The NPC in LA has the ingrdients needed to make the gifts for the hallloween weapons, but he doesn’t have the recipes for ex “Recipe: Gift of Souls”.

Is this intentional? is it confirmed they drop from mobs or they are not available?

I see a lot of people complaining about how the content has been drastically reduced from season 1 to season 2.

I just wanted to give the other side of it a voice:
Yes, quantity has been reduced. But the quality has gone towards another ballpark completely. When I saw ArenaNet taking a “season break”, I was really happy about it!

It tells me that they’re not trying to rush out loads and loads of content. They want to make sure it’s GOOD content – which really lives up to their original philosophy of “when it’s ready”.
Mind you, this isn’t content you should rush. That WILL make you disappointed.
Take your time, explore the small things and details put in. Read all the written dialogue, and you might find it worthwhile.

I feel bad for the developers. Last year we complained about quality. This year, someone else is complaining about quantity.

I feel sorry for you, he did not bite the bait.

Hehe. I’ll give it another try… Why did the Seer chase after the Eidolon?

This because they sacrificed one thing completely for the other, instead of balancing. As i said in my post…u have to be dumb not to see the quality improvement….but this is an mmo…and mmos need quantity as much as quality. The lack of quantity combined with these huge..literally huge breaks, and the story that even as good is it was, didn’t make me care about anyone in it apart from Rytlock, gave this season a very lackluster feeling compared to the first. Let’s take a bet how many will remember S1 (for the good and bad that it had) and let’s see how many remember what happened in S2. I bet u anything almost everything that happened in S1 is still embedded in most people’s memory.

ANet practically did a huge mistake (from my pov) in going from one extreme to another. In this case quantity&quality. Extremes are never good in any situation including IRL. There always needs to be a balance.

I will consider Season 2 a sacrificial season. S1 was for them to see if quantity without quality works. S2 is the exact opposite. S3 will be the season that shows if they learned from their mistakes and their successes.

PS. The majority of people who play mmos in particular don’t care so much for story as they do about actually playing the game and being kept interested through gameplay. Story is more of a single player feature and even there it’s ignored most of the time.

I think u will see more discussions about “wow did u participate in that epic fight? it took hours but we finally did it” rather then “waw did u see the reaction on her face? they kissed!”…. seriously now.

Personally i felt this LS lackluster when it comes down to LENGTH. I mean it’s like playing half of what S1 gave us (excluding the fail Scarlet). All events in this LS took place in 1 map that opened slowly. The new map is not bad if u go over the intensive lag it makes.

As kitteneason1 was…i clearly remember the first time robots appeared on a map..then on another..then on another..then the attack on one of the most iconic capitals in the game. After that the marionette….after that LA fight. Everything in it definitely felt more epic and long…making it seem like a serious fight. It also took more people to do..which gave the impression it’s something hard where everyone should contribute. This has it’s good sides and it’s bad sides…but overall gave it the feeling it was a long tedious fight against something big.

Now …if i think of S2..i don’t remember honestly anything important. A new small map opens up that has lag, but interesting mechanics. Funny thing is the most interesting part was the Charr story and the sacrifice Rytlock did… Definitely more memorable then anything else that happened in S2 lol.

The scenes which we got in other maps were extremely short and they all led to the new map in the end…so the overall feeling is everything took place in 1 map.

Compared to this think of the S1…we were having fights on numerous maps that continued for quite some time….+ i feel like the timelength overall of S1 was much greater then S2.

I dunno…..S2 feels very lackluster…and hearing it ends soon makes me go “meh..really?…that’s it?” Practically sacrificed quantity for quality…the quality is definitely better ..u have to be dumb not to see that….but this is an mmo….quantity is a major point. That’s why ppl desperately ask ANet for expansions..because of the very small quantity of actual content we receive.

The quality of the LS story is at a good level by my standards…but the quantity that should have kept me playing is half of what S1 was.

That’s my personal opinion atleast.

Efficiency Obsession in the Community?

