If it’s intended as a money making ploy then the marketing department needs to be fired. It’s just not a very productive source of income as it stands leading me to believe you’re dead wrong.
Steady sources of income are better than one off ventures.
I have a two part’er taken over a few days. I’ll be showing them in reverse.

The event in question
So you want the top tiers to spread out across all other servers, so that all servers (including the original top tiers) are imbalanced too?
Good idea…
two 3x bloodlust thieves using condi specs and perplexity runes. I went at these guys 4 times and this last time was the best I could do after figuring their game out.
Too many nerfs to shatter to make it worthwhile, not to mention the whole synergy with trying to get condition clears and make an effective shatter build. Shattered conditions is a grandmaster trait in the phantasm build line, wth? Then you need 30 in illusions for the persona. Leaves u 10 points that have to go in dom for mental torment. But now you dont have deceptive evasion which is a must.
This leaves you with a really poor build that needs to be changed, nothing in dueling for the damage u need, no quicker recharge on any weapon set, no deceptive evasion. So u drop the persona to pick up 10 points in dueling for blade training, but you are losing the damage of an extra clone shatter.
So you ditch the shattered conditions and run with null field every 40 seconds and sacrifice your runeset/food buffs to deal with them(heres a hint you are still going to die to them), and are pretty much forced into greatsword even though ud rather run staff for the extra survivability granted by phase retreat. I mean with blurred frenzy nerf u are going to need it.
So bunker down, strap on some condi dmg runes(pick a set), equip a staff, scepter and torch and spam those condi’s and stealth.
yup. you nailed down the problem with shatter and codis there, hopefully a dev sees this
They’re to busy trying to balance necros and further buff warriors for that nonsense.
Yeah immortal specs were gutted along with glamour. At least we are exploring the world of interrupts and what we can accomplish with them. Also we haven’t explored signets yet except for 1 spec. So we honestly haven’t seen all the build diversification yet.
The major problem I have with interrupts is latency. If you live next door to the server, good for you. If you’re on the other side of the world, gg is the nice thing I can say.
So we need more incentive for people to zerg? We need to find a way to move away from the 50-man zergball roaming. If anything needs to be encouraged, it’s small group play.
Squads have player limits. That aside, theres no justification for your position.
Basically what sacrx says is true.
That’ll be the day. Just give the man his veils and damage and he’ll be happy, breh.
I guess GW2 really is going to be a casual pve scrub-only game.
I hope so. We’re calm, likeable people, and are probably the demographic that ANet actually builds games for; Those who appreciate the work and, when they choose to give criticism, do it constructively and usually without poisonous derision toward our fellow gamers. Yet… some of our fellows just have this way of earning derision.
… As we can see my server, Blackgate, has been running the lowest PPT for most of the day, yet they have gained a points gap overall. …
Currently, you have +300 PPT, and have put Sanctum of Rall down to +135PPT. Tell us more about Blackgate not getting PPT all day or ever since this horrible patch.
The moment SoR’s TS went down was the moment Sor began dropping from the lead.
There are WAY more factors to consider than mere bloodlust. Server player/guild composition is another one.
Yes, kinda, sorta.
Where necros unbalance things with their conditions is when there’s someone else creating the distraction so that the necro can just free cast. It’s not as though you can see a necros attacks coming when dealing with someone else (they’re ranged), and dumping a massive aoe circle is easier than taking a kitten in the middle of the sidewalk, and infinitely harder to avoid if you just burnt your dodges vs the local stun warrior.
It used to be that thieves were the META all other classes had to build themselves around. Now it’s conditions. Necro’s are the major aoe condi spam class, and as conditions are currently, sure, you could say they’re OP.
0 damage?
So in my condition/crit setup I’m potentially loosing 3k’s or more worth of attack/crit damage on top of the ongoing confusion damage I’ve stacked?
I’ll pass. Nice idea though.
Shatter isn’t dead. Anet just gave us – gasp – some build diversity! Shatter specs haven’t really been nerfed.. but you’re definitely gonna need some condition removal nowadays.
Incorrect. All shatter builds had better peripheral, or direct confusion damage pre confusion nerf. Now a HUGE amount of shatter damage is gone and cannot be replaced.
I use a crit/condi version with manipulation traits and a load more armor, condition/boon duration. I run poison sigils on each weapon set (9 seconds of poison), which chops down those bunker/healers, and adds yet another condition on the stack to screw with condi removal.
Thieves are free kills in WvW.
As for warriors, there’s that cookie cutter longbow condi bleed warrior you see running everywhere. Warriors are crazy powerful now. Thieves are old meta. Get on the new meta train, choo choo!
Maybe it’s just me, but I get the feeling the “orb like mechanic” people enjoyed was the open world capturing and transporting of a physical object. The buffs were a part of it, adding weight and importance to the task, but it was the world event which drew everybody into it that really made it magical.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not hating on the new content/buff like a lot of other people are, but I wanted to ask and see if my impression was on the money or not?
The center of the map is now a constant action packed zone.
That said, it also feels like a distraction from what happens around the zone, what WvW used to be about.
Short answer: Yes.
All Thieves, Mesmers, and Ele’s are bereft of skill apparently.
…and yet I bet they’ll become the most integral part of your 20 man crusader squad.
I too will be on a WvW/GW2 Hiatus after this patch. As a player who has both WvW Buffs, Applied Fortitude & Guard Leech, and coming from a server who is currently decimating the opposition the buffs I have are too powerful.
Currently I Have:
+250 Power from Bloodlust stacks
+150 All stats from Bloodlust Buffs
+100 Power from Guard Leech
+100 Power and 10% Crit damage from food
+112 Power from Nourishment (toughness)
+ 55 Power from Nourishment (vitality)
+ 2500 Health from Applied FortitudeLeaving me with +767 Power & +4000 Health.
Anet, While I admire your determination to sway me into playing sPvP I will never want sit on capture points. It’s not going to happen. I will NOT go to sPvP for balance either, which I feel is another ploy to increase sPvP numbers.
Maybe one day you will realize that in GW2, WvW is the end game and it always has been.
You just made me realize Anet’s next big trading post cash cow. Tinfoil hats!
i knew it that it will turn out like that, this mechanic is fail, you guys from arenanet are not aware of the real issue, more peope = win, from now on even a bigger gap between the strong and weak populated servers, gratz
That score was generated well before the buff/patch. Those servers weren’t up to the challenge before the update.
I had this once when an enemy thief got the stealth trap revealed debuff in a keep of ours. Tracked him on the minimap.
We will be adding more liquid WXP that will be purchasable, likely with badges and some other currency, soon. As in, less than a month. I’ve made it a personal goal to improve the experience for playing alts in WvW. And to cut it off now, we are not making WvW rank account bound.
-Liquid WXP
-Faster gain rate
-WXP boosterWhen acc bound WXP would make all this work unnecessary…
/idon’teven
What there’s SO wrong it making it acc bound and cut it off? You’re doing everything to work around it while simply changing the WXP to acc bound would resolve all of that…
Just give a reasonable response.
Even “We want you to buy booster to make money” is ok, but give us one.
Yeah, and while they’re at it, how about making all my alts level 80 once my main reaches level 80. What’s SO wrong with making class level account bound!
Three orb buffs distributed evenly over three server?!
Relatively balanced point tick?!
Players getting on with, and playing the game?!
OMG WvW IS RUINED!

