He could have made Lady Luck swoon over him constantly. The guy survives stuff with his luck to the point where he could survive encountering an Elder Dragon simply because our group runs into him when he’s in danger. The man is the living proof that some people have the utmost luck on their side.

The real issue is our ability to survive/sustain has not kept up with the power creep of other classes. Adding in mechanics to disable our primary defense didn’t help at all but even if revealed (inflicted by enemies) wasn’t in the game it would still be a uphill battle to win against equally skilled opponents.

I don’t mind fights being a challenge but the walls on this house of cards have gotten too thin.

For survival, you’re forgetting Daredevil’s 3rd evasion, Channeled Vigor, Weakening Strikes, Escapist’s Absolution, Endurance Thief, and Unhindered Combatant. Our survival has kept up with the power creep. I do agree however that our sustain and damage have not, and really need to be buffed a bit.

Just did another pug run just now of TD Chak Gerent. Killed with 30 secs to spare on all 4 lanes with Novus killing theirs before phase 2 finished.

Pretty soon it’ll be farm mode.

If you notice, you see his mental image during the fight. The fat dragon is the avatar he has chosen to fight you with, or maybe even possibly the avatar that the PC and the two NPCs think him to be…a large ugly pathetic dragon who has no real power inside of his own mind.

I don’t really like any part of this.

Without even going to all the details what i see wrong here, this has the same major problem as all the other rifle suggestion that have been thrown at this forum. You simply can’t give thief, a class with best mobility and very good access to stelth, crazy long range weapon combined with high damage.
You need to have some real counter play possibilities when designing skills and such or we end up with loads of different super obnoxious elite specs.

This. Short of giving a thief a bunch of rifle skills (including AA) that have 1-3 second charge times in order to avoid having them do massive amounts of damage too fast (and thus resulting in more mindless nerfs to thief), there’s no real way to get a thief a rifle without making them too OP.

I tried it in PvP yesterday and could activate it to get my boons whenever I wanted. Maybe they ghost fixed it? I F1d right out of gate to get swiftness and the other boons to get our home point.

Wasn’t a ghost fix, they announced in patch notes that they ‘fixed’ it back to normal.

I’m perfectly okay with decreasing the cost on body shot though. I dont use it because its slow, and too short dura on top of it costing as much as headshot.

OH! That reminds me of a change they could do to Body Shot if not an ini cost drop, increase the speed of the projectile. That alone would at least make it able to hit things better.

Unload, I feel is perfectly fine. It does not need a 100% projectile finisher because it would simply need a damage nerf then for all the combo’ing you can do with it, and because the only other two multi-hitting weapon skills that do a projectile finisher (Ranger’s Rapid Fire and Warrior’s Volley) are the exact same way, a 20% projectile finisher. So Unload is fine. A pushback would also cause a nerf in damage simply because it could knock enemies back.

Body Shot is also MOSTLY fine for its cost. 5 stacks of 3s Vulnerability and 1 second of Immobilize aren’t bad at all (though I wish we could up both of those by a single second each).

Pistol 1 is fine because then EVERY dual-wielding weapon set on every class should do an autoattack with both weapons in hand. So no.

Infiltrator’s Signet did that once upon a time (if I remember correctly), and was considered too powerful because of how much spamming it enabled, resulting in a nerf to the 10s it has now. So no on the passive change. The active should be the thing changed IMO, because a simple shadowstep to the enemy really doesn’t warrant its use. Maybe if it gave 3s stealth upon use or made the next 5 attacks guaranteed crits it’d be useful.

Lastly, no, Initiative regen is fine as is unless you want to see the class nerfed once again, because the initiative regen was far stronger in the past than it is now, which resulted in numerous nerfs.

Basically, your ideas are not good ones and you should go back to the drawing board. Personally I think P/P just needs sustain, which would easily be fixable by changing the smoke field on Black Powder to a dark field, enabling leeching of health through the pistol attacks.

I’d prefer if they merely updated the area with new stuff next Living Story. And by new stuff, I mean show some plants and whatnot growing around Orr in all areas. That alone would do it for me, maybe even the clouds parting a little so we see some actual sunlight instead of dreariness. You know, the tiny things that would show us that Orr is healing, if only slowly.

We already know Primordus is probably at the Ring of Fire or IS the Ring of Fire, it only makes sense due to the fact that it’s the only major fire related region on the giant map.

