Another update by OP:
Act 4 of the story just seems like one big trap from the start.

Mordremoth used Logan and Zojja as bait to lure you in while getting as many clones of them as he can for his army.
Once you break them out, Faolain shows up and you’re forced to chase her down and kill her only to see Trahearne get pulled away right to where he can suddenly teleport you to the said ‘’weak spot.’’
He could’ve kept the barrier vines up on the paths to block you from reaching his center, but he doesn’t.
He could’ve had multiple armies of Mordrem overwhelm you, but he doesn’t.
He could’ve easily stopped Trahearne from portaling you into his mind, but he doesn’t.

And why else would Faolain be there at the right moment?
’’You’ll never make it to Trahearne!’’

leads you straight to Trahearne

Almost as if he’s absolutely sure that he can corrupt you inside of the Dream. He almost succeeded with Canach, and considering how hard the fight against him is by yourself, he has enough strength to where it’s possible to overpower you and take you out. It’s only because you started turning things against him inside of it that he realized this was an error, he had no clue the PC had so much willpower by this point.

This isn’t a surprise considering he outplayed us during Season 1 of the LS (especially during the Tower of Nightmares when through Scarlet he saw what makes us tick), so of course he would think he had the upper hand here. Unfortunately for him, a lot about our characters has changed since Scarlet so his tricks couldn’t work against us at the end of HoT.

EotM has outlived its usefulness

No, EotM is still useful for those times when you just want to screw around in a WvW-like area without your server’s PPT being on the line. Besides, a nice ktrain can be relaxing…at least when you don’t have guild groups coming in and ganging up on one of the colors because they don’t have many people on.

I know there are people who like a strong leader system, but this does work well, IMO.

It’s a forum, people discuss something.
Nobody cares about your opinion if you can’t give any reasoning behind it.

Seriously. All I see from this community are ignorant selfish opinions without any reasoning or arguments.

All you get as answer is the same bullkitten. “Muh GW2 is different, just accept that”.
No, that’s a kittened justification for something being good which is clearly not good as stated by many facts.

An attitude like this tends to show off how you lead parties…and the vote kick is there to get rid of people who are troublesome either in attitude or just not playing well, and to prevent them from holding the party back from completing something.

I’ve had a dungeon where 2 of the other 4 were holding us back, and we couldn’t complete the burrows in AC because of it. So I started a vote kick on one of them, he got kicked, then we kicked the other and replaced them. We got 2 new people in there and we proceeded to complete the place with no problems.

If you are holding back the party from completing a dungeon, then yes, you should be kicked regardless if you’re party leader or not.

Honestly a much much bigger problem is how the Celestial – and virtually any new – gear cannot be traded. It’s all account bound.

New guildie levels up to 80, can’t give them an exotic set of their choice. Meh.

I guess they expect people to go to Orr and buy one of the exotic sets from the temple vendors.

A simple request for you Anet, please remove this “can be made only once per day” gating from the Charged Quartz Crystals. Nothing they make can be sold in the TP nor traded, so keeping a time gate this far after they were introduced seems unnecessary.

OP here. I found another reason as to why Mordremoth isn’t dead.

7.No one in your party got corrupted.
Arenanet stated that if any sylvari gets too close to the dragon, they WILL become mordrem. No exceptions. Yet when we simply waltzed into his “epicenter”, Caithe and Canach (and your sylvari character) didn’t become corrupt or showed signs of it. Not even Trahearne, who retained himself until the very end. Though we were in Mordremoth’s "center’’ for a couple of weeks and in his BRAIN….we STILL didn’t turn into his slaves. You don’t even have an excuse when an effing HERO POINT establishes this.

Mordremoth’s full attention and power was not on your characters, he legitimately could not corrupt you without causing himself some serious problems in the battle at Dragon’s Stand outside. So he had to keep his energy divided, and his best chance of corrupting anybody could only happen when one or both sides were taken out. But the battle raged on outside, and we entered his section of The Dream to defeat him.

If you took Canach with you, you’ll notice that during his fight he outright states that he cannot fight back anymore after 25%, he didn’t have the resistance to Mordremoth enough to fight his corrupted illusion and avoid being taken over, so he left the illusion to us to avoid being taken over, signs that any sylvari who isn’t a firstborn may have problems. Caithe meanwhile has no problems, which we can assume is due to her being a Firstborn, thus she has more of the Pale Tree’s protection by being one of the first children she passed her magic to. This also explains why Trahearne held out as long as he did. The only excuse our PC has as a sylvari for avoiding this is that we held Glint’s egg, it gave us its energy at one point, and chose us to defend it. It gave us more resistance to his corruption.