Rebound.3409

Honestly as bad as it seems and i do agree with you there….90% of mmos are the same. The major difference between them and GW2 is, in other mmos players who already know the game and are high level, don’t go to low level zones to do dungeons. They do it purely for profit. They have only the highlevel dungeons. In GW2, because of the downscale lvl system, high level players can go into low level zones to grind. That’s when the problem u described appears.

At some point people know almost everything or they’ve seen everything. Because of that only thing left to do is achiev the best looks or gear in the game. That in turn means lots of gold…and one of the main sources of gold are dungeons…so it’s only normal for a game that supports grinding as it’s main source for “everything”, to see people obsessed with efficiency & trying to cut every corner possible just to reduce the grind time spent in a dungeon because of very obvious reasons.

It’s not the players fault it’s the games fault.

All i can give u as an advice is to find a dungeon friendly guild and ask them if u can watch the clips and such. I am sure if it’s a guild group they won’t refuse. If it’s a pug group, u will get people who don’t know eachother, are not part of a guild and so on, and who just want to score fast. U can’t blame anyone for what the game forces u to do in order to have fun in the so called end-game.

Ever heard of the game lotto ?

I play since 62 years lotto and never won the jackpot.
Last week a 23 year old punk won twice…………

I guess thats unfair………..

See what i did???

Only difference here is Lotto isn’t your main mode of living your life.
Translated my normal mode of playing this game’s content should not be a Lotto. Mystic Forge is the lotto of the game.

Besides participating for half a century in lotto i think u actually worked at a real job in paralel. U should know pretty well if u perform and dedicate a lot at your work place, u get rewarded for various reasons in time. That is the comparison u should have used. This is in no way the case in this game.

“work” = normal gameplay.
“lottery” = mystic forge.

Most of their streams are about things that already happened, things they think they did well but most are not happy with, and 1-2 extremely vague words about what has a chance to come in the future.

Long story short, their streams are filled with mostly useless info, that someone who actively plays the game already knows and doesn’t need to be told again.

@Ragnarox sorry to hear u had to spend the money u could have used for mats on a precursor

Now let’s see how much time u add to that precursor to make it a legendary.

Also u said it yourself…6-7h of daily FARMING…. now imagine 4-5h or normal play….should take 8-10 months (of doing the same stuff over and over again)? Now what’s wrong with guaranteeing a precursor for playing 2 years? and in those 2 years u gather mats for it by playing and enjoying any and all aspects of the game..not just a few farming spots.

I dunno how pro your fractal group is but for the people i play with a fractals run that includes the last boss takes 3h and everything there is effected by RNG. I am left with 1-2h to do something (-30 min daily). That’s either helping a guildie with stuff he needs/quests etc OR play wvw and in some cases dungeon…i change between them so it doesn’t feel like a grind. In 1-2h of wvw u don’t really get much..specially if there are no fights. EoTM depends on the luck u have with the servers u are paired with. If the other 2 servers are bad and u are in the same team..the whole week is a waste.

No there is no a system that doesn’t force u to grind …and yes it IS called grinding, as long as all the content u have to do for almost an year is fractals/dungeons mostly.

Look we are not seeing eye to eye here…we see the game through different eyes. Let’s just leave the discussion as is. All i know, this topic has been an active and masively asked for feature by i consider 10x more people, compared to the people who don’t want it…and it will not go away. The laureal system is a system that fixes this with 0 investment and it rewards players for doing WHATEVER they want and doesn’t bound them to specific “office-tasks” like a daily job simulator, over a timeframe that makes them invest quite a bit in the game without making it feel like slavery.

I don’t come back from my IRL work just to get back into virtual office and do repetitive stuff….and i don’t think the number of people who like doing that is high.

- Dailies u do by default, making random stuff (that’s why i said a laureal system is good).
- Fractals i absolutely hate they are repetitive, borring, and if u want to do it with the extra boss JUST THE FRACTALS take away several hours…because u don’t always have a good group or guildies don’t want to do it because they suck as a design.
====
You already finished the ~4h time limit someone NORMAL can invest. If u don’t believe me, go do exactly what u told me, and look at the time it takes.

