Condition+Banner healing warrior

I’ve been running Condition/Toughness/HP coupled with some rampagers for quit a bit of time now. 0/20/20/30/0 seems to work pretty decent in PvE, but with Sword/Shield, both traited. OH sword for PvE can be interesting, but I prefer more defensive style and torement doesn’t do full potential damage due to most of npcs not moving around often. It is fun, more versatile than shout builds because you use only one utility banner to get the 100% regen uptime effect, so you can adapt other two utilities pretty easily. I like to bring infamous FGJ for more support and bleeding and Balanced Stance. As for runes, I wouldn’t go for any +boon duration, maybe condition duration. For weapons, either Sigil of Earth if you do have some crit chance (having about self 10% crit is perfectly enough since you maintain fury on your own) or Sigil of Water if you like

Anet fix GS 4 Counter atack

It’s supposed to do so Atherakhia. On successfull melee block, it kick the target, knocking it back for 300. Problem is, animation is very slow and you still take damage while performing kick ability. Either make it faster or give it evade for duration of kick animation.
As for 100b or pistol whip…I believe it does knock attacker off, however due to long cast time, you still take damage from these skills during the animation. Never seen any other issue with this skill.

To be fair, the problem with SB was always the same : auto-attack. It’s basiclly faceroll damage, working incredibly well with power, much better than Longbow. Skill ceiling of SB is kind of non-existing if you don’t go for flanking bleeding. From my experience, it’s just more rewarding to run around target, spamming #1 shot than swapping to LB to burst. As it was and is a big problem, they’re trying to reduce ranged-like effectivness of SB, as you don’t really flank going for further distance and make it something it was, I believe, meant to be – condition short range skirmish weapon, oriented in nearly melee encounters when you have possibility to hop on foe’s back.

We just need some game echanics, promoting earing for non-full zerker. Change it so dodges out of red circles aren’t everything. Force players to take some damage via boss mechanic (Enrage – Boss attacks 10% faster and does 7% more damage for every stack, gained in certain periods of time or like every 5% hp you take from him. When he hits player, he loses one stack but next attacks, let’s say for some rotation or period of time on this player don’t remove next stacks, so to keep Enrage at bay, every player has to get some damage, maybe splitable or reduceable. And let’s say, you can lure boss to some objects which hitted by his attack, remove all stacks and weaken him, broken upon hit, like 3 of them for fight, rewarding smart play and maybe giving some space for non-tough runs). Just an example.

The Thief feels more Rangery than the Ranger

I was thinking about something you mentioned as a utility. 60 second base cooldown. You, your pet and one ally(or without ally) go into stealth for 30 seconds. In stealth, you move 50% slower than base and swiftness/teleport doesn’t work, same like with carrying orb on Spirit tPvP map. Cast time – 3,5 second, requires being stationary. During Camouflage, you may break the stealth by pressing utility button, giving anyone affected by Camouflage +50% damage boost to next attack and 1 second stun.
and qNow this would be pretty much longest stealth avalible in-game. I was thinking about some counterplay, similar to WoW options like when you’re closer to enemy than 100 or 200, they may see you and you’re targetable for like 1.5 second, then your’re going invisible for next 1,5 sec and your’re targetable for next 1,5 sec if still in that range. Base purpose of it? WvWvW, maybe some PvE and tPvP. Really easy to interrupt and you’re very vunerable casting it. However, kind of powerful and fun

I want it to be viable. If you consider having any CC, strong skill, or AoE viable is a copy of Warrior, then we won’t get to any discussion. Our traits (Remorseless, MoC) are already there, waiting for any skill that can make them more viable.

@Chrispy – Longbow doesn’t equal my vision of Rifle. But we need some serious power ranged option, usable in game. There’s ninche for ranged weapon with short-cd AoE shot, for CC weapon in general and for serious one-hit ranged attack which may make 25 minor trait for MM and Remorseless to get any consideration. Enough to make new weapon of it.

Still getting burst by thieves in wvw

There are two ways. First is, described above LB/GS and it works quite nice if timed well.
However, for more MM-oriented style of play, I can suggest to go LB/SB. When you don’t have block on that setup, you have way more sustained damage coupled with nice soft and hard CC +quick evade.on 7 second cooldown. Quick Draw lowers cds on both bows, keep in mind. In this setup, you might get the first hit, but after that, with proper kiting, you’ll keep safe distance, keeping thief at bay with Quick Shot, canines/spider, Crippling Shot and Muddy Terrain, saving #5 for their re-stealth. Switching between Shortbow and Longbow will give you nice, constant damage, not depending on maul, easily avoidable. One Maul is about 3-4 SB shots, so about 2 seconds of auto-attack in power oriented build.
One thing you lack is escape ability. But you can always run Leopard if you can’t lock down perma stealth thief. All hail Norn and laugh on asura !
Ah. LB/SB works pretty well on S/x Thieves even in tpvp if you’re focused.

Rifle could be either CC based weapon or AoE oreinted. If they make LB 1500 range based, rifle could hop on 1200 range as our medium-range weapon. I can see purpose for that one, something like a stun or immobilize, disengage skill, easy-access AoE coupled maybe with some CC/Support (Multi-Shot with short immobilize/cripple on low cd for multiple targets? Sounds cool) and some kind of charged shot, similar to Warrior’s Kill Shot, but doing less damage and castable on move. As a power-based weapon, I think it might find a sweet ninche for Power Rangers, who prefer to rather play to strenghts and keep distance than going for melee mauling, which is… weird if your main goal is to keep highest range as possible. Also, some sweet AoE ranged skill with possibility to kite multiple targets via it, CC… All what power ranger needs atm. Also, Remorseless would finally find some usage if we get some one-hit burst skill.

