Where’s the CDI?
Those screenshots made my day.
Just a question here because I am curious. The idea of the Living World is that there is a storyline that you take part in, that you are involved in events that shape Tyria in permanent ways—how would you all convey the sense of progression and change without also making changes to the landscape? I see a couple of comments regarding creating things, not simply destroying. Do you all have any other ideas?
There’s u’re problem. U keep on asking about alternatives when ppl clearly want a break from the destroy part. The destroy part is good..but when we’ve had that for 2 years now don’t u think it’s getting kinda boring?
It’s like u choose the easy way out (u already have the zone and the objective..just mess with it a bit) instead of actually creating something new and positive from scratch. More new maps….HEAL FREAKING ORR!!! and stuff like that…massive POSITIVE changes from time to time. Or if u want destruction create a new map for that don’t alter literally EVERY existing map just to slack.
Yes i completely agree with the OP here. It’s very frustrating and honestly with all your hard work put in the destruction of already existing content, it doesn’t make us feel like “oh look something new”….because we already know the zones. If u already know a zone (specially low level zones which just a handful care about)..whatever u do to it negatively will not impress us in a good way on the long run. Low level maps that have been altered are only visited by fresh players who have no clue wtf happened and think it’s been like that since the start.
U give us no sense of progression with all this “destruction”. My impact on the world should be a positive one….instead for 2 years, everything i did and went to..destruction followed. It’s boring..dumb and stupid all in one. It’s like a bad plot movie.

Check the Rytlock wallpaper from the past living story.
It’s nice to see the Trade Post go out of beta after 2 years.
Now i am waiting for improvements to the non-beta version.
I actually anticipated that right off the bat….. was expecting the QQ waves to come in.
Personally i am kinda chill about it because everything ANet did was expected of them and personally didn’t expect more
Found other games to play.
Hey…hey…hey…..atleast SIMS gets DLC content that not only improves but actually puts in a lot of content that appeals to everyone that plays ok?
Don’t insult SIMS please
Man, that mini-pet change is so exciting and relevant.
Specially in WvW where pets will clearly dominates lower tiers.
DANG IT man..u literally made me spill my coffee
All i’ve seen so far are “niche improvements”…as in “pet people get this…..skin people get that…x people get that”…and overall at the end of the day everyone will feel like they didn’t get enough for their wait.
Too little things offered for too long of a wait. They address niches problems of the community instead of addresing big problems that effect the majority of the community.
For me personally this feature patch doesn’t equal much…..i still don’t understand the massive marketing behind such small things that use already existing systems. Is this similar to “people with small di*** say they have big ones just to get over their complexity” thing? Seems very similar.
…eh anyway….back to playing other games.
“So telling us about the precursors was not a bad moove, but you should have explained that to implement it you need more time and that you need to implement some other things before. That’s why we won’t see it soon, and instead we’ll see many other things coming. But at some point we will have it”
They did say that over the course of several interviews since that announcement…i have to give them that.
Problem is u know ppl want that..u know u made a promise to deliver it…instead u deliver dumb content nobody cares about and market it as vital to the process of delivering precursor crafting. I am sorry but it took way to much time from the announcement to the release of the precursor crafting. It’s just unacceptable in our day and time. It’s like literally ANet has 1 employee..otherwise i can’t imagine why precursor crafting would take this long.
…this (and other features we wanted but never got delivered) gave us the impression (for good reason) they put our needs on the very bottom of the To Do list, instead making what THEY and they alone, in a very small office, a handfull of ppl think what’s best for millions of players. Ironic….and the saddest thing i’ve seen from any mmo company to date.
(edited by Rebound.3409)
This is the perfect example of “we know what u want better then u know” we’ve gotten 2 years now.
I am predicting a shtstorm of biblical proportions by the end of next week…..and i have no popcorn left.

The intent of the Renown Heart system was originally to help players find event content. They also provide a decent method for us to give the player some context and awareness of what’s going on in the area. There are probably a few issues in that design which we could discuss. We could also let it suffice to say that hearts do not make the best repeatable content the game has to offer.