Yeah, I can post a screen cap too.

Anet ruined GvG because they want to force players indirectly to join the sponsored ESL?
This is just a question.
No. This is just you creating a story. Anet introduced blood lust because they wanted to introduce blood lust. It’s not hard to comprehend.
I believe they do. I did tests once with compounding celerity, spawning and racing shattered clones. It was a dead heat. Don’t know about runes, usually clones don’t benefit.
“Daze is an effect caused by some skills which interrupts and prevents the target from using skills for a period of time. NPCs who became dazed are forced to remain still for its duration. "
How is it useful? Ever attack a thief only to have him stealth and reset a fight? Hit him with daze and you’ll interrupt his heal and he’ll be unable to use a stealth skill for a few seconds, allowing for him to be burst down. Great with a shatter burst and IP.
Just one example
Lol, let me get this right.
So with the trait, you potentially decrease your own dmg ouput?@Menaka:
i think inactive means “under a control effect” too. But 5% is really underwhelming for a grandmaster minor. Sigil of Impact alone gives 10% to stunned or knocked down foes. /sad face
Real mesmers handicap themselves and STILL win.
The only, ONLY issue I see for mesmers in the zerg meta is the disparity for tagging between us and other classes. Tagging criteria needs to change, not so much mesmers.
Yes. Lets all cry a river.
Its funny. Ive never run glamour bomb, never run veil bot, or been expected to be some sort of portal kitten. Yet my commander was contacted by the enemy BG forces we often face asking after me. They conveyed their feelings on how good I was.
I think you need to look deep inside yourself and stop blaming Anet for whatever it is youve got going on. Hell, just yesterday a random guy on my server pm’d me to say I made him want to roll mesmer. No more excuses. Get out there. Be awesome.
yeah great for u, but this is not what most of my mesmer friends and i experience! the warriors domintate every zerg, our poor stability makes us vulnerable to the mass cc going on atm, necros melt us in seconds, yeah commanders ask me to veil them, they assume every mesmers uses veil all the time. eles have a ton of aoes and can actually tag next to theyr water/ fire fields.
all u hear in ts during zvz:
ok blast blast blast, veil, veil, veil, ok warriors ccc, guardians stability up, warriors cc, necro drop the bomb , veil, veil, veil, cc on the front cc in the front, veil, massinvis, necro fear, waterfields, waterfeilds, cc, veil veil,.soooo erm yeah. VEEEEEEEEEEEIIIIIIIIIL!
So what you want is a new weapon/skill/utility/feature that fits tightly into the zerg meta and can be captured by commanders in an easily shouted, short, pithy saying that isnt VEEEEEIIIIIIIL!
And this would improve your life how?
Call me crazy, but I do believe there is more going on in a fight than just those things which the commander calls. And after the second by second calls for movements, skills, rallies etc are done, the Commander is usually pretty spent for time to cram anything more into his rather sluggish spoken word per second language.
But hey, I hear you. I’m not down on us having more options and more to do. More fun for all!
Yes. Lets all cry a river.

