gw2 is what they wanted eso to be like because the corporations out there realized that it would be the best mmo of all time they sabotaged the project. But we still know, and we still believe! The truth is out there.

I have a degree in network engineering and I can tell you the whole “account data stored in 2 different places” cop out is complete BS. I can think of 5 different solutions right now that would allow EU+NA to play together with little or no cost to the company. But whatever I guess.

I want AP because even some people act like it doesn’t matter, but AP is the first thing people look at, it carries more weight than any legendary or any skin. and nowadays good arah groups require at least 7k AP. I’m trying to get 11k ap asap and then 15k then just coast to infinity for rest of my life.

what do you mean dry top is permanent? how come stuff like the marionette and thing from he past were not?

been playing since launch but dont have lot of ap cus i missed many dailies and took lotta break but im dedicating myself every single daily every single day – but on top of that should i give priority to my explorer/general/etc achievements or work on the temporary events like dry top? I’ve never done any of the temporary events like dry top and if htey are too hard i don’t want to waste time on them when i can earn ap with the other stuff.

Also, there’s always additional achievements coming with every living story realease. So there will always be new achievement points to get.

I know I’m just worried there will come a point where I will have all the easy achievements done and after I’m capped with dailies/monthlies I’ll fall behind on AP because if you think about it there is a ratio to how much AP maximum possible and how much AP you have and after the daily income stops I don’t want to fall behind.

I’m in NA and I got a couple friends in euro from gw1 and that I have met on forums/online and it’s sucks that we can’t play with each other. Weird though how we can group together, chat, and even send items/gold back and forth – almost as if ANET is teasing us lol. Is there anyway to play with them or will there ever be?

Would be awesome if we could guest together or have a overflow map where we can somehow play together. It would a great change to the game, more so than any new race or armor skin imo.

With 1900 healing (which is the absolute max you can get in the game, food buffs/full life stacks/healing as a main stat on every piece of gear) youll only pull out like 500 HPS, which is only a 150ish HPS increase, but at the cost doing absolutely no dmg and being pretty much just as easy to kill. The only thing that scales ok with healing power on a warrior is vigorous shouts and banner regen

No. Go cavalier armor with zerker weapons and trinkets. Warrior already has a massive health pool without any additional vitality, so soldiers is a waste. They also have very easy access to fury and so dont need as much precision from gear. Hence cavalier

yeah i was also looking at cavalier – see I get confused with Zerk. I mostly do dungeons and people tell me “if ya run anything but zerk imma shlap u!” but when I go full zerk yeah I do good damage but its still not enough dps to kill everything before it kills me, when I go full zerk I find my self getting knocked down, pushed around, beaten down and usually most boss fights end with me in downed state and I HATE that! so what do you recommend for that?

was also thinking of traiting 60602 to get some defense – would that be a good idea?

When people say “use Soldier’s” in WvW, it’s more for simplicity. You will be in the ballpark in terms of stats for where you want to be, but not finely tweaked for optimization. Soldier’s builds are more to get you to a certain level in both survivability and damage output. But you will find most organized guild builds either do not have soldier’s gear at all or have less than 50% soldier’s gear. It’s also to compensate for a lack of composition and other negative things that come with being a PUG in WvW.

I cannot really comment more in-depth because I don’t even know what class your running. But I do think this site should help you with some guidance:

Lol metabattle tells you to run soldiers for wvw and zerk for pve for every “meta” build they have. I hear metabattle is like pvxwiki from gw1, it advertises the “best” setups in the game, but really the metas are only the best on the website. Any good gw1 player will agree that pvx wiki builds SUUUUUUUCKED! I’ve also heard many people who are up there say that DnT releases their builds to mislead people intentionally – take that as you will.

one of the things i love about warr is being able to go afk and come back to mobs beating on me and have my healing signet regen more than they can damage (though this tends to not work in higher level areas)

I was wondering If I got zerk armor + clerics trinkets would that reach my desired goal? I know people say go zerk for pve or soldiers for wvw, but I’m not worried about min maxing because I just play for fund and don’t have any trouble with my own set ups, my question is just if I had zerk armor + clerics trinkets would I regen like a boss? I can just picture healing signet filling up my health as fast as when you go out of combat

basically I want a balance between zerk, vitality, toughness, healing power.

so should i like zerk trinkets + knights and zealots armor?

otherwise I was thinking mostly- zerk trinkets + zerk chest + clerics legs + soldiers healmet + zerk shoulders + clerics gloves + soldiers boots.

