I like how everyone jumps on the blame train on just 1 person, when this is a game of 5 v 5. Says everything.
The “git gud” cult of ANet.
If that item wasn’t in…you wouldn’t have had a season to begin with. Just a handfull of people playing eachother over and over again. At least those wings gave diversity. It’s not the players fault anet can’t fix their system and creates unfair situations in every season now.
Don’t worry, soon everyone will have their wings and will not care or go to pvp anymore. You will have the empty and stale dreamworld you are asking for.
Tempting PvE players to come to PvP with an legendary item is not the way to do it. I would rather fight the same people over and over again since at least they know basic strategy vs PVE’rs who think they are fighting a dungeon NPC and can’t undertand why their PVE rotations don’t work on players.
If you think that’s the mentality of a PvE player then you are honestly ignorant. Keep thinking that.
There are as many bad apples in the “PvE side” as there are in the “PvP side”. What does that mean on the long run? nothing.
No it’s not if you understand how mentality works. People have played a TON of hours in that short time. You don’t “math” by days but by hours spent in those days playing ONLY that mod and trying to progress.
Arguably, at the start of the season, the population in PvP is the largest for extremely obvious reasons. As time passes things don;t “get better”. People stop playing because they either achieved what they wanted (for at least 70% that’s ruby) or give up because of frustration.
So all in all…. if things look bad now, there are absolutely no reasons they will get better as time passes. Only way they would get better is if anet drastically changes something.
Let’s do a test, go in PvP now (barely a week as u say) and ask in mapchat what are the queue times and against what people/divisions they are being matched and you will have your answer not from me..but from the people playing the game.
If ppl tell you they are ~sapph or higher…that have very big queues, and when they do queue up, they get matched against premades or much higher divisions, then that’s a clear sign the system doesn’t have a large enough active player database of people to pick players for matches. It just throws whatever vs whatever in an effort to just create a match. From what i know, the system has a chance to put you against either a +15 pip player or against a -15 pip player. I have had matches in which i as a sapphire in a pug group, paired against diamond premades. tell me how the distance from sapp to diamond is “15” and also tell me how the system that should be completely against pairing full pug against premades actually works.
(edited by Rebound.3409)
Hahaha that i would love to see. People won’t be able to even get past the second pip))))
I would totally do that as an event for the lulz.
Don’t worry to much about it. Nothing bad will happen. Worst case you get a warning or someone edits it.
Read what i wrote. Also saying his name may cause other players to PM him insulting etc etc and that falls under another rule. (even if rightfully)
No they aren’t. Queues were abysmal. I know it’s hard at first to believe it, but as time passes and frustration builds, less and less ppl …just….you know….stop caring.

All hail the COC
PS. before u start saying “but i typed in his character name” remember that you can easily find out his acc name and stuff by knowing his character name. Just add him to friends list and you will have it :P

Even ruby is one of the hardest achievements in the game atm.
Just tell them to “git gud”…it has an instant effect. Not only will their skill increase considerably just by seeing that line in chat, but their morale will go up also. They will start encouraging eachother in team chat, share stories about previous games. Even go so far as to wish each other’s families good luck in life.
You just need to git gud bruh..that’s all /hugs
(edited by Rebound.3409)
The very fact 1 person has to carry the rest of a team like u 2 are putting it, means that matchmaking is kitten and does not pair u correctly. Where’s the so called balance you are talking about?
You are punching yourself in the face with these comments. Read at least what you write. A balanced game should be a game where each carries his weight..not where 1 does all the work and pray for a win (rare even then). Can all of them be like that? No obviously not…..but when the % of games “that need to be carried” is much greater then the % of games where each does he’s job then you see the problem…and that problem is in pairing people together.
No such thing as balance….and you said it yourself regardless if you actually see that or not.
Best advice anyone on this forum will give you is to “git gud” so please…….git gud.
Also any pro here (as they think of themselves) will always tell you it’s 100% your fault…. and the remedy for that is again “git gud”.
Seasons are perfect…completely balanced. Win 1 lose 1 = balance. No progression = anet™.
(edited by Rebound.3409)
he should definitely git guder…but who cares…he’s diamond and u’re not….so by that standard u should git guder.
Welp….according to anet’s COC (as read), you are worth a ban now for naming and shaming. Please protect the leecher by editing his name out of your post.
Streamers like Lirik, Dansgaming, Summit, and so on, have that or more while being offline…and that’s versus the top viewer number of a company that hosts a competitive event for their only game. Says everything.
Let’s put it like this. If Blizzard wasn’t able to turn their widely successful game into an esport (wow, even if u like it or not you can’t deny it’s success), how can a company like this do it? This company compared to Blizzard is like “1 division”. The genre itself is NOT made for esports because being a pro and “competitive” in an mmo is a joke. Go as a pro mmo competitive player to any real esport event and brag about how good you are. They will start laughing their kitten off.