Uh…

You couldn’t be more wrong. The Ring of Fire is an island chain that’s been around – in that place – for over a thousand years (at least since 1 BE).

Primordus has been sleeping beneath what is now the border between Frostgorge Sound and Fireheart Rise, just outside the Central Transfer Chamber, deep underground. He has sense been moving, but remained deep underground (deeper than we got at any point in GW1).

There is ABSOLUTELY no relation between the Ring of Fire and Primordus. In fact, prior to his fall, Zhaitan had control over the Ring of Fire islands via his risen fleet.

Primordus and his territory isn’t anywhere in the map, because it’s beneath the map.

Sorry about that, guessed because so far every other dragon has been a place on the map in a sense. I keep forgetting that there’s an “underworld” to Tyria.

A few crazies have suggested Primordus is in the Maguuma Wastes, but to put it simply, I don’t agree with that theory, I don’t see any reason to believe he’s there and not underground as we’ve been told. Destroyer’s can spawn seemingly anywhere.

We already know Primordus is probably at the Ring of Fire or IS the Ring of Fire, it only makes sense due to the fact that it’s the only major fire related region on the giant map. I have a sneaking suspicion he’ll be the final dragon we take down, for he was the first to awaken 207 years ago and yet after all this time, the only major thing he has done is chase the asura and several other races to the surface. He has done nothing major since then, and seems, judging by his actions, content to letting his siblings do as they please, possibly even using that to his advantage along with DSD, who seems content with staying down in the deep ocean.

I also suspect that Kralkatorrik will be the next ED to fall, followed by Jormag. The reason being that if we look at every Elder Dragon’s actions so far, Zhaitan and Mordremoth have both played too offensively and open handed, forcing Tyria to go down on them hard with everything they have. Zhaitan’s power became too easy to notice, and Mordremoth overplayed his hand and underestimated his opponents. Now compare that to Jormag, who seems to be playing a middle ground, Kralkatorrik who seems to be saving energy after his battle with Destiny’s Edge, and Primordus and DSD who seem to be keeping their hands close to the chest. Kralkatorrik is still possibly badly damaged from the fight with DE still, going after him is the next logical step because he’ll be having to play defensively due to having lost a lot of power.

After that Jormag will be next in the ball game, due to him slowly extending his territory, leaving DSD and Primordus as the last 2 standing simply because they’re not causing immediate problems. Neither have sent a Dragon Champion at us, neither have openly attacked the races in quite a long time. They were the first 2 to awaken, and most likely the last 2 to fall simply because they’re smart enough to stay out of the crosshairs.

DSD, seeing an opportunity to attack, will most likely toss a dragon champion at Lion’s Arch during a celebration of the fall of Jormag, causing massive casualties and putting the rest of the races on the defensive. Primordus may join DSD by attacking the various home cities from below, or simply set his forces at the ready for the second DSD falls. With the Pact focused on DSD and away from the cities, the second DSD’s death occurs Primordus will launch a full scale attack, destroying the major cities or at least badly damaging them, leaving the remainder of the races badly wounded.

That’s my theory at least, and it’s certainly plausible considering how Mordremoth was able to manipulate Scarlet into doing such a long term plan during Living Story Season 1.

It’s more that they need to buff the other skills on Staff so people are far more likely to use those than Vault. But the others are so situational and #2 is missing an evasion frame it should probably have, so #5 is so much safer due to the evasion and leap finisher along with the damage. BS is fine too, it can still gank people easily. If you’re killing people easily with Vault in PvP or being killed easily yourself, they’re/you’re making how they’re/you’re going to move too obvious (or they’re/you’re not moving, like a fool).

Destroy and rebuild them? No. Add onto the current cities and change things around in the future, like the fall leaves for The Grove? Sure, go for it. I would love to see new stuff added in the other towns, and in the case of Black Citadel, see their current architecture possibly updated a little.

I kind of like the changes so far. Steal never goes on a 5 second cool down anymore when you use it while out of range or when there’s no line of sight. Also, it no longer goes on a full cool down if you use it right when an opponent stealths because you are required to have a target to use it. Some of those scenarios happen more often than you might think, and you don’t have control over when they happen usually either. As someone suggested earlier, maybe there could be an option you can toggle on or off for if you want to require a target to be able to use these types of skills. Regardless of whether the target requirement gets reverted or not, the part with steal not going on a 5 second cool down when you use it from out of range or with no line of sight needs to stay.

