My history as a warrior….I must admit I haven’t WvWed much and probably this explains (at least partially) my difficulties at finding a build that suits me.
Initially I used a typical zerker build: didn’t fit me….too squishy….
then I moved to Hambow: not bad but as an old role-player….I cannot stand carrying a hammer around
then I moved to a condi build, loved it and I was doing quite well. I picked it up again a few days ago….oh boy….tanky but very poor damage
After reading around and thinking about my play-stile I decided to start using the build I linked underneath. I need the HP > 20k and 3k armour because it makes me feel safer: I’m far from being a pro in wvw so more armour and HP will help when I make some silly mistakes. 2k+ power and Crit chance at 60% should offer decent (maybe not brilliant) damage
What do you think? I would really welcome any suggestions (I even considered full knight accessories). Many thanks

hi guys…what are your thoughts on something like this? I wanted something tanky but with decent damage…what do you reckon?
hello all, what do you think of this variation on a medi build? Definetely less dps but perhaps lot tankier….suggestions or hints are welcome!!
how about a condi warrior? would this be a good option for WvW?
hello, always been a fan of well done RvR but as a noob I need to ask some questions to get a clearer picture.
I’m looking for a ‘tactic’ enough RvR where there is a bit of strategy and not only ‘blob following’. I like spacious maps but at the same time I’d rather not play in a desert.
I probably have other questions but I’d be very grateful if someone could outline the main difference between the mmorpgs I mentioned. So far I’m playing eso and strangly enough for me I got completely addicted to the PvE…so well done!!!!
And one last question…coming from an old roleplayer…is there any sense of faction belonging?
Hello guys, I’m posting here because I can’t decide which class to pick between guardian and warrior [the focus is WvW].
My Role Player story would suggest guardian as I’ve always tended to use holy warrior/Templar like classes. Role playing aside I’m now more interested in facts. A heavy armour char is a must.
I’d like to play a versatile class that can roam well but also survive in zerg vs. zerg. My ideal character is able to deal decent amount of damage whilst being able to access healing skills (remember the warrior priest from Warhammer or the Paladin in wow?). Using group utilities is also a plus!
What I would like to avoid is the classic clunky char that you’re not going to kill but at the same time deals no damage at all.
What would you suggest? Many thanks to anyone who will be able to help!!!!!

why so much hate towards Condi builds?!?!?
apologies…I forgot to mention that the build I’m looking for is WvW focused
some kind of hybrid dps/support would be awesome!!!!
@Harbinger: what makes AH dps superior?
thanks
After returning to GW2 I picked up my old guardian and I must admit I’m getting a bit bored with the current meta options (condi builds? mmmm never been too convinced so I won’t even consider them).
The AH is ok but I find it a bit tedious. The Medi build and its variations are great but as soon as I step into a larger scenario I find myself being next to useless.
Is there any other useful build that isn’t Medi or AH?
Many thanks for any help
thank Tien: crystal clear!!!
a full condi shouts warrior. Imo a hybrid build doesn’t pack enough damage to be a threat in small group fights.
sorry to be a pain: how would that build look like?
something like this?
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fJIQNAscTjMdU5ZZIeewJagqgC7iHA6uh0nwIkCA-TlBEwAk0HkQJ4M1fSu/AAzfCV+RKAIGDA-w
I’m back to GW2 but I think I remain a rather crap build maker. I’m trying to play an hybrid build that mixes condition and normal damage.
I came out with 2 options:
1. more defensive one with healing shouts
2. less HPs but overall more offensive
Can someone help me tweak the 2 builds I posted? Do I have to ditch them or is there something I can use,
I used to run CELESTIAL condi healing shouts
S/s, lb
Soldier runes
0/0/4/6/4Got so kitten ed boring though.
what kind of gear were you using?
yes, “some people” don’t know what a celestial build is…….blasphemy!!!!….big deal!
Some people…

is there such thing as a hybrid condi/power build?
how are condi warriors doing now?
I’ve looked at the metabattle site and cond warriors don’t seem to be considered highly!!
Any comments?
After being disgusted by Archage and disappointed by various other MMORPGsI decided to come back to mother GW2.
I’ve already reached LV80 with 2 chars and I’ve already got Exotic gear…what can I do next?
1. I’d like to get back into WvW: what are the main changes?
2. crafting: never done it before…..where do I start? is it worth it?
3. daily quests…..what’s the point?
4. what is the difference between dungeons and fractals? is it difficult nowadays to find groups for dungeons?
am I missing anything? apologies for the barrage of questions!!!
is it worth opting for a pure condi build or is it more convenient to pick a more hybrid (condi/power) build?
could anyone give me an example of a ‘celestial build’?
hello, as it says on the title I used to have a guardian and a war and I’m about to come back to GW2 after the crap experience with archage….what was I thinking!!!
I’m aware that so much stuff has changed: traits being reworked, runes are now different etc.
So i was wondering if someone could be so patient to give me an idea of:
1. How do warriors do in WvW?
2. What are the current meta builds?
3. I used to play a s+s / Bow condition warrior; how are they now?
Many thanks