ANet tries to do “everything” but as in real life a person who does 10 things at the same time is a person who doesn’t do any of them right (best case gets the job done)…and will never excel at any of them.
(edited by Rebound.3409)
@Holl u didn’t understand anything…but gz on your 14 streak. Hope you continue it. Really.
Sry started is sapphire. Got them mixed up.
And no..he played like 80% solo both seasons. He does indeed know some people at his same skill level but timezones kinda made him play more solo. He is just legit good.
And as you i am also tired of people defending a flawed system who can’t see past their pride. As i said, the consequences of this seasons charade are already seen under the form of queues and pugs-vs-team matches which i get more and more. People are simply just quitting. If that’s what you wanted for your game mod, then you will receive it…pretty soon as i can see. It’s all down to the balance between time invested vs reward (may it be items or pips). What seasons have done is to frustrate and drive away new people who were attracted to this mod by the wings (without those wings you would have never had the pvp population to host seasons in the first place).
(edited by Rebound.3409)
That is one of the dumbest things you could bring up as an argument together with “git gud”
1. Timezones.
2. On the fly teams need time to get to know eachother and get good. You don’t just form a party and start wining.
3. All of them should be able to be online at the same time interval for several hours.
4. It takes time to solidify what u have as a team classes etc.
5. All should have chat programs all should have microphones and all should want to actually do all that jazz.
It’s down to time. As i said if i or anyone in these leagues was actually trying to be competitive, they would not even think of these and just do organized lobbies for it.
Hell most don’t even like having a party..most players get home from a job, and want to just unwind playing solo.
I repeat..i am NOT TALKING about Diamond and up. I am talking about bone-divisions which are harder to progress the legendary atm.
exactly..so ANet made a gambling system for 80% of it’s pvp players and STILL EXPECT THEM to continue playing after this is done.
Good job..you came to my conclusion earlier.
That’s what happens when a company catters to just 20% of it’s customers. It also happened in REAL competitive games like Starcraft..not this joke.
Real pro players in this game:
1. Should be rewarded in another way (for ex a special set of leg wings..maybe reskinned if u get to legendary etc, they already get titles)
2. Most pros play seasons as a joke. Real pros play competitions for $$ not pixels
Casuals:
1. Should get something for their hours spent. As is, there are the current wings
2. People should have an easier time to progress till the mid levels (diamond and above should be hard)
For most players in this game it’s down to how much time u waste vs how much u receive for it….and THAT IS A GOOD MENTALITY.
(edited by Rebound.3409)
People are not even complaining about diamond or legend. Most are stuck in the kitten tiers like emerald or whatever with close to no progression.
A friend thief who was leg both s1 and s2 can’t get past emerald mid..and he plays like crazy.
What does competitive mean? at least 80% of the player base plays solo queue. How am i being competitive or how is my skill judged and rewarded with pips considering i might have a bad team. How should i compensate for that and why am i being punished for that?
There is absolutely nothing competitive about this game mod…as players who might deserve better divisions are kept in lower divisions and vice versa.
Anyway, as i said..don’t worry. Each has his own vision. Your game mod will be dead soon enough. 8/10 people who get their wings will never look at this again…or BEST CASE will do 1-2 matches in casual mode not leagues.
All in all seasons failed it’s main purpose and you will feel it soon enough. You are already feeling it in the form of queue times. Yesterday, 3 times in a row i was placed in a full pug group vs the same 4 man team +1 pug. Guess the system can’t find players.
Who cares about being legendary. You are blind if u think that.
People don’t want to be stuck, after playing 4-5 + hours/day in the same tier for days. Nobody is even thinking of legendary. I don’t think i’ve met any game that does that level of time wasting literally for 0 reward. And you think people won’t get frustrated and quit? HA
Remember..the SAME VERY LIMITED MOD…for 4-5h/day……for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING…100% NO progression
(edited by Rebound.3409)
One thing is for sure. After seasons are over or after people get their wings your pvp experience will not go up. It will actually go down in to the slums..because this whole circus frustrated people so much they will simply stop playing this arbitrary game mod. So all you elite pvpers..brace yourself for queues.
Seasons were intended as a means to bring fresh blood in pvp. It achieved completely the opposite.
Depends on how points are given really.
People started quitting pvp ahahaha
The last 3 matches in a row i’ve been in full pugs against 4 to 5 man groups. It’s starting boys!
Funny part is, i think it’s separate. I remember them saying when nerfing the rev skill-2 from hitting 5 targets to hitting 3 targets. They said it will remain 5 for pve. That for me means they already can separate skills into PvP and PvE.