My human males all end up looking really ugly can ya share a pic and name some of the best looking options ? (not armor, I mean as far as face, hair, etc..)

A Charr can become a gladium simply by being the lone survivor of his warband, as others will think him a coward who fled, leaving his warband to die, even if this is not the case. Gladium are treated like kitten, and very well could be thrown in prison and forced labour such as this, simply because “they probably deserve it”. No one is going to stand up for these gladium, because who would stand up for cowards other than those that would want people to defend their own cowardice?

Some of those Charr prisoners could have been guilty of nothing but hopelessly watching the rest of their warband, their friends/family slaughtered before them, then the justice system simply assumes that they were somehow the cause of these deaths. Now this extreme PTSD subject is beaten in a forced labour camp for the rest of their shortened lives.

Moral of the story: Don’t be a spineless gladium.

Also There are plenty of people out there looking and able to work without being whipped. Either way my main point was I think it’s more humane to just kill them then keep them alive like that, if you are just sacrificing them, to them life is no better than if the dragons did take over. Either way I don’t like how the charr says don’t kill them because we aren’t sadist yet its okay to whip them and force them to mine ore all day.

Its the one in iron marches where you “motivate” prisoners by whipping them and the heart guy says you can whip them and fight them if they fight back but don’t kill them “because we aren’t sadists.”

I feel it’s much more sadistic to keep someone alive in chains and work them endlessly by whip rather than to just kill them :S

whats the difference betwee the ascended trinkets from laurel merchant and wvw laurel merchant?

i wasted so many laurels but i hear people say the wvw ones are better stats and that you can easily pop in a AR infusion with no mist essence required, but when i compare them the stats are exactly the same! and neither one says anything about being able to take AR… so what gives?

So I logged back into my GW1 account yesterday, just to have a potter about for old times sake.

Did a few “solo” runs including some of the old stuff that I developed for the Ranger’s Beacon in The Jade Sea and The Deep.

Grabbed henchies and heroes and had a few bashes at dropping a froggy sceptre.

Took some folks on a guided tour of the Fissure

Went and capped a Black Widow solo – just because I could.

and then something stopped me in my tracks. I realised that I cared about my toons, felt connected to them. They had a personality and playing the game was FUN!

More than that, I could play GW1 in various styles and no part of the game world was “off limits” or restricted.

And that’s where GW2 has failed. Sure it looks pretty, but there simply isn’t the connection, my toons have no personality and the game is an un-ending grind for cosmetic skins, short term FPS “shoot and scoot” mentality and Anet wasting effort on trivial “improvements” rather than letting players PLAY in a style that suits them.

Sad that after such a short time GW2 has become a pale imitation of its predecessor.

I feel completely opposite, I love gw2 and everything about it. (I played gw1 from launch, it was my favorite game of all time) I logged on gw1 a couple weeks ago and now you couldn’t pay me to play it again.

IMO I can get around fast enough without mounts.

I don’t see the benefit in having multiple accounts considering that most things worth having are account bound.

how do you get the armors statues? do you get a statue in your inventory when you make a set of certain armor? honestly screw this its not worth it to me! you guys think im lazy but im doing a lot in gw2 and I have a mental disability and have to pace myself, and its societies expectations that made my life hell – its hard enough just managing getting through each day without shooting myself let alone all this extra necessary bullkitten

I hoped on my old gw1 account and was wondering – if I link it but don’t have enough points for the fiery great sword in gw2, can I keep working on it and get it or should I link it after I got 10 points?

are the HOM account wide in gw1? for example Can I display a hero on one char, minis on another char and armor on another char and have it add up to 10 points?

yeah it was pretty disappointing, but not surprised that humans suck. then again when 80% of a game is vanity is it really a surprise that 99% of the community acts like stuck up kittens?

