I personally like it
@Krall nobody is complaining it’s back …..how did you understand that?
They pretty much offer a feature that was in the game when launched, removed, then reintroduced in the expansion as a groundbreaking feature. The only difference is your character randomly has a voice not only in cutscenes but in normal gameplay also.
I also don’t consider it a key feature of an expansion and i still don’t consider what they showed so far as being an expansion’s worth of content. It lacks the “meat” of an expansion. Till now they just offered us the “crust” by my expectations of an almost 2 year work they bragged about.
1 class…a few specializations using already existing weapons….1 map with no guarantee of more… no dungeons…. custom skills like gliding and jumping on mushrooms..2 skills they bragged way to much with as if they are groundbreaking and unheard off in other mmos…. a screenshot of 2 frogs that smoked too much weed…. 1 new wvw map….1 new pvp mode…and guild halls in a game where guilds don’t matter as much as being part of a random zerg does but still that’s cool. That’s all we know so far.
No mention of how many maps..no mention of how many dungeons…no mention of rewards in general from events…no mention on how they improved events/raids/semiraids aka marionette-type-boss….no mention of GAME PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT and plans… no mention of wvw rewards for scouting towers ..no player housing guaranteed…etc…
So yes i am not surprised not many give a f about voices.

Nightmarish frogs? All i see is 2 frogs high on cra**
Have to agree with most said here sadly.
Probably some cash shop items.
There is a difference between having nothing to do once you reach lvl80 apart from a legendary and having anything to do which is endgame…which can be translated into progression past lvlcap. An example of endgame could be the introduction of the Paragon system in Diablo 3 past lvlcap and they did it very well as every paragon level makes you stronger..it gives you a real feeling of progressing indefinitely.
They will introduce something “endgame-ish” from what i’ve seen in their interviews. Not 100% sure if it will do the trick tho.
I am just comparing their expansion with other expansions and i am trying to see if their expansion is at that level.
(edited by Rebound.3409)
CureForLiving summed it up. People demanded a “real” expansion and they will get it.
I am eagerly waiting to see if this “real expansion” is as big as a traditional expansion. For now i see a new class but no new race. New specializations which is ok. “End game content” which is iffy….and no news about how many maps&dungeons we get which is the backbone of any expansion….and so far they religiously avoided the answer for this. If we get just 1 map kitten that.
God all these walls of text…
Here you go i made a you an all-around great gaming rig:
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/W9bDFT
The price on that site is 1260$ but you might find the components for cheaper in other places. Those are some of the best quality/price components on the market. The PSU is a bit overkill for the rig i made you but it assures future upgrades if you want a SLI configuration in the future for example. If not you can go for the cheaper 660W platinum from seasonic.
Optionals that you can upgrade at a later stage are adding a true SSD besides the SSHD i put in your configuration and replace the H100i stock fans with Noctua fans which are as powerful as the originals but extremely silent.
The case is made to be silent..i have it and i am extremely happy with my choice.
The price difference of 200-300$ will literally double your performance/cooling etc and make your rig last longer and be a bit more futureproof. You can even overclock it safely with that configuration if you ever feel your rig is slow (after a few years).

I actually HAVE used Windows 8.1 quite a bit. Doesn’t mean I have to like it.
I prefer to have my desktop and startmeny as it have been for the last 20 years, I have no need for smart-phoneish interfaces. Windows 7 is stable, and until there is actual issues using it, I have no reason whatsoever to upgrade.
W7 is stable but it limits what u can get out of your system…because it’s just old…what is it..10yo by now? won’t even bother googling it.
Anyway W10 gets the startmenu back and all that jazz….but i think u already were curious enough to youtube some vids of it.
As for upgrading..ofc each upgrades when he feels like it.
Pointless thread is pointless. This is not needed. Game is fine.
That’s the exact mentality that makes evolving stop. By your standards we would have stone wheels because “they are fine…they roll”. No..no it’s not if it can be heavily improved…specially because more and more of their playerbase can handle 10x what this game limits us to.
If the game is fine for you good..then just go play it nobody has anything against you…but don’t come here and claim it’s pointless to upgrade because it doesn’t need too because that just puts you in the “very special category” of this forum…..specially because u had no arguments to back up your own statement. You basically just said “no”
(edited by Rebound.3409)
I hope not. One ascended piece costs more then a precursor atm. Imagine how much 1 legendary piece would cost.
It just adds to the already existing grinding and frustration. Terrible idea.
what you talking about…. 1 ascended weapon costs 40-50 gold and for chest piece 150-200g…thats like nothing u can farm it in 2 days
I don’t see what you are saying there. You just confirmed that the price of 1 ascended is more then the price several precursors currently have ingame. Don’t include weapons as nobody was even hinting at ascended weapons. You didn’t enforce your argument by throwing in ascended weapons in any way.
I was exactly like him before trying out W8.1 so i kinda understand him. It’s better to take the time to explain to someone rather then shut up and expect someone to know..even tho there’s the chance of that person not getting it IMO.