The only time Mordremoth had enough power to corrupt anybody close was when both his body and his mind were taken out, meaning both battles were won. The only place left he was in at this point was inside Trahearne, so it was a concentrated source. But we destroyed him here.

There are no exceptions to being corrupted if Mordremoth is at full power, but he had to handle an army at his mouth while dealing with some of the most powerful fighters in the world in his head. He couldn’t do both at once.

It is Impossible To Get the Shatterer Crystal because of all the blinds and the zergs .
i just finished my 29th kill … NOTHING !
i did not see it happen once , this is BS !

I noticed that right now need 105 hero points to complete my elite spec, but when i see the world map i noticed that there are 40 hero points left to unlock.

where do i get the other 65 hero points?

WHY are you even trying to go to full servers in the first place ??
there is enough available servers if you’re guild is there find a new one no big deal.

Because I was gone for 6 months, came back only to find out my entire guild went up to Jade Quarry from Sea of Sorrows. We are a WvW guild so I have to transfer up just so I can WvW with them, otherwise I’m useless to them and I’m having no fun. It would be nice if they moved, but from what I’ve been hearing the plans to move are not likely to happen soon.

It’s not lost. Turns out they put it in another line. I’m not sure what determines which line they put it in, but they definitely put it in one. Forgot about my mastery points for a while, remembered about them, thinking they were lost. Turns out they threw the excess exp from my Pact Commander Mastery line down into the Fractal line.

9 characters, one for every class.

The thief, ranger, mesmer, warrior, and revenant are all male charr, the guardian is a female human, the engineer is a male asura, the necromancer is a male norn, and the elementalist is a female sylvari. The thief, ranger, mesmer, warrior, and elementalist all have their full elite specs unlocked, so they’re all level 80. The engineer is level 26, the necromancer is level 20, the revenant is level 23, and the guardian is level 50.

I have a feeling we may see Garm in some fashion, either dead or alive. If he’s alive, I certainly hope that Rox gets to take care of him, that way he will stay near the group. Besides, he took care of Eir during her many adventures and helped forge her legend, I think he would do a fine job helping the group forge theirs.

there was a location in HoT story with tons of chak veterans. A room of death as i call it. Just throw it into the open world, every 3 steps, every wp, every poi, every vista. Make it so every kill counts as a hero point but give no exp and grants no loot. Then show us some fancy skins or armours and bug them so no1 would ever find or equip them. Call it a progress and call it a day.

That was pre-nerfed Orr, in terms of mob density.

Let no one forgot Orr when the game first released <3

Don’t remind me. I did it shortly after the original Karka Invasion of Lion’s Arch, as a Ranger. This was before the pets buff to prevent them from generating aggro just by being there. So many undead…SO MANY UNDEAD!

I meant no offense, so of course feel free to disagree. Orr is just way easier, IME (or I’ve been doing it too long.)

Try running across it to get to the hero challenges, meaning you’re not killing anything. It’s so evil and hard like this…but I agree, the mobs when you’re actually fighting them are easy (as are the ones in HoT). HoT has the advantage in this department simply because of gliding, and that you don’t see as much CC from there.

I do agree that PvE here in HoT is easy, but look at the alternative…we could have another Orr, with CC spamming adds everywhere. That’s actually the only reason why I consider Orr the hardest place in the game, even now…THE kitten ED CC SPAM!

Wait, whut?

The most CC I get in Orr is a few cripples and maybe a charging rush from an easily avoided abomination. Even old school Orr wasn’t that bad, just a little cramped.

Expac? Literally, almost every reptile mob has a knockdown attack, and most of them charge while doing it. And they’re borderline immune to counter-CC. Mushrooms, same deal, and the kings have a scorpion wire attack. And it all happens on virtually zero cooldown.

Opposite for me. In Orr, I’ve had the following in just the last 10 minutes.

Immobilize, knockdown, knockback, fear, chill, cripple, and daze.

If I include the other conditions I’ve had every single one in the game put on me in 10 minutes in just the Straits of Devastation alone, running from point A to point B. In Verdant Brink the worst I get it knockback, burn, and poison.

There’s a chance that Modremoth and Zhaitan will appear “alive” in some form or other “at the end,” if the Elder Dragons are part of some grand conspiracy tied up with the fabric of the world, but for narrative purposes, I think they’re dead. I’m okay with that, and ready to move on to fighting something other than Modrem for a while.

