overall, i dig it. looks amazing on humanoid females (as it should)…looks “odd” on men.
the helmet looks a bit too tall (would scale the height down maybe 10%-15%), but the rest of the female outfit is great.

while i do miss farming Jormag adds for corrupted lodestones and T6 mats…or certain “defend” story/ open world instances in Orr, it was probably best for the economy and game that stalling or deliberately failing events/instances was removed from game.
honestly, as great as some of the old farm events were, you can get almost asmuch just zerging silverwastes and digging up chests………..so farming loot is there if you want it….it just doesn’t rely on failing /stalling events

it was bugged and not dropping….once the bug was fixed, it dropped like rain.
anyway, i prefer the simpler halloween scythe…..happy i got it during the first halloween event.

Looks like the trinity is coming to GW2… Rev can heal more than most healers in WoW…
Now you just need a tank that can provide prot + stab reliably and pure dps teams won’t stand a chance anymore.
One could only hope. I know people like their Zerg fests, but man is it boring… I’ve never been so disinterested in pve until GW2. So much potential but no reason to pursue any of it.
agree……its nice to be self sufficient, but having strong healers will allow them to create very different pve content….which would be welcome.
as for the preview, i thought the ventari legend looked really fun to play…..neat mechanics w/the tablet skills…though the 2 heals seems tricky to use. really like the staff skills from a pve prespective.

0The Ventari skills don’t seem to be compatible with racial skills at all, nor have we had any answer on if a Rev will even be able to slot them in place of some of the legend skills. At this point, I think we can say that the Revenant will be unable to use racial skills.
How is this fair when compared to the other classes? Well, a quick look at how we’ll earn our racial skills under the new trait/skill system will answer that question.
I think you’ll find racial skills will be dispensed with entirely.
i can only hope.
outside of that asura daze, they stink….and only tempt new players to waste skill points on kitten skills they’ll never/should never use. the first thing Anet should have done w/ that NPE was kill race skills and reimburse those who spent points on them.
enjoyed the ventari preview…..looks fun to play…..but pretty much confirms we will not be able to customize utilities. disappointing, but will wait until whole class is revealed before i bury it.

in terms of games:
mostly Pillars of Eternity….solid late 90’s-style/DnDish game…..plays so different than GW2 that it won’t train habits i’ll have to untrain.
every once ina while, DA: Inquisition….fills my “skyrim-itch”…plays oddly similarly to GW2
but also log in every day to GW2 to run thru all my alts parked at JPs and to advance the log-in rewards.

really hope its “challenging group content” that ISN’T just a wyvern rehash (or showing the more difficult versions). crossing my fingers that it’s instanced…or at least hybrid like the Marionnette event from LS1 (still the most fun/best designed group event in the game).

would love to see druid staff replicate guardian GS….heavy aoe dmg with vine-themed cc and gap closer…..power melee weapon, not condi or heal-support
utilities – stances that effect druid and pet/allies….while maybe “boring” these can easily fill in some ranger weaknesses and have pretty cool druid themed effects/animations
probably won’t see transformations/animal shapeshifting, as that has been don as a norn thing………would expect it to be entirely plant-based (which fits HoT theme).

I think the Revenant is part of ArenaNet’s new model of “choices are too hard for our players, we need to give them as few as possible!”. Not only players don’t get to swap weapons, we also don’t get to swap utility skills outside of swapping legends (and even those are limited to two at any given time).
Which means, build diversity for the Revenant is incredibly, massively low.
And isn’t that the direction ArenaNet is going for? I wouldn’t be surprised if they just remove two thirds of the announced traits and just claim that each trait line will have only one trait per tier, because, you know, “choices” and all.
I think someone at Anet mentioned in an interview sometime early-mid last year that some 90%+ of players set their utility skills according to their internal data and never changed them. I remember talking to guildies about that when it put out there. So, knowing that it’s no suprise they are moving to dumb things down because to 90% of the playerbase it’s simply not going to matter.

not likely…..Colin specifically talked around that question when he was asked if there would be new dungeons in HoT… only said there would be “new challenging group content” through a grin and nervous laughter.
seeing as there is no dungeon team, and hasn’t been one for ages….i would expect open-world and gated by masteries. could also be larger events opened as new guild missions…maybe even instanced if we’re lucky…something like defending your guild hall.

i like outfits, in theory….as its nice to have a way to swap looks on a whim and not use up wardrobe charges……but it would be nice to have a higher ratio of armor skins to outfits than what’s currently being produced (since the intro of the wardrobe system, they’ve basically phased out armor skins almost completely)
armor skins are basically dead in GW2……outfits are much easier to program and it’s clear enough people will still buy them even tho they can’t mix/match and have fewer dye options. if people weren’t buying, they wouldn’t be making them
they will have a few new armor pieces in HoT as rewards linked to elite specs (we’ve seen some already…though not full sets)….and more in the future probably earned like the carapace skins from LS2.

one a year is most likely……..so just based on warrior (and not counting using offhands as mainhands and vice-versa), that would be 3 yrs after HoT. that would be a 6yr game life…..if it all ended then, it would be a highly successful game.

