If you fire the sword off it does 2400 damage and the hammer 800. It might be our highest burst spec. The poor ranger would be toast.

Leap + Symbol of wrath + spin to win + blinding blade + hammer + sword

Omg it does some nice damage in a short amount of time

I had missed out on GW1. I was playing NWN online and loving it, but once I got doing MMO’s I never got around to it. GW2 was supposed to be the spiritual successor to GW1 and improve upon it. I feel betrayed. This expansion is not Guild Wars. Vertical progression is not Guild Wars. I guess I missed out.

I like to skirmish. Block bridges, charge the flanks, destroy siege, that sort of thing. I use gs/hammer.

JI, Wall and SY are on my bar. Basically, I prefer to Leap at the foe and hit JI at the same time, then WW cutting off his way back to the zerg.

I run AH and use the virtues to heal myself and Renewed Focus to escape if the foes turn on me. Wall buys alot of time too.

If the foes start running I pull ou the hammer and start beatin on them to keep the pressure up. Even beating on fallen foes to keep the protection buff on your team.

I use 0/0/30/30/10.

It seems to be a nice combo of offense and defense.

I highly reccomened mace/focus as your second weapon set. Basically, these two weapons make you very tanky and are very easy to play.

I would use gs as my primary. Get off the leap/symbol/spin then switch weapons to mace/focus and fire off what pleases you, the combo of 4, 2, 3 and the 1 chain, hit in no particular order works really well.

Grab 15 radiance and 5 virtues. Then 20 honor. Then rest in valor. Basically the 0/15/30/20/5 version of crithammer.

I’d run Wall of Reflection to block projectiles, the -10% damage signet, and Hold the Line for regen.

She doesn’t have to dodge much with this build. Just dump in a bunch of damage with the gs then faceroll mace/focus till mobs are done. Rinse and repeat.

Ascended Gear Availability in WvW

in WvW

Relentliss.2170

The current costs for a normal piece of pvp gear needs to be dropped to about 150-200 tokens.

Ascended gear could be about 500 badges.

I will be interested to see how much Karma they cost when they introduce Ascended gear for Karma. I am guessing 100-150k Karma.

Either way I am saving up both indefinitely.

As to Warhammer, last time I played, maybe 2 years ago, they had a very good gear progression for pvp in place. But initially the pve to pvp was stupid.

Lol has a hundred characters and there are some that are used mostly by the pro’s and others that seem to favour pub’s. This makes balancing a bit easier for them. They can balance some characters for nub use and others for pro. Gw2 does not have this luxury.

Imho balancing aroud 5v5 tpvp, played only by 1% of the player base is dumb in the extreme.

As to thieves, thieves are like Eve great for pubstomping but not used as much in pro ranks.

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I was wondering about condition dmg in spvp and earning glory. Do direct damage dealers have an advantage in accumulating glory via kills in spvp?

Thanks!

Here’s a thought. Decrease the stat increase slightly, simply adjust the % based stat to be equal (7% instead of 10) and remove stats from the infusions. 10% crit damage instead of 7% is a massive increase. You could even make it 8% for the hsmsters in all of us.

Now you have gear that is only slightly better. Depending on whether your build needs runes, Exotic armor is only slightly less and people will notice little difference. At the same time you have your little treadmill for the hamsters and kept your horizontal progression.

A blue infusion, although only +5 vit, it is still a stat gain. And it’s only blue, they send they will be adding more with higher rarity. And this thread is not about the imbalance, it is about adding a vertical progression. 3% more or 10% or whatever, it is still vertical progression.

The infusions are worrying to the extreme. This is going to be a lot more than the 8% or so power creep people originally talked about. Its going to end up being a 20%+ power creep.

Not to mention, what if there ends up being an infusion that reduced damage in pvp ala Resilience?

I thought I was done with Gear based pvp when I bought GW2. That was their promise. Guess I was lied to.

No. Dev’s said previously there would be no permastealth in this game.

There is currently such a state of stealth that it is pretty much permanent. Unlike other games you can stealth, attack and restealth repeatedly. AND you can damage people without being seen. It is absurd.

While individual skills may indeed be working as intended, combined groups of skills are not. The dev’s need to reevaluate each stealth skill and look at tneir cumulative effect.

Stealth was intended for hit and run tactics. What I currently see is stealth, restealth and grief tactics that are too powerful.

