I actually used this a lot for some added sustain during the Queen’s Gauntlet for 5-gambit farming, but otherwise I’ve never used it and would never use it.
Why not have them? It’s not like the all time fractal leaderboard is overwhelmed with records anyway.
Well, doing a different fractal level is a lot like doing a different path of a normal dungeon. Depending on the instability it can be very different in terms of valid strategies. It ultimately comes down to whether or not we feel L49 old records are reasonable to compare to L50 records. If it’s more like apples and oranges, then it doesn’t make sense to put them next to each other.
The biggest difference between the two instabilities for me is the effect that persistent Agony has on the healing factors for players. Being able to always retain your scholar bonus more easily, for instance, can make a big difference.
It’s a tough call, but I currently lean towards L49 records not counting.
Maybe no filter is required, but we could allow the L49 ones to count for all-time because doing them in L50 will be faster due to no damage reduction. It’s a complication, though, and now I’m leaning towards not having them. We don’t want to clutter the fractal LBs.
What do we want to do for old fractal records? I ask because back in the day the fractal ruleset was L49, but now it’s L50 so it’s a totally different instability. Do those old runs at L49 still count for all-time? In thinking about it, I’d say they do, but I wanted a second opinion.
I would pay $50 for an expansion specifically targeting end-game, instanced content. Here’s to hoping!
Just had a match:
Ranked/NA
6AM EST
2/3/2015
Foefire
Everyone in the match was solo queue, so a premade wasn’t the problem, but we 500-18’d the enemy team and 2 of them ragequit after we got it to like ~200-18 with a triple cap that wasn’t going anywhere. They must have had like a 5% probability to win or something, so the match was definitely still bad. Worth looking into, IMO.
I actually think down state lord would make for some cool plays. You can solo stomp it just as effectively, but people could warbanner him or CC you off him, or cleave his body, etc. Maybe give him the Warrior down state 2 as well so he can interrupt, necessitating a more proper stomp.
Otherwise I think the lord is fine. Being able to spike him down with coordination is pretty important to keeping the mechanic relevant.

I had someone in a Fractal 50 try to convince me that condi Necro is good in Fractals level 50 because its DPS is better than power Necro DPS.
But arena’s would fix that, right? /s
I don’t think arenas would fix it, but I do think leagues would fix it.
how often does this happen tho? it only happened to me at times when it was reset, after like a dozen games or so it happens every once in a great while (at least for me).
It actually happens to me fairly frequently. I basically don’t have time to play PvP at the moment except during Oceanic prime time, which results in 5-8 minute long queues with total blowouts either in my favor or against. I haven’t PvP’d in a few days because it’s just been so frustrating, but I posted my most recent one in that other thread where Justin requested information on it.
There is still that occasional match though that gets totally ruined by the fail-safes. I’m not certain waiting longer for those players would improve quality for them or just reduce the number of games they get to play.
Honestly, the problem here is two-fold:
- I’d rather wait longer and have fewer games overall if those games are of higher quality. If I get stomped 100-500 I stop playing PvP that day because it makes me angry, as I’m sure it does for a large number of others.
- I’d be totally okay with really long queue times if we could bloody leave HotM or have something to do. An 8 minute queue is only bad because we’re forced to stay in HotM and there is nothing to bloody do in there. There aren’t even crafting tables or a Mystic Forge, let alone a jump puzzle or anything to keep us occupied.
Those two things when taken together should be fixed together.
Busy, busy, busy!
We’ve been continuing chugging along where we always have, and are super excited for guild halls and Heart of Thorns! We have a ton of leftover influence (650k+) and plan to expend all of it to upgrade our guild hall as best we can when that comes around. If you want to be among the first guilds with a full guild hall, give us a shot and see if you like us now! We’re still organizing nightly Tequatl with our server and are still doing guild missions weekly for commendations!
If our close-knit group of friends sounds like your sort of thing, let one of the officers know and we’ll see if you’re a good fit!
Just had the following:
1+1+1+1+1 vs. 1+4
Khylo
6:00AM EST
Ranked
We had three mesmers on our team against that premade.
I once tried it with Flesh Wurm on my Necro and it didn’t work, it teleported me just off center and I got hit by electricity. I can’t speak for the teleports on other classes. I used a Guardian when I got that achievement for Renewed Focus.
I once spawned in the enemy base by some bug, and then proceeded to just kill their lord. I figure that’s what happened here as well.
Speaking of Portal, it would be awesome if Wurm had the same range as Portal.
It’s insane how they keep emphasizing it. In every interview, regardless if its on topic of the question asked, they bring it up. :p
I rly wonder what it’ll be.
Yeah. They seem VERY confident that it’ll be the “ultimate challenge”. Here’s to hoping those people they hired earned their keep and this content lives up to their promise.
As of tonight’s patch, turrets at Tequatl no longer make sounds when they fire. Please fix!
If the meta isn’t resetting from yesterdays update, LOD has the current meta records for hotw p2 and p3.