Windows 8.1 (apart from the actual start menu) is an upgraded W7. Also absolutely 0 incompatibility issues in W8.1 with anything so far.
Windows 10 almost completely removes the tabs thing. From everyone that actively tested it i only heard good things..not 1 bad thing worth noting..and this is a technical preview not the final product. Windows 10 will be a beast when it comes out.
Also W7 doesn’t know how to fully profit from the new generation of CPUs, memory usage and so on. The jump in speed/performance i noticed when jumping from W7 to W8.1 was pretty big …..performance that is also noticeble in games.
When W10 comes out people still rooting W7 will look exactly like ppl who rooted XP when W7 came out.

I still remember getting my Voodoo 2 to “max out” Dungeon Keeper 2……brings a tear to my eye.
@Beldin yea that’s because i actually love this game…if i didn’t i wouldn’t put in so much effort into flaming it as dumb as it might sound. I want to see it reach it’s true potential. Now in my eyes it’s like a dormant beast with no signs of waking up.
It’s RNG/gambling…it strictly depends on luck.

Part of the problem is people waiting till the fight is over.
If they ever offer it as an upgrade i would more then gladly pay the same price as i did for the game at launch….even if it’s an optional upgrade….and not a full game.
I am not scared to pay for quality stuff. In fact i encourage it…because i atleast hope that money goes towards quality.

Pretty much my exact thoughts^
Understandable.
If you think this mmo has toxic-chat that must mean you never played other mmos..because if you did..you would easily see this game is one of the friendliest and open minded.
All all the problems i think this game has, this one is on the bottom of the list because of the very nature of the community.
Definitely a plus from me.
I don’t like how the gliders look

How about a thread “Changing We don’t want to manually rez mentality” dead people seem to always apply because this game made them carebares.
Accept the fact that sometimes you sitting there for a rez is detrimental to everyone else. So for your own benefit you want everyone else to suffer in some way or another.
When people can rez you they will…but when rezing you might create problems for others it falls on you to do the correct thing and waste 1-2 minutes getting back. I am sorry those 1-2 minutes it takes you to walk back, in order to benefit the whole group, is such a pain for you. Everyone around you is so selfish right?