I play advanced scout, and sapper. I.e. run ahead of the zerg, hold the circle vs enemy players/zergs, give advanced warnings, trip traps, bait enemy statics/cc’s, tail zergs, harass back lines, break bag farm lanes in keeps to infiltrate with portals, among other things.
As for damage, I don’t sweat it to much. Majoe DPS is someone elses role. I just drop iWarden’s, feedbacks, scepter 3, block proccing retal, spam clones for on death condi’s prestigue blast, sword auto, whatever. I don’t like to play a “stand in the back like a punk, squishy looser mesmer”, so I’m free to be anywhere from our back line, to the thick of the melee, to the enemy’s back line and wreck just as much kitten there as anywhere.
Fought pyro yet?
He has. Pyro needs work.
If your builds goal is to focus on Mobility, burst damage, and sustained bleeds and confusion, then this build is sub optimal.
I take a mix of condition damage, and crit damage, high condition duration, high boon duration for long swiftness, cd and range traited manipulations. Sword to apply burning from torch, focus to controll confusion application from confusing images.
That way I have high mobility, decent burst, good sustained conditions. Your choices are overall weaker for your stated goal.
I brought 4, but currently I’m using 2 (and can gear swap if I wanted).
30 chaos, 2x monk, 2x water, 2x traveller = 75% boon duration while maintaining 80% condition duration.
Good times.
I like scepter/torch.
I dislike going without scepter/torch.
My opinion of scepter/torch is that I’d only run scepter with torch is staff was the second set.
My idea for better use of scepter/torch is to use sword/torch scepter/focus
None. Because givers doesn’t appear to be an option.
i wasn’t playing during beta weekends but why was confusion even nerfed in spvp? were ppl qq’ing or anet decided to nerf it by themselves?
In the beginning all confusion was lame, and people across all three game modes lamented.
Then the devs said “Let there be confusion!” And “PvE” got the damage increase. In those days there was no separation between PvE and WvW, and so the people rejoiced across both game modes as confusion became a force to be reckoned with (ok, maybe not in PvE, but that’s another story).
Then the people in WvW cried, and the devs heard (got sick of) their cries. The devs separated PvE from WvW for balancing issues, and thus confusion was nerfed to once again suck in all PvP game modes.
So in short, sPvP was never buffed nor nerfed. It has always been as it is now.
do you think it would have been nerfed the way it was considering everybody’s condi conscious and runs extreme condi cleanse now?
I don’t give a kitten about Red Guard, nor do I see why their opinions matter any more than even the least of any servers militia men, or a dev actually working on the game.
So they made a youtube marking their take of WvW progression. So what.
Ballista is relocatable within a 1200 radius. Cooldown 2 mins.
Ballista ambushes ftw!
Doing so would invalidate the time people spend acquiring that gear. I think the heart of your post is in the right place, but what we would rather do is make possible for people to get the gear by playing WvW with a sprinkling of PvE, rather than the other way around.
Yes please.
All items etc acquired in WvW within a timely manner. → Pop over to Lions Arch to see a vendor quickly.
Seems fair.
I started playing my Mesmer on release. Have logged in every day. One year and counting later, it’s still the only character I play
Just watch vids

There are lots of mesmer tricks to learn, but they’ll come with practive. Watch other mesmers and you’ll get loads of ideas.
Dodge, block, condition cleanse, lemon grass, melandru, etc, etc, etc,…
Dodge and block an interrupt, which is being fired when you’re actively using a skill?
Back to gameplay 101 school for you.

Think Ogre has been a kind of voice of the PvP community for a while, thought this would be a nice message to spread the word more to those that don’t follow his show regularly
If Ogre is the voice of the PvP community, then he’s at the heart of any PvP problems, not Anet… Why would you waste your time listening to this guy?
You forgot the torch :O The phantasm sucks, but it provides stealth on a nice cd and condi-remove, if traited (that trait is about the only reason for me to take torch, but it’s a good one).
3 stacks of confusion for 5 seconds with 80% condition duration, every 6 seconds, removing a condition on cast and another on bounce when traited in a condition meta, hardly sucks.
Gotta build right, gotta use right.
Hmm, +25% movement speed on a x6 rune set, or amazing focus skills + 33% swiftness boon on a high duration (20-24s).
Yeah, one’s far inferior to the other.
I thought PPT was all that mattered?
Perhaps this will encourage fewer siege monkeys?
The meta should not discourage against Playing to Win. That is a crime against all games and gamers everywhere, for all time.
You state build variety for mesmer, then add slow movement speed for mesmer outside of combat.
If you build right (and there are various ways to do it), you can retain all the other pros AND have good ooc movement speed.
If its between necro and mesmer as said above, then mesmer by far as there’s no way a necro has the capabilities to deal with a properly played mesmer. No way no how.
