PvE Main – Zar Poisonclaw – Daredevil
WvW Main – Ghost Mistcaller – Herald
It’s Medium Classes in general. Most zergs only want lights or heavies, mediums don’t have a place in the meta. Druids COULD have been useful, but their healing got nerfed, dropping their viability down the drain. Thieves have no AoE, so they’re out. Engineers…anything they can do somebody else can do better.
its not out of place at all. When Orr rose, many ships including canthan trade routes got thrown off-course. One of them happened to be a circus. When you look at the attentees closely, you’ll see they look very canthan.
Maybe we’ll help them off the island and in return, they’ll help us get to Cantha?
ALL dragons need to die. Don’t get attached to it. You are being corrupted by this thing already.
We were corrupted the second we saw the Eternal Alchemy.
It seems more that she has a plan to manipulate Lazarus, and doesn’t want the commander to know, since he’d never agree to it. Act like she has joined the Mantle, serving Lazarus…and then backstabbing him or giving us info. Jory had always been the detective of the group after all.
If that’s her plan then she’s in way over her head with Lazarus.
Oh yeah. Expect us to have to save her along with Kas.
This JP is hands down the most evil JP in all of GW2. I think Josh took pity on us by putting in checkpoints, because without those, I’d be throwing my laptop out my window. And the worst part of this? You have a Vet Ooze at the end that magically spawns right in front of you and knocks you off.
For all that effort, there needs to be a special title for people who complete this. After I finished, I screamed like a little girl, and cried tears of joy.
Thanks for the warning – another JP I won’t even be bothering to try. Hopefully nothing important is gated by it.
Unless the patch fixed it, there be mursaat tokens in there.
Kal, everything is adorable when it’s a baby…and then it grows up, becomes vicious, and is hunted down and killed.
My only gripe is that each checkpoint should give you a buff indicating that you’ve gotten it and not missed one.
Most definitely, I was surprised that they didn’t. If I recall right, doesn’t the JP in Silverwastes have a buff telling us which checkpoint we got?
The jumping itself wasn’t so hard, I didn’t really have trouble with it (so much that I’d be fine taking the checkpoints away personally). What I take issue with is how unintuitive it felt. If I didn’t follow a guide, I don’t think I could’ve ever figured where to go. I’d probably have spent hours in there trying to figure it out and given up because it’s just not clear enough.
This too. The JP was seriously hidden, and a lot of the jumps were too. We could probably blame gliding for this since it opens so many more doors for designing a JP.
They obviously rushed the expansion out before it was ready. The leadership of the Nightmare Court has gone to Duchess Chrysanthea, who only appears at the end of Dragon’s Stand. The Commander acts like they know her, even though WE DON’T KNOW HER, meaning there’s missing quests.
I just want to see the Crystal Desert but somehow I feel Jormag might be next. You could write a good story around someone finally damaging the tooth that starts a long chain of events that leads to defeating Jormag. Seeing the Far Shiverpeaks would be fun too.
Quoting this for a second…it’s most likely Primordus we’re taking down, and then Jormag’s after that, peeps. If dragons absorb each other’s power, how can we possibly get to Jormag when he’s freezing? We kill Primordus, causing Jormag to absorb his power, heating up the temperature in the Far Shiverpeaks to where we can actually go after him without freezing to death the second we get near him.
DSD would be next after that, having absorbed ice powers, freezing the location where she’s at, allowing us to go right for her. Leaving only Kralky…
(edited by RyuDragnier.9476)
Couldn’t Kasmeer find out his intentions? I mean she is supposed to know whether people lie or don’t
If Kas shows up anyway. Her, Rox, and Braham have been surprisingly absent for everything going on. It makes me wonder what they’re up to.
A Rytlock-focused episode would be awesome, though at this point it’s hard to imagine how it’d tie in with the dragons we’re fighting.
What bugged me is that neither the two Adamant Guard grunts nor Smodur have any business ordering Rytlock around. He’s Blood, not Iron, and he’s not on Iron territory either so what gives?
The Charr follow a military hierarchy, and the Imperator is the 2nd highest ranking, only to the Khan-Ur, whose blood flows through the Imperators. Him getting an order from an Imperator is the equivalent of a US General of ANY military branch getting an order of the President of the United States (who is Commander-in-Chief of the military), meaning he cannot say no without repercussions.
Its name will most likely be Scylla, based on the sea monster of Greek mythology.
We probably won’t. She’s coming across as a peaceful dragon, that will be molded in Glint’s image…meaning at best, she will help the heroes against Kralky. At worst, she will be neutral and pretty much stay out of affairs like her mother did…and probably give us her own Prophecies.