I love how people keep ranking the Reaper as last, but are unable to even say a reason.
reaper doesn’t bring necro into the pve dungeon meta due to lack of the support skills/buffs valued in instanced party content. many were hoping it would…..we’ll see if the blood trait line rework will.
it makes necro a more effective version of what it was….a damage dealer and a debuffer. sadly, debuffing is inferior to blocks/blast finishers/reflects, in pve content due to mob/boss AI and attack rates. that needs to change greatly for necro debuffs to be valuable outside of openworld or wvw zerg

unless you absolutely want range, i don’t know why you wouldn’t prefer the new DS on reaper. they probably need to look at base DS to bring it up to snuff w/ reaper DS

i like them all in some way….and we can’t really judge objectively until we actually play them in HoT content…..but for fun:
1) DH…..pve beast, and access to a condi build
2) chrono – gives mesmers more things to do in wvw…and overall a really elegantly designed spec that should be insanely fun to play in all modes
3)reaper….pve beast (damage-wise), fixes some of the general necro problms (just not group support valued in dungeons) can’t see this not being my class of choice for open-world roaming

i’d keep it as is, so the skill would work w/ death nova trait as a nuke.
if i had to change it………5 bone minions (or 3 bone fiends) that have a slow HP degen (maybe last 15-20 sec)

excited to try a siphon MM reaper….cleric/zealot mix. the ability to hit 100% crit chance w just traits and no stat investment is amazing and opens up a ton of gear stat options (and likely to be nerfed).

if i wanted to use the shout as a death nova nuke, then yes, jagged horrors will die fast and blow up quicker.
if i wanted to use it as a vamp MM….give me a sturdier version of jagged…or 5 bone minions on a slow HP degen…or 3 bone fiends on a slow hp degen

will likely use strength runes in pve…..so the aoe weakness/ self- might shout will likely be used (locust, BiP, and that shout)…………might use the “rise” minion one in an MM (as a nice damage nuke with death nova trait…would also test to see how it works in a siphon MM build)

the utilites were underwhelming…..but the new DS is amazing when traited for (tons of might and vuln and cleave…and mobility), and the GS will be a fantastic 2nd set in a power build (with dagger/focus as your main) giving us more cleave, a heavy hitter, and a good 5 mob pull.
they did a lot to improve the necro with this spec ion both pve and wvw (not sure about pvp)……….and if the pve content of HoT is different enough from the current pve content, then the lack of blast finishes or boon support for allies will sting much less.

Nope, won’t happen, The Reaper shroud 1 is a Faster hiting cleave, if that ads vuln on every hit it will already be very good, they won’t improve it.
Rather, base death shroud needs a buff to keep up….
this……that reaper shroud 1 skill is beastly. vuln and might on a very fast skill.

yes. the new DS works SO much better offensively with DS traits than the old one. so much cleave and aoe. can easily and quickly build and maintain max vuln and might stacks….. can’t see why a power or syphon spec wouldn’t take it. even MM
condi builds will prob ably be a push or slight advantage to normal necro (reaper will be more defensive condis)
neither has an advantage in terms of ally support…none exists in pve and maybe backline necro will be more useful than front line tank reaper in wvw

i really hate having cast times on these shouts…..most effects aren’t really much better than mantras, which have multiple casts and no cast time once charged………and the only stunbreak is pointless with that cast time. i don’t see how these were “so overpowered we needed to add cast times”. if they had one ounce of direct ally support along with these offensive affects, then i might agree………but they don’t.
only shout i really like is the aoe weakness/might shout.

I’m more concerned with Reaper’s Shroud. I was really hoping they’d give us a NEW mechanic for the Reaper, cause Anet can’t balance DS worth a crap. Two health bars DO NOT equal the loss of mobility and good utilities.
yeah…. i was really hoping for a different way to utilize life force, instead of just a melee DS.
like give us a new bar of 5 skills that replace DS and have them be spammable with lifeforce as a resource similar to theif initiative…..or having the 5 skills be toggle auras the drain your lifeforce. you could use one at a time or any number of them all at the same time in combination(all 5 auras at once will drain you lifeforce very fast.)

Corner stacking isn’t really a thing anymore after the fall of FGS and Anet has heard your plea from what we’ve seen with the trait changes/condition changes that will be taking place in the game. But the only true reason Zerk is meta is to get it done and over with as fast as possible to be able to do again. At one point gw2 did function around having variety especially in high level fractals where people brought cleric guards. But now that people have become more skilled it’s as simple as having minor utility but maximum damage.

zerk will always be meta unless mobs AI is designed to make full zerk impossible (extreme defense against non-condition damage + very high AI attack rates)

……I love the elite spec, don’t care if it doesn’t bring group support, and if I wanted to support my group, I wouldn’t be playing my Necro, I’d be playing my Guardian or Elementalist.
what you’re basically saying, is that its fine if necros don’t have a useful role in party/instanced pve content.
because currently, the other classes either surpass our dps potential while also providing superior support ( blocks, aegis, reflects, stealth, ally teleports, unique ally damage buffs, etc), or are close enough that the party support they bring more than makes up for lower damage potential.
that said, the traits and skills still need to be released, so there may end up being a place for the necro in a party….but to say their shouldn’t be is kinda silly and i’m sure not what Anet intended.

will reserve judgement until after tomorrow, but so far what we know will not make us desired in parties/instanced content that exists in the CURRENT game. 25 vuln is nice, and high chill uptime will be nice vs. mob packs w/ non-glacial attack rates………but block and reflects and unique offensive ally buffs are needed for necro to be considered.
that said, my just for kittens&giggles solo/open world zealot MM just became more immortal and gained a bunch more damage options. so overall, i won’t be too upset if they leave us out of the instanced content meta again (which, of course, doesn’t take into account what the HoT pve meta will be).