They really should have just put a checker on the skill. Do you have the traits that give stealth or any kind of buff on steal? If yes, then it will go on full cooldown while giving you the buffs. If not, then it gets the 5 sec cooldown. I mean seriously, as an amateur programmer I can tell you that this is a simple true/false flag check, it shouldn’t take that much time to set up.

Fireball and Auras weren’t the big offenders for visual clutter. Stuff like the Burning condition visual and on-hit animations that SCALE WITH THE MOB are.

This is just fixing something that isn’t broken and ignoring the real problem…

I really like this change. Not wasting my steal because of pathing issues and using it right after my target stealths has been way more helpful overall than intentionally using it without a target for mobility.

Say that when you have a support build for dungeons or WvW. There are many times when you cannot hit an enemy, so you pop the move for the people who can hit them. Now you can’t even do that.

Thief really only had Thrill of the Crime, Bountiful Theft, and the Venom Share for group support, and the first two were traits that prevented you from gimping your utilities while still being able to support. They just gutted Thrill of the Crime and Bountiful Theft with this change. Meaning now you kitten yourself completely if you go support, because only Venom Share is really left.

As I said, I don’t expect every tiny change to be put in the notes, however I’m really not happy that Anet keeps pulling these ninja changes without a word in the patch notes. Some of these things are pretty big changes and the community should be told about them. I’m getting pretty annoyed with the: “let’s only let them know about half the stuff we’re changing” policy that we’ve had for this game pretty much since launch.

Speaking of a ninja change, they made it so Steal requires a target now. Meaning no more out of combat Thrill of the Crime and Bountiful Theft. So no more Might, Fury, Swiftness, and Vigor for the party when you can’t target something. That’s a pretty gigantic change. Not a good one mind you, but a major one that should have been listed.

Reaper form yes (base Shroud is incredibly bad compared to Reaper Shroud) but I hardly see any GS in spvp. Those things are so slow you can dodge by just by walking.

I lolled. GS op? For real? You do realize that elite specs wasnt supposed to be stronger than core, right? They were mean olny to alter playstyle. If base rev issues wont get fixed like lack of 25% move speed/access to swiftness and fury, we will run into issues in future with new elite specs as they all will be worthless in comprasion to Herald.

Our mechanic is around utility skills, we cant just swap one trash skill for another one bc thats how they made revenant and for that reason all legends gotta be viable.

Utility skills = class mechanic in case of revenant. Imagine playing mesmer with half broken shatter mechanic.

If you hadn’t noticed, you have Shiro too for movement. Impossible Odds gives you a constant source of Superspeed. And you have access to Fury outside of Herald through the Invocation traitline. There are alternatives to Herald (though I admit are not AS good) that you can use, though I do admit Anet kinda pushed themselves into a corner with the utilities for Revenant. Though the swiftness problem could be somewhat fixed by making Staff #5 give swiftness during that charge.

Try taking Herald off any Power build and see how it goes.

It loses dps, utility, mobility, everything.

Even Condition spec need Herald line for the F2.

So Revenant is DEPENDING on Herald to be functional.

I lol’d. Every class is now dependent on their trait spec to do their elite specs, all of which are more powerful than the normal classes. It’s a trade-off which everybody has had to do.

Warriors arent. Berserker sux balls. Neither thieves really as dd mostly changes playstyle from cheese invis dp spammer to evade dancer.

Also rev is new. Has lower amount of utility skills (12 to 20 for core) so its not really wise to leave most of his stuff on trash tier. We have lower amount of utility skills for a reason which doesnt hold up really in current state.

Daredevil gives thief a 3rd evade, skills and traits that restore endurance, and overall can buff zerker, condi, and evasion builds. That’s a MASSIVE boost to thief.

Berserker, while I admit is lackluster due to the LOL nature of Berserk and the Rage skills, does get a massive power boost from going Berserk through traits and can even get a constant source of Stability while in it. That’s nothing to sneeze at.

Revenant was added with the elite specs, so of course Herald is going to be mandatory because just like with the other elite specs, it buffs the class up. Mesmer is now reliant on Chronomancer due to the OP nature of Alacrity, Engineer is now reliant on Scrapper due to the OP nature of the gyros and the hammer, Necro is now reliant on Reaper due to the OP nature of the GS and Reaper forms, etc.