how about Carrion gear? is power really useless in a condi build?
right, le me see if I get it right: it’s not necessary to add precision or power cause essentially the condition damage will be sufficient to hit ‘the enemy’ hard enough. Hence better to boost tanky stats to enhance survivability. Is this correct?
What do you you think are the pros and cons of a hybrid build where power and precision are also stacked?
Thanks
thanks guys…one more question: PU what does it mean? could you please link me some builds?
My aim would be to have a good build for roaming and very small groups. thanks
hi all, I’ve just started a new char: my first Mesmer.
I’m a bit confused by all the various wvw options. I’d be very grateful if someone could give me a summary of what builds are the main viable ones in wvw. Many thanks
what are the pros and cons of a condi build?
If your whole idea was to just use a regular condi build instead why ask about perplexity?
for curiosity’s sake: I see lots of people running round with s/sh (or even s/s) +LB dishing confusion out
What do you mean by what do you guys think?
I’m after opinions from more experienced warriors about condi builds vs. perplex/confusion based builds
Yeah, condi warr is a thing. Its good
good stuff…glad to find further confirmation!!! thanks for all the replies
nice tips lol!
what do you guys think about the builds based on perplexity runes?
Awesome because people kill themselves with it. Go 20/10/20/20 with bulls charge and either stomp or kick. Use offhand shield over offhand sword
what do you think about this version http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIAQRAse5cjkOpuFPCPMxBEkCNsKOPUipg8UKsj5A-jkBBYLDiOTqIasl1FRjVzATliIq2boIa1SBso0I-w
using mace/sword & sword/shield to add more interrupts…a weak one without LB?
Yeah you need burning from LB. and pin down is awesome too
Each interrupt stacks 9 confusion, whereas other perplexity users only stack 5. With your 3 interrupts and the x4 on the runes, you can stack 30 stacks quite easily. Search “Gw2 warrior auto kill build” on YouTube. Joseph Wagner is the one you wanna watch
Using peplex. runes looks fun but those builds seem lacking in defence utilities. I guess the idea is to keep the enemy locked by confusion but, all in all, I think I’d go for a ‘regular’ kind of condi build. It seems more balanced and well rounded. What do you guys reckon?
Plus I have a strong feeling the they will soon nerf those runes lol
nice tips lol!

Another thing you could do is try a hybrid build. Works really good with Sw/Sw and LB since theyre probably the most hybrid weapons in the game.
would you mind posting some examples of a hybrid build? ta
are condition builds affected by the changes?
What do you guys think about the following build? I’m trying to create some kind of balanced build that could also rely on decent crit as a ‘plan b’! Any thoughts? thanks
Your Plan B isn’t going to work. Your physical damage is kitten low: A full Soldier with no food, runes nor jewels would have ~12% more damage.
I changed the runes to undead: the build with peplex was just a test.
What would you reckon I need for a balanced condi build to keep my ‘plan B’ open?

How long is a piece of string?
I’m wondering how many stun breakers and anti condition ‘stuff’ are considered sufficient for WvWing.
For breaking out of stuns I’m thinking that 2 should be enough: Dolyak Signet & Endure Pain. I was thinking about getting ‘shake it off’ for the low cool down but I think ’endure pain is more useful in the long run.
About conditions…dilemma here…I was thinking to run with Signet of Stamina and Cleansing Ire. As I’m planning a condi build I’d rather not use Melandru runes. Again my only doubt is to swap ‘endure pain’ with ‘shake it off’
Is this an ok set up?
thanks Atreyu!
I’ve been thinking about 2 slight variations and, as usual, I’d welcome any thought or suggestions!
with rabid trinkets I’d have higher crit chance and more armour but I actually think that my crit could be sufficient with the 20% plus I get from fury.
in fact, if I stick to carrion instead I think I have enough crit (base 30 + fury + bonus on stun); 2500 armour is probably acceptable but at the same time the extra health is something I’d welcome quite happily
Or something totally different like
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-s;4NKVO0d4cL-60;9;59T-T;13;018A;152A-JF24;16TsW6TsWBBGvVHHXO0;13W71D2IZO_Va61V-N-5V8aNX8a;9;9;9;9;9;54k3w
My other dilemma is about the stun brakers…1 enough??
(edited by Rhaegar.5120)
I was thinking something like this:
any thoughts?
As a role player, the choice of weapons is not only dictated by what the most recent meta is. I like 1H weapons and I was thinking about this kind of combination : Sword/Mace or Sword + Mace/Shield (keeping longbow as 3rd option)….I really don’t like 2Hweapons…way too clunky imo lol
But then I’m left with other decisions:
1) Do I go for a Condition build….not much to do with mace but what if I add perplexity runes
2) Do I go for a Power/Precision/toughness build and forget conditions?
3) Or maybe a hybrid with a bit of condition damage?
And also…what traits? At the moment I was thinking 0/10/30/0/30 for a non condi build or 0/20/30/0/20 for a condi one
As you can tell I’m confused and your help and wisdom is needed!!!!
thanks