On the topic of keeping players engaged with open world content, I think this goal may be for more approachable from a different angle. Consider Dry Top, which has no hearts. Players on that map are participating in events all the time, largely on the premise that each event contributes to both map-level and personal-level goals. This gives me the notion that with a little help at the system level, events can and should be the bulk of repeatable open world content in Tyria.
I’d be very interested in hearing your thoughts on that.
My personal problem with this system is the lack of visibility. Hearts are there on the map when u open it. U know where it is..u go there.
Events..if u are not in the vicinity u won’t know where it takes place. This is specially annoying to new players and to players who don’t overfarm just 1 map and know every event spawn.
In Dry Top for example u will always see ppl mapchat “please link events” because of that very reason…and the sad part is most of the times ppl don’t link them even when nicely asked…OR people port to Dry Top a few minutes after the event was linked and nobody links it again.
The system u have now is great in my opinion but u need to make it visible on the map. Otherwise both u and us won’t fully profit from this system. Make the event-circles visible from any side of the map instead of just 1-2 meters away from it.
Opening the map and seeing it filled with circles gives u the impression “hey there’s stuff to do!” instead of opening up the map and wandering where the event takes place and so on…or be at the mercy of mapchat to link u the location, but i told u the problems with that above.
The text about “Whatever scorpion spawned” u added doesn’t help that much u still get ppl asking where it is (specially ppl who just came). Also that text dissapears very fast and it’s color honestly most of the times i just miss it because of it’s color.

We’ve had a dead of your thread.
We like what we see, and a lot of what you’re saying is on the table.
Haha ANet see? exactly this^
Even your robotic answers to our endless requests are not taken seriously. That’s what it has come to….almost nothing u say regarding things we want to see in this game is being taken seriously because of the fact u didn’t deliver or delivered to little to late by choosing to deliver things we never asked for or didn’t consider priority.
That’s how bad it’s gotten. Instead of seeing ppl say “wow nice they will do it” now we see just mockery. I am really sad about it actually. It should never have gotten to this point…not with how GW1 was and how GW2 started.
(edited by Rebound.3409)
Postponing something only comes into play when u say (promise) to deliver something at a certain time then not being able to deliver it. Otherwise if there is no time/date to break, then there’s no postponing to be made :P
At least that’s how i see it. Anyway yea we are on the exact same page when it comes down to the message we want to send.
I think one of the reasons Anet doesn’t make future announcements anymore is because as soon as they say “we’re working on X” or “we’re looking into the possibility of Y” half a year later people will start complaining “you promised us X and Y, where are they?
”
And isn’t that normal? I don’t see the issue here.
U know the community wants X…….u promise to give X….u make X your priority and u deliver it when u say…not replace X with Y and expect the community to feel good about the replacement while indefinitely postpone X.
A company that promises a car and delivers a bike postponing indefinitely the car, seems like a serious company to u? To me it doesn’t. So them loosing our trust after numerous similar situations is only natural.
The sentiment of having to know “what they plan on doing” is exactly because they didn’t give us what we want (or be years late…i mean seriously…WvW feature pack 3 new colors hard to add bro..took 2 years). It’s like wanting to verify they actually put our needs/demands/requests on their list. That’s the whole source of the problem.
If i knew that what i want would definitely come in the promised timeframe or atleast see work done on it, i would never even think of their roadmap.
(edited by Rebound.3409)
@Inverted it’s not at all about that. Players didn’t mass rage because of those things..they raged because of the monster pile of content the players want and ANet successfully does stuff they think we want instead or do at an extremely slow passe by putting things THEY consider we should like, over things we ask for.
The SAB and dungeons and other things were just the tip of the iceberg….the last draw if u want…that put on tilt the community. Things piled up…and it spilled at that interview.
Them developing what THEY and they alone think WE might like/accept and almost NEVER meet expectations or is way to LATE, will always indicate that they either don’t listen to us or they put our needs/wishes at the very bottom on the list….because u know… “they know better”. That would have been the case in the first months of the game but not now….not in the game’s current state.
That’s why ppl don’t trust interviews..CDI’s and whatever form of communication they might throw at us and generally are taken as being BS of biblical proportions..because literally every bit of experience we had with them led to dissapointment in regards to what we want over what they think we want.