Stop complaining about something every class has to do, you’re not a special snowflake class, you have to deal with this same problem like everybody else.

How about they just keep EotM in EotM, they revamp the desert BL, and then add a 3rd new BL that’s forest based? Alpine will be for the server that’s blue, desert for the server that’s red, and the forest for the server that’s green. Simplify them to be a bit more like Alpine, with proper warfare like it was. There, we’ve fixed WvW, AND added variety to the BLs.

Theory about gems to gold from other players

The gem->gold->gem conversion is an artificial fallacy. The gem store is essentially printing new money and I don’t care what anyone says, there is WAY more gold coming in to the economy via the gem store than is going in to the gem store. In game gold is just worth too much for most people to waste it like that. 142g for just 800 gems…OUCH!!!

It’s sad too, I remember back when I first started playing in November of the launch year that I could trade 1g for 10 gems. I miss that ratio, it was perfect!

Agree, I think the mastery system is genius. One may dislike the time needed to get them but dont forget these are account bond.

Actually I don’t like getting mastery point, but level them up is fine to me

Umm, I’m quite the opisite actually my problem is how useless some mastery level are for the amount of time needed, Poison lore should be lv1 since they are basically useless.

Say that on Dragon’s Stand, some of those lores come into play really fast and really hard. You won’t be able to enter quite a few areas in Dragon’s Stand without having that lore active. I do admit however that it never comes up before then.

- Decrease the difficulty of the Chak Gerent Meta. While I understand it’s important to keep some sort of struggle with Meta’s, this is just downright hard. You shouldn’t have to get an organised guild with teamspeak in order to do this. I’ve seen many randoms come together from nowhere and succeed in the Auric Basin Meta – why should this be any different? Also, as it is right now, and as another player said in one of my other threads, this is harder than the Dragon’s Stand Meta! That is seriously messed up. As another person said, perhaps Chak should strive for world domination, because right now they seem to be more powerful than Elder Dragon’s themselves.

AMEN! This meta is a pain, and I’ve been trying to do it for days to get ahold of the final piece I need for the Mistward Headwrap. Adjust this so we can do this with randoms, Anet, it’ll help revitalize this map (since I barely see anybody on this thing).

I have to agree, but I despise the meta currently. Though that may have more to do with the fact that I have to clear it for a piece needed for the Mistward Helm Casing, something incredibly difficult to pull off, more than Dragon’s Stand (which at this point is on farming for many). It MAY be time for a possible nerf to this meta.

Racial change! pls

If they allowed a race change, then it would need to completely erase all story mission progress and of course your cultural armor would be unwearable.

Other than that, I don’t see why there would be a problem. They probably don’t do it simply because they don’t want to put the time into coding a story reset after someone does a race change.

Or because it’s already easy to get a character to 80 as is. Takes less than a week just through map completion.

I would dare say i hate how we killed Mordremoth even more than how we killed Zhaitan. At least with Zhaitan, we HAD to use cannons specifically designed to kill Elder Dragons [notice how this cannon tech doesn’t seem to exist now, i guess Zojja forgot].

If you recall, their entire fleet was shot down, including the cannons before they knew what was happening. You know that airship in Verdant Brink with the glowing aura coming out of a ‘core’? That’s the main airship of the fleet. Mordremoth took them out before they could fire the cannons. Meaning we lost our highest tech stuff in this fiasco.

And yet we STILL killed Mordremoth, who is supposed to be far stronger than Zhaitan, much more easily. In fact, we, almost literally, beat him with nothing but swords.

In his mind. He had the most unstoppable body, but his mind was his weakness. If we had a battle against his body we never would have won.

Uhh no, we fought both. WE, as in us the PC, fought in his mind. A lot of the others fought his physical body and actually managed to hold him at bay while we fought in his mind at the Dream.

And may i remind you that the last time someone fought an Elder Dragon head on like that, it was Destiny’s Edge and ONLY thanks to Snaff going into Krakaltorrik’s mind and almost winning.