I don’t think they have a good enough product (or finished enough) to show off yet.
I hope they don’t nerf/buff anything too much. A handfull of beta testers should only count for stability changes or game quest bugs and such but not class balance. I prefer them releasing them OP as kitten and then let the numbers speak for themselves, gathered from global players.
Unbugging thread
Not everyone has tearing on vsync off lol. I almost never have it..like 90% of times.
Depends a lot on your monitor.
Would be funny.
An ancient DX + the lack of x64 capability will always cap your game to potato level performances at best, regardless of how many upgrades you make.
What worries me is the lack of info or communication/plans related to the game’s performance.
Still stoneage with no perspective on any future update to the core system till GW3 if it ever comes out. It’s very sad really specially the silence from ANet on this subject.
Not many want better graphics..but we do want performance worth our day and time and the rigs we invested in. I just hope they announce something after DX12 is out. The game offers disgusting performance when considering the resources it eats up and in many cases does NOT (and should) eat up because of it’s engine.
@Pandaman and as i said, there might be a team outside of US which is in charge with US servers when they have issues late-night. Physical problems are not a problem anymore as you can activate a backup server which is god knows where (the Moon). The backup servers might even be in the US and just need to be remotely changed to from some place else other the US.
Their tweet indicates a team is working on it. It might or might not be located in the US. Everything is globalized..including work nowadays.
Read again what i said. I am not complaining that the game is down i am 100% sure they are working on it because that’s the expectation i have of them and their product & the faith i have in their knowledge. I was explaining that the excuse “they might be sleeping” someone made is just dumb and should NOT be used in the context of a global services (like this game).
1 nation’s laws do NOT apply to a world wide service…because your service is not present just in 1 nation. It’s present on the whole globe so there are teams outside of US working to assure the service is constantly up and running. As for the physical problem it also should NOT be a problem. If a server physically goes down and cannot be reset/fixed remotely it should have backup servers, either in the same region or another which should temporarily take the place of the broken one.
In our day and age excuses like that are nonexistent honestly. I understand if we were back in the early 2000’…we have a ton of possibilities nowadays.
The only thing i complained about on anet’s side was the slow communication they have but as i posted above they tweeted about it. Their very own tweet should be enough to counter what u said.
(edited by Rebound.3409)
Well they tweeted so i am happy they offer some form of communication:
https://twitter.com/GuildWars2/status/579948171465531392
What’s irritating is the lack of news from ANet’s support team. No post…no tweet..no nothing.
It’s 3am in the west coast and 6am in the east coast, I’ll forgive them for being weak fleshbags that require sleep.
This is an mmo. Timezones are NOT an excuse and ppl should stop coming up with this lame excuse. They most likely have world wide teams working on servers and offering support to customers almost 24/7. NA teams EU teams SEA teams. They should be covering all timezones, even customer support (which most likely is not even part of ANet itself…maybe part of ncsoft)
It’s not like this bothers me…i could care less if GW2 is down a bit..but i do care about what ANet has consistently been lacking and that is communication. When you create a global product you also commit to offering global services. That means u should not be tied to a certain timezone. Hire people to do the job when you sleep. That’s the product u created and the expectations you sold it with, which are completely normal expectations from buyers.
What if the game actually got heavy-attacked and went down for real. Would that mean the game would not come back up for what…8h? because “oh we were sleeping”? Imagine that happening to a service like xbox or sony services…or even a game like wow.
(edited by Rebound.3409)
What’s irritating is the lack of news from ANet’s support team. No post…no tweet..no nothing. We don’t even know if someone is working on this issue or it’s just the server’s back systems temporarily fixing itself lol.
But hey if someone bakes them cookies they would be all over the forums with screenshots and posts.
i just crashed….at jade maw…waste of 30 min lol
Don’t worry..it would have been the same “waste of 30 min” when u got to see your rewards anyway.
Yup i can confirm, i am back ingame.
Just got an abrupt connection lost. Now each time i try to login it just says “Connection failed. Please try again” Error code: 51:49:7004:1163
Ventari…meh…
Well their choices are i think based on psihology.
1. These are dudes u encountered both in GW1 and 2 through lore cutscenes etc. so both old and new players know who they are
2. Their names have to subtly inspire you what they actually do…the abilities they give u
3. They have to be memorable and easy to identify.
I have mixed feelings about this. In some ways it could improve things..in other ways it’s pretty obvious why ppl wouldn’t feel content with killing stuff anymore….there’s something about kill a mob and being rewarded for it.
The hype kinda died in me after seeing the constant lack of meaningful new info. They only show the same things over and over again and evade every other question for ex “is it just a 1 map expansion?”…because after seeing how religiously they have evaded this instead talking almost exclusively about “but but..look at the gliders!”….. i tend to think it is.
For me right now, with what they’ve showed, it’s an overglorified feature patch and a “1 map” living story update. Not an expansion. They keep hyping up stuff (features) that honestly are important but are not what u think of when u think about a proper expansion, content wise.
I hope to god i am wrong. What they showed off so far is definitely NOT the work of an expansion “years in the making” like they stated.
Would be even more sad if the mighty beta is the exact same 15 min of gameplay showed at PAX.
(edited by Rebound.3409)
Strange i haven’t experienced animosity of any sort at these things.
Nobody can tell u that lol. Just keep it. It’s not like this gave offers u anything worth the gold. Mostly just junk.
Yea..the fans on my 7970 get to jetplane level sounds in this game.
Ooohsnap…shots fired.
honestly 150% is easy to do just salvage every item u get by randomly playing.
Start thinking about powerleveling when u are at least 180-200%.