The changes that did come from CDI’s are so little and so late it’s actually ironical they use it as a pretext “look we listened”. It’s like telling a guy not to shoot u, and after he discharges 200 bullets in u, he comes to your corpse saying “hey look, i listened…i stopped”.
In my opinion the link between ANet and it’s community is definitely broken…repairing it will be almost impossible with the policy they have atm and the image they created about themselves…and will only get worst in time if they continue like this.
(edited by Rebound.3409)
@Colin … one word…. EXPANTION … period. It’s been asked so many times it’s actually funny how desperately ppl want to throw money at u and u don’t seem to want to accept it.
For a guaranteed successful mmo model…LIVING STORY should be considered a BUFFER (nothing more) between major expansions. LS should NOT be considered the only type of content we receive because it’s simply not enough..altho LS2 is 10x better then what we got in LS1.
Game release – LS – Game expansion – LS – Game expansion and so on.
This way u not only give us a ton of content in one go which will keep us playing and discovering, but u also give us small stories/content like LS provides us now to make the time between large expansions not seem so painful.
Anything other then this i am personally 101% positive will never satisfy the community however much u work on it.
It’s obviously because u listen to “Ice ice baby”. Delete that melody it should work fine.
There should be a balance….to little text ppl will not take seriously…to much text ppl won’t even bother.
As for your Great Wall of Text about something that has been stated in almost countless threads so far. The game needs an expansion
LS in my opinion is just the buffer between major content expansions.
…and noo i didn’t read even the first paragraph of what u said, it’s just a hunch. Your text is bigger then most patch notes ANet gave us.
I honestly don’t think that is possible…altho i would love to have that. The game isn’t built for that. It would mean building it from 0 almost.
No.
/15 chars on an asura
like the CDIs gonna change something…
U have to be on top of the special people list to not notice the changes made according to what ppl said in CDIs. They didn’t do all of them for obvious reasons even a dead horse could understand, but they did do a big part of them.
As for choosing..i say do it like this:
Anet makes a list of what they think should be discussed, and from that list of max 5 topics we vote on the one we want to discuss atm. Voting can be done via straw voting. This way everyone wins.
PS. That list should NOT evade “important for the community” topics like expansions, precursors, Cantha…RAIDS and things like these…because these topics are the ones that have been on the mind of the community since the start without any answer or foreseeable answer which naturally leads to the lack of transparency feeling.
If WE (anet+community) fail to communicate on the topics above stated, that have had hundreds of topics created each, it will either keep the no-transparency-feeling or make it worst REGARDLESS of how many CDIs u do. U have to take responsibility over the community demands and give straight answers….not evade answers. Evading means no transparency instantly.
It’s about time u guys stop doing what u think is right for the game and start listening to what your community thinks is right for the game. If a huge part of the community wants/is interested in something u need to heavily discus THAT something, not evade it.
(edited by Rebound.3409)
I have to say i wasn’t expecting a thread like this specially with this level of communication…aka not robot answers but actual human text.
Those are great ideas overall but here is my opinion on the matter. It’s not ONLY about how much we talk and how much u take in consideration..because i am perfectly aware that even if an idea we put on the forums is so good u can’t sleep at night thinking about it, that doesn’t mean it will be implemented any time soon because of very understandable (from my POV) order of priorities, funds and so on.
What i am very interested in is, AT LEAST 1 time/year to have a nice page created with ALL u intend and very important WILL do in the future. What things have u decided by yourselves or together with the community to 100% implement and ETA!!!!
=
I mean yea..having a dev answer and keep track in every thread is definitely awesome and shows that u guys care and take notice of the things we say….but the most lack of transparency the community feels is the lack of information about the future.
Too much “soon™” which equals nothing and honestly a big slap to the face for players, and too less “we will do this, in this amount of time u will 100% have it”.
This is my own personal opinion at least.
Ex:
When will we get precursor quests/craft (fact not fiction).
When will we see Cantha (to this date the most commented/viewed thread has not gotten an answer…even if “yea we will do it but not sure when”)
Will we get a proper (payed or not) expansion separate to the LS? If yes …before GW3?