This is probably what will happen. If you notice, when Mordy dies, he screams “WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!?” From the way it sounded, it wasn’t a scream that he can’t believe you killed him, but rather a scream of what will happen BECAUSE you killed him. Recalling a cutscene back in the Season 2 Living Story, we saw the Eternal Alchemy and all the dragons seemed to be linked to it, with Mordy even looking at us through it. We’re messing with the natural order here in some way, and it probably won’t end well for Tyria.

Why not just populate HoT with L99 mobs and force players to group? This PvE is still too easy.

What am I supposed to think being able to solo champs?

Make the AI more responsive to player attacks and strategy, please.

I lol at the people glad he’s dead. You don’t realize, he’ll be considered the hero by the people still living for killing Mordremoth by dying. He’s already usurped us, and depending how the remaining people in the Pact take it, WE’LL be the ones suspected and hated because they may think we were jealous of Trahearne and killed him. This entire story may have just pulled a 180 with us looking like the bad guys to NPCs ingame for killing the Pact Marshal.

Going further about the Wyld Hunt, when Sylvaris were revealed as minions of Mordremoth, everyone’s Wyld Hunt became suspect to me. Sylvaris lead the attack on Zhaitan and the Marshal’s Wyld Hunt was to cleanse Orr. Sylvari were uncorruptable by Zhaitan. Were the Sylvari a “plant” by Mordremoth to destroy a rival Elder Dragon? I wonder if Trahearne felt extremely manipulated.

Luckily ours is incredibly vague. It was to defeat a dragon…the Dream never specified WHICH dragon.

"Iterate" the rest of HOT HPs

It took me 8 days to finish my Berserker spec, and I noticed a SUBSTANTIAL decline in the amount of people actively working on HP’s throughout that time. It got to the point where it was actually faster to run EotM and grind WvW levels for HP than to actually go to the new zones and get groups for them.

I will NEVER level any of my alts in this game because of this system.

I with you, man. The Elite Specialization, the biggest draw for me pre-release, is now the most frustrating and bungled aspect of the expansion pack.

Run through all the other areas first and get all the HP from them. Will leave you with needing around 4 HP challenges in the HoT areas to finish an elite spec, which is easily done.

Which I think is silly for then to do since they are the Elder “Dragons”

The Elder Dragons seem tied to the Eternal Alchemy as a cutscene showed us back in Season 2. If you think about it, each seems to be a corrupted version of something. Zhaitan was corrupted life, thus undead. Mordremoth was corrupted plants, thus his form. I think we’re going to find out that the Elder Dragons themselves are physical manifestations of the world itself, only corrupted by some force. Wouldn’t surprise me if the final expansion has us finding said corruption and neutralizing it permanently.

Unashamedly a fangirl rather than a hater. As a Sylvari main, never really understood people’s hatred, and always felt the story a partnership of 2 Wyld Hunts (or 3 with Caithe’s).

I think the worst thing for me wasn’t that he sacrificed himself to kill Mordy, but that you had to do it. That part was what I felt was pandering too much to the hate club.

I know that feel. If it helps, some of us who did it had music playing in our heads. This is what I had playing in mine during the moment.

Definitely works man, tried it in PvP while doing the dailies. Only enemy that gave me a problem in the fighting was a Revenant.

It has been mentioned here bfore, that a druid gives 5 people a 25% damage buff, with glyph and Grace of the Land. So a condition druid for example, would make up that damage loss easy with those buffs. As condition druid damage output is also pretty good.

Got a good build for that? Been wanting to do conditions with my Druid but I haven’t found anything really good yet.

That’s what you think. They’re going to need a Marshal in the background, not on the battlefield to deal with the various commanding from afar should things go wrong. A possible person for this job could be Laranthir himself, unless Glint’s child takes the role.

And enrage the community more than Trehearne already has? Yes, that’s a wonderful idea. Lets remove the leader of the Pact and then randomly appoint some new person to be our new boss. Hell, they even made us the leader of DE 2.0 despite the fact that it was Marjory that brought everyone together, it was Marjory who already had the investigation company, and it was Marjory who had all the detective skills that were needed at the time. Marjory should be the leader, not us, but because the community can’t seem to handle anyone but them being the most important person in the room she suddenly defers to us at the beginning of LS2 as if that had always been the case.

No, we have absolutely zero business being the leader of the Pact, but based on how chain of command works we ARE the leader of the Pact now.

This guy gets it.

ArenaNet, please tell the story you want to tell, not what the community wants it to be.

Does Anet have a history of reversing nerfs?