From mostly ranged player perspective, I find S/D Thieves most troublesome of all classes when it comes to keeping range. Ability to constantly spam one button and stick to the target as glue for whole time… It’s just too easily accessible when it comes with 1200 shadowstep and stealth. It has to be really toned down
My overall suggestion for Thief as a class would be to make them more combat-based than stealth-based. Atm they’re forced to run very glassy way and ANet, to compensate that, gives them more and more easy-access cheesy mechanics like evades on everything, teleporting all around and very high access to stealth.
Iml, they should be build less about everything-imay be one of options, but without current stealth-rate of D/P), more about toe2toecombat with a lot of blocks, dodges and defensive abilities coupled with some stealth of course , pr, protection…etc…etc. Currently, they’re crap in design. Ranger-The Edge of Insanity – but at the level of warriors.

Will Ascended items become unbound?

They’ve introduced new tier of gear, because they felt exotics are too easy obtainable. They’ve already broken Legendaries and don’t want to do the same with ascended. See, if you play the game, do content and work hard for your gear, you might be dissapointed that whoever has stuffed credit card can buy the same gear, not going outside of LA, not playing game at all.
With Ascended, they’ve done two things – made professions, which were skipped by most players very important and cut off these kids, buying everything off from TP from ew shinies. Same for tequatl, since you couldn’t buy achievments, sunless weapons and you had to kill hardest world boss to get them, QQ started.
Keep ascended bound, do the same for Legendaries.

How Legendaries Should Have Been

If they introduce new legendaries, first of, they HAVE TO BE ACCOUNT BOUND. Seeing “legendaries” on TP makes me sick.
After all things mentioned above by OP, you’d get a PRECURSOR.
And from that, challange begins. Quest-type objectives, requiring you to defeat 1v1 enemies with difficulty at the level of Liadri and above (with not really AoE only mechanics, more advanced in mechanics, requiring you to change utilities/traits/weapons sometimes), quizes checking your knowledge on games’ lore, and finally, defeating hardcore version of DOPPELGANGER of yourself 1v1. This way, player could be really proud of his achieved weapon, meaning he’s actually good and put some effort in the game. After such long, hard challange he would know much more about the lore of weapon he wields and lore overall, because game would FORCE HIM to do it. To prevent google check – timer for answers and large question base.
After that, I’d accept adding some of legendaries bounded with GW lore – Scepter of Orr, Scythe of Reaper…

It hurts mostly Hammer/Longbow builds, as 0.3 second more on Earthshaker isn’t really worth. However, GS/Mace will still work pretty well, 3.45 sec stun is long enough for almost whole 100 blades, if target is not quick enough, it’ll still eat last blow.

If they would remove range requirement, add some 1.5-2sec casted hard-hitting shot to #1 under some conditions I mentioned many times or simply replace Rapid Fire with it, make HS 4 second, unblindable, only blockable, reflectable or evadeable, make PBS instant and revmap Barrage or at least make it 1/2 cast, LB wouldn’t be that bad.
Without any decent burst one-hit skill, Remorseless is a joke atm.

As for response: You don’t have to run any signets as a power ranger, especially after incoming pet hp boost which will make Protect Me even better. Answering to the need of SoR: You don’t really need that one, but if you like, you can always swap it with other utilities, since non of them is true core to my build. With proper play on WvWvW and utlizing your max range/stealth/CC conditions will simply fall off from you before condi class will be able to stack them truly high.
Kiting, even what horrible movement as in Guild Wars 2 is quite possible and effective. Not even speaking about melee classes, because it’s obvious need to kite the, but it works great for Ranged ones too. Remember, if you kite condimancer above 900 range, he won’t be able to do anything!

WvW: Mixing Zerker´s ?

Signets are crap. Actually, I’d suggest you to go for full Soldier/Senitel armor with Traveler runes (+25% speed and saved utility slot, not to mention other stats), Valkyrie/Berserker weapons(Sigil of Fire for LB, of Energy or Hydromancy on GS) and mostly Berserker jewelery(especially if Ascended as crit damage has like 2x better stats trade than on exotics), which can be further mixed with cavalier, but it’s your choice. You don’t need anything over 50-55% crit chance and your crit damage can be below 100%, you still do decent damage, power is very important. If you try to solo roam, don’t even try to go full zerker. As for traits : 20/20/30/0/0will give you nice condition removal and survability (remember to be careful if you take Shared Anguish instead of Hide in Sight trait, because CC transfer to your pet will eventually break
“Protect Me!”) while still maintaining good damage.
Signets suck. SoW is kitten without good chunk of Healing Power, you won’t use it for stomp as it’s bugge and 25% damage…seems nice, but not for trade like this. SoH….not worth anything, worst active skill ever. SoS… Not a stunbreaker, requires 30 in MM, still not utilizing 25 point minor trait.
As for utilities: TU, Muddy Terrain, L. Reflex, “Protect Me!”, RaO.

Should muddy terrain get reveal?

Maybe not reveal debuff. Just stealth break without giving reveal debuff and keep the cd.

A thing besides the perma stow for pet I would LOVE to see….

A LB skill that is a charged up high dps power shot. Like a Ranger class in every single other MMO has. Something that take a while to charge, but hits like a truck.

Take out Rapid Fire, and add a sniper like power shot that adds 5 stack of vulnerability with a high base damage. 1-5 second cast with damage increasing the longer you wait to shoot.

Why this is missing from the class is beyond me.

This. I imagine #2 skill like that : It does way more damage, extra damage if casted stationary, 6 sec cooldown traited, resets every time you immobilize target.