Hope its better than EG on SOR, worst guild i have ever been in. everyone always has to +1 each other, even if you say “wow just had an amazing pizza for dinner” I GUARANTEE someones gonna say “heh, I go to a local pizzeria where everything made 100% local ingredients – arguably the best pizza on the planet.” then someone else will say “eh, you havn’t had pizza til you been to Italy, I was there for my brothers wedding – it was awesome.”

its one thing if to happen occassionally cus people are people – but in this guild EVERY conversation turns into a kittening contest to the fact its unreal.

this game is almost perfect but the AP system is very dangerous for me. i been playing since pre launch but only got 3k ap cus i have trouble playing consisntely, i have PTSD and the daily systemt gives me a lot of distress because its so competitive and people are just counting seconds all day for 7pm CST and then its just a all our rush to get as much AP as you can and in the end of the day its just a kittening contest.

but i get lotta anxiety with the WVW dailies cus u cant always control how many player kills u get and where the hell do i find a caravan and stupid get 2 ranks, and pvp i HATE pvp but i make myself do it for the 2 ap points and i just cant take it anymore i just want to overdose on all my meds right now!

how many dailies do u do? if u just do 5 for daily is that enough or will u fall behind in AP? most people have 20k+ ap so should i just find another game since i missed out on so much?

its really frustrating cus not only do you have to manage your AP then you got map completion and all kinds of guild crap to deal with too.

If you can and know that you’ll use the Longbow the most, then craft the weapon, since the stats + raw damage is good, besides the infusion slots.
Backpiece is the best option if you are not certain of the weapon you’ll use, and even if you later want to use another character then you can just transfer it and use with any other weapon.

so you guys think the damage from exotic → ascended is worth it? lotta people told me its mostly vanity and maybe 1-2 dps more :S If so I will do my longbow cus I’m always looking forward to killing stuff faster

I’m content with wearing exotic gear, I have full acsended accessories, rings, etc – but want to make 1 piece of ascended gear – which one would give me the most bang for buck in terms of combat performance and vanity?

I’m thinking the quiver backpack, as I am a ranger and the ascended armors you can’t really show off unless you get into a link war in map chat which I avoid but I guess I could just spam my accessories and then the backpack. Otherwise was thnking the greatbow, but even that I hear is pretty meh damage over exotic but the quiver really seems to stand out imo! lame though cus just yesterday I made the crafting backpack exotic as well as spent 70g for wings >.< but its ok.

starting to work on my medium ascended armor and was wondering which mats do most people usually just buy off the tp and which mats do they try to farm themselves?

for example im starting with zojja’s visage.

mats needed: gossamer thread, crystaline dust, bolt of damask, elonian leather square, berserkers intricate gossamer insignia, glob of dark matter.

They are always so competitive to where it’s extremely annoying.

I had surgery yesterday and as soon as I said it they were all like “eh, i’ve had surgery 5 times.”

“meh, I had it 8 times.”

“well, I’ve had a double bipass…”

And its like they have to 1up you on EVERY little thing.

btw I think warr is the only class atm that can Solo ARAH…? why do people say it sucks then?

But honestly, Warrior and Ranger are my 2 favorite classes hands down! I love them both and that’s all I want to play from now on. I have 1 of each class and many level 80s, but I love warrior and ranger the best.

Is it okay If I just play my warrior and ranger from now on? Or do I HAVE to gear my other classes as well? I can be good with all classes but the others are just not fun to me at all. So is it okay if I just play warr and ranger?

I’ve been playing off and on since pre launch but I never went after 100% completion cus people always told me it was hard and i have anxiety disorder and was too scared – lately i’ve been working on my self esteem and was able to finish some challenges I had in another MMo so thought now would be a good time to try 100% in gw2.

any thoughts/tips?

UPDATE: I talked to a friend of mine who is an ANET dev, and he said they released a stealth update for gw2 which kinda ‘nerfs’ SSDs…. I’ve had my SSD for 1.5 years and never had a problem with gw2 or anything else, but after my clean install I’ve had these issues.

Basically the update puts an extraneous load on your SSD causing it to freeze up, why ANET doesn’t want us to use SSDs remains a mystery. Maybe people are loading in too fast? or who knows… I’m using a WDC 7200 RPM HDD atm and all my previous issues are gone. Hopefully they won’t nerf my GPU next for looking too nice… Corporations. Anyone remember back when they banned Kripparrian for “farming weapons that sell for ‘too much’ gold”…. And you got xbox micro transactions completely out of control, stupid republicans, bad enough they want to ruin the world, now they gotta ruin gaming.