thanks Olba: I forgot to change the ‘strength’ traits. Correct now
what do you guys think about the following traits/gear etc.?
I’m looking for some suggestions on this build
Hi all
I’m an old rpg players (only in my 30s though) who has tried practically most available mmorpgs since Ultima Online. As a DAOC fan I view GW2 as the best possible rvr type of mmorpg.
Because of my age and a certain inclination to roleplaying I’m looking for a mature guild (chit chat on farts burps and other crap is not really my cup of tea)…if it’s wvw focused even better
Ideally I’m looking for an international guild: simply because I like the kind of atmosphere that it can offer
Hope to hear from someone soon
NOTE:
1) I have a lv 80 war and guard with exotic equip
2) server is not an issues: as long as it is EU and not a desert I’m more than happy to move
ouch…no hints at all
:(
hi folks
first of all I have to declare that I’m a noob so do bear this in mind.
I’ve been using GS + M/S and as a warrior I enjoy having CC skills. However, due to the fact that I like RPing I would prefer to use 1 handed weapons.
I would like your suggestions on how to mix the following weapons: mace, sword, shield, axe. As option 1 I quite like the idea of keeping mace/shield. What about option 2?
What would you recommend? Any suggestions?
what would you guys think about mace/shield & sword/axe?
I’ve always been a big fan of 1 handed weapons and I’m also fed up with GS based builds…..cannot stand HB lol
ta
thank you for spotting the point about crit chance: the max I reached is actually 46!
This is the build I have in mind:
Hello all,
I’d be very grateful if you could take a look at the build I’m using at the moment (my alternative was Axe/shield + sword/axe)
I’ve clearly pinched bits and boobs from mainstream builds and it seems to be alright for me. Bearing in mind I’m relatively noobish to the game, what corrections would you recommend? ta
I’m running on a 0-10-10-30-20 focused on Pure of Voice and empowering might.
I’m still very undecided about runes:
1) Soldier Runes: + vitality and extra help with conditions
2) following the boonway: monk/water/ traveller to get the extra boon duration which I tend to enjoy quite a bit
My other dilemma…stat and their thresholds. I’m trying, bear in my crappy gear, to build a balanced build but I’m not sure about the numbers:
Health – 16k to 17k enough?
Armour – is 2400 enough?
Crit Chance – 60 I think it’s not bad for a guard.
Crit dmg – 62 enough?
Any suggestion or comment will be highly appreciated!!!!!!!!

I personally run 0/5/30/30/5, with main focus on AH and Empowering Might/Pure of Voice. I use a mix of Soldier’s and Knight’s gear with (mostly) Ruby Gems, and with it I hit 3K Armour, 40% Crit, 70% Crit Damage, and 17000 HP.
For abilities I run Stand Your Ground, Save Yourself, and whatever I feel like rocking that day (tons of conditions? CoP. Some roamer group of friends? Hold the Line).
It’s a pretty tanky set while doing good damage, and all my shouts/buffs do double duty of Buffing/Cleansing my team while I get a steady flow of heals coming in. Of course, this build tends to have difficulties when Im soloing things in WvW, but any buff applied to yourself still triggers AH so the core mechanics still work. My friends love having me around, and I like feeling like I made an impact.
As for weapons, that’s preference. I usually rock Hammer/Staff but lately I’ve been using Hammer/Greatsword for roaming with friends.
hi mate, I really like the sound of your build but I’m really struggling to work out how to get to your ‘numbers’ (no ascended stuff yet). Would you mind adding a link to your full build? ta