- both dungeons and fractals done repetitively fall under the grinding area….specially if u only have as i said 4-5 a day to play AND THAT not always…. or maybe weekends i want to do something else.

- you forgot world bosses those are interesting but with the new system u need to be on time at each AND be there at random kitten hours that could span 6h to cover all of them and even then not getting good loot all the time.
- keep in mind some people like to salvage items in order to get their MF up. U would deny them a mechanic of the game just to grind gold? Or maybe some want to work on their ascended gear which means using mats that could be sold at the TP.

Look…….i am NOT saying u are wrong ok? I am saying there needs to be a system that guarantees u a PRECURSOR item, for a big amount of time spent ingame, doing RANDOM STUFF not just a few things, and that doesn’t effect your economy, or pleasure in a game by making it a grindfest and making u not play the game more and more to the point u don’t care anymore. That is REWARDING time played in a game, playing it however you want and not being bowed by 2-3 things in the game, doing them over and over and over and over again for almost an year.

====
As you said…if u actually do it that way YOUR REWARD is getting MULTIPLE (if u are lucky) legendaries + the laureal legendary..and that’s OK with anyone i don’t think anyone will say that’s a bad thing.

If you do it normal hours 4-5h a day and ENJOYING the game however you wish, u get 1 guaranteed precursor for which u have to farm the mats anyway.

Practically the more time u spend ingame = the more guaranteed legendaries u get. If u spend normal playtime ingame u are guaranteed that in 2 years if u play daily u will eventually get 1 legendary. Does this effect you in a bad way? I think not quite the contrary because even u get one. Does this effect the normal player? OBVIOUSLY yes because he gets to experience the game however he wants without being limited to a few things just to get what he wants and still get rewarded at the end and feel good about himself.

In the mean time, people who play even more or like to grind or WHATEVER, they will be rewarded EVEN MORE! by having higher chances at precursors from other activities.

@Rebound: Like i wrote before you can get that legendary without grinding. Now if you actively avoid doing things that give you gold in return then that’s a different scenario. But people who played 5000 hours in 2 years cannot claim they are not able to get their legendary.

You can actually get enough money way faster than 2 years even without said grind.

List what people need to do, how much they need to do and for how long they need to do it. I am sure the majority of players are interested.

U have the normal playtime of 4-5h/day. List everything u can do in 4-5h, the amount of time u need to spend in each activity, and the amount of gold u get /day from that event. START! Teach us all your ways.

PS. Spark costs 1300g or so to which u add the extra gold for the mats u might miss because u might not have everything u need + 100g icy lodestones, which could get u to 1600-1800g….2000g if u have nothing but that rarely happens.

U didn’t tell me why a laureal system is not good yet…u just tell me there are other ways but not why the laureal isn’t a good way. U keep to your own.

@kolompi if the chances are so high to get one, why are people massively complaining about getting them? Or why are u even complaining about something guaranteed as long as it doesn’t effect u? Loreals are things collected over time by playing normally not dedicate hours of repetitive dungeon farming like a slave or massive RNG luck, that on the long run doesn’t effect u in any way because it’s account bound.

Personally i have 9 characters, that i actively change between. I had to dress them the way i liked them, i had to change their sets several times because of balance patches and stats+builds and don’t forget about sigils and all that. I also can’t play daily more then 4-5h considering i have a job, and in that time i want to have fun doing all kinds of stuff, not just farm a few things for gold. I also help guildies with random stuff they need which also takes time away from grinding.

Is that what this game has turned into? a grind competition that determines the most active/loyal player just by how much he grinds or exploits a few spots instead of the enjoying the whole game?

The best answer to your question is “why not?”. As i said..if it’s something that u can personally do, why come here and deny everyone else the chance at a system that does not effect u or your progress in any way. It’s all down to guaranteeing a player gets X if he actively plays the way he wants for a set amount of time. What do u have to lose if they indeed put in this system? what negative parts to this systems do u see or u think might effect your time ingame? It’s not like player X gets it faster then player Y…both X and Y need to play the same amount of time or do the exact same things in order to get it. Nobody has an advantage over another player. Everyone can win for 2 years of their lifes in a game. Think about it.