These 3 questions are the biggest that we didn’t get an answer so far….regardless of how many hundreds of threads/posts we make. This mmo is 2 years old now. Even if u like it or not, it NEEDS a proper hugeass expansion.
These are the kind of questions that get unanswered or “soon™” that literally pisoff the community so much and make it feel like there’s no transparency.
=
Indicating u are listening to us doesn’t mean indicating u will do it and the ETA that’s the problem. We need valid indication things we ask for are priority and are getting done with an established ETA…and smaller things are either did in parallel or ignored till we get the big stuff we ask for for months/years now.

Out of all the minis, the one that definitely stands out the most is mini-liadri for the simple reason that it’s covered in a dark cloud animation. I can’t tell u about it’s height compared to other minis because i didn’t study it…but i can tell u it will definitely catch the attention because of the constant animation.
As for the size…always go for an asura if u want the mini to seem very big.
Cancer and Aids have been laundering money for decades now on a global scale. I haven’t seen a valid and fully functional antidote for any of them. I have seen the heads of those charities run in Mercedes to their huge houses.
I lost count of how many times i read that.
That being said…… i am not against having actual cool gifts. Would be crazy not to want…but u know…ANet puts everything that has even a small potential of being cool directly in the gem store….so i honestly don’t have high expectations.
If i am proven wrong i will honestly be happy.
(edited by Rebound.3409)
what will we get guys ?
has to be awsome surely ?
250 black lion keys each ?
let the specualtion begin lol
After reading this i have a feeling u warn’t here for the first years anniversary….
….let’s just say u have better chances at ending world hunger by shaking hands with an alien that lands his spaceship in the middle of LA to take an autograph of Obama.
Most likely a mini that 90% of the community doesn’t use or care about…multiplied by X number of character slots u have + 1 xp boost because in this game it’s extremely hard to levelup … and a few marketing biblical BS paragraphs about how proud they are about the community…how they listen to us…..and about plans they will never fulfill or will fulfill after years.
….oh and a wallpaper.
Standard stuff
I was lucky enough to have some tokens left from back when i did fractals when they put them in…but yea i understand your pain. Fractals overall is a failed experiment they don’t want to let go of…so they want to force u to play it by making it seem it’s important to the story.
Some of these threads…………….
That is probably the bigest downside this game will have going in the future. Dx9 engine.
As long as it doesn’t require gems in any way shape or form Anet will not consider it. Sry
If Anet does indeed think about this, be sure u will have to feed it gems in order to possibly have an extremely rare chance to get a yellow item.
I can’t recall of an MMO that allows modding at this level. Only single players that have most of their files local allow u and even those are limited.
People who think they are white knights…will feel it most when prices go up on the AH :P
PS. Never exploited this. But after reading all the posts here the biggest QQ kids around here are the ppl trolling inside the circle honestly…specially after seeing how highly they think of themselves after doing it. Correct way was to just open a topic….report the bug and that’s it.
Anyway… get ready for prices to go up haha
@Anet u make a game in which everything at endgame depends on how rich u are but most players are poor and/or can’t honestly make enough money (playing normal hours/day) to enjoy the game at end-game without farming like a bot and expect people to be nontoxic when they find a way to work together in order to make a bit of gold.
This all falls on your shoulders and your decision to make everything in this game require more grinding for basically anything, then korean mmos. The only reason i don’t report exploits like these is because of the biblical grindfest this game has become and u basicly deserve your game to be exploited in such ways, atleast until u learn a hard lesson. Not to mention the last Living Story updates which could have easily be renamed into Lumberjack Simulator 2014.
(edited by Rebound.3409)
I watched the cinematic….i didn’t hear/see (subtitles) “There is more than one.” but i did see something resembling an egg. It first appeared when the lights started shooting from the ground..the egg shape “formed” in the middle light and then fell. Then it showed it surrounded by crystals.
If it is indeed an egg….someone explain the nature of those crystals. It looks more like a kracaltorik egg if judging by the crystals.
My verdict is waffles.
So this thread is about your personal inability to finish solo an event in this game?
