More toughness will ensure they make it to their target. No point being full glass cannon if your burst is mitigated by clones dying.
It’s best with Illusionary Persona. I always fired it to interrupt a stomp attempt on an allie, or a thief stealth/heal attempt. Also if you add it into your shatter burst on the end you can interrupt teleports and stunbreakers breakers etc.
As for PvE I tried dungeons the other day with it and felt the same way, builds used back then are now outdated and been replaced with what looks to be sub par builds.
Anything besides glass cannon is subpar, what were you thinking was good back then?
There’s a false statement if ever I saw one.
It should stack, and is annoying when I catch 6 seconds of swiftness off some guardian or warrior instead of my 24 just as I lay the curtain, but this tends to only happen around zerg travel, in which case the zerg can carry me easily. Mostly this can all be avoided with good boon management. Simply being aware.
iWarden is awesome, especially in a fixed position. Having them up creates a sanctuary for to hide in both from ranged attacks, and melee who don’t want to enter it to catch the damage.
You could probably sing daisy and wipe 75 with 25 people. Are you surprised that you get doubleteamed in SEA?
Not surprising at all, I rather agree that a leaner and more effective force destroying a much larger group would induce an unnatural amount of anger that would lead to a noticeable commander such as yourself to admit that BG and JQ are indeed double-teaming on SoR.
We Rallians are quite honoured, for what does not kill us makes us stronger. See you on the battlefield.
Nice edit (numbers were swapped to improve OCX’s kitten). Looks like OCX childishness has crept from their in-game performance onto the forums. OCX can’t win an even numbered fight let alone beating larger numbers than yourselves, although if running constantly is considered winning then you win all the time. Have fun tonight, I know I will.
That’s rich coming from a MERC

A month old video against terrible players doesnt make you right.
How good or bad a player is makes no different to the application consistency or frequency of conditions, relatively speaking.
How old a video is is irrelevant unless you can demonstrate some sort of major changes in that time that somehow altered condition application with said class or build.
A correct argument you should have made was “A month old video against bad players doesn’t falsify my statement that staff is a MUST for condition mesmers”, though, as demonstrated, you’d be wrong.
For a condition build Staff is a MUST.
You’re so wrong it’s not funny.

Well the cool down wouldnt start until the activated portals have closed and Blink NEEDS to be longer range, 900 is pathetic.
Trait for 1200.
900 gets you out of hot water, either way.
This LOL has been trapped.
Spend Karma on Orrian boxes, open for crap to sell + a stupid mini you’ll have a few hundred of.
Spend skill points to turn cheap dust or other materials into better materials that you can sell on the TP for more cash. Or you could upgrade siege weapons.
Badges should be spent on traps, and traps should be laid everywhere at all times. Trap gates. Trap ramps. Trap roads. Trap your kids, trap your dog, trap your wife.

You’re nto talking about stability are you?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Stability
First, remove the stability. THEN go to town. This is the meta of WvW. Hard CC’s, countered by stability, countered by boon removal.
Nordic is right.
Which is why I’d never call Necro’s OP (In WvW at least, dont spvp). I never lose to them. Warriors are the same (despite them being obviously powerful now).
As part of multiple 50 man open field flanks vs a full map BG force on SoR BL (3 portals).
Wiped em every time
So the forum has been a bit drab lately. We’ve all seen plenty of vids of Mesmers rocking multiple opponents, and have plenty of us going down though we’ll never ever admit it. The other day I had a close call, and I thought maybe we could break open our video folders and show some of our close calls for a bit of fun.
Caught vid of a close call, thought I’d put it up for posterity.
With the use of some LoS, an iWarden, and a bit of luck I narrowly avoid going down.
Close call breakdown

1:19 winds of chaos hits and applies another stack of invlun

Bah! MH Pistol (boring)
I’ll just quote myself from a thread on this already done-
Quote
Ok ok, I’ll bite.
Here’s what the postol looks like, notice the mesmer in this video is using Skill #3: Let’s call it Downing Big Birds (Notice at 40 seconds the good use of Distortion and Illusionary Persona)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmqNMc0IDWE
Now, Skill 2: Fires out a stick with a flag on it that reads “BANG”. A clone pops up behind the target and the target remains confused.