So what if everyone has a precursor?
If people spend 2 years in a game playing it the way they like it and getting all the laureals on a daily basis why shouldn’t they be offered that a reward? Not to mention it’s just 1 precursor..out of how many 21? I honestly do not understand that mentality.

U NEED 2 YEARS daily play to get the necessary amount of laureals and get a GUARANTEED chance at choosing 1 out of 21 legendaries ingame …and that would be their excuse?

1…..out of 21! EACH 2 YEARS if u play DAILY! guaranteed. And besides that have the existing methods of getting precursors (which are nonexistent for normal players) still be ingame. This way people even if they don’t get the drop they want will think “it’s ok..if i just play the game like i want i am guaranteed to eventually get 1 skin i like”.

They keep players happy knowing they will get 1 guaranteed eventually, they keep players playing and they don’t have to waste valuable resources on inventing something that will 100% guarantee u it will be stupid. + they use a system players are already used too and know! Not to mention Laureals can NOT be trade so it’s 100% your work!

That is exactly the problem why they fail so badly at this. They want precursors to be rare instead of being a reward for player time and dedication put into their game (or both).

Actually..i dare any of u devs that open topics about “how can we communicate better with u and hold hands and share stories and stuffz *hearts*triple rainbows*” to come here and give me the reasons why u would NOT make something like this? Because i am sure u thought of this. I don’t see the bad signes..u win time&money that could have potentially been wasted on this + u give players a guaranteed reward for 2 years of daily play, using a system that already is ingame, and they know but also doesn’t require them to do stuff they don’t like in order to achiev. How much time does it take to code a copy-paste vendor tab that has all legendaries in it set at 800 laureals as a price? 10-15 minutes while taking a d**p in the toilet?

Please..i am prepared to have my mind blown by your reasons/excuses.

EDIT: kolimpi pointed out that i made a mistaking calculating the number of laureals u get/year. The number doesn’t matter i put in another number..but that can be changed to accommodate the system at any time. I put roughly 800 laureals because i considered players might skip 1-2 days of constant play lol.

X amount of laureals (ex 800) is fair for a precursor considering the amount of time u need to spend to finish the legendary after u have the precursor.

800 Laureals means actually playing the game and getting daily/monthly done…it’s not luck based it’s time spent ingame and dedication based..why even try to invent a new system for that? Why invent some obscure quests? why invent some obscure achievement reward track like collections…why make people craft them which means grinding like a slave the mats…mats u also need for the rest of the legendary and already have ridiculous costs. They literally had every system they needed ingame to fix this and they didn’t.

Not to mention laureals can be done literally by anyone in this game (pvp/pve/wvw) by playing. That means u won’t see pve players QQing they have to do pvp/wvw quests (something they hate) in order to get what they want..they just play the game-mod they enjoy and eventually are rewarded for that WITHOUT being forced into content they don’t care about. That works the other way around for PvP players and WvW players.

But as with most good ideas ANet will come up with an excuse or postpone it just to come out with their own vision which in the end is a fail. Nothing ANet says is credible anymore.

1 year = 120 monthly + 12 months * ~30 dailies done in a month WITHOUT achievement chests = 480 laureals
2 years = 960 laureals which could be used either to get 1 precursor OR to get recipes for ascended gear and so on.

EDIT: kolimpi pointed out that i made a mistaking calculating the number of laureals u get/year. @Gaile what u explained only appears/happens when u continue not satisfying the needs of the overall population of the game, instead putting effort in stuff we either don’t care, notice or don’t see as a priority. There have been things asked for since beta by a lot of people. There is literally no excuse for any of u at ANet for not achieving those needs. It’s like u guys make up excuses not to make stuff (the larger part of the community) wants. I can’t take you or Mike seriously i am sorry.
- No expansion
- 1 small (good) map in 2 years (southsun was such a fail and still is, we won’t take it into consideration)
- no races/classes/weapon types (skills u did add a few and they changed the game quite a bit in a good way i give u that)
- no precursor crafting (am not even going to bother detailing this any more…it’s gotten to the point u are literally trolling us)
- hands down the most unrewarding drops in any mmo i’ve played so far with no one able to give me another example, combined with extreme-grind for nothing really.
- EoTM…good map for farmer PvE players..literally NO USE to WvW players. The queue thing is debatable specially when u need ppl in WvW but they instead go in EoTM
- a LOT of bugged events that have been since the start of the game….but u instead fix anything that can be exploited by players in order to get a few more gold
- housing, guild halls, gvg…things that not only were asked even since beta, but they should have been mandatory.

