From a mesmer point of view, we definitely need a speed boost outside of Traveler’s Runes or having to use the bugged offhand Focus weapon that isn’t a random proc.
A passive utility skill in the form of a signet or perhaps a passive in a trait line would be very nice. We have zero swiftness otherwise.

Use your shatters. Daze with traited vulnerability helps a lot. Personally I run pistol instead of torch for more DPS. Also swap in a sigil of doom for on weapons swap poison which really nullifies the stupid passive warrior regen.
Generally speaking for PVE and Mesmer, spam your wardens. I would definitely use Greatsword as one of your weapons which lets you engage at distance and has a very direct damaging warden summon.
Mesmers are generally weak so she’ll be relying on her utilities to mitigate damage. This is a general rule of all classes but learning when to correctly time dodges is key. Learn when to use your heal skills (i.e. the main mesmer heal skill, Ether Feast, works better the more illusions/wardens you have casted, take advantage of this and time it correctly.
These tips are just basic but should start her on her way. As previously mentioned, Mesmers aren’t the easiest to level in PVE.
Things really help if you look closer into your build, the trait setup and the synergies that lie within them.
I weapon swap out of combat all the time.
Just press I for inventory, put the weapon set you want in the top left corner of your inventory and move the inventory screen to the bottom right corner as much as possible so that only the weapon set is visible. Then just double click on the weapon set whenever i need it. Then turn off inventory if i’m good.
Easy.
Sword / Pistol (Dat DPS)
I usually switch between GS / Staff depending on my mood but almost always run Sword / Pistol combo.
My friend i used to have this problem. Facing a warrior if you have the chance i remove torch. You don’t need to hide that much and use a berserker pistol off hand instead for more DPS. Also consider using superior sigil of doom on the pistol. (Poison on weapon swap) which will help nullify the stupid amount of regen warriors have.
Also as per previous answers, spec in more Zerker gear. PU helps you survive. Also try some shatters (wrack, cry) especially if your Phantasms come up in your rotation again.

The skill spam could be a glitch. Were there birds?
The bleed is assuredly sharper images trait coupled with perhaps sigil of earth (weapon crit proc)

Having played both i definitely prefer Power PU for roaming (in a group of 4+ and zerging).
Condi PU for solo roaming and small groups of 2-3.
Condi PU in my opinion is the superior dueling spec particularly against tanky warriors though the lack of chase / immob will always be an issue. Maybe swap in sword mainhand with torch for the cripple on decoy and immobilize?

Being a roaming build i find the extra condi clears very useful hence harmonious mantras and mantra of recovery. (6 x condi clears and 3 heals on a short CD) Try to time recharging MoR when invisible.
Very cool build! Ran it last night while roaming. Using Centaur instead of Traveler Runes to try it out on the cheap and it still worked very well. The HM + MoR is awesome. Having that extra charge really really helps and frees up a condition removal slot for a utility.
Hmm, centaur runes might be the better play with its increased power. I just had travelers on the build i had already. My trinkets are a bit of a mish mash as thats what i have but could probably be refined a lot better. (Full zerk?)

I think you’re thinking about it too much.
There’s no OP build. There’s only OP players. You need to settle on a class/build and play the crap out of it. You will start to reap the rewards.
And like i said earlier, test out your builds in PVP. The constant pressure you’re under in PVP improves your play out of sight.

Scaling damage based on zerg size is ridiculous. No one, no player would ever cop having their damage nerfed in a PVP environment simply because their group fields more numbers.
The way to beat a larger zerg is through superior play, thought out tactics. I will say though that removing hard rezing from WVW would help.
Attrition. That’s what should defeat zergs.

I specifically carry poison sigil (sigil of doom, on weapon swap) for warriors. They simply take too long to take down (if at all) otherwise. This is from a mesmer point of view running phantasm/zerker build.

blast finisher that leaves behind a smoke field. this givers Mesmer both a blast finisher and a helpful field that would allow us some pretty cool combos.
i like the idea of a blast finisher…but honestly blast finisher is not really a biiig change for mes in wvw for example. id rather have it an aoe or even better aoe interrupt
Considering most Mesmers have 0 blast finishers unless they run torch it would be a big deal especially for WVW……
Do you mean Mantra of Recovery rather than Mantra of Resolve in your post?
I wouldn’t take it either unless you had Harmonious Mantras somehow traited. With your current build it would only give you two charges for two condi clears per charge.
I do use Mantra of Recovery though in some builds with Harmonioius Mantra. The time to re-cast is in stealth particularly with decoy or veil or when you blink yourself out of trouble.
Just make it a blast finisher and that would improve the ability out of sight.

