increasing the cooldown on gs is something i don’t understand but it’s still beta so i’m sure robert will listen to feedback.
So far they’ve done the exact opposite of listen to our feedback when it comes to reaper.

It is really hard to be optimistic about a class when the balance team is taking away all of the goodies before Reaper hits the shelf.
agree. with every iteration of these elite specs,, i get less enthused….and reaper is worst offender.

you just want to bunch them up so you can staff 11111111 them to death and get the most profit of anyone else with the minimum effort, that’s why I am using knockback. The less damage you and your engineer flame throwing friends do, the more likely it will be that I get on the damage table high enough to qualify for a loot drop.

more system reworks……no one reworks their existing systems more than Anet.
they’re nice for sure (very happy for ascended salvaging), but i’ll care more if/when they actually add a new fractal or two…..long overdue and will be hugely disappointing if they don’t add at least one new fractal w/ HoT
that said, reducing the time investment necessary to get something out of fractals is a great change. kudos.

liberal use of Big Ol’ Bomb/Air Blast and especially PB Shot are just brutal.
in the early days of the game, Banish was a problem too….but you just don’t see many hammer guardians in open world evens for it to matter now.

I guess so too, but that would be very disappointing. First wave 3 elite specs got revealed, then a really long break and now we get just one reveal and have to wait again?
sure, but it doesn’t mean we won’t get some HoT info….personally, i’d like to see more on new maps/zones or more importantly: “challenging group content”. what will be disappointing is another tournament announcement, developer spotlight, or “fan art” feature.

I’m running a variant of Guangli’s Sinister setup in Dungeons and general PVE (such as Silverwastes) on my 2nd Ranger and it’s working well. Below is the dungeon setup I use but you can sub out Sun Spirit for Spike Trap at any time for utility purposes.
You give up so much of what makes Guang’s build great. Your changes don’t improve the damage of the build. If it suits your tastes better, then great. But Guang’s build is the more efficient by far.
don’t know about that…..if we’re going full sinister, i might rather have all those dmg modifiers in marksmanship, than companions might and honed axe in beastmastery. S/D 2nd set can keep me from using dodges most of the time….so that’s a 20% personal dmg modifier +5% on pet…that’s pretty significant
might also go flame legion runes for another easy to maintain 7% dmg modifer

Sinister gear would obviously be the best pick, but for the purposes of being a cheapskate, I was thinking of running carrion armor/weapons with sinister trinkets (I already have all the trinkets).

rabid would be better than carrion due to the precision…and yeah, you’d not be optimal, but you’ll be fine…the difference isn’t that much since you have the trinkets

disappointing none of the traits grant self-stability, but depending on where the numbers end up, i can see trying out tempest in pve with D/x Fresh Air. May not prove optimal, but might be a fun change of pace on a solo pve build.
interesting how scepter mainhand is completely ignored by this elite spec
also, that GM trait that nullifies chill (among other CCs) really is a kick in the balls to reapers.

This Elite Spec is so so awful. I could give 2 million reasons why, but why should I when my words will go on deaf ears… This proves they haven’t listened to the community at all… We have a Elite Spec based on support!!!!!! Everything else we have is SUPPORT!!!! This doesn’t even change the way the ele plays!!!!! This is just Horrible. I am glad I didn’t preorder, maybe I will be back next x-pac… See you guys when GW2 The Awakening of Jormag comes out, than may we get a true weapon and a true Elite spec.

i’ll wait and see.
the traited 15sec cooldown doesn’t bother me (6 extra seconds isn’t game changing) if the skills are worth it and there are traits that will provide enough stability to pull them off.
as of now, you’d be forced to take Armor of Earth or offhand focus to even be able to do them. its cool if it takes a mantra traited mesmer to blow 3 MoDs to interrupt you….but you have to be able to self-generate enough stability to not be interrupted by a single cc….and preferrably it wouldn’t lock you into having to use AoE cantrip……..that said, you’ll be using that skill anyway outside of pve…..but in pve, a trait would be preferable.

The difference is simple with that. ahem
Sword Mesmer…is still good. The strongest ability also gives you a high evade uptime. Oh…yeah…and a vuln stacking auto-attack that properly cleaves.
Mesmer might be in need of another main hand, but it still has a melee option. Not a close ranged, point-based AoE option.
no doubt ele was it worse….but either way its a curious decison on Anet’s part to ignore glaring weapon deficiencies in some classes.

If I read correctly….4 core legends (trait lines) and one elite legend/line, for 5 total. That’s one less than all the other classes.

Less utilities w/ no customization

not seriously, but for soloing open world (boss vets/champs/events w/ lots of mobs) i find a spite/death/blood MM w/ zealot gear to be the easiest of all the classes. its basically invincible….maintaining scholar rune bonus + your minions’ health is pretty easy….so the actual damage you do is pretty decent.

right now its balanced for the future reaper shroud….and sucks balls for death shroud.
trick is giving something to both shrouds worth having
i think combining suggestions 2,3 and 4 is the way to go.
so trait gives both:
A) AoE burn on entering shroud (1 stack@5 sec)….works well on shroud flashing builds and makes reaper shroud even better at melee
B)shroud skill 1 inflicts 1 stack (3 sec)burn at melee range (whatever that ends up being for reaper shroud); a 1stack (4sec) burn at range up to 600; 1 stack (5 sec) at range up to 900, and 2 stacks (3 sec) at range higher than 900………..this will at least start to make up for the inherent disadvantages LB will have vs. reaper shroud melee cleave, by giving better single target damage

honestly, they shouldn’t nerf burns…just how some classes apply them.
but this is Anet balance…..reducing the damage formula is way easier than balancing how each class applies it.
so instead of editing a few traits/skills per class every month or 2 to get it in line, they’ll just nerf the damage of the condition and call it fixed.

they chose the worst option (because it required the least work/ gave players the least choice…that’s the new motto….remove choices)…..but meh…its kinda nitpicking. all my 80’s had tons of HP’s left over (i think the lowest had 120-ish left)….and most people will want everything for at least one alt of each class for experimenting.

this point has been made for over 2 yrs.
everyone but the speed run dungeon folks would like to see a change that sometimes requires different gear to be optimal/useful….provided rewards made the extra-time investment worthwhile.
but chances of the rewards being worth the effort is VERY slim…it would literally have to offer the equivalent of legendaries, for people to not simply abandon it and migrate back to the fastest/most efficiently rewarding content.
so ultimately, the zerk meta ends up being most acceptable/fair. the better you get at being a glass cannon that knows all dungeons inside out, the quicker you are rewarded. those that don’t want to zerk/stack can form their own groups that allow for the specific playstyle they want to engage in…at the pace they wish to engage in.