….it’s an mmo…u have issues..party up with someone
If u compare what we received till today to a full-fledged expansion a regular mmo gets, we didn’t get that much specially considering the first almost 2 years were temporary content + a few bug fixes + a few UI tweaks.
But in their defense Season 2 of LS is definitely a huge improvement story wise and it started introducing permanent content + so far released 1 full new map that is actually enjoyable and has interesting mechanics.
That said…it’s still not enough. This game really needs an expansion that introduces multiple zones, dungeons, hearts, quests, mobs, even races/armors, RAIDS, craftable precursors and stuff like this ALL AT ONCE. It’s been 2 years now and the game more or less is in a very similar overall state to what it was back when it was released even with all the changes i listed above.
I still don’t understand why ANet is so against a proper expansion that would 100% bring in a ton of money and also give people enough new impactful and visible stuff that would keep them occupied.
ANet started doing LS the way it should be…but in my eyes LS should be considered a BUFFER between major expansions. Only then will i consider ANet has achieved something remarkable in the mmo genre because that would literally mean continuous content that keeps u 24/7 interested in the game offering both small changes and huge changes at the same time. Right now the content keeps u ingame 1-2 days. The rest u can forget about GW2 untill the next LS release and so on, honestly.
(edited by Rebound.3409)
Money makes the world go round…world go round…world go round…
The rich can afford anything while the poor QQ in a dark corner about how money doesn’t bring happiness.
Ahammm….don’t we destroy one of those blodestone thingies during one of the Arah paths, being the last boss of that particular path?
The 1st birthday gifts were very underwhelming. I ended up with 9 Queen Jennahs etc. What were they thinking? After the good feedback from GW1 where you got a chance of many different minis, why did they change this?
I hope they will alter the rewards this time around.
This year u get a very small chance at getting a very special mini from the BL chest. U just need to buy keys for the gemstore.
…oh and it’s limited time
Just enough to finish the story + achievements…so about 2 days?! something like that. The rest of the game is to boring so i did other stuff.
Yes, new mini pale tree will be in the gemstore. Sylvari survive.
U need the town rebuilt first.
It’s only logical that thing appears at ommad’s machine because the WP repair machine which interracts with that huge mage above, is also there. That machine just disturbed all magic thingies at the WP central thingy.
Playing the game…..literally….in any way.
Go WvW in zergs
Go make map completitions
Go zerg events in new maps
Go make LS stories with zergs when they come out
Go do dungeons repetitively.
All of them are very good.
I am almost positive it will be rebuilt. The standard NPCs are back for some time now and we did gather donations from the last event, specially to rebuild it. Even the queen jumped in to help. Not sure when it will be rebuilt..but i think it will eventually.
As for the form of the rebuilt LA….it would literally be the saddest thing in this game, if it were to come back in the exact same form
The whole rytlock-rox-mutehero(us) in the LS was very interesting and raised some questions both new and on existing stuff u might have knew about them.
Also related to what the OP said, i knew from the start something will go wrong with the ritual…and i think Rytlock also was aware of that. Maybe that’s why he broke the ties with Rox (she’s on her own bla bla), before the ritual? Like a “you go on without me…i might not come back” thing (but said in his own typical cuddly way)….just so she can move on without him, in case something happens.
Also the fact he told us (the mute hero) that we should ask her for more details on why he let her go or something similar, at the end if i remember correctly….like something he didn’t want to confess in front of everyone & her.
Anyway personally the whole Rytlock-Rox thing (before and after the fight) was filled with emotion both good and sad. Out of all the stories i am personally very interested in this one.
(edited by Rebound.3409)
What do u mean? Non-dps is very important during dialogues.
That was one of the better done LS story solo boss fights we’ve had in this game so far (even tho that statue is the miniboss u fight with the charr in the tutorial stage)….and besides this, it required sheep-level gaming experience to beat.
Seriously….take it however u want…but that boss fight really required actual sheep-level gaming experience. It’s no other way of putting it. They literally implemented just 1 game mechanic to that boss…. “kill mob X then hit boss” …a mob that spawns so far it’s in the other room and moves so slow u get to dps the boss 10% life each time.
If u have issues with these kind of very complicated university-level mechanics please ask for help and i am 101% positive someone will help u.