Ele: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1AG4801s8c&Also the CoF P3 posted is incorrect. I can’t remember if it was iV or qT but they beat the time that’s posted there by like a minute plus.
I’ve updated for these records. Thanks again for bringing it up.
Thanks for that information, I’ll have it taken care of as soon as possible. As for CoF p3, I’ll do some digging and see if I can’t find a more modern record.
That’s Ghosti’s character name, mine is in the description.
Aha, got it. I didn’t understand how you worded it originally so I wasn’t sure what you meant. Thanks for that.
They already did by linking the Terms that deal with such things. I am sure their policy prevents them from saying such things outright, thats why they refer you to the ToS. They will either provide the link, or quote what it says. Other then those things they are not allowed to speak on the matter.
Unfortunately, the terms are just as nebulous as their official statements. Essentially it boils down to “anything that gives you an unfair advantage over other players” is against the ToS, except that essentially any third party software does that otherwise it wouldn’t be worth using. If we’re to get stuck on the definition of the keyword ‘unfair’ then that puts us back in our original situation of having no idea at all of what’s allowed and what isn’t.
I hope they don’t give one away for free, because I already picked one up in anticipation of the new class. If they do give one out for free, they better refund me my gems or I am going to be very unhappy.
It looks like it both correctly links to a “NeoVaris SC” youtube page and says that it is Ghostaloempah. Can you clarify where the mistake is?
That’s an impossible proposition.
What you’re asking is for Anet to allocate resources to vetting every single mod that is linked to GW2. They would have to look through the code in the file and every patch made to it and give it the go ahead. That’s time-intensive and inefficient.
It’s better to rely on the community to investigate these programs and then compare it to Anet’s blank statement.
This is commonplace in the industry.
No, what I am asking is for “This type of an application is generally okay so long as it doesn’t mess with X or Y”. I’m not asking anyone to go down some arbitrary list of applications and say Y/N on them all.
How about this question as an example:
“Is it okay to use a third party application that provides PvE combat information that does not in any way affect another player?”
Could they answer questions like that? Sure, I think that’s reasonable. That sort of a generalized answer would help immensely with the community knowing what kind of third party apps they could work on that wouldn’t get people banned or the like.
I’ll pick it up without a doubt, because a new class and new specializations are just what the doctor ordered. Also, I have (probably too much) faith in ANet that they’ll pull through on their heavily-emphasized promise of ultimately challenging content in GW2 with this expansion. Whatever form that takes, I know I want to be a part of it.
If anyone sees errors with the records, or if you know of a more up-to-date record for any dungeon, please let me know either by PMing me or posting here so that I can verify it and fix it up. It took a lot of detective work to find the records strewn across a number of websites and forums, so I would be very suspect if I somehow got everything perfect.
For anyone curious, the “Guild” parameter in the records is pulled from the players. Some records are from people who were once in one guild but are now in another or something like that, so some records will show that they are being attributed to two guilds at once if there are members from both guilds in the record.
Also, I couldn’t find an HotW p3 record in the current meta, so if anyone knows of one let me know.
And yes, we do not review, vet, or approve third-party programs. Each person who wants to know whether something is acceptable needs to read the messaging that is provided and make a decision based on those comments.
Gaile, it’s nebulous phrasing like this that keeps me from using any third party tools, even things that are probably totally fine. I would love nothing more than to play PvE and actually know my DPS to refine my rotations, but I don’t install the software because I have put way too much effort into my account to risk “Your account has been banned for hacking. This ban is final.” Even if that ban wasn’t final, I wouldn’t want that black mark on my account record.
It’s ANet’s shaky stance on third party software which ultimately leads to third party software support being really bad for GW2 because half the legitimate developers don’t want to create useful tools which could get players banned. Please reconsider your position and actually tell us what is and isn’t allowed, explicitly, and if you can’t, bring Chris Cleary in here so he can.
I’m in the process of updating the database, so the information Weth is asking for is good. In addition to that information, please include the URL of where you submitted your previous records. New records will be submitted on gw2dungeons, but I need references for the old ones to prove that they’re legitimate. Thanks!
The one thing I want is a Flaming Axe. Nothing else matters. If they give me a Flaming Axe of some sort, I will drop 5k gold the day it comes out to make it.
I’m genuinely expecting some hardcore difficult instanced content. It might not be called a dungeon, and it might not be called a fractal, and it might not be called a raid, but I think it will be there.
I don’t know how many players it’ll support, but they emphasized “extremely difficult” a lot and said that the scale for what they were working on is far harder than anything we’ve seen thus far, and that this might truly be deserving of being called the “ultimate challenge”.
That has me in pretty high hopes for the expansion, honestly.
With $2000 I could’ve built you a better machine for cheaper, and still had money to pocket for myself as a profit.

Suit yourself. There’s no point arguing since you clearly won’t change your mind, so I guess all we can do is wait and see when they release more information.

No, I think it’s genuinely wishful thinking on your part. I find it to be rather clever that they’re using the Staff as a melee weapon, because then people can have Scythe animations as well by using Final Rest or something like that. New weapon types are a major feature for sure, especially since multiple classes would have to get them in order for them to even make sense. That’d be big news.
And honestly, why go for the confusing approach of staves doubling as polearms, when we already have spears and plenty of spear skins? They could just as easily make spears available on land.
It would be more confusing to have Spears underwater and Spears on-land. They would never recycle the weapon type like that because it would be steps backwards in their NPE.