My PC specs are godly overkill. I can run the game at 60 fps, I can browse with lightning speed – but I just did a clean install of windows, updated all my drivers but when I download gw2 I can download just fine, but as soon as I open my web browser, my PC freezes.

PVP in MMO’s are a joke. You can’t do any damage to the enemies, you use all your skills and their health bar doesn’t move. Same way in every MMO. People who say they love PVP are just like the people offline who say they love sports – they all hate it but say they love it to impress each other.

I have had this account since pre launch but until I found about champ train and etc I would only play for a week a month then get frustrated and quit. Now I have gotten really good at the game however I feel like its too late to do anything because people who have been playing consistently since launch have more AP than I will ever have and I will never catch up. It’s so freaking stressful trying to get AP and the first thing anyone ever does when they see you in game is look at your AP and most people won’t even talk to you if you have less than 8k AP.

And by the time I get more AP, the others will have even more and we can never catch up. And then you got people saying stuff like, “oh, don’t worry about AP – just have FUN and ENJOY!” but the reality of the situation is that if you don’t have high AP you aren’t worth anything to your guild, or the people in map chat. All day they just brag about how they can finish monthlies in 30 minutes and have 4 legendries on each character, and I can’t cope with it all anymore I wish I could just die IRL cus the stress of this game as well as everything is just too much now

I just upgraded my PC and I still get bad frame rates when i got tons of people around me, (ie: wvw, meta events, etc)

my internet has always been 40mbps.
have all the latest drivers and windows up to date.
I also did a clean install of windows so don’t have any gunky programs, just gw2 installed.

So I’m hoping I’ll upgrade to 8gb will run smoothly. It’s really irritating during events and stuff when I’m getting 15 FPS and people around me like “hm? I’m playing on a 400$ laptop with no lag here….”

IDK what the problem is, cus I can play BF4 on Ultra with 40+ FPS… so how is gw2 harder to run than bf4??

I feel like guardians are very well loved in dungeons, and I’ve been playing mine more and was wondering what all you’d recommend. I use staff and GS, and strength in numbers, and some signets mostly atm. what are the most common and useful setups to have? things that really help the group and make people say “WOOT A GUARDIAN!!”

I always feel safer when I see a guardian in the party, I think it’s the shield icon.

I like ranger the best and i want to dedicate to playing it full time (mine is 80 and geared), however i hate doing dungeons on ranger so was wondering what else can i do that’s fun and profitable? i like making money through dungeons but hate doing them on my ranger – before people chime in with the “any class can do anything” speech, I realize that, but I don’t like doing dungeons with ranger. So what else can/should I do? Looking for stuff that’s fun, meaningful, makes gold, and or stuff other people actually do. Otherwise the QD train seems to be the only thing I like doing, I like it because it’s nice to see other people, its nice to chat casually, but it gets boring and sucks when it gets busy and the train is completely off the tracks, and now that they are doing the megaserver BS i feel like its gonna just totally suck.

So what else should/can i do? what do you like to do for fun? I like things that are low stress and fun, in almost all MMOS I prefer lower level content, but I’m getting really sick of just doing dailies everyday.

People online are weird, sometimes you can say something and it totally gets taken the wrong way, sometimes ‘officers’ are in a bad mood and decide to take it out on someone else, but either way it’s best to let it go, if a guild is gonna kick you over something so trivial they are not worth being in IMO.

This is the best guide ever – not only is it 100% genuine, it is flexible with all play styles….this is not cookie cutter build, it teaches you how to play so you can make your own build and be a good player, dreamy abaddon is one of the best teachers I have ever seen.

If you do not wish to do AP then don’t, however, they will be done naturally so nothing to worry about there.

Also, anyone who judges you based on your AP is an idiot.

I have taught new players lots of things in game and they have low AP but play better than those with more APs.

APs do not determine how skilled you are, it only determines how much grind you did.
You want to play with players who will judge you based on your skills, but most importantly, players who will have fun playing with you along the way.