Then shouldn’t we be complaining if Kralkatorrik can’t be beaten in a 1 on 1 fight? :p

When Mallyx was modified from its original iteration, I was perplexed by how much the community supported the changes. The leftovers in the Corruption line were not reworked to reflect the changes to the utility skills. Essentially, when I looked at the current iteration of Mallyx, I felt there was a great deal of oversight. I was fine with the warp mechanics being removed, but I don’t feel a “condition-focused” legend should be relegated to a wannabe counterplay to a non-existent condi meta. If the legend doesn’t self apply conditions, it loses all of its original design intent. Outside of Mallyx, Revenant as a whole should be examined; the class just doesn’t have the build diversity it should. 9 out of 10 Revenants I see in PvP, WvW, or PvE should NOT be running the same two legends (Shiro/Glint) practically all the time. I do hope the class is re-examined, as I would like to actually want to play it.

The problem is that Glint can buff anybody nearby easily while keeping energy regen going, and Shiro is the most DPS oriented legend thanks to Impossible Odds. That Quickness and Superspeed is the most powerful thing you can get for burning foes down fast. Ventari is pure healing, which is why he isn’t used much, Jalis is purely for tanking things, and Mallyx simply can’t compete with Shiro due to the changes to his skills.

It’s pretty obvious how everybody else learned it. The Mists could be considered the essence of the universe. Time, space, alternate realities, etc. We could assume there is a ‘center’ to said essence, which the souls of the dead dwell at. Rytlock tapped into that, essentially unlocking a ‘door’ on it. Since it is the essence of everything, it caused a ripple that started to effect every reality, and echo through time and space. People who are sensitive to the Mists are now able to use the power within, regardless of whom/where they are. What the negatives of this action are have yet to be shown or hinted to, sadly.

Having just unlocked this trait, I tried to use it while in the Legendary Assassin Stance, however the trait will not activate when I use an assassin skill. Please fix it, this trait is completely unusable right now.

Making Map Completion Transferable

I see why you’d want the waypoints, and possibly even the karma vendors, but what do you want the rest to be transferable for?

My question too. I’m okay with the waypoints being transferable, since it allows for faster travel through alts. But the hearts, PoI, Vistas, and hero points should not. How do you think people hit level 80 so fast? All of it gives massive experience.

Racial Skills. Potential PvE skill system?

Anet really doesn’t want that to happen, from the beginning they say that racial skills were made to be just a flavor and never be on par with class skills, that way you are not “forced” to make a Charr or a Norn, for example, to have the right warrior build.

Ironically that never stopped this for Engineer with their tool belt skills. The racial skills come into play there, and dear god some races get a better one than others. Charrs, Humans, and Sylvari make much better Engineers than Asura and Norn simply due to their tool belt skills from the racial abilities. Look them up, the racial skill thing has already come into play, at least with that class.

Coalescence of Ruin too much damage

Using it at early game PvE, CoR IS pretty obviously powerful. Long-range, can hit 7 times, and a 2 second evasion frame make it one of the most powerful Revenant weapon skills in the game. This however is just early game, I still haven’t gotten my Revenant up to endgame, where it’s possible that its power subsides in PvE…and in WvW, there’s so much crap going on at once that of COURSE it’s going to kill somebody. You can kill people in WvW with a wet noodle during zerg battles, simply because everything is already going to be hitting you to begin with to wear you down.

Corruption traitline is completly scrawled coz of the last second change. Embrace the darkness is not really good too. Others abilities are ok.

For somebody like me who hadn’t played the Revenant before launch, this entire traitline seems fine until Opportune Distraction. From that point on the traits start not being worth it in this traitline. If we were under the old system of points, nobody would go beyond 3 points into Corruption, it’s just not worth it. :/

5) I agree the personality should matter, I did not make my main character ferocious. But when he talked to Caithe he said, “You cross me again and I will end you” or “You cross me again and I will personally send you to the Mists.” Caithe was silent. In Living Story Season 2, I was asked if I trusted Caithe or not. I said, yes and the other characters were fine with my decision. In HoT, my character was angry at Caithe throughout the entire expansion the player had no say in their character’s response to her. To ArenaNet: I understand, if a majority of players felt mad at Caithe but that does not mean everyone was upset at her.

Trust doesn’t mean you aren’t kittened at somebody. Think about it, she has in her hands the one thing that can tip the scales of the war in one’s favor, the literal trump card. She’s Sylvari, we know they can be taken over, and she’s running into the heart of the enemy’s territory. She’s practically delivering the trump card on a silver platter, with no thought on asking others for help. Caithe is pulling off a really risky move, one that could have ended in disaster, our characters have the right to be kittened at her.