From what I’ve heard, the intention is that one day all classess will have access to all weapon options on all hands.
For a while now, when I’ve been taking my shift scouting a keep or tower, I’ll turn on my commander tag as a visible sign to my map that shows the keep/tower has someone on watch.
While anyone could do this (and it’s a help), it occurred to me we could achieve the same effect with a different tag. The tag could cost a couple gold like a commander tag does (1, not 100). That way scouts could “tag up” for their scouting duty. If the tag dissapears the whole map can see the keep/tower might be without eyes.
To overcome some issues, the Scout, or Watch Tag could only be activated inside keeps and towers. So if the scout has his tag up, and leaves the tower, or disconnects, the tag will vanish from the map. Plain and simple.
Not the first post about Scepter and until Anet sorts it, it wont be the last
I’m always just partially skeptical though, when I have so much success with them…
Ahah, when I saw the title, I answered in my head ‘’ You can’t as a Mesmer ’’. I gave up running after people in PvP.
You know what is worse ? A mesmer norn with a ugly mixed set which wears a robe. Slowly… going… to… catch… ya… NOPE !
At this point, with the condition meta and slow movement, I’m depressed.
You need a better build.
Oh, one thing I should point out,
Clones not only become the target of necro’s skills/utils, but they also run around triggering them, which is good/important.
The other thing is, mirror images is a great utility for certain applications and builds, but the sooner you can master your clone generation and management, and move away from it to replace it with something else, the better.
Your first priority vs a necro is to kite. Second thing that helps is stealth. After that your direct condition removal is as follows-
Traited torch 4 removes 1
Traited torch 5 iMage removes 1 on cast, 1 on bounce (keep them up, that’s a condition removed every 6 seconds thereafter)
Arcane thievery transfers 3
That’s all I need and use vs necros. The rest is down to gameplay.
(These arent my current build, more condition damage heavy versions. But they’re both running traited torch and traited manipulations + arcane thievery)
Oh, one other thing I love to have in my arsenal is arcane thievery. You can strip stability, and steal swiftness. That buffs your speed and cripples theirs.
Anyway I went to the liberty of making you a little vid. First log in and encounter of the day in fact!
One downside to a 3 hit auto is that you could avoid the entire chain with a single dodge roll instead of two.
Asking for features is fine. But perhaps you should ask Anet to assign more resources (i.e. manpower) to WvW. That way they can start working on these things now, since the current guys are tapped with other projects.
Changes to the lake/quaggans are coming, as well as a new orb mechanic. That requires resources from different departments. What resources are available need to be prioritized…. there seems to be a difference between the players and Anet in priority content.
I could care less about any changes to WvW maps or WXP trees until the grouping issues are resolved. I’d like a modern MMO to have a modern grouping system that can be used for whatever players need and has WORKING UI functions.
THAT should be the main priority for whatever resources are available IMO.
Awesome, so get on Anet’s back about resourcing and prioritizing to do it.
So, it’s not stealth that’s the problem, but rather thief mechanics and their copious access to stealth?
Number of times “Thief” appears in OP: 8
Number of times “Mesmer” appears in OP: 1 (and in reference to a semblence of balance no less)
Number of times “Ranger” appears in OP: 0
Is this a stealth problem, or a thief one? o.O
Easy, max condition duration, cc conditions, focus, long range short cooldown blink, boon duration, curtain cripple and pull.
You have to build for it, plain and simple. Staff is probably your weakest aspect in your build. If you like your build and want to keep it as is, just accept your lot.
I love that they added torment to mesmer but they went about it the wrong way.
Change scepter 2.2 to cause torment and the block to cause blind or daze and that would be worlds better. Why would I want to stand still just to apply torment. When the clone spawns I am not teleported back a great enough distance (or at all) for the torment to do whakittens suppose to do, so it seems pointless. At least if it was added to the second part of skill 2 I could apply it from range while someone is running so it can tick for some decent damage.
No thanks. I don’t want to be at range if I can help it (want me, my enemy, and all my clones in a nice compact little space, thanks). Here’s a better solution to your problem. 5 stacks of torment on the block/riposte, and 3 stacks of torment on 2.2 instead of blind.
Asking for features is fine. But perhaps you should ask Anet to assign more resources (i.e. manpower) to WvW. That way they can start working on these things now, since the current guys are tapped with other projects.
Isn’t it obvious?
They’re going to drain it, destroying the ecosystem, forcing the Krait and Quaggans to move on or die. There will be subtle Hollywood undertones geared at educating youth at conservation and mother nature. This is Anet’s way of giving back. It’s living story at it’s finest!
Just don’t fall in the empty lake. There’ll be no more swimming out…
1: Traps cost half as much
2: Can have two traps laid at a time
3: Trap user notified of trap tripping two minutes after being triggered
4: Traps 50% more potent
5: Lay traps 50% faster
What you, like almost all mesmers on this forum don’t seem to understand is that all things, whether it be spike damage, or conditions, come from our clones. Our weapons provide half of any equation. The clones and related traits, the rest.
Okay, lets take a look at Mesmer clones
Staff Clones = Conditions, Boons and damage
Sword Clones = Damage + Vul
Scepter Clones = Damage
Greatsword Clones = Damagex3Now our auto attacks for Staff and Sword for us does the same thing as the clones – minus the sword clones dont strip a boon (i think) Greatsword clones just do damage as well but its x3 per an attack and at range.
Then you have the Bleeding trait which is better for Greatsword then the Scepter, so i think that is why the greatsword doesnt get anything else, though Staff gets that plus the normal conditions that they give
You also have the fact that ALL clones from ALL weapons give the same on death trait bonuses, so why is that the Scepter auto attack and the Scepter Clones offer NOTHING else and thats the point if “The clones and related traits, the rest.” is true then we are surely losing out with the Scepter seeing as the Auto attack offers nothing and the clones offer nothing – Sure its nice that if creates clones but thats all it does on death traits dont always work when someone is moving, out of range and such
Can’t say I was referring at all to scepter clones lack of “doing anything”. Obviously they could stand to get a feature. In fact I’d like to see scepter clones transfer 1 condition on them to their target. Clones pick up a lot of collateral conditions, and live more than long enough to attack a few times before they die. Good chance to send those conditions back to their target.
Now THATS a cool condition based clone, unique in the current drab “clone applies shiz” mesmer weapon ideas.
How to get your kitten busted in WvW
My favorite bit was landing a cry of frustration on them after baiting them on to the bridge, then seeing the insane amount of confusion and retal procs that are firing off. Not to mention the out of nowhere insta stomp.
GG.

