its okay, once you lose enough games, match making will start pitching you against opponents of lower MMR.
btw i thought reapers are supposed to be powerful.
what build are you running?
And after you win that 1 “looser’s match” game, you will be back in that tier of ever-failing games hahahaha.
@Ohoni click the meta-achievement and you will see it doesn’t force you to play all classes at all. It just asks u to win 5 matches with 2x classes. The rest are optional.
An option that doesn’t solve the problem. Killing someone before you judge him, in the not-so-distant medieval era was also an option.
The difference between a competitive team and a pro team (in your example Abjured) is the exact same as the difference between a very good high ranking starcraft player and an actual pro player.
It’s miles..upon miles…upon miles.
Even if it was a joke or not..putting pro-teams that dedicate everything to 1 activity, in an example and trying to justify something with it, is just childish.
Your team must not be that good then lol.
But ANet is like “¯\(?)/¯” when it comes to balance
Leagues? yes and they will always do…because that is the nature of COMPETITION. You think when “army X” and “army Y” met IRL they talked about sparkly things and rainbows? no..they BM themselves. BM is in our nature when it comes to competition.
What i personally consider truly “toxic” is a system that ENCOURAGES it.
That would be better, but still not a real solution. They need a real solution so that people who like the look of the wings but hate PvP can work their way towards it, similar to how PvPers can work towards dungeon armors.
Or any kind of content. If what you say is true about how much “stuff” you need..then it’s a clear advantage for PvP players who can obtain anything ingame at the same level of investment/time as anyone else PLUS higher chances at getting the PvP reward thing. It doesn’t work the other way around for PvE players tho.
This expansion caters to extremes. It has some very good stuff in it (story wise..maps and such are very well made with the premise they will add even more to them under the pretext of LS updates), the specs are interesting…masteries are cool. Promotes more team-play.
They also introduced precursor crafting and so on which is nice.
It also has some very poor sides to it (for me at least). The raids, the way they made them, do NOT! encourage “play the game how you want”. No…it actually forces you to play a certain class you might not like with a certain build you might not want and paying lots of gold for both of them which you might not have or want. It also promotes elitism and bm. For some it’s just content that they will never do because everything in it discourages it. They also introduced the holy trinity bluntly with raids.
Maps get “dead” fast…because all maps have a higher level of difficulty and almost everything requires groups and those groups (for some events) have to have the right gear..the right skills and know what to do otherwise it’s a guaranteed fail. ex: vinetooth and gerent. For some events, after people do them they never do them again because they already achieved their goal so ppl with experience in those events suddenly go away and u are constantly facing new ppl that don’t know what to do and ultimately fail it. Most noticeable at vinetooth.
If you are not playing at a decent hour for your server’s activity, most likely most meta events will fail because of lack of people. Predominantly empty maps.
All in all it’s 50-50. Depends on what you are looking for.
(edited by Rebound.3409)
This is for regular story mode right? Not with difficulty increase or other stuff like that.
The fight for me was kinda easy with thief didn’t know ppl had issues with it. Hell i didn’t even have the spec fully unlocked if i remember correctly. So no fancy dodges and such.
That being said it’s nice u made a well made video about it. Thumbs up.
But I believe one of the components require you to pass four Divisions within a Season for Part IV, meaning when they said everyone should be able to create the back item in due time, that might actually turn out to be a blatant lie for some players. That means needing to pass through Diamond.
I think it’s only that you need to pass through four divisions to clear that tier, so you could potentially do it over the course of several seasons. It would just take you a while. They really do need to tighten that up so that it wouldn’t take years and years.
So….someone who plays (aka exploits) very well and gets to legendary, can obtain the pre (which is more then fair)..but someone who doesn’t play well but still wants them…he should play at worst 4 seasons to get the 4 items needed…right? (considering he only advances the first division and that’s it). If that’s the case i am ok with it…but is it fact or just a theory?
At the tightening up comment you made…they have no reason to do that. It’s in their interest to keep their players ingame for as long as possible…or at least lie to themselves they do but in reality players login for 30 minutes and be done.