This is what ANet does with rangers: They will nerf a skill to near uselessness, and then over the course of two or three years, very, very slowly add little buffs to make that skill a little more useful . . . or re-tune it in some bizarre way . . . or not touch it at all.

Spirits, hyena, bleed builds, short bow, long bow, etc.

That’s not hyperbole. That’s ranger history. Your answer is no. But they will tweak some things to keep the natives from getting too restless.

The PvP community isn’t used to seeing a ranger class able to hold its own. They’re used to us being free kills. And they’re not happy about that change.

Thus the massive gutting of skills and pets.

And if you’re in doubt? Ranger is King of Underwater PvP combat. Do you know what happened to all the underwater combat in PvP including a certain PvP map?

There’s your answer.

They need to get it through their thick skulls to ignore PvP or separate it from PvE/WvW. Because seriously, whenever they nerf something for PvP they break Ranger across the board. Not to mention PvP in this game actively sucks because it’s all control, and we all know that anything that can bunker down is nerfed because it’s too good for modes like that. <_<

The bar did that at the last beta. It filled up and you got a notice that you needed to select another.

I guess people complained about the notice popping up in the middle of a fight so they took it out. :/

I’d still like that happening, but keep it at the upper left corner.

This would work IMO. Don’t ask us to use the points if we have them. If we’re gaining exp in that line, we WANT to put the points there ANET. Just immediately put the points there (unless we don’t have enough) and have the popup come out telling us we’ve mastered that skill.

Thank you for your reply, Dengar! It is my feeling, as well. Unfortunately, there has been a couple let-downs lately, and I do think as you do; we must voice it! Hopefully, that will be sooner than later; I want to be ready for the raids.

The first raid wings they will introduce dont need you to be in ascended gear.
And i would guess that by that time they introduce the final wings that need ascended gear, you will have enough drops of random ascended armor and weapon boxes from the first wings, wvw, pvp or lower level fractals, to have a full ascended built as you can change the stats on ascended gear for a cost that equals the cost of an exotic set.

Sounds like Alexander Normal and Alexander Savage in Final Fantasy XIV. Normal you really only need the bare minimum endgame gear equipped (think Exotic) while for Savage you need the best stuff available (think Ascended). Normal mode drops some of the best stuff available to help you get geared out for Savage.

If they’re going by that model, with the first wings of the Raids having high ascended equipment drop rates, then I really won’t have a problem with the raids coming, and it’ll help people gear out so we don’t have to do the annoying ascended crafting grind. If not, I think we should send a few Mordrem to Anet to see how fast they’ll change their minds. ;p

Fixed: Changed from “offline” to “online” by accessing friends list from character select. Try messing with your online/offline status before trying to enter a map, see if that fixes it. worked for me.

So what exactly are we supposed to be doing here? This fight is rediculously easy, I really don’t understand what the problem is, just run around him in circles and you’re good, then slowly back away from Rytlock and Marjory when they come. It’s too easy.

Then he starts charging up and I don’t get what’s supposed to happen. The first time I tried blocking, because he said block, but that didn’t work. The second time I got knocked up into the air, but I didn’t hit glide in time, and it didn’t look like I could do anything anyway since I don’t have Leyline Mastery. I tried bunkering down with Braham, but that also didn’t work.

Is this fight locked behind a Mastery that they didn’t bother to mention?

No, it’s just incredibly glitchy, like when the Zhaitan fight first came out.

agree, elite unlock should not be done easily, game experience in the long run will suffer.

I lol’d. We never had gating of the traits back in the original first year of GW2, and we still had a lot of people doing content. This will not do anything to game experience if having free traits didn’t do that back then.

I simply don’t understand… I play thief DD/SB, almost 100% zerk. I tried 6 times and it heals back up everytime. I had all the boosts possible (armor, damage, food, etc…) and this is clearly not doable by my character (i’m full ascended too). I’ve a good experience of thief playing and I never got such a problem! I can keep the stacks on her very low (0-3) but it always end the same way… And also, why isn’t it possible to dodge some of her attacks?
Maybe I’m doing something wrong?

I managed to get this done a few minutes ago. Have Dagger Storm ready for this one. Whenever she goes invulnerable and pulls out adds, turn on Dagger Storm, this will help weaken/kill most of them. For the rest burn through as fast as possible to mitigate this damage. When it reaches final phase without invulnerability, ignore the adds completely and BURN HER DOWN. This last phase is a DPS race, so go all out, try and spam DB and dodge out and in when the double AoEs come. As long as you don’t get knocked down, you should easily do enough damage to win.