iMage, attacks every 6 seconds (or there abouts), 3 seconds duration. So with 100% condition duration that’s 100% uptime.
Introduce new Mist boxes purchasable with 10 badges? Garanteed tier 6 mat!
The other day there were a team of 3 BG heading to north camp who’d I’d been tangoing with. I headed them off from citadel, and lay a stealth trap in the middle of camp before they arrived. The thief charged at me with the others behind. The thief didn’t trip the trap, one of the others did I think, and the thief may have been stealthed at the time. Whatever the case I saw the revealed on the thief, but a few seconds later he stealthed and ran away with the rest of his buddies.
My first thought was that the trap bugged. Since the thief didn’t trip the trap though I did wonder if a dodge roll could avoid the effect (and the thief got lucky). The other explanation was that, already being in stealth if the thief procced his revealed, then the trap went off, then possibly there’s an overriding conflict going on that allowed the thief to avoid it.
Either way something’s going on there that needs addressing.
All the mad, coming home tonight and 1am > 3:30am tonight in SoR BL, running 5-10 people (non-MERC) was hilarious attacking hills and watching the 30 man group come in to clean us up only to lose the keep 5mins later
.
Then 3 people on south bay opening it up for [SG], I hope you enjoyed your bay cap
.
Goodnight T1!
When you have a single commander, and only enough guys to field one force across multiple maps, you do what you can.
Though I can see what you’re going for, it kind of spoils the humor.
And that is double teaming? It’s a 3 way match, expect to get hit by both teams by sheer co incidence.
Want a better example?
We had a good laugh on TS yesterday when, after breaking back into our Garison on SoR BL from the NW wall, and BG showing up in force to defend it, a full map JQ blob ran all the way up around the west side of the map past camps, towers, and keeps, entered in through the hole we’d made in the wall, then pushed up the stairs onto the outter wall where SoR was located to drive them out. Then JQ continued to push SoR back north before dissapearing back to wherever they’d come from. BG’s two blobs just stood in the open field of outter garrison in clear view of JQ, watching.
It kind of said it all right there
Lol SoR will start crying about that double team that they kept asking for : should be around pages 4-5 of the thread matchup.
Have fun this week and good luck all 3 sides.
Nah. Just means we’re the best ;D
The best reward they could introduce to wvw would be fixed the bad matchup system.
Giving out champion chests and wxp chests isn’t going to fix lopsided matchups.
You’re right, it’ll only make them worse. Just think how many more guilds BG can buy with their collective earning POWAH!
A prominent commander on my server got fed up with his guild. So he transferred to the enemy server and roamed/havoked (without his tag) and fought his old guildies.
Later when he’d worked the stress out he transferred back. Just remember, this is a game. It exists to entertain you.
Everybody reading just needs to keep posting till there’s a response., really.
I’ll throw in, like above, that this (once again) completely screws over the now rare, endangered species known as the Mesmer.
I think everyone’s tired of Blackgate, tbh
I like Blackgate. They’ll actually do open field fighting… without dropping open field ac’s and siege creeping. They are also far more respectful than SoR… who are often disrespectful to their own players from the ones I’ve talked to.
You have got to be kittenting me. The #1 complaint I hear from Rallians about playing Blackgate in a strictly PvP game – BG wont engage. Only PVdoor, or run the other way to find the next door unless caught out or backs against the wall.
As for siege creep, BG’s numbers means they’re never short on supply to do it, and liberally. However there’s no faulting them for legit tactics. Get with the game.