Instead what did we get so far from u?
Gemstore items, A few UI teweeks and bug fixes (2 years…let that sink in), gemstore items, repetitive copypaste holiday events, Gemstore items, a 1 day worth of content at best living story that took a huge break to the point a lot of ppl don’t care anymore, and the amount of what u do during this season definitely seems less compared to last year, Gemstore items, wvw tournament (which i agree got better this time), Gemstore items, a new map in the LS which i admit it’s fun but again 2 years…..did it sink in your mind the firt time? let it sink even deeper, more Gemstore items with a trinkle of Gemstore items and just for the lulz we will give u a Gemstore item souce and a Gemstore item desert to go in your Gemstore bag.

Look..i am not saying that Gemstore items are bad…but when the percentage of what u give us visibly is 70-80% payed stuff and what u give us (from what the majority wants and we asked for 2 years now) is 20-30% I personally call bull- kitten . This game turned into Gemstore Wars 2

I am sorry but at this point in time anything u link i can only see as an excuse for more Gemstore items.

The “Fan event” info should have been the first info in that text. It would have benefited all..specially making people doing these events, seem involved.

As they put it now very few will notice. Perfect example is the poster himself who copied the first part of the info. It’s not about being lazy….it’s about not having the time to invest into things like these. Most of the time u need to multitask anyway. That’s why a PR department should know what to communicate.

Or they can, you know, let us play on that server for that event as well? The server making it can only win from that move. I am from EU and play on NA…almost no lag at all..so lag is not an issue.

Anyway the problem is how they communicated this. If u see 90% of reactions..people thought it was a global thing. But i am not surprised anet excels at communication fkups. GLHF on Aurora with the event hope u have fun If u ask me it’s sad when u see the community doing more for the game then the developers do.

Oh god forbid they actually work on content instead of cash shop…god forbid they deliver actual expansion style content like any other mmo on the planet does. How dare u say things like that.

Rebound.3409

As i’ve said countless times. GW2 is one of the most if not the most rewardless mmo on the planet. U grind u get nothing…u do normal stuff u get nothing…u do story u get nothing worth….anything and everything u do in this game gives u nothing of use.

If u know any other mmo that rewards players for their time spent ingame in such manner please list it. I am very curious because i played a ton of mmos from korean grinders, to p2w games to payed games. In none of them have i felt this lack of loot and reward for time played.

Everything worth u need to pay $$ for it in the gemstore and please don’t come with the hilarious excuse of a gem transaction because it has got to a point it’s literally kittened to even think of exchanging…specially for players that don’t have the time or patience to grind 1 thing over 12h+/day.

(BG player). Yes definitely this was among the best seasons we had so far when it comes down to fights, equal odds and so on. It honestly was a pleasure fighting against all servers we were matched up against.

The fights with TC/JQ this weekend were amazing. Really happy to see this let’s hope for even better fights in the future! Glhfgg to all. This season i kinda feel we all won in one way or another.

Skins that don’t cost gems (tickets) or force u to buy gems because of their ridiculous costs to craft.

Rebound.3409

I’m enormously fond of Lion’s Arch, and I dream of the day when it’s back to its former glory. I guess if you look at this in realistic terms, suffish and Stramatus are right: Itf it’s going to happen, the process would take time. After all, Rome wasn’t (re)built in a day.

I see more workers these days, and hey, CrimeDog, that’s one big rock!