There is this ‘report’ function – I’m getting to use it a lot lately.
Yea..but can u really blame raging under this system they have? Maybe the guy who you think is an kitten for raging is actually a nice guy who got hit hard by this system.
(edited by Rebound.3409)
The system actually makes it worse cause if someone stands to lose multiple pips they are going to take it worse.
This^
I am usually a down to earth, nice guy who likes helping and all that jazz..but this system honestly brought the worst in me. I understand loosing matches..but loosing consecutively and grotesquely (400 – xx score dif) you can only handle so much before you just go all-out and rage at things that would never have made me rage in normal conditions.
But hey…at how they have treated & addressed the problem so far it seems it’s intentionally made to be so. Otherwise it would be downwrite stupidity in it’s purest form possible. I can’t image that’s the case with ANet.
The source of this whole problem is the matchmaking itself….not entirely the players. There will always be players who will try to manipulate it (as there will ALWAYS be hackers even if u have the best anti-hack system) but that’s a handful of ppl compared to the rest that just play it. For new players matchmaking is not fair at all.
Also i am curios. How will they sort people who “give up” at a score of ~400 to 60 ? Or do they actually expect ppl to still keep fighting the fight at that score and still have a good morale after being in such matchups ONE AFTER ANOTHER? I will be honest..i have been in this situation several times CONSECUTIVELY….and i went ahead and said “ggwp, finish it faster”…because in my opinion fighting at that score a team that completely annihilates you is not only pointless but just makes your morale go down even more. And yes i WILL do it again when i am in that position. but hey guess what happened….a white knight who was quite literally auto-walking into them called me a bot and reported me at that score. Yes that’s the reports they get….
I bet you 9/10 ppl who went “afk” or just seemed to give up would simply exit the arena if they could…but no..it just forces you back in.
Their so called fix doesn’t address the true problem and it will hit more ppl that just were completely overcome by their kittenty systems rather then hitting people who were failing intentionally and with a purpose. How do i know that? Because they won’t manually check logs for each player to see exactly what happened…or maybe the dialogues that happened during a matchup that made someone give up…etc etc. They will just program a kittenty bot that does X if the player did Y. Exactly like they did when the mass ban for the tree-farming happened some time ago…when players were mass farming trees for foxfire or whatever leafs….and most got banned because a kittenty system thought they were botting.
@Anet will you also punish the players to whom you gave free-wins by making this matchmaking system? How will those free-win 400-xx win-teams be handeled? I am curious how you consider the other side of the coin. They basically got a free-ticket to legendary by your kittenty system and they profited. Or don’t tell me..you consider those legit wins? Yes they completely are..if we play a game that revolves solely around unfairness and you promote unfairness as one of your MAIN PvP systems, yes..actually i urge you to just give them the legendary directly. No use avoiding it at this point right?
(edited by Rebound.3409)
Yes in all honesty i agree with most of what you said except the numbers part for the TD meta. If you have low numbers you obviously can’t do it, and that in most cases is the problem BUT, maps that organize have HUGE issues with the big number of ppl because they overscale the event and ultimately fail it. When you have the exact number of ppl needed (which is rare)..then you have the problem of timers..because of timers, all people should have the correct build and do everything perfect in order to win.
There are so many problems with that meta it’s not even funny….why? i don’t know. I honestly can’t think of any other meta event in this game that is this hard…and for what? For nothing…that’s why people will just do it once (for the mistward helm) and never touch it again. Get what out of it? a few greens/blues? … maybe a skin obtainable via map currency? For that to waste hours of my time and coordinate people? No thank u.
Well this honestly would be the perfect time if you think about it. Nightmare Court with no leader, Mordi screwing up with sylvari’s minds (how was he during all of this?), the Pale tree getting a heavy hit in S2 and a lot more things. This whole thing being part of technically “your” PS.
Yea…apart from unlocking legendary armor, raids are worth nothing else. All rewards are basically trash.
..but again i think the main reason people should do raids is for the legendary armor…and in a way i think that’s how they also intended it.