Maybe i am remembering wrong.
You are good at gambling.
I think necros are ok atm honestly. They are balanced.
Win 1 lose 1 or similar. Works as intended and fits the theme of this whole game “absolutely no sense of progression” and a grinding process not seen even in pure p2w korean games, may it be WvW…PvE or PvP.
They stay true to their mentality and game philosophy.
I have no clue why you are crying. #worksasintended #grindwars2 #moregemshopitemsplox
A ranked system in which your personal skill is 90% effected AND decided by other people. A good judgement of your personal skill i say and the only deciding factor which dictates where in MMR u are and what ppl u party with..ultimately how many losses u get.
Let’s take an example. I keep hearing this “git gud” thing on the forums. Let’s do an experiment. If i go on and join teams, intentionally afking, theoretically if i have 4 good ppl with me they should win right? Let’s see the % of those wins. How much “guder” should they git if 1 person in their party is a net loss…either afk or just dies constantly. Is that still a way to judge the other 4 people’s skill?
While I’d love a 1v1 ranked league it would in practice simply boil down to scrapper vs. scrapper at the highest levels.
What i am overall trying to say is that there is absolutely NO judgement of personal skill in this game as a soloquer. It all boils down to luck (getting a decent team). There cannot be any such type of “ranking system” in a system that doesn’t actually do ranking all in all because of those very reasons.
So people saying git gud and you are not playing right and whatever….i honestly pity them.
“Seasons” in any mmo always boils down to luck & grind. Only a handfull of ppl (as a team) go far….but 90% don’t

Stop acting like pvp is anything other then luck and grind for a soloquere. You look like clowns. This is an mmo we are talking about.
I can’t wait to get my wings. After that i will just join matches and afk for the lulz. Soon…very soon.
Was it ever pvp? It’s been a circus fest since day 1 of this neverending “early access” game
Hahaha i always loved your sense of humor :P
Hope future buyers read forums/reviews and whatnot found everywhere on the internet and not make the huge mistake of feeding them even more money. Even if it’s 5$
I personally thought they completely removed the ascended boxes. Haven’t gotten a drop for over a month now.
That would be in line with their vision of the game as being one of the most rewardless mmos ever created for the time you spend in it.
Yes please…more BS they can’t properly handle and balance. That’s what the game needs at this very moment.
Ipea ftw)
Miss you on blackgate bro.
So much time passed since HoT release…………..just for this? This is the extent of content i expect from a “10 man” team considering the time between HoT release and this first so called “major” patch.
You never fail to impress me in a bad way
It’s something useless because guilds don’t matter in this game and/or are starting to disappear because of the game itself…or the lack of “game”.
Don’t bother with it.
My almost constant 30-40 online guild has went to 5 at best online after just 3 months of HoT. The roster shows they haven’t logged in for weeks to months, and when they do and we get to talk, they all say the same thing “Just doing the dailies then logging out” (which i also do). The guild was composed of both casual players who were just in it for fun and of HC players. Some were since GW1..some started day 1 GW2.
Take that as you want about the state of the game.

In terms of marketing, an expansion is far superior. People simply don’t care about some patch an MMO gets whereas people talk about an upcoming expansion. Expansions bring in players, whereas a flow of new content keeps them active. Moving forward, ArenaNet will likely stick with expansions with smaller living world releases in between – just enough to keep people active. They’ve already made the mistake of waiting too long after the expansion, though HoT’s release was simply at a terrible time, so it wouldn’t have made much of a difference. They should have transitioned straight into the living world a month after release.
Personally, the only thing good about the expansion model is that it gives me ample free to time to play other games.
It’s a good marketing model when the product lives up to it’s name “expansion”. In my personal opinion based on my personal experience, this expansion was borderline scamming.
From maps that seem cool at first but become “meh” very fast…fastest i’ve exeperienced in any game, to the traditional “worthless rewards” anet has trademarked for the mmo genre that require more lame-grinding (note that there is also fun-grinding) then any other mmo including korean mmos, and i dare anyone to give me an example of an mmo that has a grind/reward ratio as terrible as this game and no sense of accomplishment.
Content is lacking..just loop-events, story was short…i mean seriously…we went from helping frogs to killing the dragon in less then 15 minutes…seriously?
Lately they announced they are scrapping legendaries, a major sellpoint for many considering the very few elements that came with this expansion…..and for that price.
Really in my book at least this expansion was yet another nail in the coffin for this game, and that coffin is getting very close to needing no more nails. We are not in the 90’s when games were so scarce that “giving a chance” and “waiting” are still viable. Now with the multitude of games out there, a failure of this magnitude is catastrophic…and taking it back to marketing, yes the marketing deparment sold their product..but the product they marketed failed.