If it will be a copy paste of the old LA (with a few stitches replaced) it will be a major fail. That town needs both a looks update and a technical update to reduce the lag that u encountered there. If u don’t meet both of them or if u meet 1/2 of them it will be a very big fail for most players. U will only cater to a few/niche players just because of laziness.

Also “Rome” happened thousands of years ago. Even if it’s a saying..should we still use it in our day and time? It’s kinda reminiscent of how the game development’s speed don’t u think?

CDI- Guilds- Logistics and QOL

Rebound.3409

Seeing as other people already posted interesting improvements on this subject, i will try to aim at something i haven’t see so much

Proposal Overview
Make guilds actually be useful. Right now guilds are scattered….don’t matter that much and have no impact on the player other then chat. Main reason behind this in my opinion is the ability to be in multiple guilds at the same time. I personally don’t like this because in most cases it makes players not be loyal to a guild they joined or encourages spying. There should be consequences for either leaving a guild OR for being in multiple to discourage these types of behavior.

Goal of Proposal
To make guilds actually MEAN something. The fact i can be part of X guilds does not help AT ALL and makes them seem useless overall.

Proposal Functionality
Make the number of guilds u could join max 2. Timegate the time u could join another guild (after leaving the previous) to …i dunno..2-3-4 weeks? Also make a log of what guilds Player X has been part of, when he joined them and when he left. This way future guilds he might join know exactly who they are dealing with and decide if he fits the guild or not.

Associated Risks
Honestly i don’t see any.

Feature pack 9/9: feedback

Rebound.3409

- Lackluster. Offers almost nothing of what people that played this game for years wanted or offered things that SOME people wanted but even those people didn’t consider as important as other lots of things this game needed. Nothing major just scraps and bones. Improvements that literally took 2 years?

- Filled with updates that benefit (or not) only NICHES of the community

- Made all minis go up in price some dramatically. Thanks ANet. Keep it up and ppl will heavily consider third party sites to get their stuff seeing as how impossible it’s becoming to get anything in this game if u play like a normal human being..not a lifeless farmer u want us to become.

- Only good thing out of all their hard work is the Tradepost..other then that falls under the niche brand.

Overall, again except the TP changes, i am very disappointing that 2 years + beta has brought just these “scraps&bones” changes to the game…and it’s literally horrifying thinking how much it will take to actually improve major stuff.

This patch is overall a tipical “What ANet thinks is best for u”

- Where are the guild changes? The guild system&ui in this game is so archaic it makes minesweeper look like having a decent guild system.

- Where is the GvG? Most of the GW1 community was built on GvG

- It literally took u 2 years to add 3 new colors to the WvW tag? ARE U SERIOUS?!? no other commander improvement?

- Where’s improved SQUAD UI and info?

- Where’s improved PARTY UI? How about the option to unite multiple parties to make a mini-warband like in Warhammer? Or do u still expect us to archaically leave/dismiss a party then try to join another party and risk not having space, instead of letting people unite easily.

- How about u start releasing whole areas of maps instead of parts of a map i can bet the whole firm worked on for 2 years day and night to make, at the rate u give us stuff.

- 2 years and no new race/class/levelincrease or any type of content that makes us think we are actually progressing ? I get the feeling our time is not important to u ANet (and yes i know u barely started with Dry Top…..a “2 by 2” map that has been unlocked in 4-5 stages? JUST 1 MAP. By the end of the season i should have ATLEAST 5 maps opened.

- Where are the new dungeons?

- Where are raids? WE HAVE BEEN ASKING FOR RAIDS SINCE BETA!

Want me to continue?

The game at the moment honestly looks to me like it’s really DESPERATELY struggling to get out of beta….and it’s just now taking the steps to do so.

Hell even after that fiasco with “let’s hold hands and communicate better” after which u promised us a CDI strictly about Guilds…we still didn’t get it. Wonder how much it takes to write 3-4 lines of text in a thread and pressing a button to post it.

No there is no way because they removed listing minis by category in this case Sets.

Why? Anet.

U either have to google it, wait for a miracle patch or most likely wait for an extra options purchased with gems