When i finished the story i was thinking the exact same thing. I have a feeling he will play a very important role in upcoming LS episodes. You have to realize we just got 1 season practically…with a lot more story to come.
- What happened back at the pale tree..how are things
- No celebration no nothing after killing the dragon
- How are Zojja/The generic human dude
- Where is Malyck, where is the other pale tree?
- What’s happening to the egg? Did he get a buff from Mordi’s death? Was that buff a good one or does it have “evil” elements in it?
The list is certainly even longer.
Also read his article: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Malyck
Not born of the pale tree….no tie to the dream at all..he seems completely alien to everything yet he is silvary. How did mordermoth’s awake effect someone like him for example…so on and so forth.
Also from the Wiki, it says he’s invaluable to the Nightmare Court for obvious reasons..he had no dream..nightmare court wanted to get away from the dream and wanted his pale tree…so they were basically after his “log”. How about he takes control over the Nightmare Court, from Faolin (rip) and guides them in a better way then her considering he is “possessing virtues such as loyalty and courage” as the wiki says. Or did Mordi influence him some way?

Awesome to hear that!
This could be an issue with third party winsock. You can reset winsock. Here’s how you can do it.
1.Click the Windows Start button.
2. Type Cmd in the Start Search text box and press Ctrl-Shift-Enter (keyboard shortcut to run Command Prompt as Administrator). Click Continue to allow elevation request.
3. Type netsh winsock reset in the Command Prompt shell, and then press the Enter key.
4. Type netsh int ipv4 reset in the Command Prompt shell, and then press the Enter key.
5. If you use ipv6, type netsh int ipv6 reset in the Command Prompt shell, and then press the Enter key.
This was what solved my patching issues. Was getting them nonstop and even tried redownloading the game from scratch, running anti-malware and so on.
Not only did the steps above fix my issue but my download speed jumped from ~2mb to ~8mb constant.

I am pretty kitten’ sure no company on this planet wants their product release to go wrong. Your letter is useless.
That being said..this is an MMO an it WILL 100% have issues on day 1…specially lag.
Personally i like everything i’ve read. Thumbs up.
It’s to early to QQ about it and none of you have access to the numbers ANet has. Also you don’t take in consideration the plethora of changes that are taking place in HoT including map specific rewards and so on.
It’s way to early to QQ about this honestly. You talk based on your experience now..but the economy will completely change with the new maps, rewards, mats and so on that will be added on top of the map rewards. You have yet to experience or know how those will impact anything at this moment.
I am not saying you are wrong..i am saying you aren’t right because you just don’t have what needs to make a decision on this topic (right or wrong).
People still care about E? I always thought of him as a failed ANet experiment.
Be patient, there will be plenty of things
Let me correct you. “There will be plenty of the same things”
Honestly it would be cool IF the cow cannon would be well done. As it stands, the one you see in open world is “meh” designed. Not visually but technically.
I bet you don’t have cloth and leather…Is that correct? Did i win?
Personal advice. Never play on release date. There will be tons of lag. Wait until the next day.
@OP Your reading & understanding of what you read skills are impressive.
….impressive indeed.
How cheap can you be?
Interesting idea. Not bad.
One thing tho. Doing “stuff” with your guildies is fun but if the rewards for actually gathering the people, coordinating, doing strategies and all that, are not good enough, they won’t do it. A better idea would be to implement new guild-reward-items and give them tokens for successfully doing an event like you described…or even a separate reward list specific to FoTM that could be accessed via a new token. This way you completely separate this event from traditional FoTM but still keep the rewards at the same level.
It’s everywhere regardless of the “game mode”
Just make all classes. In this game you will max out in 1 week or so casually playing. This way in the future whenever you get bored of one class, you have the whole board to pick from.
Honestly it’s their own fault discussions like this rise in their forums. They made a reward system that effectively rewards luck and gambling instead of (or over) participation and commitment.
The Spoiler Anet doesn't know they revealed?