What prevents her from healing back up to 25%?

The stacks she gets from the enemies that get to her. You’re essentially burning her down before she can get to 10 or higher.

Give it 30 seconds to reset when you respawn. That’s all you need to give it, and it’ll be fixed.

I had all these bugs as well. From what I can tell it will reset properly if you give it time to. However, because it doesn’t this can be abused in your favor if you’re at final phase. I accidentally died at final phase due to the dreaded thief skill queue with DB, and immediately re-entered. His defiance gauge was available to break and I broke it, instantly throwing me into final phase.

Double spoilering for people who enter this topic and want to complain that I’m giving spoilers.


A big massive THANK YOU Anet, for giving a final battle against an Elder Dragon that’s difficult, challenging, and worth writing home about. Having to use mechanics to take down the bosses, not to mention giving us a tearjerker moment of awesome when you brought back the Order Mentor to help us. Do you know how hard I was crying when I saw Tybalt!? I died shortly afterwards due to it, but hey, you made me feel things.

I’m giving you a 2nd big THANK YOU for the fact that you used a suggestion I gave years ago on how to make the Zhaitan fight better, and ran with it, evolving it into this great final battle we now have. You guys have redeemed yourselves for the Zhaitan fight of vanilla Guild Wars 2. WELL DONE!

This forum has 64 pages, so I’m not gonna scroll it back, but I do wanna ask a question that maybe already has been asked.
I’m now on 70% of my spec. Some skills are already unlocked, but why I can’t use them?
Why I have to be full 100% to use any skills what I have unlocked already? I want to try out my skills on the new map, and not finishing the new map and then try it. It makes totally no sense at all.
When u start a new character u can play with any weapons and skills but u need to lvl it up aswell but u can use them when u unlocked it so u have a good experience, now it’s totally the opposite way. I need to play till end game then I can play with my new specs and then I need to walk over again the whole map to do the stuff what I have done already? i see people farming CoF, some of my guildies are lvl 56-60. that is not how I want to do it. I want to play the expansion with my new specs in ur new maps. And not playing the new maps with my old specs. If u clear out the first map u should able to play with ur new stuff to explore the next 3 maps, but no players, u need to clear out the 4 maps and then we give u ur new specs to play with. To ply what? It’s already end game en story. Doing those chain event with those new specs? No it’s so boring to do that over and over and over again.

You have to have the elite specialization traitline set in order to use those skills. They are directly tied to it.

I was hoping to at least see her transform into a bear and charge the beast. She transformed a lot in the novel Edge of Destiny.

Now that you mention it I completely agree. Why didn’t she become the bear or wolf? Even if the end is the same, she could have died fighting instead of just being fridged for Braham’s character development. If Kasmeer can pump out a bunch of illusions on the Breach Maker because she’s a special little mesmer snowflake, why can’t Eir, one of Tyria’s most legendary norn, die fighting in bear form even in a weakened state? She was well enough that after we free her, she engaged the boss (unlike Logan/Zojja in chapter 15 who need first aid in a much more dire situation). This story has become so centered around the biconics, not only was the Pact destroyed to make way for them, now even Destiny’s Edge are being fridged as character development for them.

As Sero said…starved, dehydrated, probably didn’t have enough energy/endurance to pull it off.

Nothing, it just takes longer than a lot of people expected despite the jungle hero challenges being worth 10 points.

God does it. All those group hero challenges, not to mention how many are locked behind certain masteries.

My suggestion would be to take breaks. Not saying this in a judgy way (you could even take a break with another game) but when it starts to feel like work, it’s probably time to walk away and do something else for awhile.

This is what I suggest also. Since I was playing all day yesterday, I’m playing through more Tales of Zestiria today to help get the grind out of my system. I’ll be heading back into the grind head first tomorrow.

They force me to grind 5mill xp then have a little meeting and come back and laugh at the players dum enough to do it.

I’m sure it’s frustrating to have the requirement removed after you’ve already completed it, but they’re not doing this for their own fun – they’re doing it because something in their game isn’t working well for players and they’ve decided it needs to be adjusted.

They can’t go back in time and change the past, but it doesn’t make sense not to fix issues that arise just because some people have already pushed through them.

One of the risks of being among the earliest players of any game is you might not benefit from changes that are made as the result of player feedback, that’s just a fact of life and a risk we take.

He also gets the benefit of having the skill before everybody else. Yes he had to grind it, but now he has it forever, so it worked out in his favor regardless.
