a week or 2 back
I mean, ones that they will respond to, like a conversation or something – specifically about profession mechanics.
The developers read the forums every day. And they start or participate in profession-specific threads on a regular basis. If that is your interest, go to the forum for the profession you’d like to discuss and post in a thread where you see the red “ArenaNet logo.”
But…
A few developers/designers mentioned to me on Friday that they will be posting profession-specific threads very soon, perhaps as soon as tomorrow. These will be an “after BWE #2” view. So you may want to hold your feedback for that thread, because it’s more relevant to share feedback after the Beta Weekend Events and after you see what the devs have in mind for the future based on beta player’s input and their own observations.
That is good news. I think everyone found the dev communication post-BWE1 constructive and useful

They changed the system for acquiring
Bringing back the event itself is absolutely fine. I have no issues with that. It’s the “same prices” comment I replied about.
In the event this is a serious thread, the company has been overwhelmed with complaints, with Anet themselves issuing an apology about the event. Why would they release it again next weekend with the same reward prices? That would be nuts!