Failing in our day and age is more disastrous then being successful…because negative posts spread 10 times faster and keep away ppl much more efficiently then any “hype wave” could ever dream of accomplishing. Do 10 things right, and 1 thing wrong and ppl will always judge you by that 1 wrong thing. Now take in consideration anet did 1 thing right (base game) and “10 things wrong”. Hell..go search anywhere on google for GW2 and you will see at least 8/10 negative posts….it’s come to that magnitude of failure. Now imagine yourself as someone potentially being interested in this game and facing that much hate (which in a huge proportion is justified IMO even if over-dramatized)
I am not saying the game is dead or will die, but they did push back most of their veterans and loyal customer base (and probably their biggest gem buyers) by making multiple mistakes. Once someone is pushed back, it’s borderline impossible to bring him back..and if he ever comes back IT WILL NEVER BE because of Anet or their game…it will be because of EXTERNAL factors..like “i tried another game but i couldn’t get used to it, i will try GW2 again”.
They will only be left with ppl that won’t dedicate or stay in this game..just “pass-by-ers”. This game is getting old, people’s expectations for games change fast and dramatically…more and more ppl are just giving up on mmos in general. ANet failed to move fast enough and to adapt fast enough. That is critical for a game that is old..both in esthetics/performance AND in content.
That’s the pros and cons of “good marketing” and using therms like “expansions” that automatically set an expectation bar for your customers.
(edited by Rebound.3409)
No, each character has “it’s own story”. Back in the day, a lot of quests were unique not just to the character but also to the race you chose. Now it’s a semi-achievement system. For ex, you achieve finishing the whole story with 1 character and it appears as done, but when u get on a new character you have to go through the story again, even tho your account appears to have finished it.
….those days of relative in-depth character story are gone, but the system is still there.
Not afraid at all, i just consider GW2 Raiding, that slums of this game’s community in regards to the mentality, elitism and overall terrible vocabulary used in there.
Why should i even bother with it? For an unreleased skin that most likely looks like a black lion skin? Please…
Pretty much what Casta said, on top of which i should add, required achievements like “play 3 different classes” really added to this disaster more then ppl give it credit.
Forcing someone to play classes he does not know or even want to play is one of the most terrible ideas i’ve heard. You can hands down imagine at least 8/10 people who did this achievement were terrible in their matches and cost a lot of losses for their team mates, which in turn contributes to this horrific mmr dependent system.
(edited by Rebound.3409)
I can ask you the same thing. What exactly makes you upset? Seeing all the people who made it to diamond, legendary i can safely say you are not worth those 2 divisons.
So why exactly are you so upset that you want to bring everyone else down just so u have a higher chance to progress? I am curious about your greed.
I can sum your complaint in one line:
“When the going gets tough, bring everyone else down.”
You do realize PvP is also a game and not real life right? You do realize that when i purchaced the game it included PvP and WvW also and you are not entitled to dictate what i play and what not.
Yes this is PvP..should it be kitten-level pvp like u suggest? Then be prepaired to QQ all over the forums about how alone you are, how ques take 30minutes and how you face the same people over and over again.
What you suggest is to completely remove any form of friendly enviroment for people who don’t necessarily PvP as their main goal. Why is that? Are you really that upset at people who don’t make it their goal in life to get legendary, but instead want to try it out and have fun?
You want competitive? Go make private lobbies..go play in ESL..go do something that actually counts towards THAT. What you are playing is the equivalent of let’s say “Starcraft 2 multiplayer” with ranks like copper, diamond, grandmaster etc". Most can achieve diamond if decent, very few can achieve grandmaster…and THAT’S how it should be. Is that a statement of skill? Yes…most legendaries are actually the good players. Does that mean anything? In esports absolutely not…because players do REAL tournaments that decide their skill.
As far as rewards go, anyone terrible or very good in starcraft can get any achievement and/or skin if they play enough regardless if they REMAIN terrible or very good. Only difference is the TIME it takes to get that thing.
Anyway as i said in other threads..all u eletists who think know better, don’t worry. Next season most will get their wings. Can’t wait for the wave of complainers about population. As far as ANet making the next season with division drop in ruby and whatnot, i honestly think (or hope) they are no that dumb..because that will not only be a nail in the coffin for most players who invested so much time trying to get the wings (that being the only content keeping them ingame really), virtually making it impossible for them to finish it, but it will actually make people quit the game. Them having less players is the worst thing they could think of specially as the game stands now….and for what..for your personal elitist behavior and failure to get past ruby/diamond? I don’t think that’s a good trade-off.
How about YOU get better? The forum is filled with good players that got to legendary solo caring other teams.