Why the hell did the commander suddenly develop such insane hatred? It’s out of place and unexplained.
They probably didn’t finish all the story quests they wanted to do which would have explained this. Why else would Duchess Chrysanthea be at the final battle in Dragon’s Stand, yet be nowhere else in the game? The Commander even talks to her like he has known her for a while even though we never met her before this. It’s painfully obvious we’re missing quests to fill in the gaps, and only shows how rushed out the door HoT was.
Didn’t link anything, and that was only the 3rd message in map/team chat I had put down that night.
It was the single hardest JP I’ve ever done, taking 2 hours before I managed to do it to completion. Whoever made this is probably the guy who made Tribulation Mode in SAB, because this was just as evil. I do think we need a title for completing this, ANET, because few can say they got up to the top. I think a title of Owner of the Chalice would work.
Also, look at dat view of nothingness!
They’re killing things in the way.
Somebody reported you. Happened to me, and I found it funny, just because I told a guy that there was no point in defending Anz because it was paper.
You’re being naive, it is easy to earn the gold to transfer around low ranked servers every 2 months. Why wouldn’t they do it.
Why should they do it?
To ensure their server remains open and has a linked server.
This. You’d be surprised how much serious business WvW is for some…they’ll do anything to win, even though you get nothing for winning.
Regarding the Crystal Desert…
Is it possible that it’s been a desert more than once? The gods reshaped and revitalised Tyria, so the area being fertile before the war with Abaddon could have been something that happened while the mursaat were away.
Regarding the use of the term ‘centuries’ – I think ArenaNet may just have been using this to signify “a lot of time” when “millennia passed”, while technically more accurate, is a less poetic term that some players might not even recognise. Judging by what’s in the post-return tablets (collapse of jotun civilisation, magic being returned through the Bloodstones, Forgotten having returned to the Crystal Desert, all of which we’ve been told or there is reason to infer that they happened around the time of the Exodus) I’d say that they returned sometime around or after the Exodus, possibly during the Guild Wars.
Heck, it would make a lot of sense if it was the unlocking of the Bloodstones (at least in part) that enticed them to return, although this isn’t mentioned in the tablets. They seem pretty determined to have magic, though, so it would make sense they wouldn’t want to return to a magic-deprived world.
Or the tablets could have been written after the Mursaat came back, and thus they used Crystal Desert because they learned what became of the Crystal Sea after they returned.
So it turns out Rytlock was avoiding his orders from the Black Citadel because they wish to know what he was doing in the Mists and how he got his power. Since this is Rytlock, he has a reason for not telling Imperator Smodur what’s going on. My theory is that the origin of the magic is something that the Charr would not accept the existence of, nor accept that Rytlock got it.
Meaning the possibility of him meeting the equivalent of a god, which the Charr despise. Next episode we’ll most likely head over to where Rytlock is in the Black Citadel and find out the truth at the end, a truth which would most likely change what we know about things, possibly even the past of Tyria itself.
I’m definitely curious to see what comes out of this discovery. Is it possible that certain forms of magic are “anathema” to certain Elder Dragons? Maybe the EDs are capable of filtering magic when they draw it from a ley line like the Chak do, so that they aren’t hurt by absorbing their anathema magic that way. But that wouldn’t necessarily prevent us from targeting them directly with their anathema magic…
Alternatively, could we replicate the filtering effect on a larger scale to block Primordus’ Fire magic from getting transferred to the other Dragons when we kill him?
This makes me wonder something as well… Killing Zhaitan transferred Death magic to the other dragons, and killing Mordy transferred Plant magic to the other dragons. But Zhaitan was also the Dragon of Shadow, and Mordy was also the Dragon of Mind. Are those other aspects reflected in the prism? Is Primordus now a Fire-Death-Plant Dragon, or is he a Fire-Death-Shadow-Plant-Mind Dragon?
Actually, I don’t believe Taimi’s idea.
Mordremoth’ blight clones got nothing to do with death magic, it could be used on living thing as well.
So could Zhaitan’s power. Remember the living people that he changed into minions IN FRONT OF US? Or the Necromancer in the last Charr Personal Story mission for the Orders? That necromancer was very much alive. Zhaitan’s power may be able to corrupt the living if they accept his power, like the other dragons.
This makes me want a button you can press at a heart in vanilla GW2 that resets the heart, allowing you to redo it, at least once a day. Why? Because there are certain heart quests I absolutely love that I would keep doing over and over again. Such as the Heart quest at Terra Carorunda in Blazeridge Steppes.
That ash legion kit is absolutely fun as hell. Stealth, backstab an enemy for an instant kill and enemy human scream.
stabs AHHH! stabs AHHH! stabs AHHH!