Scepter - Orb

in Guardian

Posted by: Relentliss.2170

Relentliss.2170

I guess I’m one of the few who love the Scepter as as it is. It is and always has been a mid-range weapon, which is where it shines. It only has 1200 range because in closed beta people cried and cried that melee wasn’t viable in WvW and Guardians couldn’t get kills in sieges without a longer range weapon. So they tacked on 300.

And people in beta were absolutely correct.
I’ve said this again and again: if Arenanet wants the Scepter to be used at mid-range, they should make it’s maximum range mid-range. If a weapon has 1200 range, I expect it to be useful at that range.

For once Ynna and I agree on something. They could just copy the mechanic of any other scepter 1 skill on any other class and people would be happy. Necro would be perfect. Scepter 1 could work exactly the same but apply a burning instead of bleeding, then we would have a weapon for those who would like to do condition damage. Bang problem solved.

11/15 Patch Predictions???

in Guardian

Posted by: Relentliss.2170

Relentliss.2170

Tbh they should not be using tpvp for their buffing and nerfing. It is a very limited format. And its not even that popular. The bunker build played there is seldom used anywhere else. Ruining all our defensive capabilities over this unpopular game mode would seem pretty silly.

WvW is much more popular and in that play mode Guardian is very balanced. His defences are just enough to hold him up under a bit of focus fire, but not forever. If he can buy 10 or 15 seconds for his teammates he has done well. If he can’t take a bit of focus fire, he is useless.

1. Retaliation will be taken off some traits and passive skills. Made to be a skill you have to fire off. Maybe tied solely to the hammer, mace and gs symbols.
2. Scepter 1 will be improved.
3. Some of the traits in the zeal line become merged and improved.
4. Spirit Weapons start hitting moving targets, getting a buff from a ranger fix. One of their traits get merged so there is some flexibility if you spec them.
5. Spirit Weapons the bow follows the guardian around and actually starts doing something.

This is a nice all round build. It uses Monks Focus instead of Altruistic Healing, but you could run AH if you were going to run Mace a lot.

I really don’t see how a dot that damages you just for not having the right gear is actually adding any fun or challenge. It’s just a poor compensation for a poor dungeon design team. They really should hire a few guys off Rift to come and fix their dungeons. Its the one thing that game did do well.

Welcome gear treadmill’ like it or not.

What they are doing is exactly what Rift does or did you already forget Rift has two PvE only statistics specifically designed for PvE progression? That if you don’t have cap or near cap values, you are not doing damage or dieing in 2 hits?

Rifts many stat checks was one of the worst tnings about the game.

My point on Rift was only that the team was able to make some good dungeons with memorable boss encounters. It had nothing to do with their gear progression.

Weapons have many CC effects and they have a nice fear as a class skill too. The Hammer alone has 4 CC skills. Damage? Let me count the ways. Just roll your face across the keyboard. Defense? This has been a pretty even fight. Now that the server rankings are evening out the 3 way fight leads to much more balanced fights.

.

In this game and most others Mobility=Survivability, in which Thieves have in abundance. While that does figure in on anyone’s excel tables like health and toughness, being able to go inv when they want, run faster than everyone else and blink around, not to mention healing while invisible, equals a heck of a lot more survivability than 3k armor and some mild regeneration.

Badge Farm Prices?

in WvW

Posted by: Relentliss.2170

Relentliss.2170

I think the fact I have enough Karma to buy a full set of Karma gear and only 1 piece of badge gear says there is an imbalance.

I don’t think it is.
Consider if you’d farmed that karma in Orr. You’d have that gear and some 400-lvl crafting mats.

Consider if you’d farmed that karma in lower zones. You’d just have the karma gear.

Consider if you got all the karma in wvw. You’d have that gear, and badges.

So the badges gear isn’t supposed to be your main source of gear, but rather a supplemental perk, sorta like crafting is for Orr farmers.

I haven’t done anything but WvW. I’ve earned enough karma from it to buy an entire set of gear, but only enough badges for only one piece. Seems a bit odd considering there is nothing special about this gear at all. That seems that the prices of this gear is a bit off.

80% base HP difference makes balancing very hard

in PvP

Posted by: Relentliss.2170

Relentliss.2170

The problem as stated by the OP quite accurately, is that by giving some classes such small health pools they then must buy survivability, thus limiting their class options. Suddenly, I have to put half my traits an d most of my gear into defense, just to survive adequately. By that stage I might as well make a bunker, as I can’t trait enough dps to do that effectively.

With my Warrior I mainly spec damage and I still have survivability. With my Guardian I can’t do that, I need to put over half my resources into defense or I drop like a fly.

We don’t need to make mandatory gear treadmills, we make all of it optional