Powerbuilds still strong, especialy those who use power and mightstacking. I use dubble mightsingils on this build now, battle x 2 and strength X2 but firat I stack 250 power. Toying some with 40% duration Ford aswell.

Hello Osi, would you ever recommend (for WVW) using a superior sigil of doom to combat healing and regen on particularly tanky opponents?
Khrysaor is probably my favorite.
A nice elegant design.
Wish it had some sort of subtle particle effect to go with it.
Below link is my current Mesmer i use for WVW. Pretty much exact traits, gear etc.
I enjoy playing it and find i do quite well roaming in small groups and larger guild groups for the mix and match of gear i have.
My question is, to the pro mesmers out there, what gear, sigils should i be using? I based a lot of this off Osicat’s Power PU build. Would you look to swap in more zerker gear? Should i be using sigil of fire or is there a better alternative?
Note that i absolutely want to keep using G/S and Sword/Pistol and Duelist Discipline is an absolute must for me. I’d just like some help refining what i have (and so i dont go spending a bunch of gold on gear that doesnt really help). As you can see i like doing burst damage via phantasms and I really dont shatter much unless i’m really going for the kill or need a quick distortion/daze etc.
Thoughts?

ehhhh kit refinement is overnerfed
having both toolbelt reset and auto medic response doesnt help you, unless im missing something about the wording and they dont both proc at the same time. so like you kinda want 15+ tools or 15+ inventions but not both.
soooo… power shoes not good imo. speedy kits + trade valk pistol for cavalier to make up for the toughness loss. aaaand put those points in alchemy for prot injection or elixir s at 25%. the boon duration helps your might stacking too, but tbh juggernaut is another can of worms i wont go into since you insist on ft. (and the power loss you think youll take from switching to cav from valk gets made up by the elixir b you drink at 75%)
dont like momentum sigil, why stack 125 toughness when you can have 250 power or precision? moar stats r mo betta
Good points, i will say the sigil is a preference thing, damage vs survivability. The whole proc thing, i didn’t even jerry, lol. I’ll re-work it. Thanks for your input.
Build uses FT and EG eschewing Grens/bombs.
Also use Kit Refinement, Adrenal implant and Power shoes.
Toolbelt recharge drops Bandage Self (5k heal) to only 15.5 seconds CD.
Remember this is more for zerging or running in a guild raid. Power Shoes and Adrenal Implant will help keep you alive and mobile as a good FT engi should do. High crit and hit rate for nice AOE flame blast every 5 seconds. Most other traits are geared towards staying alive so you can flame flame flame. Remember to switch to EG in a fight to drop glue trail.
Rocket boots as a get out of jail card..
This is just a bit of fun and could take a bit of getting used to but should be fun if you’re tired of the same old stuff.

This is a bad idea. It is SOOOOOOO ripe for abuse by any kitten who has 100g. No way.
That’s what the report function is for.
Obviously there’d be limitations with the amount of messages allowed to be sent. Maybe one an hour by a commander.
- Completely remove the ability to resurrect fully dead/staked players. This will 100% help smaller more skilled forces taking on larger zergs. It will actually make it mean something if you force players to respawn at WP’s!
- Allow only one player to rally per player death. This is fair. A player for a player. Not a player for 5-6 that tagged him.
Guild commanders may not always be on but guild members might be.
A server wide rally call could reach everyone in one hit. The tool isn’t there yet.
A server can be rallied especially if there’s a bit battle about to occur. I’ve seen it happen but it took a lot of players having to spam map chat in the most populated locations.
Pretty basic, allow Commanders to send out server wide messages to rally troops. This could make a huge difference to servers that are struggling to hold keeps.
Obviously put a limit on the amount of messages sent per hour perhaps, or some other limitation to prevent spamming.
I’m pretty easy, i’d simply like to be able to swap into a kit (i.e Elixir Gun or FT) using the weapon swap button.
I play on BP also.
I can’t tell if its dieing or not, but personally i’m still having a lot of fun running with guildies or other crews getting into fights and collecting loot bags. Yes, our constant matchup with Dragonbrand means we get PVD’d out the proverbial, but it doesn’t really matter. There’s always someone to fight and usually good open field battles to be had at times other than peak Oceanic.
I just look forward to the day we have an Oceanic crew big enough to start rolling these PVD’ers.