There will be no new weapon types. If there were going to be new types, they would’ve been announced explicitly at PAX. The melee polearm you saw the Revenant use is actually a melee-attack Staff.
I’m definitely toming straight to 80. I mean, I have hundreds of these things, and if I won’t use them when a new class comes out, I’ll never use them.
The Necro is pretty hideous, too, but you know… At least I can see the animations.
Let me start by saying that generic models are great and I always have them on, but there are problems with the implementation that bother me a lot. I have a couple suggestions that hopefully people will agree with, and hopefully the ANet developers will feel are worth the time investment to refine this feature.
1. Add an option to enable Generic Models in Unranked Queue
Currently you can only use them in Ranked Queue, and that’s among the only reasons I play Ranked instead of Unranked. I hate playing Unranked and having to figure out what some Charr in the bulkiest animation-blocking armor is doing.
2. Add an option to enable Generic Models for Allies
I want to know when my ally Guardian is about to cast the full heal in his Tome so I can be in range, but sometimes he’s some minimum size Asura and I can’t tell what he’s doing.
I think if these two options were implemented, it’d be of huge benefit to the PvP community. Thanks!
Is it odd that Invigorating Precision for thieves is getting buffed from 8 to 15 percent scaling with critical damage, whilst Parasitic Contagion remains exceptionally low?
#riot
While we’re at it, it’d be nice if Parasitic Contagion was in a line that better suited condition damage.
The precursor crafting/scavenger hunt was never a promise. It was on the table, they were working on it, then at some point it went off the table. But it was never promised.
Oh, yes it was promised, and that’s exactly why they don’t promise anything anymore. They even said we’d see it in 2013.
Hopefully they fulfill that promise with HoT.
My limiting factors for every type:
- Wood: Soft Wood
- Ore: Iron Ore
- Leather: Rugged Leather Squares
- Cloth: Cotton Scrap
It’s interesting. Linen used to be pretty rough for me, but then I got smart about it because of its value, and so now I’m swimming in it. Cotton is the really tricky one for me because I just don’t spend time in those zones. Iron Ore is obvious because it’s needed for both Iron and Steel Inpots, while Soft Wood is always tough because it takes 4 per plank instead of the usual 3. Rugged Leather is interesting and probably shouldn’t give me trouble because of how much Linen I get, but for one reason or another I just never get enough of it.
I still wish we could trade Dhuumfire for something else like confusion, bleeding, chill, blind, poison, or weakness on interrupt. With only one path to proc’ burning it seems costly to use and there is no natural synergy ouside of raw stats.
Oh man, imagine that as Dhuumfire,. That’d be so good and would totally be a great risk/reward for holding out on your fear bombs to score multiple interrupts.
Dhuumfire
Apply 6 seconds of burning whenever you interrupt a foe.
No ICD.
While we’re at it, let’s fix Withering Precision.
Withering Precision
50% chance to apply 2 seconds of Weakness on a critical hit.
No ICD.
Now it’d only be effective pressure the more you could reliably keep on a foe, which creates its own huge play/counterplay because enemies could kite you or keep out of your attack range. It also makes Immobilize that much more important.
I could do this all day.
I think class dailies are definitely a major contributor to the duplicate profession problem. I can’t count the number of times I’ve had 2+ of a daily profession in a given match, ranked or unranked.
I speak for myself here when I say that I’d prefer waiting through a 6-10 minute queue time if it meant I got a match-up where I had a better than 30% chance to win. Waiting a few minutes less for a total blowout is not fun for either team, and wastes time they could spend queuing for a hopefully better match-up.
Hey…. you had a 5% chance of winning. Don’t blame me if you couldn’t pull it off.
Any game where a team has a less than 30% chance of winning shouldn’t even be allowed to happen. I get that all of the other details of matchmaking are important, but match-ups like that are really the ones that result in the worst play experiences.
I literally just had one myself, so yeah, I feel you BLU.
This is relevant and really cool to know. Thanks for the info!
I don’t think they’re underrated at all in WvW. There’s a reason GWEN exists, and there’s a reason you see a number of them roaming.
I think it’s more likely you hear how poor they are in organized PvE and how they don’t fit into many group comps in SPvP and are attributing that to their performance in WvW, when that is not the case at all.
We are still recruiting for the interested! We’ve gotten a few new members in the past week and it’s been nice, so it’d be great to keep that rolling. If you’re interested in the things we do, the level of casual-play we have, the level of skill we have despite that, and ultimately the level of social interaction we enjoy, then let one of the officers know! We’d enjoy talking to you about the guild.
Unfortunately, Signet of Undeath was nerfed into oblivion back in the day. Its cast time is far too long right now to be useful, especially for a class so vulnerable to CC.
Would it actually see use anywhere if it had an AOE heal on hit, though? I can’t think of any time I’d actually use it, especially since it’s not like you can heal yourself with it by standing in melee with your target.