Here’s what they should do…make it so transferring has a 3 month cooldown. Server links every 2 months. Congrats, you can change servers, but you’ll be stuck there for a while after they relink.
So basicly, force them to be in a place they maybe dont want to be in for half a link.
Yes, that will surely make them love WvW and not make them toxic at all. We’re in a rather silly situation when Anet creates a problem we the players saw coming a mile away when links was announced, but then players propose that the solution is to punish other players for it.
We could propose fixing the problem Anet created instead, but what the kitten do I know.
I mean, it’s not like it’s the players choice to switch servers, we all know Anet forces server switches and the players have no control over it… /sarcasm
This is a fix to punish the servers that purposefully have guilds move to their linked server so their main server stays open and not full like they should be. And don’t say they don’t, there’s a kitten good reason why a server currently in NA T1 is not full and yet 2 servers in T2, one of which is falling down to T3, are declared full. Besides, who do you know in WvW who switches servers multiple times in the course of 3 months? Only those gaming the current server linking.

I was thinking the same way. I don’t feel she would actually betray the Commander. She is basically doing what she does best which is investigate.
Plus her acting the way she did is essentially ‘bait’ for Lazarus. If he is trying to manipulate us, he’ll see what Marjory said as a possible rift to exploit. Which is most likely something she wants.

Considering how wrong those tablets are I’ll just assume they were written by some unstable mursaat who was high on oven cleaner.
Or they were written after the Mursaat returned to Tyria, and are in fact truthful…I only say this because if I recall, Glint NEVER mentioned what happened with the Mursaat prior to their sacrifices of the chosen. If she had, then yes, this would be a retcon and bad, but if it was never mentioned by her or the Flameseeker Prophecies, there IS a chance it could be true.
In which case the history we know would be propaganda, created simply because the races refused to believe they had a hand in causing their own destruction. You know what happens when races take the high ground and have a ‘holier than thou’ air to them…anything that could be considered bad is twisted in their favor. “History never lies. Historians, however…”
Anet, make me a plushie of Aurene, I WILL BUY IT IN A HEARTBEAT.

It’s about the size of the older maps. Pretty big, 5 hearts to do, a lot of stuff to find and do.
Tbh, what they really need to do is this…if you’re changing a skill due to sPvP, ONLY CHANGE IT IN SPVP! Because otherwise you nerf things that will make classes unviable in other modes, such as Thief/Ranger/Engineer. These 3 have gotten the short end of the stick constantly and are not wanted in zerg warfare simply because they either don’t bring enough or don’t bring anything to help…because the skills that DID let them compete were nerfed into the ground due to sPvP.
so the only reason to be in the HoT maps is leveling masteries? I think most people do the events for loot or other reasons, and not really masteries (considering many people have most of them leveled by now too)
Loots a big helper in it. I’ve actually maxed out the exp bars for a lot of the HoT masteries…because I still don’t have the points to level them up. <_<
OK so YB and JQ are now full TC and Maguuma are not. My question to anet is how can you justify this?
Players are more likely to leave lower tiers to go to higher tiers.
With Tier 1 open and JQ full, there are likely more players leaving JQ to tier 1 servers.
This is a business after all.
I don’t know anybody on JQ who’d want to go to the T1 servers. It’s quite literally a blob fest, with T1 terrified of running anything less than their entire map queue to take things. And in true enough fashion…you catch them without the entire map queue, they all fold really easy to a group of 30.
SAB had the content there, and it seems it was quite a bit of work to get it ‘turned back on’.
Perhaps, the Devs are working on it, as we speak, along with other Festivals, new or old.
I’d love for the CP to be a yearly deal, probably for Summer. We dont’ really have any events going on in the summer, so why not make it the Summer event? A heated brawl with deadly adversaries for the enjoyment of the warriors throughout Tyria! This of course would mean a return of the evil…LIADRI!
(edited by RyuDragnier.9476)
Nahh, ANET will be attaching those masteries to all the new content maps leading up to the next expansion. So you’ll pretty much be done in no time as long as you keep doing the new stuff. The mastery points, on the other hand…prepare for a grind. -_-
I always thought you weren’t there because Trahearne basically said offscreen, “Commander, you’ve done a lot of hard work, take a vacation for a while. All the hard work is out of the way, and I don’t think the small fry left would interest you much. I’ll call you the second anything big comes up.”
I’m sure I recall Rytlock telling us that the sword “came into his care” just before attempting the ghost-purging ritual. I’ve sort of interpreted that as “somebody found it and brought it back to Ascalon”.
Also, he got it back after he dove into that Mists portal. So he’s “acquired” it twice now.