Next big “discovered spoiler, anet accidentally leaked and nobody noticed but him” he will mindblow us with, will probably be that the expansion will have things with thorns.
Why fix when you can just add on top and pretend it’s not broken? Companies have been doing that for years now. Look at Apple.

Ok………………
I mostly agree.
I think there are other ways of “harvesting your lumber” der’….
………………………ok i am done.
Honestly…there’s not much left to “immerse” you in this game….how about the other way around.
What immerses you in GW2?
Playing solo, going offline mode and just exploring a fantastically created game-world……while avoiding hubs at all costs.
To be honest playing this game like an offline RPG works for me with a sprinkle of co-op when I run into random people. That’s the most fun I get now-a-days and it reminds me just how immersive this game can actually be if you avoid the rat-race and work-simulator aspects of this game…..at least until a zerg turns up.
That beats the whole purpose of an mmo…and means it’s either broken or has major problems immersing people into their world. What you said is not a big plus..it’s actually a very big minus honestly.
(edited by Rebound.3409)
Honestly…there’s not much left to “immerse” you in this game….how about the other way around.
What immerses you in GW2?
I like what they did honestly. You can always make a new class or race for a class you like and powerlevel it to 80. It takes like….a few hours to get 80 if you already actively play the game. You have tons of exp & lvlup scrolls from dailies…you can even craft a bit to 80.
I personally have all classes&races maxed out but considering the very disappointing specs they showed i will most likely be forced to not play the class my silvary is in. Even so i still think this is cool.
If you give ppl discounts they will QQ that ANet is greedy and after allegedly “being scammed” as they say, anet doesn’t want to return the money..specially in a time period when a full money refund is mandatory by law from what i know, if the product is not what was advertised etc.
The better option for what you proposed was to have “both options available”…but then you ask yourself…discount for what? Why even apply a discount to a product that hasn’t been released yet. It’s not normal.
@Alecu … forge is a “thing” ….. scrapper could be a “person”. Maybe you mean Forger?
Thoughts of a graphic upgrade in the future?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Rebound.3409
Graphics are “ok” for an mmo. What they can and have to imo, improve is the performance of the game. Right now it’s limited to ancient single core technology mainly.
As for esthetics…better AA would be needed…the AA we have now is a resource eater for basicly nothing.
Do you prefer “dragon mechanic” ?
Rate based on what?
Based on personal thoughts after beta-testing them obviously. Should be easy for ppl who still have their own thoughts…altho those ppl decrease in number on a daily basis.
Personally all specs feel extremely lackluster and not something that make you go “Omg..i finally did it i became X”…they are “meh” at best for me…but here’s a list that points out specs from “meh” to “extreme meh” from my POV
1) Herald – the only reason it’s cool is because the class&spec is completeley new. Everything about him is almost unkown and fresh. That is 90% of the contribution to the “coolness” of this class&spec.
2) Reaper
3) Berserker tied with Chronomancer
4) Scrapper (might move to 3..have to test him out in the next beta)
5) Tempest (COMPLETELY UNDERWHELMING…engineer has more “tempesty” looking skills then eles…terrible design)
6) Daredevil (seriously anet?..a staff?….instead of a “covert sniper” action that would have made the game extremely fun?……a staff anet?)
7) Dragonhunter (i don’t even want to comment on how useless & slow he feels when playing it…not even funny)
Ranger remains unkown…but personally i can’t remember an mmo that had a pet-system and was actually fun to use. As long as this class has a pet for me it will be a big minus.
(edited by Rebound.3409)
So…a class specialization that is all about creating and using electronic robots has an electric theme to the weapon…
and this is shocking to you?
Yea, that pun was bad, but the arguments here are worse.
Yes…because the lightning effect/skill in that screenshot is 10x more impressive then what an ele could ever dream of doing..and that’s a pure elemental magic type. Like the OP stated he can barely do a spark…but the engie? He’s kitteng Gandalf and Sauron in 1 character.
As others said…completely out of place. The animation/effect itself.
Once apon a time there were no fractals……the the big bad patch came….and it gave us fractals. That’s about it.