Actually…this may be the answer right here. Maybe the sword itself traveled back to Ascalon, by its own magic? I mean we see it dive directly into the Mists in that story instance, so it’s very possible the sword itself returned to its rightful lands, waiting for the one who it deemed worthy to use it…why it chose Rytlock is anybody’s guess though. :p
I have never been able to figure this out. I’ve tried hitting people with CoR through gates and it doesn’t work for me.
From what I can tell, it requires being at specific spots. I’ve tried targetting somebody on the other side, won’t go through the door. Tried standing a little away from the door, get nothing. Move into the corner of the door…and it goes through.
That said, I think whoever designed the DBL deserves a medal. There were many problems with it but, for once, they were addressed with some manner of urgency. There are still issues but they are no where near as numerous as Alpine. Unfortunately, DBL was meant to support an RvR game whereas the remaining old-school populace is mostly the GvG crowd. There’s no telling which direction Anet plans to go since they haven’t said anything about it.
If we’re lucky, they’ll make a new map for green BL, and then keep alpine as blue. So people who want to GvG can go to blue and EBG, and the rest can actually RvR in green and red.
Please, it’s not that bad, you’ll be back up here in no time FA. DB will replace you, and we’ll end up with the eternal JQ/YB/FA matchup until the next linkage…which may still keep the tier set.
The problem Sylvyn is that it creates too many lopsided matches. JQ and FA can barely deal with T1, and T3 can barely deal with anybody from T2. It’s a huge gap between server pops and skill, and a 1-up/1-down ladder would only highlight that worse.
It was Colin Johanson who was the previous director in charge of GW2, and was in charge of decisions in the game. He was replaced by Mike O’Brien months ago, who seems to have been trying to listen to fans and fix stuff in the game actively, including WvW. Not easy to do with WvW, considering the many years of seemingly being ignored by Colin…but at least we can say it’s finally being done. Here’s hoping he can bring it back to glory.
well tbh Chaba FA was fighting a T2 staple and mag at one point
Almost I don’t know how that rumor came to be but we are not going sos
unless I get like a couple eternities
Fixed.
Now, will Mag stay up in T1 and cement the final T1 status as BG/TC/Mag? Or will they, like many bandwagon servers, fall apart and drop down to bottom tier, to arise only years later from the dead?
Now tier 3 is even worse FA is far better than yaksbend, the other servers are getting destroyed, meanwile in tier 2 we are watching yaksbend running away from fights and pvdoor backcapping stuff. They don’t belong in tier 2… What were you thinking ANET?
Pull FA back up and throw DB down to T3. There, we’ve fixed T3 and T2.
So, now that it has happened…how are SoS and SBI enjoying being steamrolled by FA now?
Ironically we saw that YB dev while in EBG tonight, and were about to kill him…but he tagged down right when we were delivering the final blow. We really wanted that achievement.
People still use Teamspeak? I thought everybody already moved to the superior Discord.
Where did you get this notion that wvw shouldn’t get balanced at the small scale? Do you think the PU nerf, or the history of nerfs to thieves, was due to their massively OP contribution to zerg vs zerg combat?
Where did you get the notion that nerfs to thief were anything to do with small scale WvW, thief got nerfs because for pretty much the entire game pre-HoT they were meta in PvP.
The reality is they pretty much don’t balance for small scale WvW at all, they barely make any balance changes based on large scale WvW, the class balance in WvW has been terrible whatever scale the whole game, they spent 3 years basically balancing around PvP, they now balance around PvE raids also, WvW large or small scale is pretty much neither here nor there when it comes to balancing.
This. If I recall, PU memser got nerfed because of sPvP, as did thief, as did ranger, as has almost anything ingame. Only recently have nerfed been dished out due to anything else, and that was raids.
There is already an 11 point variance on one match up between first and third. That’s 8 hours of holding first place just to catch up. The skirmish system and victory points have solved nothing in the long run.
I believe that the next change is to give more points depending on how many upgrades an objective has. I believe this is counter-intuitive as although in theory it incentivises servers with nothing to lose (i.e. all their stuff is paper) to attack, I believe it sends servers with small populations into the meat grinders of fully upgraded enemy keeps, thus wiping them over and over, giving the already powerful side lots of PPKs and ultimately serving as a morale-crusher that will drive the scores further apart instead.
BUT there is hope.
JR ‘Bob’ Dobbs! A glowing beacon of slack
Someone suggested giving more points as the week wears on, which I believe is a great way to help make the matchups less of a foregone conclusion by any given Tuesday.
If they were to increase the points on how many upgrades an objective has, I’d hope that they also increase the amount of points for CAPTURING said objective.
